Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Oh I love my barrel jeans. I've had the Sainsburys ones in three sizes - 16, 14 and now 12 and I'm going to have to buy a 10 as I can't be without them! I wear them with trainers or lace up clompy boots like Grensons.

I’m either dressed in Athleisure wear no make up (looking a bit homeless tbh) or completely over the top glam giving Kris Jenner a run for her money (in my head anyway) I don’t seem to have ever found a jeans and trainer look that suits me….😩

Same. Even when my optician asked if I was on any medication 😂 I’ve also disclosed it before giving blood and all was fine. I had some blood tests done recently and I haven’t spoken to anyone since - no phone call from the dr or anything- but myGP app has told me there’s a prescription ready for me to pick up for iron tablets, so I’m assuming that’s come back low!

Oh no! Hope you’re ok 💐

Another slow loss this week - 3/4 lb off. Chip van, 2 x Maccy D’s and huge Easter roast didn’t help!…but glad I managed to loose anything!

I hope they delete the whole referral code section as posted my code a lot on there! I’ve got a bit of credit and don’t want to
loose it!

Keep going! Holiday calories don’t count 😉

I’d imagine MN will be deleting the whole referral code section tbh.

Has anyone had much hair loss? I have ridiculously thick hair, always have, I’d shed pretty decent chunks in the shower but would overall maintain the thickness. I’ve noticed recently that I have been losing way more than usual and during a recent haircut when I would usually get it thinned to within an inch of its life the hairdresser didn’t need to thin it at all. I can afford to lose it at the minute but I don’t want it to get too bad.

How is your protein intake? It is usually a correlation between hair loss and that?

I’ve not eaten enough protein over the holiday weekend and definitely noticed a difference in hair loss this week as a result…

Some amazing losses on this thread. And @MounjaroMolly👏🎉

SW - 147lbs
CW - 119
GW - 112

On jeans I LOVE my wide leg. I’m so short I thought I’d look ridiculous but I really like them.

I moved up to 10mg this week and have been ridiculously tired. I fell asleep yesterday afternoon and still slept all night. As someone who usually struggles with sleep this is definitely unusual for me so I wonder if it is jab related.

I got some fancy Withings scales from a discount outlet this weekend. I didn’t actually need them but they seemed too good a bargain to pass up. The only thing is that they automatically update the app when I stand on them without me deciding I’m going to log the weight. Usually I weigh first and decide if it’s a weight I want to log 😂

I thought of @qotsawhen I got the ME text! I’ve never had any credit.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/04/2025 00:54

Me to hair loss and tiredness! Fell asleep at 4.45 pm for an hour and now can’t sleep. I’ll give extra protein a go - maybe in the form of yoghurt.

I am enjoying clothes that were straining at the seams before now being loose. Wore a denim skirt on Tuesday that started life as a midi. It’s now definitely a maxi because it’s sitting on my hips instead of my waist, and it could probably do with a belt even there. Also, embarrassingly, I used to think the pockets in it were ridiculously small. Turns out the pockets are a perfectly normal size when the stomach inside the skirt isn’t stretching the whole thing forwards like a beach ball! Blush

I too got back into a denim skirt I’ve not worn for any 4 years. Such a milestone. And yes to the clothes not stretching. The dress I wore to work yesterday “oh, this is how it should sit?”

Ooh 7lbs to go! 👏👏👏

The Renpho scales did the same thing once but I pressed ‘ignore’ so it didn’t record. I’m a big fan of logging only flattering weights 😂

Definitely second the tiredness - I jabbed on Monday night as usual (7.5) and was absolutely knackered on Tuesday afternoon to the point where I had to go to bed for a couple of hours - and I still slept through the night on Tuesday night. I’ve never had that problem before. It seems to have eased up this week but I’ll see how I am next week to see if it was a post Easter eating slump or jab related.

Ooh a new but old skirt is the best isn’t it?👏👏👏

Hope you got some sleep eventually?. I’ve been taking the magnesium gummies an hour before bed and I’ve been sleeping really well (and very deeply) through the night after a few weeks of being disturbed by DH and then unable to get back to sleep. DH is also taking them - unfortunately they don’t cure a middle aged male bladder but at least i don’t know about it 😂

Morning everyone,

Weekly weigh in on 3.6mg dose..
jab number 22
SW 18st 4
CW 15 stone 7.3lbs
1lb loss this week
total loss so far 2 stone 10.7lbs
I have lost 15% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 37
Achievements this week ….
steps in the week = 63492
Also I have for the first time ever…a little bit of muscle definition in my legs 💪

Well done to everyone on the great losses, we can do this 💪

With respect to hair loss ….
Many years ago, I achieved an HND in trichology so I have some insight.
Up your protein and vitamins.

The only proven topical product that will encourage new hair growth is minoxidil.
There is a product called Regaine which has been proven to encourage new hair growth. It’s a mousse application to the scalp, I have used it but in my opinion it leaves your hair tacky and sticky. I also found it expensive.

There is another product called Nioxin, you can get a trial box of shampoo/cleanser, scalp therapy and the treatment. It’s about £35. This product goes a long way and is more cost effective than Regaine. No stickiness or tackiness.
Nioxin ….
The cleanser is powerful and clarifies your scalp by removing all dirt, oil, products that are sitting on your follicle. If the follicle is blocked by gunk, new hair can’t get through. Because the cleanser is strong, you then apply scalp therapy. This is a lovely peppermint cream, you apply it to the scalp only, it’s not a conditioner you lather on the hair. What this does is it replaces the goodness that the cleanser has removed alongside the gunk!
Then you apply the treatment, which has a nozzle for easy application. What this product does is encourages the blood flow to come to the surface, thus the blood feeds and enriches the hair bulb which in return encourages new hair growth.
Whether or not you use a product with minoxidil in it or Nioxin, your hair will grow albeit slower.

I had such severe hair loss at the beginning that I had a considerable amount cut off as it was so wispy but with a blunt cut, it looks so much better.
I am also placing LED mask on my head as there is evidence to suggest that LED light therapy encourages new hair growth as well.

Congrats on the loss this week and the outstanding step count! 👏 👏 You’ll be flashing the shapely pins this summer for sure!

Thanks for the hair info. Really invaluable. I was looking at some sort of rosemary hair serum but think that’s probably bordering on woowoo shite. I did think though why can’t the eyelash/eyebrow serums be mass produced so they can be applied to the scalp? Or is prostaglandin/similar growth promoting products specific to those two hair types?

I’m always fascinated by choices of area of study. Did you stay in the trichology field? Sounds really interesting.

OP posts:
lovealongbath · 24/04/2025 07:08

Minoxidil is not a prostaglandin although they both encourage hair growth.

Minoxidil and Nioxin work by encouraging your blood flow to the hair follicles which stimulates the body’s natural prostaglandin which aids recovery and repair and thus hair growth.

Again, there is evidence to suggest that rosemary oil helps with blood circulation.

I didn’t go down the scientific route, just a humble hair stylist who also lectured for many years until politics took over!

Re hair loss, I too have mega thick hair, it thinned when I was on sexanda, I didn’t know then about protein and death jabs and hair loss. I put it down to stress.
This time around I’m losing less in the shower. I’m still not eating enough protein I do make more effort and I’m trying to eat more calories to fight fatigue etc and I think that helps.

On jeans I’m in bootcut. My thighs are still such that they fill the space whatever size I buy so barrel and wide leg are out.
Im looking forward to being able to wear other styles eventually. It’s good motivation. I didn’t wear jeans for a decade while skinny was in.

Thanks to the person who mentioned the waist adjusters for jeans. I have some in my basket ready to try and think they’ll help a lot.

Mounjaropen · 24/04/2025 09:41

Weigh in this morning for me: 148.2 lbs. I do feel thinner this week though open (possibly because I had a full body massage this week so hoping that might have encouraged my lymphatic drainage system)and my eyebrow lady yesterday was commenting on how slim my legs were which was a nice compliment! She even sent a message last night saying she thought I should be very proud of such a terrific achievement. It is lovely when you have one of life‘s cheerleaders in your circle, isn’t it?

I have a uni reunion this weekend and I was just planning on what to wear. I was thinking about dress that wore to DD‘s birthday in early March and looking back over my Shotsy app I can see I am exactly 10lbs lighter today than I was when I wore the dress so hoping that will look even better this weekend 🤞 frankly I’m just grateful for the choice and not having to wear some shapeless affair! And no bloody shapewear!

I think I’m going to have a real loose skin problem as my weight goes down. My legs are already starting to look like melted candle wax around the inner thigh. Makes me sad what I have done to my body 🙁

Goodness that sounds a lot to be coping with. My DH has had a heart condition for the past 18 months which has been difficult to navigate and reappeared last week so I can relate to how you’re feeling.

My dentist has a tablet that you update with any Meds that you’re on before you go in so I don’t have to tell the receptionist or anything which makes life a bit less awkward. However, I do live in an area which is generally vanity central so I’m guessing that 95% of the patients are probably on MJ 🤣

Anyway, good luck at the dentist later (I once had to have three root canal treatments in 48 hours as the dentist couldn’t be certain which tooth was actually the issue and quite possibly it was all three! So hopefully you won’t be as bad as that!)

Oh my gosh that must have been an horrific 48 hours! I have had several root canals over the years (teeth are not my strong point). One has unfortunately failed and I have a small abscess. It only hurts occasionally (flares up and down) and it’s going to be tricky to either redo the root canal or remove the tooth altogether so we’ve been leaving it alone for now until things get worse… amazingly at yesterdays appointment the dentist observed the tissue looked good and I know I haven’t had any pain since before Christmas. Am now wondering whether a coincidence or MJ related?

Anyhoo the dentist appointment went well, thank goodness.

Sorry to hear about your DH @mounjaropen. Heart problems are very difficult. My DH has heart failure and has been recommended to go on the transplant waiting list. He is still deliberating, it is such a big decision (I think he’s also in denial, though I can’t blame him). He is however still working at the moment and his health is ok ish, albeit up and down.

On the topics of nicer things, on jeans - I love a bootcut / flare. I have thunder thighs so need something to balance them out - skinny jeans look dreadful on me unless I wear them with a knee high boot. Interestingly my barrel leg jeans (also TU @evilharpy) do not look terrible, but I haven’t braved wearing them outside of the house yet!

I’ve had lots of NSVs this week whilst going through clothes I’d squirrelled away in the attic. Lots to still slim back into but also a few things which fit. Putting lots on vinted to slim down what I have, seeing everything laid out I feel like a bit of a hoarder!
