Oh holy fuck ladies. I weighed myself this morning. I avoided it for the whole of August because it was depressing me. I’ve put on a stone in a month. A STONE. I’m now back to 14 stone. I’m absolutely horrified. I’m on a 5mg jab now after the Lotus debacle so even if it’s less effective than the higher doses surely it should be preventing me gaining 14lbs in 4 weeks. I’m now the same weight as my husband. I’ve had an active couple of weeks as well as I’ve been off work and doing stuff with the kids (swimming, walking, I even bloody played tennis) Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck.

Oh mate! That’s rank! So sorry, you must be Fewmin 😡.

I know it’s no consolation but I have previously gained half a stone in just a week so it really is easily done. I am sure you can lose it!!!

Polkadotdash · 03/09/2026 15:07

@Zempy i am fewmin! I feel very defeated. I’ve now got to work out how to stop gaining weight, start losing the 1.5 stones I’ve regained since this time last year and then try to get back on track to try to get anywhere near my goal weight of 11 stone. I’m currently three stone overweight. Fuck’s sake man. It feels like a lost cause.

BreezyPeer · 04/09/2026 07:16

@Polkadotdash thats really annoying! But don’t discount the impact of less structured eating over the summer. A few weeks back on track on routine could see you back to your new normal?
@Zempy how are you? I haven’t caught up with you for ages
@26inprogress i ended up doing a diy grooming advent calendar last year and it did go down well! I’m hoping the look fantastic one will give him some different brands/ideas.
sorry to hear about your job 😢
I’m not sure how far I updated but I am in my new job. I’m finishing induction this week and start properly on Monday. It’s a bit of a sideways move but it’s a very different role so lots to learn!
i’m also still deep in my new relationship- it’s going well making plans for Christmas and early next year so seems to be sticking!
Happy Friday everyone 🌅

HeidiLite · 04/09/2026 07:39

oh no, @Polkadotdash this is really frustrating. But you can get back on track. Sometimes we need a little break and weight loss will speed up after that.

Zempy · 04/09/2026 08:42

Hi @BreezyPeer. I’m fine. Just trying to maintain and not doing a very good job tbh.

I am cracking open a new pen today so we will see if the old pen was just not working due to being open for three months, or if I actually need to increase dose. It’s been horrible experiencing that craving for food again. I had forgotten the way it’s compulsive.

To complicate matters, I am off to Austria with adult DS for a few days so I cant just top up if I feel ravenous.

Oh well. I’m still looking after DS cat. They have left him with me for too long really and we are rather bonded and in love. It’s going to be difficult to part with my furry friend in a few weeks.

Have a good weekend everyone.

myladyjane · 04/09/2026 13:02

@Polkadotdash what an absolute arse - am livid on your behalf. And @Zempy fingers crossed the new pen kicks in.

I do agree that summer doesn’t help with structure. I love the September back to school thing and find that I am much more up for a bit of self care now than I am in Jan/feb.

at @BreezyPeer lovely to hear the chap is working out

@26inprogress fingers crossed on the job stuff - exhausting really.

it about a month since my last mj and my god I miss it! I am not sure if it’s my thyroid, my peri hormones or ceasing the mj but I am STARVING. Last night I was so hungry I had to get up and eat - I did have some Greek yoghurt rather than crap but still….

more blood tests week after next. I am still a bit symptomy but my weight has settled and I do feel a bit better. The concern I now have is that I will go from overactive to underactive (apparently this is a thing) and I will 100% want to back on the mj if that happens. Next blood tests results will give me more of a steer

HeidiLite · 04/09/2026 14:04

@myladyjane I may have missed it, did they put you on any kind of medication for the thyroid?

OP posts:
myladyjane · 04/09/2026 15:12

@HeidiLite not yet. Because apparently me taking biotin in some hair and nail supplements occasionally is more important than the fact I have a whole host of symptoms (not impressed can you tell….)

Polkadotdash · 04/09/2026 16:53

Ok ladies, panic over. I weighed again this morning and I’m 13st 3lbs today. So either I have lost 11lbs overnight (maybe all my wishing worked) or my scales were having a hissy fit yesterday and being rude. Honest to god, I spent all day yesterday googling how the hell I could have put a stone on in 4 weeks. My poor husband had to put up with me crying and moaning about being fat and asking if I could get liposuction etc etc. And all because of the bastarding scales being out.
I mean, I’m by no means winning at the weightloss game yet. But the gains are not as bad as we thought.

Thank god for that, I read your post and was raging on your behalf! Rude scales are the worst. Hope you’re feeling better.

Enjoy Austria Zempy and hope new pen works its magic. Maybe you need to permanently adopt the cat?!

@BreezyPeeraah amazing news in the new job and so pleased your relationship is going well too! Life sounds fab!!

not been weighed yet but back on track! Will weigh tomorrow before going into London with DS to help with field study 2 for his A level geography 🫠. Other than that, quiet weekend here. Still knackered!!

happy weekends all

cloudjumper · 05/09/2026 09:28

@PolkadotdashI had a similar experience with our scales after the holiday - they told me on Wednesday that I had put on quite a bit of weight, then on Friday, I had lost it all again and more 🤷🏼‍♀️ Technology 🙄 And DH had the same, so I’m counting it as a fluke

myladyjane · 05/09/2026 10:08

@Polkadotdash what arses your scales are. Sue them for emotional distress.

Jins · 05/09/2026 10:22

Those scales need to be firmly reprimanded.

I haven't been on MN much while I was away because quite frankly the slow loading coupled with poor reception proved too much. It ended up being a very different trip as our friends decided not to risk the weather so it was just DH and I. Still had a great time and enjoyed a couple of days in Warwick as well.

While I was away I ate like a pig. I knew I had spare capacity so didn’t hold back. We took most of our frozen meals with us to help with freezer space so it didn’t cost much for the week. So I got home expecting to be back in my happy weight around 8st 7 to find I’ve dropped to 8st 3.6 which is a new low. Mystery. It’s not been helpful to the loose skin issue and I’ve started to notice a bit on my stomach now.

I’ve got a month off ordering as weprescribe have noted that I’ll be using up a 7.5mg pen which gives me some breathing space as we’re off to Malta towards the end of the month and I thought I’d booked half board but actually booked b&b. Good job there’s a Lidl up the road 🤣

HeidiLite · 05/09/2026 12:13

very rude scales! My body composition ones are all over the place, but they are known to be very inaccurate, of course.

26inprogress · 05/09/2026 19:51

@BreezyPeerafter our conversation on the grooming box, I’ve ordered for my DS too. I’ve ordered myself a v nice beauty advent and thought it’d be lovely for him so thanks for mentioning! Let’s hope they love them!
weighed this am and 3 pounds on, I’m happy with that! Walked 15k today so that’ll help too.

Jins · 06/09/2026 08:09

It’s definitely not summer anymore is it? I’ve always used the astronomical date for autumn but may switch to the meteorological dates in future.

Woke up to a crime scene this morning with two cats prowling around the understairs cupboard and spots of blood everywhere. I’ve just opened the cupboard door and returned to bed with a coffee. Can’t face that sort of effort without some caffeine.

DH is off on his cycling tour in France on Wednesday so he’s off with his mates on a training ride today. I’m planning to get stuck into some sewing as the autumn/winter trouser situation is dire.

myladyjane · 06/09/2026 08:24

@Jins a friend of mine has a serial killer cat and the things she’s accidentally put her hands in don’t bear thinking about

what pattern are you thinking for trousers? I have found myself finally enjoying a barrel leg after over a year of not managing to find anything that suits my short little legs.

I am very paranoid about weigh regain once the thyroid settles so whilst I have had to get new clothes as I had no autumn/winter stuff at all other than a couple of jumpers, instead of some nice good quality but pricey bits I’d promised myself this year, I have gone next/m&s/supermarkets. Maybe next year…..

Jins · 06/09/2026 08:47

@myladyjane one of DHs favourite stories relates to the aftermath of a murder by a previous cat about 30 years ago. Our house phone was on the floor next to my chair so when it rang I reached down for it, still talking to DH. I ‘answered’ it but there was still ringing going on and a look of disbelief on DHs face. Turns out I’d picked up a dead rat fully in rigor mortis. That rat proved to be a bit of a nuisance as my parents and uncle and aunt were visiting the next day and while we’d done our best, we were living in practice accommodation in a very run down Victorian semi which was full of damp. My aunt was doing her best but when the kitten appeared with the same rat and presented it to her she burst into tears. Took her ages to recover and it was only when we bought our first house that she visited again.

Intial trouser pattern will be very boring I’m afraid as I’m going with these as I’ve got a load of ponte lying around. Another pair will be flat front with elastic back waistband and straight legged but loose fit around the thighs. I have relatively long legs but they are very spindly compared to the rest of me whatever weight I am and as I’m now old enough to not give a shit I’m sticking with what I think suits me. I’ve also got an unusual denim jacket in the planning stage.

Wtafmakeitstop · 06/09/2026 12:01

@Polkadotdash phew! Maybe you need a new set of scales?
Happy Autumn to all, although it’s still pretty warm here

DGmaintaining · 06/09/2026 12:51

Happy Sunday all! Am back from work travels and we have a family lunch today.
Sticking to a lower dose of 2mg to help with jet lag recovery.
Weighed in at 60.55kg this morning, which feels low following a long haul flight and a belly full of breakfast, but perhaps 5 days of no creatine has balanced out the water retention gained from the flight.

I am enjoying this slightly higher plateau, feels better to be at a bmi of 22.

@Jins just 😱 at your rat-phone story

@PenelopePitstopPersists lovely to hear from you again. And interesting on your four job offers. You’ve reminded me I need to brush up on my interview skills. I have got very comfortable in my current job and there is a re-org about to happen.

I’ve turned down a job offer in LA (informal, as it was my old boss asking) as I don’t think it’s right for the family. However DH has just lost his job (the one he got in March), and DS1 is making noises about ‘not minding’ living in LA for a few months, but I do wonder how he would get on there for two years with no qualifications - at least here for the moment he has a plan to gain a few more GCSEs and then has a job waiting for him after this school year. DS2 has had a positive return to school so that’s one more plus point.

@HeidiLite how are Den plans progressing?
We do not have much separate entertaining space in our little house. I do think that this puts the boys off from inviting people over now they’re older, which is a shame, but it’s also an incentive for them to eventually get a job and earn enough to move out!

We are thinking about upgrading the grannex, so it’s more comfortable for DM who, in her 70s, is now beginning to feel her age after feeling invincible her whole life. We need a safer walkway from house to end of the garden, a more stable foundation that doesn’t move every summer, more natural light and airflow and potentially room for two bedrooms in the event of a live in carer. Will have to work out if it’s cheaper than just moving to a bigger house, the cost of building & renovating has skyrocketed.

PenelopePitstopPersists · 06/09/2026 12:59

@Polkadotdash , god I would have been fed up, thank the lord that your scales decided to play ball.

I can't seem to scroll to reply to everyone's news as the site keeps freezing, but remember @BreezyPeer's new job and lovely relationship, @26inprogress ' back from holiday, @Zempy going to Austria and @Jins 's trousers! Sorry everyone.

@DGmaintaining , I hope you get what you want from the re-org, sorry your DH has lost his job. LA would be fun, but very difficult at your DC's age. I moved aborad at baby/toddler stage and it was good, but came back for DS's first year in primary.

I'm not sure if everyone else is finding the site a struggle but it is one reason I don't bother with it anymore.

Had a lovely time staying with friends, now home and three weeks left 😅at home. I am doing a major declutter, loft, shed, double garages, cupboards, no stone unturned. My skip will be rammed. I will then make downsizing a priority. I've got to the point when I think that I really shouldn't be rattling around in a house this big on my own for 4/5 of the year when I need to maintain it and improve it here and there. 2027 (gawd) plan I think.

I got weighed this morning with a little bit of trepidation after eating out and drinking wine all week. Literally, no change.🙏

Fairly autumnal here, raining heavily today which has made me very productive in clearing out indoor cupboards. Hopefully the sun will come out as forecast because I need to get outside for a bit.

Have a good week losers.

DGmaintaining · 06/09/2026 13:12

@PenelopePitstopPersists thanks for clarifying what I suspected, that moving with an autistic 18 year old who needs extended entry level education and a 14 year old just starting the gcse curriculum would be ‘challenging’ 🙈

Good luck with the decluttering, sounds very cleansing to be able to chuck stuff into a skip.

Polkadotdash · 06/09/2026 20:51

@Jins the rat story is hilarious! Love it.

And those scales have had a factory reset, the little buggers. I was honestly so despondent. That on top of a really shitty return to work after two weeks off.

It’s been boiling in the south today. We had a local fete today and it was heaving with the good weather.

HeidiLite · 06/09/2026 21:41

@DGmaintaining that would indeed be a bit challenging! Primary aged kids fine, but even with my pre-teen and young teen, it would not be easy.
Haven't got the den quote yet, but unless it's outrageously expensive, i think we will go for it. All the people who have teens and den have raved about it.

DH had a party with his diving club today and was showing off my gym progress photos. Turns out, one of his friends there is a bodybuilding coach, his clients are doing shows in the area. He had been quite impressed, DH says. Would it be totally crazy...I mean..they have all kinds of older ladies first time competitions? Mad, no?
