Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Was hoping to hit -6 stone this week but not quite. So far I’m -5 stone 12.5 pounds. Still another 3.5 stone to go.

These are such fantastic losses, and next weigh-in day hopefully you will hit that next milestone 🎉🎉🎉 🤞🤞

random223 · 22/03/2025 10:00

2lbs off for me this week.

Still feels like a long way to go but technically I 'only' have a stone more to hit the top of the healthy BMI. I would have been stunned at this in November so trying not to be too impatient!

I find the impatience really difficult 🤣 the lower end of the last weight bracket was a really good place to be already, but I think it was just a little bit of disbelief that I would make to below that. But now I am in my last stone to lose, it is very exciting! Looking forward to your healthy BMI celebrations soon 😁

phyllidafosset · 22/03/2025 11:23

@Goldleafcat my colleague does research on menopause and she also recommended the Newsome page/app as the best source of information on peri/menopause on the web.

phyllidafosset · 22/03/2025 11:33

Having hit my 9’s (and 2 1/2 stone lost), I lost a bit more yesterday, and thought it was than bounce down I get (before I bounce up), so kind of ignored it, but then today it was down again!?!!!! Would be 2.8lbs lost this week (if it stays that way), which is the most I have lost in a week since I moved up a dose! So, for all of you hovering above that lower stone category, with my case of one as my scientific evidence (🤣🤦‍♀️) I am concluding that you will all get your woooshes 😁🎉🤞🤞🤞 I actually think it maybe period related because after three lighter than usual periods, the current one is back to being much heavier. If only it would also take away the flabby belly 🤣

Goldleafcat · 22/03/2025 10:47

This is amazing! Well done!

It’s quite powerful seeing the BMI difference isn’t it.

It is indeed. It's the first time I've actually calculated it since the free version of the Shotsy app only tells you current BMI. I knew it had gone down, but I'm weirdly proud how much.

TeenLifeMum · 22/03/2025 14:55

My weight has massively fluctuated over the last month. I’m back down to 10st 7 (I was last at 2 weeks ago) and am recovering from a uti. No clue where that came from as I’ve not had one since pregnancy 13 years ago.

my old running partner got in touch to say he misses our friendship and can we either run again (I had to stop because I got injured) or find another activity. Dh wants to try running again too so I am going to start slow and gentle. Memories of my half marathon this time 5 years ago (2020) keep coming up when I was skinny and fit. 😭

Still need 2lbs of to not be “overweight” and I have until 31 March so this week I’m on it!

LilyRose88 · 22/03/2025 15:47

Just checking in. I started on 7.5mg last Sunday having been on 5mg since November. The side effects were pretty strong - nausea and reflux and absolutely no appetite. I have lost 2 lbs this week and am down to 10st 4lbs, so have lost 26lbs overall. I am 5ft 6 so now within the normal BMI range. I want to get down to 10 stone but have decided to go back to 5mg for my next jab as I didn't like the side effects with 7.5mg, and will taper down to micro-dosing for a while to help with maintenance once I hit 10 stone. Asda has confirmed that they will support maintenance but I'm not sure for how long, as I haven't had a detailed conversation with them yet.
I have started back doing home weights workouts as I let that slip since the beginning of the year. I have continued to do one weights class and one yoga class a week throughout, but have noticed a decrease in my strength so am trying to build it back up. I have definitely lost some muscle mass so need to get that back.

Sorry to hear about the UTI. Running with a partner/friend is always better and good to mix up the exercise patterns 💪

I’ve said before I wish they were number/letter codes and I would 💯 give them away on here. Would much rather that than waste them 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll just order all the free ones and then have a garage sale that includes Mounjaro 😆

Invite me to your garage sale 😅

I read this article yesterday. Firstly, I’m not a big fan of either the DM or click bait articles. However, for the past couple of weeks I have had some really odd pains in my ears akin to earache which I haven’t had since I was a child. I thought I would share this article in case anybody else has had similar symptoms and we might want to keep an eye on it.

I am 100% not a subscriber to daily mail plus….However, if you click on the article and then in your spacebar click on “ show reader” you can read this article without having to subscribe or pay. I have also had the balance issues so I am a bit sensitive to it at the moment. Fitness crossed, it’s a coincidence.

After taking Ozempic, I'm losing my memory, sight, speech and hearing

After being resigned to being obese, South Carolina-based Brad Roberts couldn't believe it when he lost 24lbs in a month on weight loss drugs.

Bloody hell what a dreadful experience he has had! Also it sounds like he’s had an appalling doctor / medical team absolutely driven by money rather than professional care. He did also lose a huge amount of weight in one year.

Keeping everything crossed your ear pain is just natural / random and not related to MJ.

It wouldn’t be vertigo / tinnitus related? I remember my DM developing both in her 40s/50s (ah won’t we all love middle age!).

I think I’m sensitive to these articles because of my recent Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo diagnosis which has been sudden and onset. But, I’ve also developed painful ears…so I guess I’m putting it out there in case anyone has had similar issues…

I’ve not had any issues in the past…🤞it’s a coincidence.

@Mounjaropen I’m sure that was what I had September 2023. I had to crawl to the toilet as the room was spinning. After the first few days it had improved but I didn’t drive for 3 weeks and worked from home, sitting with my head straight because any movement set me off. It hung around until the following March but to a lesser degree (laying down at night I was momentarily aware but it passed faster than initially). I’ve since learned it’s really common peri menopause symptom. (Of course it bloody is)

Goodness! Hopefully it is a coincidence, it was just that my ears started hurting in the past couple of weeks so it made me think…obviously the DM loves a good WL scare story and on this occasion, mission accomplished 😂

cynical me would suggest it’s age related and the proportion of people taking mj is likely higher in our age range.

I’m so so happy the weather is better. sat in the garden with my morning coffee is my happy place. I also seem to have acquired 2 pet magpies who are hanging out with me despite the dogs.

That’s early for a Sunday! But reminded me that weekend after next I have to drop eldest dd at school for 4am. Urgh. I guess I can go back to bed after and traffic should be clear.

You’re probably right. The ear pain is weird though, Enjoy the weather and coffee, at least there are two magpies..,I’m very superstitious about them 😂

Smashed avocado with chilli, lime and salt on granary toast for me this morning served with a couple of slices of streaky bacon plus fresh coffee in a cafetière. And served in bed. DH is a keeper today. I’ve lit my Jo Malone candle next to me and I’m about to read the papers for as long as the dog will let me 😂

Chilling at home day here. Roast pork here for later which I’m going to use Matt Tebutt’s Saturday kitchen recipe yesterday for (fennel and garlic) and I’m going to make a chocolate mousse with 100g of dark chocolate, sea salt a touch of maple syrup and 3 leftover egg whites from DH’s carbonara earlier in the week. If he’s very good and brings up a second pot of coffee before I get up I’ll make him some cheese straws to have whilst the Grand Prix is on. 😉

Happy Sunday everyone!
