Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Cookery school does sound fun. I did cookery classes for a few years and enjoyed them. I can cook but get stuck in a rut. Currently using mindful chef a couple of nights a week to break the monotony and I'm enjoying them too

Ooh metabolic age rate you say? How is that measured?

Great losses! Well done!

There is a wizzy machine in my gym that does it. It measures weight, and then you hold two metal poles and I believe it sends little electric pulses through your body and measures muscle mass and water and perhaps some other stuff. It does different bits of your body at a time and then gives you measurements for each part (legs, arms, torso). I don’t really understand the measurements, I just get a lot of satisfaction from the age label at the end.

I really like mindful chef but my hyper fussy family decided they hated them 😩 I was gutted because it is less boring food, and fresh made.

DarkForces · 28/02/2025 10:06

@Mounjaropen Renpho scales calculate metabolic age for you. Mine is depressing and definitely more reason to keep on keeping on this path!

We have to cook separately for dd as she's a very beige eater. Luckily dh loves trying new things too. We like to cook together some nights. I couldn't live on beige alone!

Weighing in.

W15D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:16st 13lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 2st 10lb

No change from last week. Fuming. I should have lost on what I've eaten but I've not been great with water so maybe it all needs flushing out a bit. Onwards and downwards.

Mounjaropen · 28/02/2025 09:39

I know I’m being silly really. My fitness levels have obvious health benefits dizziness aside and it took me ages to get from the mid 12’s to see 11 on the scale so I imagine it’ll be the same here. In two months time I’ll be whingeing because I haven’t seen a nine either 🤣

I am getting dizziness/light headedness a lot. I must be honest, I’m just kind of ignoring it. The absolute worst was when I tried a PT session and my vision was really disrupted. I naturally have low blood pressure, and I think I risk hypoglycaemia. I think part of the problem is I’m not drinking enough, in addition to eating much less.

They need a sympathy reaction on this site. That's rubbish

Quick update from me:

Have now seen the doctor, he was very thorough. Did basic neuro tests pulse listen to my chest heart took my blood pressure standing and sitting wrote down everything I explained about how I was feeling and he has given me blood test forms for a full blood screen. I feel very satisfied that he was so thorough! He thinks that I have developed a particle in my inner ear. I think he called it octocionia? Which have moved position and I need to remove them by doing some specialist exercises every day for two weeks. In the meantime I also have to take my blood pressure for the next week standing and sitting to remove the possibility I’ve made myself dehydrated or hypoglycaemic by taking MJ. He’s also suggested that I might not want to exercise five times a week… Which is probably right. It would be a perverse world where I’ve reduced my caffeine intake, drastically reduced how much alcohol I drink, lost 33lbsand made myself ill in the process.😭😭😭

I love my Surgery, if Carlsberg made surgeries it would be as efficient as this one. E-consult at 8, appointment by 10.30..Dr typed and listened at the same time then directly texted to my phone the relevant NHS leaflets I need to read. If I have a blood test, it texts the results to my phone so that I don’t need to ring and check I appreciate I am very lucky in this regard. Interesting to note, that he did not make any judgement on taking MJ. So I’d share this with everyone in case anyone is nervous of discussing it with their doctor!

Oh @Mounjaropen i had that September 2023 and it was awful. First fortnight was the worst but I did get moments of it for about 6 months. The exercises did help. Hope it passes quickly for you. Great to hear how good your gp was.

Same here @phyllidafosset We were doing Hello Fresh and it made life so much easier but dh is a fusspot and would happily live on bran flakes, mashed potato, beans on toast and just toast. So then that gives the kids an excuse to opt out too 😡

That good to hear re your GP! It's an absolute bun fight trying to get an appointment here and when you do, if you land the younger GPs it's like winning the lottery! But if you get stuck with the older ones...you may as well not bother attending the appointment.

SerenePeer · 28/02/2025 12:43

Gosh. I've just converted my weight in kg to stones and pounds 😳

Shocked to realise I'm now 12st 10lbs. I could see 11 stone something by the start of April. Mid-April for sure if my losses slow down.

Bloody hell.

Starting mounjaro was the best decision I've made in forever. Feeling a bit emotional about how bloody wonderful it is to be honest.

Imagine a summer in dresses with skinny straps....wearing jeans and just a cute little tshirt....wafting around in leggings and a crop top....😳 I'm going to need a beach holiday so I can enjoy not feeling like a whale on the beach! Maybe this summer i can try surfing again!

Only downside, RIP my boobs 😂

Science is bloody wonderful!

DarkForces · 28/02/2025 12:48

Completely @SerenePeer . I've got my bikini at the ready for a beach holiday in October!

DarkForces · 28/02/2025 08:54

Bloody hell @Mounjaropen. You deserve to lose weight after all that. I wonder if it's hormonal? Have a lovely cookery class and glass of wine.

I still haven't recovered from switching scales yet. I'm trying to remind myself that the old shitty bastard scales lied but the result is I've no real idea where I started this journey and how much I've lost... on reflection maybe it's linked to my preference to focus on my clothes size (much to Vinted's advantage).

Going up a dose is kicking in and suppression is back properly. I want a whoosh 😂

I’ll be furious if I weigh more 😂

I must confess I was worried when I saw the male name…assumed I’d be ticked off for being vain. He was a young chap though so did thorough job. Very happy 🥰

With the dizziness, I’m a bit prone to mild labyrinthitis after any sort of cold/virus, and it does usually settle once the general inflammation of nasal/aural passages calms down. You haven’t had anything like that recently, have you?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 28/02/2025 16:35

Took my first 7.5mg earlier - so far so good! Fingers crossed for a whoosh.

No - that's the weird thing. I've never felt better or healthier tbh. Looks like my body has found another way to get me😢
