Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I’ve been reading this page for months and finally I feel I can add significant news….

47 year old female
SW 16.4 18/11/24
CW 13.3 01/07/2025
Goal weight - was 13.5 now 13 stone. Slowwwww and steady 😊

The main thing is though that I’ve just bought a pair of size 12 jeans! What the actual??! I am 5’8 and was pushing an 18 at the start of my journey, I haven’t been a size 12 in 20 years! For the past 4 months I’ve also been hitting the gym pretty hard and my insides are catching up with my outsides (according to the body scanner at the gym).

Hair loss has become a thing over the past couple of months (on quality collagan and iron supplements) and I’ve lost my lovely boobs and round backside, in constant glutes classes trying to build it back up though 💪🏻

Stayed on 2.5 for around 2 months and then 5 the rest of the time, pushed to a 6.25 last week and the suppression is still very strong, although I’m where I want to be I will definitely be on some form of Mounjaro for life, be it a micro dose or a few months on off, absolute wonder drug.

Well done everyone ⭐️⭐️

3 stone loss is awesome @ChookaPooka slow and steady is definitely the best way. Although all the weight loss experts say an average of 1-1.5 lb a week isn't slow. It sounds like you are doing a great job in the gym and with the supplements. I have had hair loss at various stages in my life, especially post Covid x2, and it has always grown back.
I am absolutely loving my slimmer figure but I'm slightly missing my bigger bust; but the funny thing is that although I have gone down back sizes, the cup size has stayed relatively the same (E). So maybe I have slimmed 'in proportion', Not sure my husband agrees with that though, he says he misses my bigger boobs too 😂 But he is very happy that I am so much happier and healthier.

Exactly the same here! Slight disappointment from my partner that my voluptuous backside and chest has disappeared but he’s happy I’m happier ❤️

This thread is inspiring, so lovely to ‘virtually’ chat to people going through the same as you ⭐️

Amelanchier · 03/07/2025 13:43

I have not posted for a while. I was dispirited by plateaus in Feb and May but kept on going.

H 5ft1
Sw 14st 5 down to 14st pre MJ with willpower alone but was averaging only 0.5lb a week loss
Cw 11st 11.6 whoop under the 12s!
Gw 9st 3 (bmi 24.4) BUT I haven't been less than 10st 3 since my late teens, so let's see. It would be great to be middle of healthy BMI but I cannot see that happening. I was BMI 22.5 at 17ys but only after 2 weeks barely eating from illness.

BMI down to 31.4 from 37, so 30.4lb down on MJ since mid Nov.

Currently on 10mg dose, stayed on 5 and 7.5 a while. Very few side effects and they were worse at lower doses. I drink water and eat prunes to avoid constipation. I am not calorie counting but consciously watching portion sizes, avoiding v unhealthy choices etc I think I will need to start to count as I approach goal weight.

Clothes are now getting weeded out of my wardrobe having gone through tight, to fits as they should, to baggy and shapeless. Moved probably 1.5 dress sizes down in most shops. I was 16-18 and now big 14. Loved fitting into M or comfy L(top) at Uniqlo for new basics. If I could be a 10-12 I think that will be ok for my frame. I am not one of those dainty small-boned short women, probably descended from a pit pony/peasant type rather than a Tinkerbell/Kylie!

NSW - my fitbit strap is M/L and too loose on tightest hole so need to get a new one. Also starting running (again). Last time I was running regularly I was 2st heavier and it was unpleasant. Although I am still working my way up to 5k my knees are feeling so much better and I am confident it will be easier to keep it up and get back to a (slow) 10k as a regular thing rather than 1 off achievement.

My upper arms are very saggy so I need to remember to do arm weights, hoping that sorts them out since I still have at least another 2st to lose and it would be great to be comfortable to wear sleeveless tops and I don't want them any worse. My stomach is saggy but overhang is much less pronounced and the rest is springing back so far. I am in my early 50s and weight loss has coincided with ageing really speeding up esp. my crepey neck even though I avoid sun (fair skin). I am now the weight I was 2 years after my last child, and before the weight really piled on at 40 and stopped responding to previous diet/exercise.

I think I will need to continue into January at least on standard dosing. So a very slow loser.

Well done everyone. It hasn't been a quick fix, that is for sure.

Novjaro · 03/07/2025 13:47

Claiming my four stone rosette today 🥳! Will write my stats for the first time as this is actually happening!

Height - 5ft 6
SW - 21st 6 😱 on 3 November
CW - 17st 6
GW - haven’t decided

What makes this even better for me is that I’ve been on prednisolone (steroids) the whole time, and they increase your appetite and make it notoriously difficult to lose weight. Dr said that if/when I come off them the weight should come off faster although I’m still on a low dose for a while.

Even at this weight this has changed my life. I had big mobility problems before I started due to a hip problem but that has gone for now (think the steroids help with that too though).

And I’m bucking the trend as far as my 🍑 is concerned. What once looked like a sack of hammers is now looking very 🍑 shaped - long may it continue!

It’s so lovely having you all to do this together with. I don’t think I could do it on my own. I don’t comment that often (I’m so used to not wanting to ‘take up space’ anywhere!) but I read everything every day and it’s just so inspiring.

Looking forward to wedding updates from @Mounjaropen . And please get the scan @Cantbesure , even if you don’t hurt when they call you. Better to be safe than sorry.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 03/07/2025 13:51

I agree @ChookaPooka Thank Heavens for this lovely corner of the inter web.
This thread has also lightened my weight-induced psychological load. I have never, ever, ever told anyone how much I weigh, have weighed or hope to weigh. Only the occasional medic, when needed.
The first time I wrote my weight down on this thread, it literally made my heart race. It took me months to do my first post. Sharing this journey with everyone here has really helped to start to free me up mentally, and move away from the years of guilt, self-blame and sadness about my weight loss/gain battles
I'm still not sharing this info with anyone else, but the fact I can do so safely here, with the support of those who really do understand, is priceless.

evilharpy · 03/07/2025 14:19

@Novjaro amazing work lovely, four stone is fantastic anyway but doing it on prednisone is even more impressive, hope you have bought some new clothes to show off that 🍑!

Dreamqueen · 03/07/2025 15:38

MounjNewb · 03/07/2025 11:36

To be honest, fine, but for me it's basically staying on a reasonable MJ dose. I am content if this is the case forever. The peak dose I got to when losing was 9mg. I stepped down gradually to 5mg in the first few weeks of maintenance - the eating crept up, but I was maintaining OK and would take 6mg if I felt nervous about drift. Now I've decided to lose just a few more lbs, I have upped to 7.5mg - but think this will only be for a few weeks and then I'll step down again.....

I will simply play tunes with dosing depending on how I feel. Oushk are fine with this from my conversation with them - I'm on the Conti plan.

Thank you. You sound like you’re doing maintenance really well and have made it seem a lot less daunting. I also have no plans to come off MJ. If I can reduce that would be good but otherwise I’ll keep on taking it.

Dreamqueen · 03/07/2025 15:39

Mounjaropen · 03/07/2025 10:19

Keep a food diary on MFP and try and work out if it is emotional eating, boredom, a sugar crash or general slipping back into old habits. Look after your protein intake and water and if you do have a 'snaccident' then offset it with upping your physical output. All is not lost, you can do maintenance 💪

Thank you for the sound and sensible advice. That’s what I love about this group. No judgment just advice.

I hope the thread continues when you are all at maintenance as I still have 55lb to lose to get to normal BMI so I’m here for a while 😫

I’ll be here for quite some time too! And I think maintenance will need as much support to keep us going and on the straight and narrow.

We can do this!

Cantbesure · 03/07/2025 21:17

I didn’t get the scan in the end. My conscience didn’t let me and I’m delighted to report I’ve not been in pain all day. I went for 2 3k walks today and they didn’t set me off. It seems like the omeprazole has helped. I’m going to continue on a double dose for 2 weeks. I’m going to try and get a run in tomorrow and if I can manage that without pain I will be over the moon.

I love the support and encouragement on this thread. Such a special place.

Goldleafcat · 04/07/2025 07:52

Good morning and a happy Friday everyone!

So amazing to hear of all these incredible losses! Well done everyone! And lovely to see old faces popping up with updates. It’s a long road but we are all making our way down it, bit by bit.

It’s my birthday today and I’m celebrating by having an early bath before DS wakes up 😂

Weight wise I’ve put on 0.4lbs this week (meh) and have definitely been bouncing about at a similar weight these past few weeks. I agree with the set point theory - my weight has fluctuated a lot over the years. In my early 20s I lost some and got back to the 12 - 12 stone 7 range. Then piled on 7-8 stone. In 2018 I got down to 12 stone 11 or so. Managed to maintain for a little while then went to around 14 4. For my 40th I got back to 12 stone 7. Then with various things and events got back up to 16 7 last October!

12 stone odd is definitely my set point!

I am 12 stone 5.6lbs.

I am going to sit down and plan what I need to do differently to push myself through to the 11s. A couple of weeks left of 12.5mg then it’s on to the 15mg pen. But I think I really need to tackle what’s happening with me that is slowing me down weight loss wise and how I can change this.

(Initial thoughts - wine, wine and more wine is not helping. I’m doing reformer Pilates 3 times a week but need to introduce more activity besides that)

Firstly Happy Birthday! 🥳 🎂!

Secondly, is it even your birthday if you don’t put a teeny bit of weight on and have wine? 😂

You know what to do, first principles- know your BMR, up your aerobic exercise, stick to lean protein, eat the rainbow in terms of fruit and veg and up your water intake. Offset treats with increased activity. Be mindful of how many treats you’ve had in a day/ week. I save my calories for wine but that means I know I can’t have chocolate/ crisps/biscuits/ice cream as well as wine - which was my downfall previously.

You’ve got this birthday girl! 💪🏻

Aww I was on steroids for a short while in my early twenties and ballooned so feel your pain. You are doing so well - keep it up! I know I wang on about pvolve (😂) but it has opened my eyes to functional mobility training. Maybe you could try some online classes (not necessarily pvolve) that replicates the same movement to facilitate even more progress in your hip)

Jealous of that 🍑though 😂

Edited to award the 4 stone rosette 🏵️😉👏👏👏

Happy Friday death jabbers! I need to be uber productive at work today, so don't you lot be distracting me! ;-) Quiet weekend ahead here I think after living the high life last weekend. Although we are getting a huge load of cotswold stone delivered to re-dress our driveway and make some paths in the garden, so I think there will be a fair amount of shovelling and moving heavy loads! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 Bring on the muscle growth!

I'm in need of a new gym programme I think. I'm a bit bored. I am very tempted by pvolve, but I like going to the gym. Anyone have any suggestions?

MagnoliaTreePetals · 04/07/2025 08:30

Happy Birthday @Goldleafcat 🥳🤩I hope you have a lovely day, and weekend.
I have a very similar weight loss/gain history. 12.11 was the 'best' I could get to over the past 30 years, since I lost a lot in my early 20's. I did stick a bit at 12.7 this time, but upping the dose and tweaking what I was eating has really helped, now 12.2 and looking forward to seeing an 11 on the scales soon.

Sounds like you have a great plan going forwards and downwards.

Weighing in.

W35D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:15st 5lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 4st 4lb AKA one elephants penis!!! 🐘🍆

I'm half a pound, or a big poo, off that second goal weight now, which is very exciting. I'm also very close to 10 BMIs (BMI points?!) and 15% of my starting body fat down - hopefully hitting those in the next few weeks.
