Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Frustratingly I still have another 1lb to go to reach the 4 stone weight loss goal. So close but fingers crossed I will reach it sometime next week. Then I have another stone to go to be overweight so I will keep buggering on to achieve that at least, after all I have been a big chunky for 25 years! Off to get my 10k steps in now.

Well done on the steps! I have 2.4lbs to go and it is proving to be the hardest to shift so far!

I'm way behind in keeping up with everyone's updates again! But some amazing results posted in the last few pages, well done everyone! I've been a bit up and down throughout May but have net loss of about 5lbs since the start of the month. I would love another half a stone off by 21 June when we go on hols but I think it'll be a bit slower than that which is fine.

I am now back in all my old size 12 jeans (mainly supermarket so vanity sized although I do still have a couple of small 14s from H&M and Zara). All my size 10s were skinnies which I got rid of when they went out of fashion, maybe one or two hiding in the back of the cupboard, so when I outgrow the current batch of jeans I will have to buy new ones. I am really not happy with how baggy I am around the middle though and hoping it'll eventually tighten back up a bit. It's not an apron or lots of loose skin, just a bit baggy!

Well done on the new jeans! I must be out of fashion as I never threw any skinnies away but my old size tens were bootcut flares anyway 😂

@Cantbesure I am not prepared to tell anyone yet (other than DH, DD, dentist and doctor - there’s a pattern there 😂) Maybe once I am just overweight as opposed to being just obese. I don’t want to jinx my progress and I don’t want friends to say ‘oh it’s just down to MJ , I would if I could afford 170 a month’etc. Plus once it’s out it’s out.

Well we all know it is not as simple as taking the drug...!😂 I agree once it is out it is out, but if you are able to trust who you tell it is a non-issue from my point of view.

@Mounjaropen I love holiday prep almost as much as the holiday! We aren't going away (also Greece) until August so I'm very jealous your holiday is so soon. I had always said I wouldn't do Greece in August because of the heat but I'm hoping being much lighter than last time will help.

Ooh I love the heat and it looks like it is around 26 at the moment. Probably not a bad thing as DH is on meds that mean he shouldn't really be in the sun...😫

Am also on the holiday prep! I forgot to book a bikini wax in time, though, and now can’t get an appointment. Going to buy a home wax kit from Boots tomorrow and have at it. I also have a really weird ASOS bikini to return - it’s size 12, and it’s so high waisted that the crotch hangs down about two inches below my actual crotch. Nope! Either that or I have to pull it up to my rib cage. I don’t think this is a flaw that could be solved by going down a size.

Oh dear that doesn't sound decent at all 😂

I am an immac girl /or razor myself. I really don't like getting my bits out for a wax...!

I'm loving the holiday prep chat it's all so glamorous- my holiday prep is making sure everyone has wellies that still fit, enough bite/sting cream, clear the shelves at the library & (over)buying walk books 🤣

Aww that sounds lovely too. I am not what you would call 'outdoorsy' though and if I can't plug a hairdryer in then that's a hard pass on me staying 😂

5th week on 10mg, (lost track of total weeks)

SW 16.05
CW 12.12
Weight loss this week 3.5lb (surprised and delighted)
Total weight loss 3.5 stone

I am so, so pleased to see a number starting with 12. Hurrah!!!! First time in over 8 years, and when I lose 3 more pounds, I will be the lowest I have been for 18 years.
This is the best birthday present I could possibly give myself!
I am going to allow my self a small slice of cake, made by DD, and couple of glasses of bubbly to celebrate.
I also have a funeral next week far from home, and staying with family for a couple of days. So I won't lose much next week, but it's definitely onwards and downwards, confident that with MJ supporting me I won't go too far off track.

I also love preparing for a holiday. We are not going for another 6 weeks, but after reading @TooExtraImmatureCheddar's message I have booked my pedicure, manicure and leg wax for the days before we leave.

Ive also bought more swimming costumes. These are the 2nd size down from when I started on MJ. They are exactly the same colours and style as the originals, just 2 sizes smaller; Ive gone from a size 20 to a size 16. (I like Lands End as they do swimming costumes in DD (and DDD) fittings)

Well done on the whoosh! And getting to the 12's! Excellent result. And well done with the swimming costume NSV's!

@Cantbesure i totally get this. I’ve not told friends except one who commented on my loss and I know she struggles. I knew she wouldn’t judge and totally got why I wasn’t telling others in the group (some are PT instructors and size 8 so different people).

I have told friends just not people at work. And I didn’t intend to, but then I felt like I’ve misrepresented my weight loss journey to someone who is finding it hard to lose weight. But I really don’t want it widely known at work and so it feels like a risk. We worked on the same team 20 years ago but now just catch up in passing. I suppose there is plenty of information out there about WLIs if she had any interest. I just can’t shake the feeling I was disingenuous and she might have benefited from knowing how MJ has helped me.

random223 · 22/05/2025 18:11

I have told a couple of friends as they have been upset about their own weight loss efforts and wanted to try what I have been doing. I did tell them that I hadn't told anyone else.

random223 · 22/05/2025 18:21

Weighing/jabbing early this week as also often on holidays. Another pound off and my BMI starts with a 25 (25.9 but still!). Unbelievable really. I haven't been in the healthy weight range since before I was pregnant (and my son is 19!!). Fingers crossed we can all make it.

Am in awe of the pampering/grooming preparations taking place. Must make more effort on that front although I have booked a personal shopping appt for end of June.

Well done everyone.

I totally feel the same. A lady at work has lost more than 4st and commented on my loss. She asked what I’d been doing and I said calorie counting initially then sticking to those reduced portions. That’s true.

she’s used mj so I felt a bit like a liar but she’s loud and not subtle so I don’t trust her, plus she asked me in front of directors and I didn’t want them to know.

KentishMama · 22/05/2025 20:21

I'm actually a very very open person, generally, but I've avoided sharing that I'm on GLP-1 at work, too. I have, however, shared that this is the result of changing my cancer meds and working with an endocrinologist to address high insulin levels. That much is true. I've just not mentioned what the endocrinologist prescribed...😂

In my personal life I've been pretty open, at least with close friends. They are very supportive and happy that I'm happy. I know that one of us has mentioned me to another friend who I loosely know because she'd just started MJ, and another asked if it would be ok if she shared it with her mate who has PCOS and can't lose a single pound, no matter what she tries... So I think it's public knowledge now. But I'm ok with that.

On that note, I had one of my regular consultant appointments yesterday to discuss scan results (good news, all stable!). Neurosurgeon. Very posh, very proper, and very lovely guy in his 60s. And he hadn't seen me since October. He was full of compliments and curious about my GLP-1 experience. "You are looking so incredibly... erm... well in yourself!" LOL. Made a change from discussing cancer, anyway.

Just come back in to see how you are all getting on. Still no shift in weight for me since the 7lb came off in the first month or so and I can’t believe that’s it’s all crept back on again ( on 1600 cals per day ) I’ve got Thyroid issue and lipedema so I’ve admitted defeat. Problem is now I’m petrified of stopping entirely in case I pile it on even more, really worried I’ve messed around with my body for so long on diets etc now that I’m screwed.

Cantbesure · 22/05/2025 23:48

@KentishMama hugest of congrats for stable scan news.

random223 · 23/05/2025 07:36

Sorry to hear that @anothercortisolqueen . Did you get to quite a high dose? I had heard some people don't respond very well. Can you concentrate on high quality food and exercise for a while to help you feel healthy even if not losing weight. It is so difficult.

DarkForces · 23/05/2025 07:37

After my month stall at around 11 stone I'm down to 10.8 all of a sudden and bmi of 26.3. Thank Mounjaro. A healthy weight is in sight and my final target of 9 stone is getting closer!

🥳 well done!

9 stone is my ‘off to university’ weight. That was 1990 😂

So sorry to read this. I know you have added health issues but before you this in the towel, you know your BMR? Mine is around 1340 so if I ate 1600 cals with no exercise per day I would gain 0.5lb per week. I really don’t think you’ve messed up or screwed up your body, it is understanding what your individual body needs. Let us know if we can help.

Personal shopper you say? I think that may have been my life’s calling but I missed the boat 😂 Sounds heavenly though, make sure they dish out the champers whilst you admire your new physique!

I am so sorry you're having this experience. That's hard. Have you had a chat to your prescriber about options and next steps?

Was the thyroid issue there before Mounjaro, or caused by it? I'm wondering if the hormonal disturbance from that issue basically counteracts the GLP-1, so if you treat the thyroid, would that help?

Invisablepanic · 23/05/2025 09:52

Weigh in today and I've lost 4.5lbs! After a month of losing just a pound a week I've had my biggest weekly loss since week 1.

I don't feel like I've done anything different this week, apart from my, ahem, clear out last Friday afternoon after the laxative muffins. I'm not questioning it though. I'm not questioning it though, I'm now in the 12's and now just over 4st lost.

@anothercortisolqueen have you spoken to your provider at all? I don't know much about lipedema but I'm sure I saw something saying mj wasn't effective against it even though it appears to be helpful with other types of inflammation.

PinkArt · 23/05/2025 10:20

Weighing in.
W29D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:15st 12lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 3st 11lb

Trying to stop my brain putting a just in front of 'just a pound' off this week, because it's still a pound!
