Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Moved up to 7.5mg yesterday and all good so far. Weirdly no rash around the injection site like I was getting from 5mg. I've had 2 dates so far today and have done a load of boring little jobs. Using my leave over half term to catch up on things!

All the best with your dose up Pumpkin, and hope you have fun with your friends at the weekend!

In hindsight I think I would have done better if I’d stuck on 5 rather than dropping back to 3.75, was scared off due to dramatic and unpleasant diarrhoea and gastric symptoms on day 2 but I think it would have settled if I’d stuck it out and the losses might have carried on. Not going to make the same mistake if the running D’s come back when I go up to 7.5! Will just ride it out until it settles. Need the effects of MJ (the good ones!) to kick back in or no point staying on it really. Am wondering if is related to my physiology, I typically need higher doses of medications for them to work, needed a minor op previously and the amount of local anaesthetic they had to use would have numbed out a rhino! 😂

Hey @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo, I think dropping down a half dose was the right thing to do with GI side effects though. I'm taking my MJ under the supervision of an endocrinologist who has run lots of GLP1 trials, and he did recommend dropping down for a few weeks before "rechallenging", i.e. trying again. He said the GI tract sometimes needs a break to heal after side effects. Remember this is a long game, and as hard as it is, try to be patient with your body as it adjusts!

itsnotagameshow · 27/02/2025 11:54

I've just watched an interesting TikTok from a Mounjaro user who made the point that feeling a bit hungrier or having more food noise from day 5-7 does not automatically mean you are ready to go up a dose as you are experiencing this as the amount of the medication in your system on those days is reduced. Conversely, that means it WAS working well on days 1-4. I guess as long as the hunger and food noise is manageable on the later days of the week, it is good practice for managing this when we are not on the jabs... I struggle a bit I know with the feeling of hunger, whereas I should be feeling it before a meal!

DarkForces · 27/02/2025 12:31

I'm planning to stay on wl medication in the long term (although hoping a pill will be available by then) so not really worried about learning to cope without them. I'm going to go down once I reach my goal weight to find the right level for maintenance but I think the evidence is weighted towards always needing some support to stay a healthy weight after you've been obese.

TeenLifeMum · 27/02/2025 13:18

I think I totally skipped the last thread. Life has been tough this month with dh’s job up in the air (whole organisation restructuring and redundancies). Dh is now safe with a role he thinks he’ll enjoy so time will tell.

weightloss has been slow and up and down. I started the week at 10st 9 but then yesterday was 10st 12, but this morning I’m 10st 8. I think the scales need new batteries.

8lbs to go still feels hard right now, but I have to remember the difference since November is massive.

F 42
sw - 12st 9
cw - 10st 8
gw - 10st (10st 5 is “healthy” bmi so anything under that)

murraymcgill · 27/02/2025 13:19

Thinking of swimwear I don't think I've wore anything like that since before I had Liam and he's 27 this year I haven't been on a (hot) holiday to do this any way but maybe shorts this summer 🤔

That’s interesting, and I guess eating well for most of the week allows more flex on other days, we just need to make sure the bigger eating days aren’t the majority.

I’m so so tired with brain fog and can’t decide if it’s mj or I’m peri menopausal.

Goldleafcat · 27/02/2025 14:19

Thanks @Mounjaropen for the new thread! Checking in. Nothing exciting to report (main weigh in tomorrow, have started taking Friday as the main weigh in day, ahead of weekend chaos). Ooh swimwear. I panic bought a size 22 costume in Sports Direct so I could have a paddle with my son in the sea last September. It fitted, which was not great!

I started using a mild retinol on my face last night (Boots no. 7 - 0.3%). Where should I be putting this? I just put it on my forehead but think I should use it more widely?

I suspect you’ll be needing another swimsuit now!

Retinol in the PM only, Avoid the eye area and some prefer to avoid around the mouth as you can get inflammation/dryness there. Apply 3 x this week and if no reaction then every other night. You should be ok at that strength, Make sure you have a good SPF on each day from now on.

Sorry to hear about DH’s work issues. I’m glad that you have come through it. Your weight loss is amazing so far! I’ve noticed that my scales are reading differently if I step on and off them so I’m going to change my scale batteries today and see if it’s that or whether or not I just need to buy some new scales! 8lbs to go is awesome!

I am loving the Trinny London Elevate neck cream. Too early to say if it’s making a difference to a crepey neck but let’s see how it goes. Only one week in.

Morning all.

First check in for a while, but still lurking.

W18 D4
Current dose 6.6mg (split with 2 injections per week to manage symptoms)

F45
SW 13st 6lb
CW 10st 10lb
TW 9st 7lb
Total loss 38lb
SBMI 32.6
CBMI 25.7

6lb to go til healthy weight range.

Hit a plateau 3 weeks ago, bouncing around with 1lb on 1lb off. Struggling with food noise but increasing dose leads to bad side effects so trying to manage as I am.

Currently with Oushk as I plan to continue with maintenance as I don't feel I will be able to manage without MJ on level. Not decided how that will look yet.

I've noticeably lost weight now, monitoring my face closely especially my neckline as I'm conscious of a 'turkey neck'. My tummy is stubbornly flabby 🙄😒

Onwards to us all, we've come so far. Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen

Fabulous loss so far!

I’[m all about the Turkey neck these days….😩

Sadly not. But being Ryan Gosling ready is definitely an mj bonus! Give it a year 😂

itsnotagameshow · 27/02/2025 15:05

My scales also read differently when I step on and off and then weigh again (despite changing the battery). Does anyone rate body composition scales or are they rubbish unless £££?

Checking in!

F43 (menopausal after cancer)
WK15 D5 on 3.75 mg
SW 93.1 kg BMI 30.1
CW 79 kg BMI 26.1
GW 75 kg BMI 24.8 (but may adjust this when I see my endocrinologist next month)

I'm doing well again on 3.75 mg. I had to drop down from 5 mg after GI issues.

You are doing so well!

Do you mind sharing how you established your GI? Do you have a monitor?

I am full of admiration for anyone who is dealing with serious health issues alongside the rest of us who do not have that additional worry ❤️

SW 90 kg
CW 74.8 kg
Total loss 15.2 kg
w15 loss 0.8

i did eat out the last 2 nights which led to me putting on 200g 😂

my loss has slowed a bit but I think my hormones are at play too.

might up my dose or jab every 6 days for a bit, I have 2 unopened 5mg pens in the fridge, so I could count clicks and increase. I think I’m a bit nervous as I did feel wiped out for the first 2 months on day 2 and I don’t have that now, I’d be reluctant to go back to that feeling!

I was talking to a friend about WLI (the one i mentioned previously) she is going to give them a go. Her doctor offered her a gastric
sleeve but said he couldn’t prescribe her WLI

it is so frustrating that they are offering invasive high risk surgery that requires hospital time when there is such pressure on our hospitals over a simple medicine that can be administered at home 😤😤

Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen i definitely need to go swimwear shopping 😁

It is mental isn’t it - imagine the cost of the pre and post operative care for serious bariatric surgery nevermind the cost of the surgery itself as opposed to taking WL meds. No wonder the NHS is losing so much £. Madness.

Thank you. Yes I used an SPF this morning. Will see if the retinol helps. I got it on Boots £10 Tuesday!

But from one bargain, to a potentially expensive investment, @Pumpkinforever I’ve been eyeing up (boom boom) the Trinny London Take Back Time eye cream - keep getting bombarded with ads for it on Facebook. But it is £65, and I already have a few little tubes of eye cream to use up first. Let us know how you get on with the Elevator!

Glad your DH has some stability now. It’s awful going through things like that. I faced into redundancy this time last year, decided to try for the role they had suggested and was fortunately (I think!) successful. Lots more change to come this year though (my company has been bought by another) so will see what happens. If it all happens again, at least I’ve picked up a bit more experience in the mean time is what I’m telling myself!

Fab weight loss!
