Started MJ 2.5mg on Feb 14th. Have 3 stone to lose ideally but 1 stone by April would be more than acceptable (holiday booked).

I've not lost a lb yet according to scales, despite eating carefully (minimal carbs and anti inflammatory diet). My appetite is still there? Reduced alcohol to 1 short diluted in very large glass of diet lemonade instead of 2 + glasses of wine in the evening.

Side effects: slight headache, bit constipated and worst is feeling the cold all the time. My feet and hands frozen.

Did anyone not lose any weight to start with?

I'm the same as you Izzie. Not a change in my weight since Friday when I had my first jab.
I'm sticking to my tdee too.

@Sprinkly yesss! I wasn't sure it was MJ related as isn't usually listed as a side effect, but I became REALLY itchy around the start of week 2 and then developed leg cramps/spasms later the same week (both only at night). Combined with feeling constantly cold and having insomnia issues anyway (hence posting at 4am 😅) it did not make for a good night's sleep!

Now halfway through week 3 and both the itchiness and the leg spasms have disappeared (still cold though 🥶). Hopefully it'll be the same for you! I think I'd still rather have had that than the gastric issues/D&V others have reported so I still count myself as having got off pretty lightly in terms of side effects (so far...)

I’m going to a wedding in 8 weeks. I normally totally stress out about what I’ll wear and usually spend the day feeling very self conscious and a bit sad.

Actually starting to feel cautiously optimistic that this one will be different. Hoping I’ll walk into a high street shop a few days before and buy a new dress that I feel great in! (High street shopping has been impossible / totally depressing for at least 5 years).

Anyone else have an event coming up that they are hoping to feel differently about?

(Also, any wedding guest outfit ideas very much welcome! I have no idea how to shop anymore).

What’s your rough budget for the wedding guest dress? I love shopping remotely!

I have a very glam birthday party invite to a club next month. Very specific dress code - I’ve picked up something from Vinted for £20 thinking it won’t matter too much if I can’t fit it. But now I’m hoping I might!

Febnewbie · 18/02/2025 07:10

Weird here in that I really feel like I have eaten less, I feel smaller and like I have lost at least bloat but the scales don't show it really - hard to say with fluctuations but I am maybe a pound down.

Planning second dose today, a day earlier because I want to move my day to Tuesday

SW 13st 8lb
CW 13st 7lb

FunnyCrabDance · 18/02/2025 07:14

@Mounjaroday
I have my Dad's 80th birthday party at the end of July, I started looking at lovely dresses online but it will be very interesting to see what size I end up ordering much nearer the time. I find it quite hard to imagine a slim version of myself as it's probably 20 years ago since I was a size 14.
How exciting for wedding outfit shopping, hopefully you'll feel wonderful and maybe share a photo here too!

@Itsbathtime i have had the same observations about thin people working really hard at it, either in terms of being prepped for healthier choices or just not choosing unhealthy options when out. I could definitely learn a few of those habits. Eg when we went on holiday, I saw they never once ordered chips with their meals, whereas I would have quite happily, justifying in some way.

I am BMI 27/8 so not like I am doing this all the time, but my food choices could definitely do with some improvement.

Romanswindowcleaner · 18/02/2025 07:19

@Febnewbie have you got a tape measure lying about to do waist and hip measurements? That might be more motivating?

Yes I had the same thought this morning and have taken some measurements but I do find - maybe this is just me being crap at it - that it's hard to be precise with a tape measure, never quite sure if I am holding it more loosely or whatever!

I think the other thing I will do is check again clothing

Easy enough as my pen is hidden in my too small clothes bag which no one ever looks in..

I'm likely to do my online consultation tonight and get my husband to do my fat pic. I just keep getting nervous about long term effects and putting it off by another day! I've got about 6 stone to lose.

Snap ! My DH did it with Boots last night. He’s got about 5 or 6 stone to lose. For him it’s about the side of effects of being obese. He’s got a very physically active job and has been having horrendous sciatica because of the weight. He wants to work as long as he can pain free hence the need to lose weight !

Yes - when I’m with my v thin (argh) sister in law I notice she never touches snacks / crisps that are put out with drinks etc - the interesting bit of course is whether that’s easy for her (as it is for us when on Mounjaro) and much harder for me for some reason to do w hunger signals or something or if I’ve got used to indulging in crisps and it’s a habit I can break. I certainly found when I gave up smoking a lot of it was psychological - but I think the smoking ban helped enormously too - wish there could be a crisp ban!

keeponplodding7 · 18/02/2025 08:08

Time to do jab 2 today a day early (kind of jab 3 but I had a two week break after the first one). Last night was my first night I woke up at 1am really uncomfortable. No pain but I felt bloated and just uncomfortable. I took a colpermin and eventually about 4am it wore off but it is the first bad night I’ve had. Makes me once again nervous to do this one but I have to do it today or my 30 days are over!

Hangryfastjo · 18/02/2025 08:20

Took my first jab Thursday at 6pm. I've woken up this morning with my stomach literally growling at me 🤣, I'm definitely hungry! Also a pain I had in the back of my head has returned. This has made me realise it definitely was doing something for me.
I was waiting till my 1 week check in to do a review of the first week, but I've had no side effects except feeling very cold. I was constantly analysing if I had any suppression etc and I'm still not sure. But I really felt id had a shot of willpower, which felt great.

Feb2025start · 18/02/2025 08:23

@Mounjaroday @FunnyCrabDance @Romanswindowcleaner I'm sure you'll all look and feel amazing!

For me there's no specific 'big' event coming up, but I and my mates do love outdoorsy stuff (often involving swimming in lakes/rivers/the sea etc) and going to gigs and music festivals over the summer. It's going to be amazing to (hopefully) feel like I can swim in an actual bikini (without one of DH's XXL black t-shirts as a cover up), and dress up a bit when I go out instead of trying to hide in the background in leggings and the aforementioned t-shirts! I tend towards a punky/rock kinda style and it's hard to 'dress' a larger figure without being either really OTT or really grungy(/borderline bag lady) 😬. Looking forward to rooting around in my bags of 'been too fat to wear for years but can't bear to chuck out' clothes 😆

I’m thinking budget of around £200 including a pair of shoes.
That’s probably what I spent on myself for the whole of last year (and pretty much exclusively in the supermarkets).

I might be wrong but aren’t you suppose to keep the one in the fridge? Or I got that totally wrong?

I had understood it could be out of the fridge for 30 days so once you started using it basically it's fine out

I've seen these they're lovely. What colour style are you going for? Id like to get one as a reward when i reach my goal weight. They're expensive but look so well made.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 18/02/2025 09:37

I haven't got a specific event to aim at, but my sister is coming to stay at the end of April and I haven't seen her for over 6 years - she lives in Australia.

The last time I saw her was pre COVID, and I weighed around 10 stone 10lbs. I'd like to be back there if I can by then. Obviously she won't see a difference. We video chat each week but she only ever sees my head and shoulders!

She has always been very petite and I have always felt like a hulk next to her, even when I was much smaller. She's also incredibly fit. She's coming over to run the London Marathon.
