Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Have people been declaring the use of MJ to their insurance providers when on holiday? I’ve just read a thread on another site saying they couldn’t be covered on it when abroad as it was for cosmetic reasons. I’m not going to take it the week before I go away, and won’t be jabbing when there, but I know insurance companies will do anything to escape payment and I can’t imagine if I end up with an issue when in America and the cost of it. I wouldn’t even be able to start a godundme as I’ve been lying to anyone who asks if I’m on MJ 😂😂😂

jay55 · 06/07/2025 13:08

I didn’t declare it last year. This year my hols are in Europe so not bothering either. Next year I’ve a big US holiday planned and will probably research a policy that accepts it for that one. I’m such a gambler with insurance to be honest.

Goldleafcat · 06/07/2025 14:51

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes @Mounjaropen @SerenePeer @MagnoliaTreePetals @Pumpkinforever @Dreamqueen

I did indulge in Champagne, cremant and a Chinese takeaway and it was lovely! Back to being good this week! Next major target - 11 stone something! (I am however on hols for week from next Friday, will need to keep the willpower 💪)

MyRootinTootinBaby · 06/07/2025 16:38

Update on the insurance: I had to declare the condition of obesity and they weren’t interested in the medication. No charge added.

Apprenante · 06/07/2025 18:17

Same for me - not interested in the medication only in the 'condition'. Had to give my height and current weight.

I smiled as I've had this 'condition' for 50 years without declaring it. Would my insurance have always been invalid? 😂

MyRootinTootinBaby · 06/07/2025 19:21

I said the same to DH! I’ve lost 4s and before this I’d have never declared myself obese for travel insurance.

jay55 · 06/07/2025 19:39

I would never have declared myself obese for insurance. Brilliant. I mean half the country would have to declare it. Do the underweight have to announce it too?

SerenePeer · 06/07/2025 20:35

Gosh. I never in a million years would have thought to declare my obesity 😳 I hate to think what would have happened if I'd needed to claim anything! What a sobering thought.

MyRootinTootinBaby · 06/07/2025 21:06

All these years I’ve been going to America thinking I was covered, but I’d bet if I had broken my leg or something they’d have said the break was worse because of my weight etc. They’ll do anything to get out of paying, and of course medical aid is so expensive in the US if you’re uninsured.

jay55 · 06/07/2025 22:24

My aunt who lived in the US was taken ill over here one visit and even though the bill from the NHS hospital was a tiny fraction of what the treatment would have cost in the US, her insurance company quibbled for months and months over every line on the bill, and took a year to pay it.

Morning all! Long time lurker, but this is my first post. I started November 2024, 58lbs down so far, same still to go Confused. My weight loss has slowed down massively though. I was expecting it to slow down but not as much as this. Monthly total losses are as follows:
month 1: -14
month 2: -10
month 3: -7
month 4: -8
month 5: -3
month 6: -7
month 7: -5
month 8: -2

Would anyone else be prepared to share their monthly weight loss pattern so I can see if this is “ normal”, as I’m wondering if I’m slowly slipping into bad habits again without noticing….

I have. I have also been declaring obesity since November when I started MJ. I read a chat about it on one of the older MJ threads. Don’t give the insurers the opportunity to wriggle out of any claims.

Congratulations on your 4 stone rosette- the klaxon is sounding 📣📣📣 Welcome to the 4 stone club.

my weight loss has slowed right down though I am up to 7.5mg and considering 10mg to see if that will help boost things. I lost lots on 2.5mg but now back to a snails pace. But just so long as it’s going down it is a win.

I haven't calculated mine yet (I might though and I'll post again if I do) but mine has slowed toi. I think of it as proportion/percentages - there's now less of me to lose as it were so even though I'm losing weight more slowly, it evens out in terms of how much of me there is. I've also recalculated my TDEE as I've gone down in weight roughly once a stone to make sure I'm in target for a deficit. The Shotsy app still reckons on average I'm losing 2lb a week since I started MJ in November, even though I haven't had that kind of loss in months. It still averages out.

Cherubneddy · 07/07/2025 10:55

Thanks Pumpkin and BlueWalker. I am impatient, and you are right, as long as it’s still coming off. I’ve been on 15mg for a couple of months now as I needed to go up the doses to get the effect.

Dreamqueen · 07/07/2025 11:50

I've just done my weight verification call with Oushk. it was very easy and straightforward. I suddenly remembered about needing Id and was looking for my driving license at 2am. maintenance call is booked for next Monday. I've got a mini stockpile in the fridge. I'd stocked up before discovering the maintenance plans that are now available.

Is this what you need to do before the maintenance appointment? I’ve booked one for early September (rather ambitiously, I realise).

I did have a bit of a random email from them about a weight verification call, but it’s such a long time until the call it feels a bit early?

jay55 · 07/07/2025 12:30

On average I’ve lost just over 2kg a month, but I lost less than one in April, and 4 in June, (nothing so far in July). I do tend to whoosh then stall, sometimes only seeing an actual loss one week in the month.
Lots on the thread have had a stall or slow down recently.

I still track my cals 2 or 3 days a week and try and review periodically as weighing less so need less etc. But nothing seems to make a big difference some weeks I lose, some I don’t.

I also received the email about weight verification last week. I booked it for today because I think everyone will eventually have to do it as well as the maintenance one.

Good week. Another 2lbs off and I think the thing that I've noticed thr most impact in is my performance in work. My confidence is through the roof. I've bought some (cheap!) new work wear in styles I know suit me and I've striding around feeling all competent and professional in ctailored cigarette trousers and tucked in tops. I even dud a French tuck the other day and didn't look a complete twat.

The effect its had on my imposter syndrome is off the chart. I'm a teacher, and I've always been competent there, but I'm also a SENCO and a member of SLT and the feeling that I was going to be caught out was strong and pervasive. But today I chaired an incredibly difficult meeting with assurance and, dare I say it, something approaching aplomb. I feel like I'm taking myself seriously. It's unprecedented and amazing.

Hope everyone else is also reaping the increased confidence benefits!

What a fab update and your outfits sound on point! 🙌

That's a great tip @Mounjaropen - I haven’t heard the phrase ‘functional mobility training’ before. I’ve been doing a lot of treadmill walking and swimming but will look at what else there is. Pvolve might not be for me though and I’d never have the devotion you do!
Enjoy Duran Duran and Chic!

I danced the night away and wore my original DD tour T shirt from 1987 ;-) It was a great night

I cried in the fitting room in m&s today as the size 14 linen trousers fitted. I’ve not been in a 14 on the bottom since uni. Of course the length/size/colour combo I wanted wasn’t in stock so had to order online anyway.

Aww - that is quite lovely 🙌
