New thread!

OP posts:
Jins · 02/04/2026 09:34

I’ve been trying clothes on again and it’s worse than I thought. I’ve reached the point in the exercise where nothing looks good. I tell a lie - there’s a long button up dress from Tesco that looks amazing despite being a size 16!!! My lack of arse isn’t helping with things either. I did a trial version of some trousers as shorts yesterday and it’s back to the drawing board.

I have a full tank! I have never in the 11 year history of owning this car paid more than £50 to fill up so that was a shock to the system although not as big a shock as DH had when filling up with diesel.

I’m still holding steady at 8st 8.2 but it’s time to drop a few clicks. I think my age is against me at this weight and I’ve got too much loose skin for my liking. I’m hoping that I may see some improvement in time.

Thelittlestranger · 02/04/2026 14:02

The irony that nothing looks good is not lost, now you have lost all the weight @Jins !!

I've been ultra good this week. Dropped my cals for a few days, no booze and have got right back to the bottom of my buffer. 3.5lbs down. Must have some water weight in there, but feels good that I could do it. It's given me a bit of a wake up call for going forwards - I was keeping the lower cals during the first part of the week up until about two months ago when it started creeping in.

Now I'm all set for my campervan trip, and some Easter treats 🤣

tinyemmy · 02/04/2026 16:28

Thank y@HeidiLitefor the new thread! I'm just checking in to say I have successfully lost 1lb this week whilst averaging 1640 calories per day which I'm ecstatic with. I didn't calorie count when losing on mj but when I did the odd check it was often around 1000 to 1200 calories and I thought that's where I would need to be to losem particularly when so light. Fingers crossed I can stay on these calories as it doesn't feel that restrictive so there's less boom and bust and I haven't been off binge eating.
I was lucky not to lose any hair, although it's quite thin anyway thanks to hypothyroidism.
I've really got into the gym. I started with once per week in March last year, twice by June and now up to at least three, usually four strength circuits per week. I'm really enjoying it plus I think it's made a huge difference to my body. I'm sure my jeans are much looser than they were when I was this same weight a few years ago. I do have wrinkly skin, particularly on my belly but I think that's from the two pregnancies so not much I can do about that.
I've got 7lbs to go to get back into the top of my target range and I do think it's doable. I don't know whether I will achieve it before my holiday in May (particularly with being away for the long Easter weekend) but actually I don't mind and I think that's key to avoid the binge-restrict cycle that I've had for many years. I may have finally beaten it! 🤞

HeidiLite · 02/04/2026 16:32

Oh muscle totally makes a massive difference. I have a high school reunion coming up and was just looking at some old photos. I actually weigh about the same right now, maybe a little less. But I did absolutely 0 sports, which means I am now 2 or even 3 sizes smaller.

OP posts:
26inprogress · 03/04/2026 04:27

Happy long weekend everyone, hope all who are away have a fab time and that you all enjoy some time off!
sounds like you’ve cracked it @tinyemmy, I’m so pleased!

hi @hunkydory54congratulations on the almost 4 stone. Hope you’re ok, holiday plans sound fab!!

hope you managed to get fuel @Jins, things don’t seem too bad round here at the moment.

Well done @Thelittlestranger and enjoy your camper van!

I’ve lost 1/2 pound this week, forgot to jab so will do that on Monday. Someone has used a referrral code I was given for Bolt ( I didn’t share it!) so going to reorder with them but then looking to move to Pharmulous I think. We’re at the airport waiting for flight to Stockholm, weather forecast not great, lots of rain, hopefully that’s wrong but regardless I can’t wait!!

🐣🐣🐣

tinyemmy · 03/04/2026 07:14

Enjoy Stockholm @26inprogress

HeidiLite · 03/04/2026 08:53

sorry about the weather, April in Scandinavia can indeed vary. But there are plenty of things to do indoors as well, hope you enjoy!

Getting nicer here again. Of course the trouble with spring sun is that my house does not look as clean as it did in the winter and I do like to keep it reasonably clean and tidy. I see some window washing in my near future, oh the fun.

Did a combat class yesterday and the regular instructor had an apprentice with him. but OMG he was sooooo bad. And I'm not talking about bad because he was just learning how to be an instructor, we all started somewhere - he clearly could not hear the music at all and had the most horrendeous technique you would maybe expect from a first time participant. It was so distracting. I think I will actually need to go and offer my services to the gym before that guy starts doing any classes.

OP posts:
PenelopePitstopPersists · 03/04/2026 10:21

Happy Easter everyone.

@26inprogress fingers crossed that the forecast is wrong. We endured non stop rain in Stockholm recently but spent most of our trip in museums, galleries and restaurants so survived, I can’t remember what age your DC are. Hopefully you’ll get a good run.

Weight static here, I’d still like to lose about four pounds but it doesn’t seem to be happening. My appetite is still suppressed, not sure if this is the new normal. I was hungry one day in the week and ate a ciabatta roll with fruit and lentil crisps for lunch and then couldn’t eat again in the evening.

Is anyone else sick of buying clothes 😬, the changing season means I need more clothes, t shirts, jeans, golf clothes - the whole range 💰, exercise clothes - my XL sweaty betty leggings fell down mid week in yoga 😭.

I’d replaced all my winter clothes, but spring brings a new clothing challenge. I’m ok for work clothes in smaller sizes because I’d saved them in the loft. I feel like I’m being very spendy, but I guess it will pass once I get past summer. I just need to ensure I stay the same size going forward.

Have a lovely Easter 🐣 everyone.

Thelittlestranger · 03/04/2026 11:17

I bought a load of summer clothes last year, so hoping the spend won't be too bad this time round. Proud that I've managed to keep it off.

@tinyemmy that is a real light bulb moment. We are similar heights, and I can average 1650 cals per day when I'm exercising and not gain. It's definitely doable.

@26inprogress enjoy Stockholm!

DGmaintaining · 03/04/2026 11:53

Last full day in Madeira and we fly home tomorrow. Have a relaxed day today, just hanging out and reading in the villa by the pool.

@26inprogress highly recommend taking the cable car up to Monte in Funchal and taking a wander around the botanical gardens (if you’re into that sort of thing), then doing the toboggan ride down. Pro-tip (which we only figured out afterwards) get the earliest ride up on the cable car, walk round to the toboggan place and buy your tickets first before wandering around the garden. We didn’t do this and queued for 15mins to buy tickets then another 30mins in the queue for the toboggan.
Also recommend the 25 Fontes hike - there’s a great restaurant about 10mins drive from there called Calheta Green.
We’re in the Calheta area so Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar are cute little villages to wander round. Paul do Mar has more little cafes.

HeidiLite · 03/04/2026 12:17

I see some vinting of summer clothes in my near future. I expect they still mostly fit, but last summer I got so excited because so many clothes were so flattering and made me look slim. Turns out it wasn't the clothes. So I have now gone off many things I excitedly bought.

Sorry I meant to tag @MJalltheway not 26!

myladyjane · 03/04/2026 16:33

I got some summer clothes this morning. I am trying really hard to just buy what I wear so am genuinely not trying to buy much but I don’t have anything from last summer that would work. It’s just so bits from next but they go together and are all cotton so practical but look nice. I have promised myself some new sunnies this year as my summer treat.

nice day here which the weather didn’t ruin. Lie in then lunch and cinema with my baby girls. We had pizza express and I ate the pizza in 2 batches - 2/3 there and the rest cold just now with a cup of tea. Saw the magic faraway tree which all 3 of us enjoyed- given they will be revising solidly for most of the hols now it was a lovely mum/daughter day.

my weight seems to have settled so I think I will use April to see if I can get 3 more lbs off (which means more protein and veg, less pizza) but fine if no. Then think I will very gently start titrating down….

Jins · 04/04/2026 08:27

I’ve done a flurry of alterations so I now have some linen trousers, a dress and two tops that look better. I’m not the biggest fan of doing alterations but these items were worth saving. I’ve made a start on new swimwear but getting the fit right always takes longer than it should. So at least I’ll have a couple of things to wear when the weather warms up.

I jabbed yesterday and unusually I was feeling quite a bit of suppression by the evening. All plans to eat went by the by as it got to 8 and I still couldn’t decide what I wanted. Probably need to titrate down a bit quicker but I’m conscious of a stockpile with a minimum of 6 months of my current dose. I did think I’d end up maintaining on 5mg but I may get away with 2.5. Fingers crossed for that!

DS2 has been having issues with a slightly senior colleague for a few weeks now. It’s a classic case of workplace bullying in my eyes but he’s now got a misconduct investigation next week for 3 separate allegations. Two are completely vexatious so they’ll be quickly dealt with but he can’t defend swearing at her. I’ve said to admit it, apologise and explain why but it’s a big worry for him. Why do we as mothers go into protecting our cubs mode for so long?

MJalltheway · 04/04/2026 08:50

Thank you @DGmaintaining ! We're going to be near Funchal and I'm definitely planning on the toboggan so that's really handy 😁
Had a lovely trip to see family and a spa day with DSis this week but the travelling didn't help my back issues. Going to be blasting it with massage and physio over next couple of weeks. I'm not patient enough to deal with a back injury, I want it fixed NOW!
@Jins i think it's a lifelong thing I'm afraid! Always going to be your cubs. I have to consciously stop myself from coming to the rescue at times to let them figure things out themselves.

nothing to report weight wise, still stable since January. I'm averaging 1800-1900 calories

PenelopePitstopPersists · 04/04/2026 09:07

@MJalltheway I had a massage yesterday and am feeling very sore today. My upper back and shoulders are an issue and I've had a lot of headaches recently and a couple of migraines, so need to get back into the habit of regular massages.

My new sports clothes have started to arrive. I find the brand I like fits quite small and was in an XL a year ago, when I took the S tops out of the bag I thought .... no way - they only fit! I don't like a tight fit when golfing so am doubly suprised tbh.

Very cold here this morning and I am really feeling the cold at the minute. Planning on spending the day sorting out my wardrobes and clothes storage.

myladyjane · 04/04/2026 11:04

I had a lovely run this morning (who tf have I become). Really didn’t want to do it but dd has athletics for an hour and it’s a 15 min drive so not worth doing anything other than staying and watching or running. Very sluggish to start but soon got into it and my knee is behaving well thankfully.

work complaints are hard to deal with - I am involved with a doozy at the moment. Whilst unprofessional, swearing at your boss isn’t great but not the worst thing hr will have seen so you are right. But also is it the right role for him? As we all know, shit bosses grind you down so should he look for something else?

Jins · 04/04/2026 11:33

@myladyjane the swearing is not as bad as it sounds tbh. He works for a supermarket and he manages checkouts when he’s in so he organises breaks and cover etc. The person making the complaint isn’t his boss, it’s someone on a slightly higher grade who technically acts as duty manager but they never get involved with checkouts. DS2 is a tall weed and seems to be targeted by the overly ambitious. It’s a stupid pecking order thing that the worst managers do so they can demonstrate how good they are. His actual boss who is doing the investigation is a good one and I’m confident that at worst it’ll be a verbal warning for the swearing. He has witnesses to confirm she’d been pecking his head for weeks. He of course thinks he’s going to be sacked and publicly removed from the store.

I now have a bikini that fits! Shame it’s in a pink fabric I don’t think I’d be seen dead in.

HeidiLite · 04/04/2026 11:57

ah sorry to hear about cub's work stress @Jins , but yes hopefully just a slap on the wrist. And hope karma gets the evil colleague.

@PenelopePitstopPersists same same! I got a gorgeous bikini from that veepee sales site that arrived just this morning, a French brand I had not tried before. So took it out of packaging and thought that ah darn it, I know some French brands fit small, really should have gone up a size. No, fits perfectly. Really happy with it.

My weight has creeped up a bit higher than I would want to, need to rein the snacking in a bit and maybe add a touch more cardio. However, the muscle growth is noticeable with a bit higher calorie consumption, so I'm a bit torn..
This evening having dinner at friend's who is an amazing cook, have to squeeze some sports in before that.

OP posts:
PenelopePitstopPersists · 04/04/2026 13:16

It feels like a brain disconnect @HeidiLite, looking at clothes and thinking, oh no that looks way too small, everything I've bought fits and I really didn't expect it to.

I must have a bit of amnesia because I have just come across a pair of jeans that I must have bought last month, I've bought them again since.

Polkadotdash · 04/04/2026 13:50

Happy Easter weekend all. I was fit for nothing yesterday so I did a bit of cleaning and napped. I’m not fairing very well against the Easter chocolate temptation. It is my favourite kind of chocolate and it will all be gone from the shops tomorrow. I’m also avoiding weighing in. First week back on 7.5mg and I can tell my appetite is lower, but it’s leading me to not be bothered about meals and just snacking to get through.
I’m also fairing worse on Vinted. I bought a hoodie that is an expensive brand and when it arrived it had dried SNOT on the arm. The seller went absolutely berserk at me when I complained, saying they thought I was out of order to expect a second hand hoodie to be stain free. This has shades of the seller who sent me the cat hair covered top and told me it was easy to wash it off so should stop moaning. I’m really not in the mood for this shite today.

HeidiLite · 04/04/2026 13:57

I have also had some items arriving totally filthy and stinking, usually sold as 'never worn'. Some people have no shame.

OP posts:
Polkadotdash · 04/04/2026 14:10

It honestly makes me so so glad I don’t work in retail. I couldn’t put up with people’s attitudes and lack of shame.

cupfinalchaos · 04/04/2026 14:44

FrothyCothy · 31/03/2026 10:28

Venturing over from the Jan 2026 starters thread to ask if any of you had taken or tried anything for hair loss that actually worked? I already try to wash my hair as few times a week as I can get away with and only brush it in the shower when full of conditioner to minimise breakage but it’s definitely coming out at a rate of knots - I’m not even losing weight that quickly so feels unfair 😆 tell me your positive stories of regrowth!

The only thing that’s worked for me is half a tablet daily of Minoxidil. I now have 3 inches of regrowth. No side effects and starting Munjaro didn’t make a difference, although I only took 2.5 and am weaning myself off as lost more than I wanted to on it!

PenelopePitstopPersists · 04/04/2026 17:13

Honestly, what on earth are these people thinking of when they sell on Vinted.

I listed a pure silk velvet top for £12.50 a couple of months ago, when I was packing it for sale I noticed a crushed bit, tiny, 3-4mm of crushed velvet, so I messaged the buyer and sent a photo, they chose not to buy it. Fine, some of the stories you are telling are so shocking. Snot!

I have to say that I feel really free having given everything to charity. I don't want to think of the purchase cost of the clothes I gave away to be honest. But, I just could not be bothered with buyers asking five or six questions on a piece of clothing I'd listed for £15 which cost a couple of hundred and has been worn a handful of times.

I start my new job next week and I just wanted rid, two floor to ceiling wardrobes worth, gone - it feels really good, plus they have all gone to a good cause. Still more to go through in the loft but that can wait a month or so.
