Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Last night’s fajitas definitely felt suppression - had one then couldn’t eat my normal second. Left the left overs on the table to go to the loo then returned to find the puppy standing on the table having eaten all the left over spicy chicken and moved to the cooked peppers and courgette 🙈 she had a big belly.

Don’t panic! What do your food macros and measurements say for the week? All might not be lost. The answer is there somewhere!

Calorie count has been pretty low - there's been quite a lot of soup which I'd hoped was a double win as it added liquids too. Potentially a bit more sugary stuff than some other weeks but not enough to gain. Maybe a bit lower on protein than it could have been.
And for someone with IBS and on Mounjaro I've done some lovely poos this week, so it's not that!

Suppression = good news. Puppy + spicy peppers and courgettes = not so good news 😱 I hope you don’t see that remerging somewhere within the house!

Maybe up your protein intake this coming week? It might be that your body has gone into starvation mode hanging onto every calorie if you haven’t eaten as much as usual? Good news on the 💩 front! Well jel 😂

(TMI) Having had diarrhoea pretty much every week for about 15 years I can't tell you what a delight the slowing down on mounjaro has been. Even the occasional bit of full on constipation is almost a refreshing change!

Weigh in done. I'm very happy. Somehow I've lost 5lbs in the 9 weeks instead of putting weight on. I was careful to eat mainly protein (chicken tikka) for dinner and to avoid all the delicious garlic cheese naan breads. i drank quite a lot of vodke but also loads of water. Now onto a 7.5 jab tonight.

have a great weekend everyone.

What a joyous Friday thread. Well done for all the losses, milestones, NSVs, smaller clothes and happy poos. And a huge cheer for 9 weeks on holiday equalling a massive loss!! Jealous and impressed!

Yep - you lot are all absolutely amazing! 💪

No booze last night so thought I’d have a cheeky weigh in…. 11st 0.8lbs. So close to breaking into the 10’s!

2.4lbs loss for the week which I’ll take given that I went on the piss on Wednesday.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 22/03/2025 08:12

Oooh, so close, @Mounjaropen!

random223 · 22/03/2025 08:20

Well done @Mounjaropen . Tantalisingly close!

OliviaFlaversham · 22/03/2025 09:55

Was hoping to hit -6 stone this week but not quite. So far I’m -5 stone 12.5 pounds. Still another 3.5 stone to go.

random223 · 22/03/2025 10:00

2lbs off for me this week.

Still feels like a long way to go but technically I 'only' have a stone more to hit the top of the healthy BMI. I would have been stunned at this in November so trying not to be too impatient!

2lbs is awesome. Well done! 7,000 calorie deficit for the week. When I look at stats like that I realise just how much I was overeating by - especially in hidden/forgotten calories.

Congratulations on the loss! Hope the MIL doesn’t piss on your chips!

HRT is a personal choice. I wish I’d started it years earlier than I did (so in my mid 40’s). I grew up in a household where my mother was self-congratulatory about never having taken HRT but frankly it was the breakdown of her relationship with my father and also myself put simply she was an absolute nightmare to live with. She boasted about not having taken HRT right up to her death. It was nothing to be proud of…It was at the point of which DH took me to one side and said I was becoming very difficult to live with that cemented my phone call to the GP. I never wanted to put my family through what I had been through. My friend was also a bit resistant to go on HRT (I don’t think she wanted to acknowledge her age) but a fall revealed that she had the precursor to osteoporosis and went on it pretty sharpish after that. I would advise doing your research (Dr Louise Newsom has a very informative app called Balance) and decide what it is you want to achieve from taking HRT. Not everybody suffers from vagina atrophy., I didn’t but several close friends did. It really is the luck of the menopause draw!

Safe travels.

Thank you. Maybe MIL should piss on my chips, it’ll stop me from eating them! 😆

Thank you for sharing about your experience - very personal and helpful, really appreciated. ❤️

My DM had me at 41 then apparently the year after her periods ceased. She didn’t take HRT. I do recall her and my father having quite a lot of arguments on and off throughout my childhood, but not sure whether that was hormonal or other things (I recall my dad being equally as difficult and moody at times!).

I’ve definitely had moments of ‘rage’ and whilst I’m not necessarily getting brain fog per se, I’m increasingly finding it harder to stay motivated and focused on things. Have read a couple of interesting articles recently which resonate. I have also had quite a stressful couple of years (DH has heart failure, major surgery needed for DS, nearly made redundant last year, etc) (I’ve already lost my parents so that’s already been addressed I suppose).

I shall be checking out Dr Newsome / Balance and doing lots of reading up so I will be well prepared for a convo with the GP. I’ve heard good things about body identical HRT?

Thanks for the support lovely. 🥰

Agreed! Well done everyone! 🌟

It’s amazing how far everyone has come since we started. Just imagine what we can achieve in the next 4 months!

Jab and weigh in day here and just took my first 12.5

W19 D1
SW 16st 4lbs
CW 13st 1lbs
GW 10st (ish)
Dose: 12.5mg

My BMI is now 30.4 so I am approaching overweight rather than obese. It was 37.9 when I started.😮

I’m on bio identical HRT. It seemed the best fit. And was what friends were being prescribed privately. I started my HRT journey when not much sympathy/knowledge was out there so the research helped me ask for what I needed. I’m on Oestrogen gel, micronised progesterone and testosterone. All NHS. The game changer for me was testosterone which I asked for after 6 months on the other two hormones. the GP was happy to prescribe after my levels were established and confirmed I understood the risks. No side effects except for a few stray hairs on my inner thighs…I found not mentioning brain fog but low libido was the reason GP’s were happy to prescribe Testosterone but frankly it was my motivation for seeking it. And it was like a cloud lifted in my head.

You sound like the place I was in - stress at home, family, worrying times which all added to feelings of despair. Keep strong and look after yourself 💐

Good luck with the MIL!

Can you share your good fortune?😉😂

I’ve said before I wish they were number/letter codes and I would 💯 give them away on here. Would much rather that than waste them 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ll just order all the free ones and then have a garage sale that includes Mounjaro 😆
