I feel so done with work and mine is fine. I am as senior as I can go realistically and I have been pulled back from the one area where I could have been impactful and possibly got one more promo (long shot realistically but there) because the business need me elsewhere. Presented as a choice but really wasn’t. Paying as much as we can towards uni is priority for now - usually I love having twins but this is going to be a double whammy! means I have to tootle along for now and yearn for a few years time when I can go pt.

i have finally started my treatment this morning. It took 4 sets of blood tests but hurrah! This has meant I am pausing on my plans to go back in the mj for a few weeks.

I am really nervous tbh. I have been eating really really badly over the past month because it has no effect on the scales (as my daughter says, it’s like I am jogging all the time even in my sleep). Not just a lot but crap. I know I will start to put weight back on and that I should but after a lifetime of judging my happiness by the scales this is a bit of a mindfuck. I have actually done some meal planning so I eat what my TDEE should be to maintain and made it healthy tasty stuff.

everyone is now telling me I am too skinny - the irony is my bmi is around 24 so in no way skinny at all. It’s just I l look scrawny for me - as I have said before, I am built on the busty barmaid template and all the weight has come off my top half and face so I get it.

HeidiLite · Yesterday 08:38

@myladyjane what did you get, Methimazole? They figured out if it was Graves or not?

OP posts:
myladyjane · Yesterday 08:55

They think graves now so carbizamole. It’s still all a bit weird though as I have antibodies for both graves and hashimotos, t3 getting worse but t4 slightly getting better, heaps of symptoms which don’t align with the bloods which are raised but not sky high. My TPO antibodies are sky high though so from the research I have done may be why I am so symptomatic.

I may have cried at the drs when I got a ‘shall we just watch and wait again?’

Polkadotdash · Yesterday 09:14

@myladyjane oh you poor soul. That is so disheartening. You just want answers.

@cloudjumper and @26inprogress both of you sound like you are having shocking times at work. I really feel for you. It’s all consuming when work is a hellscape. And it’s the kind of thing that pushes you (well, me) to comfort eating.

DS dropped off at uni this weekend. I’m not emotional at all. I’m so excited for him. I’m worried there is something wrong with me that I’m not tearful! Just exhausted from all the packing, planning and driving.

I’m still having my wavy weighing going on with a range of 10lbs each time I weigh. This week I am staying off the scales as it’s depressing me too much. Today’s job is packing away the summer clothes and getting out the early layers. This will be a test of how much I’ve put on since last year as I was at my lowest weight last October and I’m almost a stone above that now.

Im still having gynae issues following the hysterectomy. Physio has asked me to try psyllium husk. My god, I regret that. I’ve only managed a week on it and I thought I might die! Has anyone else tried it before and found it just causes the most awful constipation?

HeidiLite · Yesterday 09:47

I've used psyllium but it had rather the opposite effect. Are you taking powder or capsules? The powder had to be drunk immediately and you need to drink a lot of water with it.

@myladyjane WTF really, I do not think Graves can improve by just waiting. I tried carbimazole and it helped for a while, but then had recurrence quite soon after, so decided to get the thyroid out.

I also think we need a new thread soon.

Oh gosh im sorry to hear about your work issues @cloudjumperand hope you find something better soon.

@DGmaintaininggood luck!

@PolkadotdashI think it’s fab that you’re excited for your son, he’ll have the best time!!

@myladyjanehope the meds kick in soon.

thanks for all the support, I’m feeling more upbeat this week, had a few good conversations last week, who knows whether they’ll go anywhere but at least happening!!

I did a 19mile v v hilly charity walk yesterday, it’s the first time I’ve ever done anything that far and I was really worried, but I did it and other than 1 blister and feeling a bit stiff today I’m good. It seems to have given me the kick up the bum I need too as determined to get back on track. Have just had a 7.5mg pen approved by Medicine Marketplace so hoping the higher dose will help suppress my appetite. I’ve got just under 4 weeks before we go to South Korea and determined to be back to where I was by then.

Zempy · Yesterday 10:29

Sorry to hear some are experiencing work issues. I am 61 and on the wind down. Like @myladyjane there is one niche promotion I could get, but the person blocking that post (she does sweet fuck all but is an absolutely lovely black disabled woman so will never be fired) is refusing to take ill health retirement offer so I have to accept this is it for me. I am not remotely ambitious. I just want more money, not responsibility 😉

My 7.5 still doesn’t seem like enough. I weighed myself and have gained three pounds over summer. Not sure what to do.

Jins · Yesterday 11:09

My sympathies to all with work issues.

Pysillium husk gives me constipation PTSD. I have to be really careful with fibre as I’m on a very strict low fibre diet but I’ve coped with more since being on MJ. Not even going to think about trying psyllium again as I was bunged up for ages.

Packing today, flying tomorrow and meeting up with my schoolfriend on Friday so I’ve got an exciting week

myladyjane · Yesterday 13:36

@Zempy has what you’ve been eating changed at all? Just thinking have you eaten less good quality/more convenience? Are you actually hungrier? Or less careful? Just reflecting that for me I eat more when it’s not the good healthy stuff and that weird mj effect of wanting only healthy stuff definitely wore off for me.

before going up do you have time/inclination to do a back to basics reset? Or just a couple of weeks of close monitoring? Ignore me if you’ve done all of this of course - no grandma egg sucking intended!

Zempy · Yesterday 14:21

I am actually feeling loads more hungry 😥 and experiencing food noise as well. I can distract myself from that but the actual hunger is difficult.

However, I suspect that you are right. I have allowed my sweet tooth too much license and it’s taken over. I need to pack in the biscuits altogether. I can’t just have one a day like at the start.

I am just loathe to increase my dosage higher than 7.5 at this stage but I may have to in order to acheive the factory reset.

Thank you!

26inprogress · Today 10:14

Have a great holiday @Jins!
oh Zempy, I’m exactly the same, food noise, hungry and eating rubbish. I had a 7.5ml pen delivered from Medicine Marketplace this am and my initial thought was ‘I’ll leave it and have another day of eating what I want 😳😱’, thankfully I pushed that thought away and jabbed. I’ve put on 9 pounds! I know I haven’t but quite sobering. Hope you can find a way, even if it is going up for a while, I didn’t want to either but here we are..
2 interviews for me, 1 today and 1 tomorrow 🤞🏻.
have a good week all

myladyjane · Today 14:06

@26inprogress good luck!

if it helps, I had a total binge on Saturday and Sunday (it was dhs bday weekend) but I didn’t stint knowing my thyroid shit would ‘protect’ me from any gain. Today is my weekly weigh in and I’m up 2lbs so that’s me told!
