Mounjaro starters Nov ‘24 Thread 10 - The one where we are very nearly beach body ready 🥳

Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Long time lurker checking in

Sw 12 st 10
Cw 10 st 1 (may have crept up a little as on holiday)
Gw 9 st would be amazing, 9 st 7 would be good.

Currently on about 4 mg or 52 clicks of a 5mg pen.

Starting to feel much more like myself again as I get closer to pre dc weight. But need to think about changing from med express as my bmi drops because im worried they'll cut me off. I've a bit to go as the weight loss is really slowing.

Anyone else having hair loss, mine is falling out at a worrying rate at the minute.

Congratulations! Great result 👏👏👏 I think Oushk offer maintenance plans but you need to book a consultation asap as I think appointments are now stretching into July.

Sorry to hear about the hair loss - how are your nutrient macros? Are you eating enough protein?

I should say we’re a corporate nhs team and were talking about gastric balloons one of our consultants has been trialling.

Fair enough. Although it’s a stretch to think everyone is scoring MJ on the black market.. 😆

I went to slimming world for a bit after having my daughter thinking it would help shift the baby weight. I didn't last long, it felt like a big shiny promotion for disordered eating. Syns ffs and the syn value of branded foods seemed to depend on whether they had partnered with SW or not. Exercise called "body magic" and maybe you shouldn't do it if it was causing you to not lose weight. There was just so much wrong with it. I ended up going back to calorie counting and exercise.

Isn’t SW just the hay diet repackaged? Avoiding carbs and protein in the same meal etc?

There seems to be a lack of understanding that those paying private pharmacies are not hooking up with drug dealers on street corners 😂

That sounds truly awful. I’ve never joined any kind of weight loss plan and having heard that I never will! I used to work for LighterLife and although the company was nice to work for I didn’t agree with the concept.

My friend lost about 5 stone on LL and put it all back on and more. It isn’t a sustainable eating programme IMO…and with the advent of WLI, I think these sorts of plans will fall out of fashion. Weight Watchers was worth $6bn a few years back. Then Oprah (a WW board member) mentioned she was taking Ozempic 😳 and now they are likely to file for bankruptcy in the coming weeks..

Half way through week 24 here.

SW: 16 stone
CW: 13 stone 7lbs.

Things are starting to move again after a few weeks stalling I moved upto 10mg and have lots 8lbs in 4 weeks.

People are starting to notice my weightloss. I have told my immediate family but outside of this told no one. I saw a friend who i hadnt seen since I started & I don't know why but when she asked if I was on WLI I lied. Now feel so guilty about lying. 😔

I have dropped from a size 20 to size 16, although today spent the whole day pulling up my jeans, so probably more of a 14 now.

Mounjaro for me has been life changing, I was diagnosed perimenopausal aged 24 as a result of ovarian failure. Now 40 so suffered years of hot flushes, night sweats etc. Since taking mounjaro it has all stopped and I have been able to stop taking hrt (it always made me feel rubbish but was a necessary evil).

I have been doing lots of thinking about life after mounjaro, whilst I would like to come off eventually, the wider health benefits may mean I don't come off, so may just try tritating down to a low dose.

Thanks for the new thread! End of week 24. No loss for me this week :(

SW 14 st
CW 11 st
GW 10 st- ish

First outing today in my old jeans.

Woohoo for the old jeans! No loss but no gain over the biggest chocolate weekend of the year is a result I’d say!

Thank you for the lovely new thread, @Mounjaropen! I am going on holiday at the end of May so I might actually see a beach during this thread.

Female, 41, 5’2”
SW: 12.7
CW: 9.13.2 (well, it was before the Easter weekend)
Total loss: 35.8 lbs.
Start BMI: 32
Current BMI: 25.5
Goal weight: 9.7 (or maybe 9 stone).

Holiday twins! I’m also hoping to see a beach then 🥰

Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen and what a lcfky, positive place it is already 🥰

Scales still not moving. Bustards. But i had a massive NSV today! Ordered an outfit from Zara of all places and it bloody fits!! Size medium top and skirt and I love it 😍 Didn't feel like an absolute whale collecting my order from the store either. I usually avoid Zara as I used to find their sizing deeply depressing but I'm chuffed to bits with my new outfit! Also had to buy new knickers because I no longer owned a pair that didn't fall down 😳

I was debating moving up to 10mg next month, but I've only managed to eat half a wanky London salad tonight, so maybe I'll get to goal on 7 5mg after all.

Still laughing at myself and the rest of you caught out by hormonal fluctuations 🙈🤦‍♀️ What a bunch! 😂

Ooh medium Zara! 👏👏👏👏 and new pants that stay up 😂

F - 58
CW - 12st
Size - 14
IW - 11st would be fantastic

I'm post menopause and recently diagnosed pre-diabetic and just can't shift weight, a few pounds up or down. Never had a sweet tooth in my life but I love wine/cheese/nuts.

It's all new to me and I'll be following you lot and reading up on it. Any tips or advice for a new starter would be much appreciated. I've been so inspired by the huge weight losses you all have and can't imagine the difference it's made to your lives, just wow.

Yes, the idea was that food could be an addiction much like alcohol so if you took food out of the equation for enough time to loose weight and learn triggers, learn how to eat healthily etc you could maintain a healthy weight. A lot of people just seemed to go back to old eating habits once they achieved their ‘goal weight’. Sorry about your friend, she did so well to loose the five stone. I’m glad Oprah was honest - but then again I don’t have shares in WW!

Welcome!

I think we’d all agree here that MJ works best if you approach with a whole lifestyle overhaul. You need to consider movement as well as nutrition to get the best results.

-MJ does cause muscle loss if you are not careful so think about how to incorporate weight-bearing exercise or training into your routine
-Get a set of smart scales (mine are Renpho and cost £25 from Amazon) so you can track your body stats
-Download the ‘Shotsy’ app to track your injections and record your results (it is free)
-Download the ‘Methreesixty’ body scan app as some weeks your WL will be slow but you may have lost inches and it keeps you motivated
-use My Fitness Pal or similar to record your nutrition macros. Protein intake is especially important during the WL journey so consider how you can incorporate 1-2g of protein per kg of your body weight per day into your diet
-know your BMR (the scales can help you with his) so you ensure you eat at least that amount per day and avoid your body going into starvation mode.
-you need to hydrate on MJ - lots of water all day long
-Digestive issues can be a side effect either constipation or diarrhoea so think about your fibre intake too.

Hope that helps! Good luck - starting MJ has really been the best decision for me (and I think I can confidently say), all of us on here.

I went last week and I did disclose to my dentist. You never know what meds are contraindicated so I’m firmly in the ‘be up front camp’

Me too - I have a 100% disclosure policy when it comes to healthcare.

Goldleafcat · 23/04/2025 08:51

@Mounjaropen @MounjNewb thanks both. I’ll be honest then. He’s the dentist for me, my DH and my DS. My DH has a complex health condition to navigate and he knew my DS was having major surgery in Jan so I was tempted to minimise things 😆.

Goodness that sounds a lot to be coping with. My DH has had a heart condition for the past 18 months which has been difficult to navigate and reappeared last week so I can relate to how you’re feeling.

My dentist has a tablet that you update with any Meds that you’re on before you go in so I don’t have to tell the receptionist or anything which makes life a bit less awkward. However, I do live in an area which is generally vanity central so I’m guessing that 95% of the patients are probably on MJ 🤣

Anyway, good luck at the dentist later (I once had to have three root canal treatments in 48 hours as the dentist couldn’t be certain which tooth was actually the issue and quite possibly it was all three! So hopefully you won’t be as bad as that!)

Hey everyone!
Haven't posted in a while but still been lurking from time to time. So pleased to see how everyone is getting on!!
I've hit 100lb loss (7 stone 2lb) which I just would never have believed was possible when we all started in November!
Still got a very very long way to go (I'm probably just over a third of the way 🫣)
Bought some new clothes 2 sizes smaller last week!

Keep going everyone! ☺️

How funny, I was just walking the dog thinking that we hadn’t heard from you in a little while! 100 LBS is absolutely outstanding! Congratulations! You must literally feel like a new woman? I don’t know what we give out for seven stones, but it must be up there with the FA Cup sized trophy!

I did not disclose to my dentist, which is very unlike me, for the sole reason that he’s my uncle and I didn’t want him to know. He’s very nice but I haven’t told my family (apart from DH) and I was worried he’d tell my dad. I don’t really think he would with professional confidentiality etc, but I felt really uncomfortable about it. I haven’t yet had more than a routine check up though since being on MJ so haven’t been given any meds. I know this isn’t a sensible decision and I would never normally not disclose something like this to a medical professional!

@TheSilentSisterout of interest what is your BMI? Just wondering if you’ll ’qualify’ with only a stone to loose. I know it’s only 27 with other conditions though.
