Afternoon Comrades!
Happy almost weekend 😊

GeraniumRoseblush · 29/08/2025 15:04

Checking into the new thread 👋 haven't posted for ages but have been reading everyone's successes and NSVs, some great wins happening 🎉

I've lost 20lbs since early May so a car tire. Compared to many on here, that's glacial progress over 4 months and honestly my inner toddler has sometimes not coped well 😅
My losses go like this - drop a lb or 2, then go up higher than before and then inch back down again. So I lose a lb every 10 days or so 😬
Still, overall its going down so maybe by 2027 I'll have lost half a stone to finally hit a healthy BMI 🙂

Current stats are:
SW 11st 12
CW 10st 6
Healthy BMI range starts 10st

Just in the last week or 2 I've had people ask whether I've lost weight and my clothes are definitely looser so I'm now starting to look for some new bits - hurrah! How's everyone managing buying new clothes on the journey downwards? Just using Vinted or any other suggestions?

SutekhsEars · 29/08/2025 16:52

Well done @GeraniumRoseblush I'm a slow loser too. It feels more manageable to me - I think if I lost too quickly I'd put it all back on quickly too - although that could be good old self sabotage talking!
I'm 'shopping my wardrobe' or the suitcase under my bed with all my old clothes in it! I've reduced the number of clothes I have out - I'm doing a half-hearted version of Project 333 which is a lot easier than it sounds. I'll swap my clothes round when school goes back, as the weather has turned. I might need to go bra shopping though.

Foreveronaplane · 29/08/2025 17:00

Afternoon. Thank you for the thread. I finda the insight and chat really helpful!

Last few weeks have been rough. I’m still on 5mg but wasn’t sure if I’d stay on it but have decided to go another week and see if it improves. Week 15 and 28llbs down. It really is a phenomenal aid.

GeraniumRoseblush · 29/08/2025 19:23

Yes good point @SutekhsEars I've also been fishing out bits of my old wardrobe from the pile ready to be taken to charity shops so thats quite satisfying! Will take a closer look at Project 333, sounds interesting.

I've decided now is the time for me to go for an updated modern classic style so any new clothes that I buy are all going to have to be part of a 'look'. I'll need help that's for sure, I'm not really a fashionista 😅

MyScaredCat · 29/08/2025 19:53

I’ve cleared out loads of my wardrobe as the baggy clothes look wasn’t a good one. Lots to charity shops and lots on Vinted.
i have bought a few pairs of jeans, mostly in sales. I also found lots in my wardrobe that I haven’t been able to wear for 10+ years. Did have to urgently splash out on new bras. Although I already need smaller again 🙈

loads telling me this week I look even smaller. I’m really no different weight wise than when I saw them last. But I am wearing clothes my size rather than too big and it makes such a difference

DBatteryBand · 30/08/2025 07:39

Feeling very uffish. No weight loss at all this week. Humph.

If I was a different sort of person, I would now leap into my trainers and go for a ten mile walk to try to nudge things along. Instead I have gone back to bed and pulled the duvet over my head. At least I didn't take the biscuit tin with me.

lissie123 · 30/08/2025 09:30

Just having a wardrobe sort out this morning. Loads of jeans and work trousers now too big. Some of my trousers are old friends and I’m sad to let them go but they are going to be sold or to the charity shop. Bras are a problem- definitely need a couple of new ones. Plus some work dresses too I’m going to sell- they look like sacks on me, which is good in one way but I loved them and have to say goodbye to them. 😔

lissie123 · 30/08/2025 09:33

@GeraniumRoseblush yes I think Vinted is your friend. I’ve just bought a couple of pairs of jeans from Vinted. Tried them on new in the shops to check sizes and then bought them for a lot cheaper on Vinted. Selling on Vinted also good too.

Seahorsesplendour · 30/08/2025 09:42

@DBatteryBand sending hugs! It is a Rubbish feeling!!

Hoping the duvet hiding brings some comfort!! I would be doing that too today tbh if it wasn’t for ds & guests coming later!! 🙈

Maybe you’ll feel more like a bit of activity later!!

I'm avoiding the scales as just don’t want to know after a week of hardly any suppression or control!!! I’m blaming Donald Trump for the increase in comfort eating 🤣 oh the irony!!

anyhow I topped up by 2.5mg first thing this morning and already feel more in control which must be psychological but I’ll take it!!!

@lissie123 & @GeraniumRoseblush you’re both doing better than me!! I haven’t brought anything new I think I'm scared too but I really do need to as my Choice of what doesn’t look ridiculously big is minuscule now so that may be my aim for this week!!

happy Saturday everyone!!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 30/08/2025 09:52

Still feel like death warmed up. Couldn't even manage a glass of wine last night, the idea of it made me feel worse.
No weight loss this week. My stomach is quite swollen and I feel so poorly.

SutekhsEars · 30/08/2025 10:00

Those who are replacing bras - please consider donating old ones in reasonable condition to smallsforall.org if your local charity shop won't take them.

Oh poor you, hope you feel better soon x

DBatteryBand · 30/08/2025 10:28

@Seahorsesplendour Thanks for the sympathy! I am now up, dressed (in a top I haven't been able to get into for 12 years) and have spent much time slathering nice-smelling unguents onto my wrinkly old skin. I am feeling much more positive and will go for a brisk walk in a bit.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Look after yourself. You might have an actual lurgy, rather than it being MJ related.

GeraniumRoseblush · 30/08/2025 10:28

@MyScaredCat @lissie123 @Seahorsesplendour yes I'm partly in the baggy clothes look too. I think people notice the weightloss more when you wear different clothes to the ones they're used to seeing you in.

I dropped into M&S yesterday purely to try sizing, grabbed styles I'd never normally choose and they all fit 😁 I'm in size 12 tops and bottoms!! Don't think I've had a size 12 top for at least 15 years as I have ze boobies so that was a nice bit of motivation to cling to when my glacial speed of weightloss threatens to take me down 😅

@DBatteryBand sending strength! It's a crap feeling, that's for sure.
@DidILeaveTheGasOn hope you feel better soon.

ElsieJay · 30/08/2025 17:35

@DBatteryBand and @DidILeaveTheGasOn -hope you’re both feeling a lot better this afternoon, and the brisk walk did the trick for you, DBB.
Wet and miserable day here, after a promising start tempted me to put washing on the line - which promptly got rained on when I nipped to the shop 🙄.

Thanks, @SutekhsEars , for the information about the nearly-new bra donation charity.
I’ve saved the details for the wardrobe cull I’ve promised myself for next month.
Hoping to uncover some old favourites, I have far, far too many clothes which I’ve hoarded and the cull is long overdue.

Seahorsesplendour · 30/08/2025 19:13

@ElsieJay also wet & miserable here!!

Have spent an hour or so doing random dancing game things on YouTube with my ds after our walk got rained off!! Still managed a game of football in the rain 🙈 anyway it made up for not doing a work out this morning!! 🤣

@DidILeaveTheGasOn hope you’re feeling a bit better? I also wonder if something else going on for you?

@DBatteryBand hope you’re having a stayed dry if you made it out!!!

it was lovely to catch up with my friends today but none of them said anything about weight loss which was slightly annoying!!! 😂🤣😂. It’s funny how sone of us love this & sone of us hate it!!

must try some smaller clothes I think!

next time I see them it’ll be Dec so I’m hoping I’ll be at least another 2st down then maybe more 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Gingercar · 30/08/2025 19:24

I had my sponsored walk at my cafe today, which went really well. The weather was kind, it was forecast to pour, but was actually sunny, the rain waited an hour until after everyone had finished their afternoon teas. I was rushing around beforehand and didn’t have time for my usual breakfast. Ended up having a croissant with my walkers. I also had a small glass of left over Prosecco with them when they had their afternoon tea (hubby and I are now finishing the bottle!). But I’m sure I’ve walked it off!

ElsieJay · 30/08/2025 19:39

@Seahorsesplendour that sounds much more fun than a workout !
@Gingercar You richly deserve that croissant and Prosecco, hope lots of money was raised after all your hard work . 🥐 🥂 ❤️.

Seahorsesplendour · 30/08/2025 20:35

@Gingercar that sounds like a lovely day!!! So glad the weather was kind to the walkers!! 😊 the croissant & prosecco sound well deserved!! 🥂

notgonnafail · 31/08/2025 07:44

Gaaah! Ruddy scales are being an absolutr pain. Weigh in their app, I am one weight. Weigh in Renpho app a few seconds later I am a completely different weight (I use both as original app has weight from about 2020 in it for reference, but prefer Renpho's algorythm for all the other markers as it seems less 'glitchy' and rollercoastery!) I only changed the batteries recently, but there are very few completely flat pls in my house anyywhere. Managed to eventually find a spot where both readings gave the same weight, but make me about 1lb heavier than I was in the old spot, so I'll gave to suck that up I suppose!!

Well done for sponsored walk @Gingercar , am glad the weather held for you, and excellent adjustments made when it didn't @Seahorsesplendour

Hope you feel better soon @DidILeaveTheGasOn might be worth getting yourself checked over - you've had so much going on recently that your body may just have decided it needs a rest, and there are lots of viruses around.

Get well soon to anyone else feeling rotten (am still feeling rough post-covid here) and well done on NSVs and SVs to all who've had them.

tostaky · 31/08/2025 09:34

How frustrating @notgonnafail… what about ditching one? And keeping only one. Ok you’ll have less data or imperfect data but it would make things a bit simpler for you.

I am feeling a lot better so I have jabbed today! I have lost 0.2kg so thats good but not enough to tip me into the overweight category!

ElsieJay · 31/08/2025 09:39

@notgonnafail - I feel your pain re scales and uneven floors, so rarely use ours unless it’s checking suitcases.
A couple of weeks ago I’d weighed in at WW and, just for the heck of it , stepped on home scales about 15 mins later - exact same weight. 👍
Friday morning I’d lost 0.5lbs at WW - shortly after mine made me 2.5lbs lighter 😳.
Back in the wardrobe they go!
Sorry to hear you’re suffering the lingering effects of Covid, it’s still lurking 🦠
I wonder if there’ll be any boosters this year?
DH and I have flu jabs booked for October.

Well done to the losers, and sympathies to anyone feeling under the weather.
Onwards and downwards, Totes Protes troopers!

ElsieJay · 31/08/2025 09:42

Glad you’re on the mend, @tostaky - and well done on the loss.

notgonnafail · 31/08/2025 10:13

@tostaky I only have one set of scales, and they are quite old now. I just use the different apps. I think that the old app which is the one that came with the scales is very outdated, as you can't buy them anymore so the app and algorythms etc probably haven't been updated in years - but it does have my weights going back a long time. I've ordered a new scale that goes with the newer app and we'll see how it goes.

@ElsieJay I wish I had somewhere to weigh-in not at home. I literally live in the middle of nowhere and I'm not prepared to drive 30+km to a public scale!

Boosters for covid vax are available to everyone here in France, but I believe the UK are restricting them even further again this year as hubby was eligible last year but isn't this year so we'll get him done next time he's here visiting me (I moved to France in 2020 to renovate the house, while he stayed in UK to earn money to do the renovations)
