Goodness me there are some fantastic people on this thread!

Stunning loss @AlicesMum2025

Hope you get to 'go' very soon @SussexLass

That's not fair @ElsieJay . 2 days of being poorly deserves a bigger loss. But you're doing so well overall.

Happy birthday @DidILeaveTheGasOn to you and your son. I find if I eat more than usual it makes me hungrier (or maybe greedier?) than usual. Maybe the hunger pangs were something like that?

I ate a bit more than normal on Wednesday and it showed on the scales on Thursday - a 1.5lb gain - which can't be real. Can it? Half of that had gone by today. I'm just over 11 stone, actually 11st 2.75lb today and I'm desperate to be 10 something. I can't remember being 10 something in the last 40+ years.

Have a good weekend everyone.

FlorenceNightshade · 07/11/2025 19:11

Well I’m giving maintenance a go now!

I jabbed today a few days late, it’s been 10 days I think, I was on nights so swapped my Tuesday for a Friday.

So dose 26 today. I dropped down to 2.5mg from my usual 3.75mg last time and I’ve stuck with that today. Still having some suppression and not looking to lose much more so we’ll see how this goes.

Last time I was 66.7kg on jab day, today I’m 67kg. I’m thinking a buffer of 1-2 kgs from my goal of 67.4kg might work for me but not sure yet!

SW 92.9kg BMI 30
GW 67.4kg
CW 67kg BMI 21.6

So a loss of 25.9kg overall. It’s funny that my goal was the midpoint of my “ideal” BMI of 57.4kg and 77.4kg. I can’t imagine losing another 10kg would be healthy!

Well done everyone on your NSV’s and general awesomeness!!! We are the Queens of Just Keep Keeping On! I’ve bought a few new Christmas Jumpers and they are size small!! That’s my NSV of late!

Onwards and downwards ✌️

Foster kittens snuggling. Having a glass of wine and working our way through Stranger Things ahead of the new series. Need to jab and get back on the wagon.

Lovely to hear how everyone is doing. It’s been a week of two halves here. On the one hand, I am doing a lot of preening, as went back to work after a few weeks off and everyone is commenting on how I look. It’s mad. I am mostly feeling very big headed and quite insufferable about it. However, on the other hand things are not at all glamorous. I can only tell you lot, but I went about six days without having a poo, took two Senokot (‘It says take one or two…what the hell, I’ll take two’) and now the entire world is falling out of my rear end. So while people are telling me,’Why, DBatteryBand, you look marvellous!’ I have to restrain myself from saying, ‘I don’t know why, because I think my actual tonsils just fell out of my bum.’

PinkScot · 07/11/2025 20:13

So good to catch up with all the gang and I’ve taken heart from the encouragement of slow losing…I think I’ve got to that point now I’ve 4 pounds to goal, and only lost a half pound this week, total loss 43 pounds. I’m so amazed at how well I’ve done so far, but I do know I’m slipping a wee bit, adding the odd little extras in because I’m so pleased with myself…..calories creeping up slightly…not as many sessions on the bike…..so I’ve had a word it’s jab day tomorrow and I’m back on straight and narrow to get to goal by four weeks time!!!

😘

FlorenceNightshade · 07/11/2025 21:14

@DBatteryBand not sure if you’ve looked into these before when they’ve been mentioned but I swear by Psyllium Husk capsules from Holland and Barrett! If I don’t take them every day then I definitely notice the difference! Going daily (or most days anyway!) definitely makes me feel healthier and probably helps on the scale too!!!

OP posts:
DidILeaveTheGasOn · 07/11/2025 21:26

@DBatteryBand The idea of my tonsils falling out of my bum has me tickled, thanks for that!

On the subject of bum activity (sorry), my week off has resulted in lots of wind! I used to struggle with trapped wind before mj and this has been a rather pungent reminder. My poor tummy!

But I'm on my last pen now. Do I want to spend almost £300 to lose 4lbs (or nothing) next month and not fart or feel that hungry?
What about the month after that?

Maybe?

HKG · 07/11/2025 21:57

Wow you guys! What incredible successes! I have loved reading about them all and catching up. You guys are all inspirational!

we have just come back from a Mon-Fri break at Center Parcs and had a takeaway pizza since we’ve been back tonight. I am DREADING tomorrows weigh in. Today is my official WI so have technically missed it but will do my usual daily weighing. We didn’t eat too badly but it was definitely more than usual, we slept really badly though. I’m just rambling I guess, question for the group, would you weigh tomorrow or give yourself a day to acclimatise and drink water????

Apprenante · 07/11/2025 23:42

@DBatteryBand Sorry but ----😂😂😂. What an image!

FlorenceNightshade · 08/11/2025 04:53

@HKG i personally find that crappy sleep impacts me more than pretty much anything else! I’ve seen me get up early to let dog out etc and pop on the scale, go back to bed for a wee while and weigh again later and there be a difference of up to 1kg!! Some nights I don’t get in from work until nearly 1am and being up at 5-6 am just isn’t enough sleep for my body to do it’s thing!

I think you have two options, pop on the scale and record the number in a purely data capture way knowing that it is unlikely to be a true reflection of where you’re at. I’d focus more on a weekly/monthly average.

Or you give yourself a few days of decent sleep, better hydration etc and then pop on and see. Remember though that you can’t possibly have done too much “damage” in five days! What NSVs did you notice during your trip? More energy or being able to be more active? Look for the balance, we have to allow ourselves to enjoy holidays etc knowing we can get back on track and reset when they are over!

OP posts:
HKG · 08/11/2025 07:40

@FlorenceNightshade my hod you are so wise! I have mostly ignored the effect of sleep on my losses and tried to ‘white knuckle’ through but you’re right of course.

I’m trying to break the stranglehold the scales have on my emotional state so I think I will try your data capture approach. With the aim that the more I do so and then see how quickly it can come back down again it’s more evidence for next time.

as for NSVs, I don’t have any mirrors at home really other than the bathroom one so it was the first time I’ve properly seen myself from multiple angles and I kept surprising myself with how different I looked! Also, I was able to to on the zip wire and high ropes thing without a worry! I didn’t have to go have have myself weigjed before the kids came out of shame in case I was over the limit - I knew I wouldn’t be! Thank you for reminding me to see the balance. You are excellent (are you a coach or something????)

FlorenceNightshade · 08/11/2025 08:49

Yes @HKG that is exactly what I meant!!!! Well done you those are AMAZING achievements- what a rockstar!!!

Nope not a coach just an NHS Nurse which means I give rather good advice but struggle to follow it myself 🤣🤣🤣

I would give myself a day to acclimatise. I very rarely weigh because I too am bound emotionally to the scales and it can have an enormous impact on my mood. I weigh once a month, just before I have to update data for my next pen, and I rely on clothes feeling tight/loose to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Hope you’re feeling better rested.

Thanks for the response! I admire how you are able to rely on the feeling of clothes - I’d love to get to that stage too. For now, I doubt myself too much and bloat/deflate too much to make myself reliable. But you’re right - off to the water I go!

HereIGoOnceMore · 08/11/2025 10:22

HKG I agree with Florence about giving it time and accepting that with any true trend there are data bumps. I was away myself for part of last week and despite eating well, walking and swimming, a slight altercation to my diet & routine messed up my usual bowel pattern. Strangely enough once back in my usual routine, normal service resumed and the scales moved pleasingly to the left.

I also think that any successful maintenance of a healthy weight in the long term, is going to need to adapt to changes in routine, high days and holidays. The key is to stick to your goals in between and not allow the holiday habits to creep in to every day.

HKG · 08/11/2025 10:37

@HereIGoOnceMore hope you had a good time away as well! Totally agree, and love the phrase ‘high days’! Wouldn’t that be a turnaround to think of them in those ways - they are high days and not days I worry about the scales wandering to the right!

I think you’re right, this is the bit where I work more on my head and my mindset, turning this to the long term not a ‘diet’!

I come from a long line of women who were slaves to the scales, who judged everything on weight/appearance (social and aesthetic!) and now I have my own daughter I just won’t have scales in the house. I recently had to use our food scales to weight the cat before a trip to the vet! 😂 So I shlep to the GP surgery and use the free scales in the reception area. I think doing it this way also avoids the bloat/water issue - I just see the numbers moving.

I love that term “high days and holidays”. It’s exactly that.

I also have this thought so often! I’m half Chinese (on my mum’s side) and that side of the family is slight of frame and I have my fathers Caucasian bigger frame and have spent my whole life with the women in my family telling me how big I am and how I need to lose weight. I was worried I would have a daughter and unintentionally pass this on. I’ve ended up having two sons and although I am still vigilant and very careful with what I say in front of them and the example I set as they are susceptible too to body issues - I still feel slightly relieved that I won’t pass my issues to a daughter. I don’t think I would have been a good mum to a daughter in this sense.

all this to say - I see you and your efforts for your daughter and think you’re even more amazing still!

I think there are probably quite a few of us on this thread who, if we were to properly unpick it, were daughters in families where weight came with a value judgement attached. I really sympathise with being the seeming anomaly - one of my grandmother’s favourite comments was “I was never as big as you when I was your age”. 😂

Gingercar · 08/11/2025 18:49

Added to the cute foster kittens, how do you like this little bunny who has been hanging out around my cafe and stables for months (we think dumped). I’ve been giving it apples for the last six weeks and it’s gradually learned to come and take a slice of apple from my hand. Today I finally managed to grab it. (Left outside coming into winter it would have got eaten by a fox or something).

@hkg @SaintAgatha ugh you guys got me in the feels!!! So I’ve never really said this to anyone IRL but since this is our safe little corner of the internet I will share with the group.

Not only did I also grow up in a family that saw being overweight and hungry as a crime I have a twin sister. Not identical but always there right beside me being noticeably slimmer. I can see now looking back that she got away with bloody murder and can’t help but wonder if in part it was because of how she looked.

To this day my Father will still comment on my weight (corrected now by my mother who will say things like she’s not like that anymore, you can’t say that now). He also doesn’t seem to understand that given we are now in our 40s our hair isn’t naturally blonde anymore and while I’ve chosen to embrace a new colour my sister is a diehard bottle blond and he obviously values that colour more!!!

This toxicity also dies with me and my children are never rated on their appearance! We celebrate any and all achievements equally and I try to model a positive body attitude whatever size I am! Time will tell if I did I good job I guess!

Much love to anyone who has read the previous posts and felt that “ugh” feeling inside! We got you gals, we see you and we’re proud of you 😘
