had a training day today - Lesmills instructor ones, so did bodypump, bodyjam, attack and combat one after the other. Exercise is certainly much easier when lighter!

But honestly can't things just work. One of our cars broke down and garage fucked up sending the claim where it supposed to go, so massive delays with everything. Airline cancelled the first leg of our SriLanka flights. Will put us on another one, but OMG the agent I talked to was sloth in Zootopia in previous life. An hour! I was on the phone with him for an hour for such a simple everyday thing. "Thank you for waiting madam, can i put you on hold while I check some things.. "
Sent a message with some requests to one of our Sri Lanka hotels and they came back claiming we only have one room booked.Well my confirmation clearly reads 2..I'm sure it will all be sorted but I'm tired enough.

Happy weekend losers!

I’m roughly 60-61kg and maintaining. Today I lifted 70kg in my deadlift which is the heaviest I’ve done for a long time. It was very slow coming off the floor so I expect to feel that tomorrow! I used to strength train more and got up to 90kg but that was 8 years ago.

I’ve been feeling rather ‘meh’ earlier this week. I’m hoping that it’s delayed jet lag, the change in weather, and that if I stay on the lower dose that maybe the anhedonia will clear by itself. I’m doing end of year reviews and my team has done brilliantly, but I do feel like I’ve hit that point in the cycle where it’s time for me to move on and keep my brain ticking. All that’s happening is me taking more on and getting a bigger team because what else are they gonna do?

Anyway, have made batch cooking plans which always makes me feel like a productive human and less like a work bot.

Good luck to all the uni goers! DS1 is that age but he’s still doing GCSEs so not sure we’ll ever be doing the drop-off for him. DS2 has 4 years to go.

PenelopePitstopPersists · 13/09/2026 08:59

Hi everyone, 😿for those with kids off to uni for the first time. It is so wonderful to see our kids grow and thrive, but tough too.

I always thought I would do so much more when home alone, as DC2 needed a lot of emotional support and reassurance, so I tried to be here as much as I could while they were still at home. The reality is that I go to work, come home and carry on with exactly what I did before 😅because I am too knackered to do much else.

I've had a tough week food wise, I was out quite a bit, did quite a bit physically, spent some time at uni working with my department on my p/t commitment and everything I went to involved a carb fest. It made me realise how few carbs I ate on a regular basis, I feel really sluggish and bloated and I have gained 2kg. I know this cannot be possible in five days, but I doubt I'll ever feel able to take my eye off the ball.

I'm about to plan my recipes for the week using up what I have got in the fridge, planning on a mostly carb free week. I'm back at uni for two days so will make sure I take salady things with me to avoid the uni cafe.

myladyjane · 13/09/2026 09:33

Good luck to all those off to uni. I find it interesting reading as although this is 2 years in the future, mine will go at the same time so I will go from house full to just dh in one weekend. A good friend of mine is sending hers off next weekend and she’s excited for them but also had a little wobble on me the other day.

for those who are feeling like they are hitting the carbs hard, channel your inner squirrel! You are stocking up for winter. At the moment I am leaning into the defective thyroid and eating everything in sight. The difference for me is, admittedly, that I am not gaining and in fact lost last week but I have a whole organ that isn’t working so perhaps not the best role model. I have decided that I am probably going to restart on 2.5 next week for the anti inflammatory and insulin regulation. I have been doing heaps of reading and this is going to be super important to me going forward.

wishes for a lovely week ahead for all. I have some leopard print trainers to launch which I think we’ll all agree is a huge positive

Jins · 13/09/2026 09:56

Morning all! DH due back this afternoon and if I’m honest I could have done with an extra day but here we are.

I’m trying not to google leopard print trainers as my shoe collection is insane. I’m very light on shoes. Still have a pair from school and uni days so as you can imagine there are storage issues. Shoes and bags are my downfall. Along with refillable deodorants and cleaning products it seems. 😡

I’ve finished my ‘jeans’ shorts and attached a pic to show you why I make my own clothes. I’m so pleased with the fit of these and the length is perfect to roll up with a reasonable cuff. There are lots of things I’m not happy with so the full length version is on the back burner while I work out adjustments.

Hope the rest of the weekend is a good one.

HeidiLite · 13/09/2026 12:49

reading all uni experiences with interest, mine are still in middle school.

@Jins yes I can see why you make your own clothes, the shorts look - well, obviously - like they are made for you. Perfect fit everywhere, not sagging in one place while too tight in another.

I am still struggling with my new shape and the syle I need to fit this. Because my entire life I have known that I can't wear X because of Y. No chunky knits as they make me look bigger. No high necks, as I have big boobs. Cowl and v-necks that I used to exclusively wear now look weird and flappy. Jewellery should not be delicate, won't look good on a bigger woman - now's the opposite, a chunky necklace makes me look like a 5yo who has raided mum's jewellery box. Well, all that is no longer correct and I don't know what to wear..I feel like a teenager trying to figure it all out.

OP posts:
Zempy · 13/09/2026 13:13

Shorts look great @Jins, you are so clever!

@HeidiLite I have been thinking about when to do the seasonal wardrobe swap but I’m a bit worried about it because I’m sure I have gained weight over the summer. I’m too scared to weigh myself 🤣

Jabbed 7.5 on Friday and I think I feel slightly better suppression. I think I have been buying too many biscuits, and the bounty makes me just plough through them.

I need to go back to having one packet a week. It’s definitely sweet stuff rather than simply carbs that are my downfall.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

myladyjane · 13/09/2026 14:07

@HeidiLite I am similar. I can’t do too oversized because I’m short and I look overwhelmed now, I can’t do prints (never really did but now I really can’t), my poor boobs are just a bit sorry for themselves so I can’t lead with them like I always used to. Being over 50 as well and moving to a different life stage means I am feeling somewhat in the wilderness in terms of clothes/beauty. But with a smaller arse

Jins · 14/09/2026 07:27

I’m definitely in the style wilderness. To be fair my formative style years moved through punk into 80s goth so I’ve ended up as a classic jeggings and oversized top person. The uniform of the apples. Even in my 40s which were my Atkins years I never really took the time to learn what suited me. Now I’m sagging and wrinkly and I’m drawn to clothes that quite frankly give mutton dressed as lamb vibes. I count my lucky stars that I don’t have to worry about work wear any more.

Early start for me as the cat has been bellowing outside the room since 5.20 am. I’m not pandering to him, he can wait for his breakfast.

Despite Shotsy confirming I’ve got a decent level of MJ on board I’m feeling like I could eat everything in front of me. It’s going to be a tough day

HeidiLite · 14/09/2026 08:01

I am very much in my mutton as lamb era. Miniskirts and tiny tops. But - I never wore miniskirts when I was a lamb, so first I need to make up fo that. Plus, I think times have changed, you don't need to swap for a housecoat and perm in Golden Girls style the minute you turn 35.
I've worked hard to build what I think are quite reasonable muscles, I want to show them off.

Wtafmakeitstop · 14/09/2026 19:08

Sorry to hear of various stresses, sending solidarity and good thoughts to all. I’m feeling far too stressed to do anything other than maintain at the moment, need to get back to the gym and also get through current workload.

@HeidiLite its a while ago we were in Sri Lanka but it was so fab. Accommodation highlights were glamping in Yala and the Heritance Kandalama hotel, but so many great memories of jaw-dropping sights, fantastic food and of course elephants.

26inprogress · 14/09/2026 22:14

Hope uni drop offs went ok and dc are settling in well. Hope you manage to get the support your dd needs @MJallthewayAnd that you’re ok.
I wrote a v long post yesterday but system glitched and I lost it so apologies, I know I’ve missed loads.
I’ve had a terrible week, new job fell through, issues getting paid for the work I did do and my eating has been really really awful, I have been bingeing and stress eating like I haven’t done since pre MJ days😳. I think I have one dose left in my 5mg pen and plan to extract the rest so will take up to 10mg, I need to get this under control…

Hope you all have good weeks.

myladyjane · 15/09/2026 09:29

Ah @26inprogress that sounds shite. I hope things improve super quick

Jins · 15/09/2026 09:58

That does sound shite @26inprogress. Hope things look up for you.

I’ve given up with the MN website and switched to the app. It’s faster but I don’t seem to be able to find where notifications are or go straight to new posts in threads I’m following. If it wasn’t for you lot I think I’d have given up with MN completely.

This time next week I’ll be packing for Malta and I can’t wait. Research has started into GF menus and it’s looking positive so far.

PenelopePitstopPersists · 15/09/2026 15:53

@26inprogress that sounds really tough. Hopefully it is just a life blip and you will be out of the other side very soon.

I think it is harder to keep up with posts since we are not here quite so much as before. I miss a lot.

Nice day off here, I played golf in the sunshine earlier, a bit too breezy at times, but dry and 12000 steps.

26inprogress · 15/09/2026 20:04

Thanks everyone, I know it’ll get better, it was just a lot last week and on top of that ds received his predicted A level grades for UCAS/ Degree Apprenticeships and they were a bit of a shock! He’s upset but burying his head in the sand and v difficult talking to him!
i used a syringe to remove I think a bit 10mg but I’ve no idea how much I actually injected vs spilt!!
In other news I’ve been researching prices and have discovered Medicine Marketplace who seem quite a lot less than their places, have just placed an order and done the video/ photos etc, £198 for a 10mg pen 🤞🏻

HeidiLite · 16/09/2026 06:21

we had another round of layoffs, we knew it was coming, was already planned early this year. Process is that there is the general announcement and then people affected will be called for a meeting with ther manager and HR. Aaaand I immediately get a meeting request from the boss to 'announcement follow up'. Those couple of hours before the meeting were mildly stressful, let me tell you.
But turns out the change for us means I actually get additional 2 reports.

But boss wants to move my best employee to another team and I am not sure what's behind that. On the one hand, we discussed rotations and she really wants to learn about their work. On the other hand, she and the manager there will not get along. Not one bit. There will be issues. Boss acknowledged that and said that we need to make sure we then protect my employee. I also know from reputable sources that my boss does not like the manager and would love for her to leave - is this a plot to force her out?

OP posts:
Zempy · 16/09/2026 06:58

So sorry @26inprogress that is a lot of 💩 to deal with at once. I hope you are being kind to yourself. It will all work out eventually but I can understand your frustration.

Malta is great @Jins. Did you go before or was that someone else?

@HeidiLite that sounds tricky. I do wish senior managers had more inclination to take action against shit managers who can cause so much damage in an organisation.

I seem to be slightly better on 7.5 but tbh not as suppressed as I would like to be. I may have to go back to 10 which sounds bloody expensive!!

Jins · 16/09/2026 08:34

Yes we went to Malta the same time last year. Staying in the same hotel this time and the plan is to visit a few things we missed and more importantly meet up with my school friend again.

Busy day on paperwork today. I’ve got to finalise a local plan representation and my heart is most definitely not in it, especially since I haven’t been keeping up with things at all since I retired. Which is of course the whole point of retiring.

I’m not quite ready for a wardrobe swap but I’m going to try to sort some of the summer stuff that won’t be going away with me. I’ve got my compression packing cubes at the ready. Quite a bit didn’t get much wear this year so I need to be sensible about whether to keep it or not.

HeidiLite · 16/09/2026 11:38

I really need to be more ruthless with wardrobe. Still the same issue that 80% of time I wear 20% of my clothes. Need a bit of kick in the backside here that when swapping wardrobe, if I did not wear the item once over summer, straight to Vinted or charity. Not back in the basement just in case and it's a nice thing and I could in theory wear it..
Like I have one specific skirt I really like in 4 different colours. One I wear all the time, one I wore once, other 2 have been just hanging there. What's the point?

OP posts:
cloudjumper · 19/09/2026 08:28

I think I also need another wardrobe clearout 🤔 I changed everything when I lost the weight, but I bought too much and now don’t wear about 50%. Trying to figure out my ‚style‘ for want of a better word. Same with shoes…
It’s autumn, and as with every year, dark purple is everywhere in the shops again - I love that colour, but I just can’t wear it 😭 it washes me out and makes me look like death. First world problems 🙄

Sympathy with everyone struggling with/at work, I’m with you. I’m inches away from a formal performance management, and am now looking for another job. I have never been in this situation, and I’m so stressed I feel ill. I definitely have made mistakes, but the pressure we’re being put under to deliver a huge amount of projects while being utterly underresourced is just insane. It also seems to be a personality clash with my line manager - she’s a total extrovert and always in your face, I’m really quiet and want to get my head down and get on with it. So I’m now applying for another job and planning my exit strategy…. Thing is that my team are lovely, and we’re all gotten really close-knit, trying to wrangle this client. But I need to look after myself now.

HeidiLite · 19/09/2026 16:41

Winter colours are not my best, more challenging to find pastel colours that suit me. Too dark or anything rust coloured does not work at all. And yes definitely bought too much because all clothes were just so flattering and slimming. Took me a while to figure out it was not the clothes, I'm just slim myself now.

We also have something funny going on at work. My boss is making some odd decisions, I can see he is playing some kind of complicated chess with people, but I don't understand what the desired outcome is supposed to be. Moving people around even while admitting this will cause problems, funny recruitment processes etc - me and 2 of my peers all got extra headcount but boss did the job ads himself and didn't even share, very very unusual. And - I get to recruit mine, but my peers don't, boss will do theirs. Bizarre.

OP posts:
HeidiLite · 19/09/2026 16:45

@cloudjumper but absolutely, direct manager will make the biggest difference. People don't leave jobs, they leave managers. And many companies think that someone who is a really good specialist must be promoted to manager - two totally different skillsets. Then that good specialist but shit manager will have people leaving right, left and centre and company does nothing..

OP posts:
DGmaintaining · 20/09/2026 17:45

Hello losers!

Sorry to hear of work woes. @26inprogress very sorry to hear the new job fell through, fingers crossed another one comes along.

I hope you’re tracking the unfair work requests @cloudjumper if you feel under unsustainable pressure and you’ve raised your concerns, be good to have it recorded somewhere in case it does escalate to a performance review before you’ve found a new job. But I get that moving on is also in your best interests.

Hope your inherited direct reports aren’t too difficult to take on @HeidiLite and I know what you mean about someone who is a top performer not always thriving if paired with the wrong manager. Exactly that happened to one of mine who moved into another team (to move from FTC to perm), she was utterly depressed and felt so devalued. The VP had to step in and give her a dotted line to another manager to help fix it.

I have officially thrown my hat into the ring for a VP role that isn’t due to come up until January. The hiring SVP has had my name recommended a few times now but thought I should reach out directly just to confirm I am interested. I also need to think about what happens if I don’t get it. I have to start looking at what else is out there and lining up my next move. I reckon I’m three years away from hitting the ceiling on my level’s salary bracket. So it’ll be two years when HR start looking at me and thinking they could replace me with someone much cheaper.

In lighter news, I’m also thinking I need to re-evaluate my wardrobe. But paying off various holiday credit card bills first, and DH looking for a job, so am going to sit on my hands and make do with what I already have till end of next month.

I kept at 2mg today - my 90th jab. Ten weeks till I hit the 100 jab milestone which is a strange thing to mark/celebrate! I ordered another 2 x 5mg pens at the bundle price with Oushk which isn’t really that much of a saving. It’s £170 for one pen, £313 for two. Waiting to see if they’ll actually approve it as my last order was in May, so they might change one of the pens to 2.5mg. Not as cost effective, but I can’t keep too many in the fridge.

PenelopePitstopPersists · Yesterday 07:16

@DGmaintaining , best of luck at work.

It's really telling how many of us have had so many issues at work over the life of our threads isn't it. I feel like I am done with it tbh. Right now am planning to make the best of it somewhere ..... until I can retire. I feel generally worn out and like I cba .... despite having a new job to look forward to in less than two weeks. Perhaps I should consider HRT. My GP did find something I could take recently, but I wimped out.

Weight static. I can't believe how long we have been here.
