@26inprogress i was really disappointed to miss the grooming box last year and I did make a homemade version but it was hard work, expensive and a bit ‘samey’ I was happy to get it this year and I’m pleased you’ve gone for it too!
@Jins you are so brilliant with all your sewing! New Autumn 🍂 Winter ❄️ trousers sound amazing

BreezyPeer · 07/09/2026 07:44

@myladyjane @Jins
i had a killer cat about 20 years ago, He was a ginger Tom cat 🐈 beautiful, very affectionate and completely murderous! I had so many collars and bells for him but he just used to wriggle out of them. I loved him but he was a menace.
@Wtafmakeitstop Happy Autumn 🍂 to you too!

BreezyPeer · 07/09/2026 08:03

@DGmaintaining a lower plateau sounds great. All that travelling you have done well.
Its really interesting how different supplements affect us in different ways.
I haven’t heard the term ‘grammex’ before, I love it! Could do with one of them for whichever of my expansively long lived parents remains when one of them finally goes. I love them both dearly so am hoping for a long time yet.
@PenelopePitstopPersists i know what you mean about the site. I am actually a little bit pleased it has gone clunky as I was spending way too much time on it but I do miss this thread when I am away from it and all of you. You are literally the only people in the world who know about my MJ journey
@Polkadotdash is a factory reset the same as throwing the scales in @PenelopePitstopPersists ‘s skip?
I think that’s what I would have felt like doing
@HeidiLite if you fancy it you should absolutely go for the bodybuilding competition! It would be brilliant 🏋️

My news is that I am over the top end of my buffer zone at 11st 1.25 so I have taken 5mg today to try to get back on track.
I saw a menopause nutrition specialist who said some, at least, of my tiredness is connected to the intermittent fasting which had got quite extreme so I am trying to spread my calories out and see if I can feel better and drop a few Ibs before we get into Christmas party season
happy Monday everyone xxx

HeidiLite · 07/09/2026 12:36

happy Monday! I have always have murder cats, and no collars will stop them. The current younger one seems especially murderous, we are not letting him outdoors yet so he is trying to wrestle my 40 kilo dogs. It's a Kurilian Bobtail, they are known for their hunting skills.
I like how they describe the character: It’s also simple to teach your Kurilian bobtail the house rules, though your cat may or may not choose to follow them. Well duh, it's a cat..

Just lost a post when MN randomly refreshed and it took so long I’ve forgotten what I was saying.

Jabbed yesterday and feeling very suppressed this morning. I need to get back on titrating down after my holiday but then we’ll be in October and comfort food season so who knows. Don’t need to lose any more weight but absolutely love the fact that I’ve handed all responsibility for food choices and maintaining weight over to a jab. It’s the ultimate in delegation.

New trousers have been delayed as I’ve found a gorgeous piece of grey stretch denim in my stash so now I’m making some jeans style shorts for my holiday which is exactly what I said I didn’t need. I’m not very good at sticking to a plan - goodness knows how I managed at work all those years. Perhaps this is a retirement rebellion as I seem to have been doing the opposite of what I’ve said I’ll do for a couple of years now.

We’ve booked our first 2027 holiday which feels fab. Back to Bodrum in May for an all inclusive fly and flop.

cloudjumper · 08/09/2026 09:01

@BreezyPeerI‘ve had the same issue with intermittent fasting - tried so many times, but have come to the conclusion that it just doesn’t work for me. Too much stressing about eating windows, and I ended up just watching the clock until I could eat. And I’d be ravenous by the time my window ‚opened up‘ and would then just stuff my face. And yes, the tiredness/hangriness went to another level.

HeidiLite · 08/09/2026 10:17

ooh holiday talk - we have been booking our Sri Lanka hotels - 6 adults, 2 teens, one 3yo, so quite a crowd to cater to. Luckily sister and I will decide and others will just go along with whatever. Both our respective husbands are travel princesses and usually show up at airport asking where we are going. Which is how I like it, if we also had to get their input for every hotel and activity, we would never be done.

OP posts:
myladyjane · 08/09/2026 10:31

I would love to be a travel princess - I never am.

@Jins loving the shorts rebellion and the holiday booking. I am rubbish at holiday bookings as frankly I find them very stressful and it all falls to me to organise. I have to book some kind of trip for my mums 80th and still haven’t done that and it’s in less than 2 months….

@cloudjumper@BreezyPeer I also dont think intermittent fasting works for me. At the moment with my insane eating/appetite stuff I am having to go right back to basics and plan 3 meals and a snack of high volume low calorie stuff. I cannot wait until I can go back on mj, I really miss it.

ended up in gps again yesterday as whatever mad shit my thyroid is doing it really went dolally and I was shaking, dizzy, faint etc. still can’t treat it until after next weeks blood tests but she has told me to take it very easy/avoid stress/rest from work for a couple of days. It was a different gp this time (one of the senior ones) and she thinks that rather than Graves’ disease this is hashimotos and I am having a last ditch thyroid party. If that is the case, I am going back on the mj like a shot!

HeidiLite · 08/09/2026 11:45

I'm way too controlling to be a princess. Would think the entire time that I would have done it differently and better 😆

Omg me too 🤣. I’m the def planner in our house and I love it!! We loved Sri Lanka @HeidiLite, when are you going?

HeidiLite · 08/09/2026 12:16

@26inprogress for Xmas. We won't be too adventurous as have a 3yo with us, but planning a couple of different beaches, safari and also some nature and tea in Ella. Any tips and suggestions gladly welcomed.

We went when ds was 7, we went to Minneriya on safari, stayed in a treehouse midway down, did the train to Nurawa Eliya which was fab, had some time in Ella, went to Yala on another safari then finished on the south coast beaches. People were lovely, food amazing and driving v scary 🤣. It was quite a while ago now so no specific recommendations but it is incredible and on my list to revisit!

BreezyPeer · 09/09/2026 06:47

@cloudjumper i did well on the intermittent fasting but I have spoken with a menopause specialist nutritionist and she said my tiredness was partly due to my massive non eating window every day. She suggested I do it twice a week but I haven’t been able to figure that out.
i really need to stop the evening snacking again
i am today the heaviest I’ve been all year. It’s only a gain of 9 lbs all together but that’s like a lb a month which can’t go on so . . .
@HeidiLite @26inprogress i never considered Sri Lanka as a holiday destination but it sounds beautiful
Happy Wednesday everyone xxx

MJalltheway · 09/09/2026 07:22

Hi folks, it's been a while (again!).
had appointment for youngest yesterday and consultant confirmed what we'd suspected for a while - she has POTS. So now trying to get our heads around what that's going to mean for her going forwards particularly for gcse year. All my head space has been taken up with that and with being bone-crushingly exhausted myself. Had blood tests but nothing found yet. Oh and DS is off to uni this weekend as well, so also randomly bursting into tears about that too! 😭

Jins · 09/09/2026 07:47

You’re going through the mill there @MJalltheway so tearfulness is to be expected. Good to have a diagnosis though.

DH has just set off for the airport so fingers crossed his flight is ok after yesterday’s issues. I love him dearly but I’m looking forward to these 4 days without distractions.

These exotic far-flung holiday destinations sound amazing and I’m very envious. For ten years I was uninsurable for travel but I’m covered now so we’re playing catch up and aiming for quantity over quality at the moment. We have a vague plan to go back to Barbados in 2028 to celebrate our 35th anniversary in the location we got married but it’s not definite yet.

I had a massive freezer clear out yesterday and spent most of the afternoon batch cooking. Had a wonderful paella yesterday and there’s two fish pies and a beef bourgignon ready to be frozen for the future.

26inprogress · 09/09/2026 08:25

Oh @MJallthewaysending lots of love, what an emotional rollercoaster. Good to have a diagnosis on the one hand but on the other it’s understanding the support she needs. Really hope school are supportive and that dd gets everything she needs, sounds like she has a great mum which will go a long way. Hope ds has the best time at uni, I may have this to deal with next year and I can only imagine how you’re feeling. Really hope he settles in quickly and that you’re ok. Finally hope they quickly figure out what is going on with you as well. Exhaustion is horrible.

@myladyjane, hope you’re ok too and that you can take some time out from
work, sounds awful. When is your next appt? Take it easy. Can you outsource the 80th planning to a sibling?

@BreezyPeerand @cloudjumper, another intermittent faster here and I still find it works well, I don’t follow to the letter but have dinner around 7 and then either wait for lunch or if I’m hungry have yoghurt, seeds and berries earlier. Sorry you’re both finding it tricky.

@Jinshope DH gets away ok and that you get your break too! In awe as usual of your productivity with sewing, freezer sorting and cooking!! Well done on holiday booking for next year too!

Not a lot to report here, have been hungry so 3 pounds from holiday still here, home alone today which I’m excited about, holiday planning, job hunting and cooking, we seem to have endless friends/ girlfriend for dinner at the moment which is lovely but tiring, have lost my cooking mojo a bit!!

HeidiLite · 09/09/2026 08:33

@MJalltheway good to have a diagnosos, but yes sounds like you have a lot on your plate.

For intermittent fasting, I sort of do it because I'm not hungry in the mornings anyway. I usually only have my first snack around lunchtime, and I rarely eat lunch as such. But have always been that and it didn't help with weight loss.

I think I mentioned my kids insisted switching from private school to local comp. So far I am not impressed. The math stuff DD comes home with, she did that like 3 years ago. And both learning how to say 'my name is' in English - they are fluent. Would explain the French PISA test results. Hoping it's just the start of year and it improves at least a bit.

Polkadotdash · 09/09/2026 18:38

@myladyjane you sound like you are really going through it at the moment. Sending good vibes.

I too have a child off to Uni in the next couple of weeks. I’m really anxious about it. I’m over compensating by buying him shit for his room that he probably will not care about (a room scent diffuser and a nice box of tissues was yesterday’s random purchase. WTAF?) alongside all the sensible stuff he needs. I can’t imagine not seeing him every day. My husband thinks I’m mad.

I read a really interesting article yesterday about the relationship between oestrogen and GLP1. I can’t find the bloody thing again though. It was basically saying that women respond better to GLP1s than men and that women with higher levels of oestrogen have the better chance of losing more weight. This might explain why my weightloss completely stopped this time last year after I recovered from my hysterectomy.

Polkadotdash · 09/09/2026 18:42

I’m also really struggling at work this week. I absolutely hate it with a passion. I feel demotivated, isolated, under appreciated. I can go days without speaking to someone unless I make the effort. Even sometimes when I’m in the office. There is no sense of team or connectedness. All the work I do is usually scrapped or overwritten. I get to the end of every day and think ‘what’s the point if all this?’ It’s really getting me down.

HeidiLite · 09/09/2026 19:49

@Polkadotdash was it this study? https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11880690/

and sorry about work, it's so demotivating when you feel unappreciated.

OP posts:
Jins · 10/09/2026 09:37

Sorry that work is still miserable @Polkadotdash. We spend so much of our valuable time in work that at the very least it should be bearable.

This week I’ve been trying to push against the suppression and eat a little more by adding a snack mid afternoon. It’s a very strange feeling. I haven’t weighed myself and won’t for a few days which also feels strange as I’ve been a daily weigher forever. It’ll be interesting to see where my weight is at the end of the week.

Day 2 of peace and quiet and I’ve been working very hard on my jeans shorts. It’s been very soothing. I’m dropping DS2 at work later then I may have a potter around town.

Jins · 11/09/2026 08:44

DS1 sent me a referral code for Purdy and Figg and my sample pack arrived yesterday. I made the first one up (patchouli), cleaned the cloakroom with it then went to sort the chickens. Came back and tipped the whole bottle down the sink to get rid of it. The house still stinks of it this morning and it left streaks everywhere. Not impressed at all and have concluded that DS1 must have too much money.

Did a quick potter round town yesterday but my heart wasn’t in it and came home empty handed. Day 3 of peace and quiet so I’m going to have a quick blitz of the kitchen and get stuck into my sewing again. Only the waistband left to do.

MJalltheway · 12/09/2026 06:33

I've tried Purdy & figg before too and didn't rate it. I like the glass bottle and still use it, just with different cleaning stuff! Spruce is my favourite.

awake early today, feeling pretty awful because it's delivery to uni day and I spent ages yesterday drafting an email to school requesting the adjustments DD needs to try and cope with school and POTS. She cried for hours yesterday at how unfair it all is and how terrible she feels. 😢 I know how awful I felt when I found out I had pernicious anaemia, having to deal with a similar kind of illness and the impact of it as a teenager is so difficult.

sorry work is so rubbish @Polkadotdash , are you looking for something else?

Jins · 12/09/2026 09:33

Delivery to uni day was always lump in the throat time for me @MJalltheway so I hope it goes well. I really feel for your DD as well.

I’m trying to ignore your spruce recommendation but as the multipurpose refill is geranium I know I’m going to succumb. I just fancied something a bit posh for the cloakroom wc but it’s taken me 24 hours to get rid of the P&F stench so I’m wary.

Weighed in at 8st 4.8 so a gain of 1.6lbs this week which is a better weight for me I think. I do feel like I’ve been force feeding myself though. Somewhere there’s a happy medium but we are not people who have form for finding it are we?

MJalltheway · 12/09/2026 09:37

We certainly aren't! I feel like I've been mainlining chocolate for a couple of weeks, I need to find a better way to deal with stress.

DS is not at all fazed about uni, he's very excited to go, I just worry I won't hear from him until he's run out of cash 😂 I will actually see him again next week, it's his birthday so we're all traipsing down there to take him and girlfriend out for dinner.

Ive been using the Spruce cleaner for years, it's a very pleasant smell but not at all overpowering. I actually like Method's smells the best but trying to reduce plastic usage.
