I started 10 days ago

BMI 36.2
weight 95.9 Kg
todays weight 93.6

I have no appetite, and currently no side effects which was my main concern!

I would like to be around 75/80 Kg

sc0ttishlass · 17/02/2025 11:26

Hello all..I'm on week 2 day 5. This time last week I definitely felt the suppression wear off so let's see.

An observation from me. I used to spend my whole life thinking and acting around food. If I was going on holiday or away with friends my immediate focus would be on what we were eating.. all the time. Also every single time I went to a shop (a lot) I bought myself treats.. cakes sweets etc. Albeit I'm currently obsessing over taking this, I yhink it's going to free up so much of my head space to not be constantly thinking of food. I'm envious of people who are born like this :)
@OverTheTopOfTheMountain I think you mentioned snacks. I've been buying those protein yogurts in a pouch and they are lovely. I've also craves oranges and mango so made sure I've had them in.
Have a good day all xxx

IzzieadoraDuncan · 17/02/2025 11:30

Started MJ 2.5mg on Feb 14th. Have 3 stone to lose ideally but 1 stone by April would be more than acceptable (holiday booked).

I've not lost a lb yet according to scales, despite eating carefully (minimal carbs and anti inflammatory diet). My appetite is still there? Reduced alcohol to 1 short diluted in very large glass of diet lemonade instead of 2 + glasses of wine in the evening.

Side effects: slight headache, bit constipated and worst is feeling the cold all the time. My feet and hands frozen.

Did anyone not lose any weight to start with?

MounjaMum · 17/02/2025 11:44

Hello all

I have not lost anything since starting ..very disappointing. I have cut down my eating as well but no exercise at present.

Yesterday was a pretty bad side effect day. I had really bad acid reflux and burps - so much that I slept almost in a sitting position in bed.
My eating was📧(had a lazy no cooking yesterday)
Cheese baguette at 12.30 (woke up at 11 and had a coffee) - added some tomatoes and lettuce/cucumber/ red onions to make it healthier
1 pastry at 4
1 chicken sandwich on brown bread at 5.

2 glasses of water and in total 2 green teas and 2 coffees throughout the day.
But the acid reflux was really bad - burning my throat and kept oming up when burping.

Anyone had that?

sc0ttishlass · 17/02/2025 11:45

@IzzieadoraDuncan I had lot of water weight/bloat to lose initially so will br different, but the first couple of days I wasn't sure the appetite suppression was working and felt I was eating less as I was worrying about side effects of eating badly..then almost all of a sudden it kicked in. I only had that feeling off full suppression for maybe 3 days and it wore off again at end of week but still there enough to make me eat better and less.
Week 2 and although I've not felt the desire to eat as much I've not got the same intense supresion feeling which I'm actually desperate to feel again. From everything I've read everyone is different. Just keep going x

Ilovelemonandsugarpancakes · 17/02/2025 12:05

Thanks for the new thread :-)

No side effects for me yet fingers crossed apart from (like everyone else!) being absolutely freeeeeezing! Why is that? Does anyone know? I'm sat at work with my coat on!

I had my 2nd jab on Friday. Weirdly felt really light headed for the rest of the day.

RememberDecember · 17/02/2025 12:55

PandaPeacock · 17/02/2025 09:26

Did my first jab yesterday in my upper thigh and honestly didn't feel anything. Thought there would be more of a prick.

@PandaPeacock i know what you mean, I was also expecting to feel more of a jab!

Littlebitpsycho · 17/02/2025 13:03

Week 2 day 5 for me and oh my god my hands are so cold - all the time!

I'm usually one of those weirdos out in a t-shirt when it's 2 degrees so this is really bizarre for me

Feb2025start · 17/02/2025 13:31

I'm also sooooo cold! I'm usually fine with just an extra jumper or something if it's a bit chilly at home, but the last few days I've felt cold to the bone and had to insist on the heating being ramped up. God knows what our heating bills are going to be at this rate 🥶😅

ScottyDOESknow · 17/02/2025 13:37

Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaroday

Week 3 Day 3 - 6lbs down in total and so far apart from some initial constipation and tending to be a bit bloated after injecting it has been fairly smooth sailing. I have been cold this week but in fairness its brassic in my part of UK at the moment so could be coincidence.

Still unsure if I want to go up to 5mg yet, I've had good suppression so far and only felt it creeping in on the day before I was due to inject. Will see how this week goes...

Hoping we are all losers this week 😂

LaundryQueenX3 · 17/02/2025 14:01

Hello!
Just had my dispatch email, so hoping to start at the end of this week when the package arrives! Nervous and excited all rolled into one!!

Looking forward to this journey together.

I have either tablespoon cottage cheese with an avocado or a poached egg on 2 rice cakes or ''0 fat natural yogurt with either cup full of frozen or fresh fruit for breakfast.

A banana around lunch time with handful of walnuts.

Dinner by 6pm is meat or fish with veg and piece of fruit or big bowl of salad.

4 cups of coffee in a day, 1 glass vit C tablet dissolved with liquid collagen and a short with diet lemonade.

All bread, pastries, pasta and processed foods out and no nightshade plants such as tomatoes or spuds (reduces inflamation) as have osteoarthritis badly and awaiting surgery.

BMI was 32.5 according to Doc, who wants to see it down to 28.

@MounjaMum - how long have you been on MJ? Would it help changing your carbs for healthier options?

FunnyCrabDance · 17/02/2025 14:33

Thank you @Mounjaroday for new thread!
Isn't February racing by now?
For those that have reordered from med express, @MJSpideySenses i think you mentioned price match? How did you go about getting that?
I dont know whether to shop around for lowest offer and do the photo nonsense again or stick with med express and suck up paying a bit more...
Definitely ordering a 5mg pen next, and separately some syringes to get the extra doses out!

MJSpideySenses · 17/02/2025 15:02

@FunnyCrabDance I screenshot the cheaper price and messaged them. They only match certain suppliers, so it wasn't the cheapest option still. All the information was easy to find on their website and they reply to emails within a day usually.

Copied from their email...

We only price match with items sold directly
by the following retailers: Superdrug
Online Doctor, Zava, Juniper, Simple
Online Pharmacy, Oxford Online
Pharmacy, Boots Online Doctor, Asda
Online Doctor, Lloyds Pharmacy Online
Doctor, Pharmacy2U, Voy, Chemist4U
HealthExpress, Numan

Edited

I have been on 3 weeks now.
Definitely needs to relook at my diet.
I have osteoarthritis as well and I am on steroid injections. I also had my gallbladder removed, so acid reflux was already an issue prior to MJ.
Thanks for the advice, will replan my food and hope for better results!

ExplodingCarrots · 17/02/2025 15:14

@MJSpideySenses I didn't realise medexpress price matched . Thank you for the info below so I'll know for next time . Gutted, I could have saved some money .

ExplodingCarrots · 17/02/2025 15:20

I've just seen they still price match 7 days after purchase ! Nice one . Getting on that now .

Feb2025start · 17/02/2025 15:20

@MounjaMum I agree with @IzzieadoraDuncan re carbs - it's recommended to reduce refined carbs like bread etc, and definitely anything rich/heavy like pastries. I'm having porridge with fruit for breakfast, then lunches and dinners are mostly lean protein and veg with wholegrain/'good' carbs like brown rice, quinoa, the odd Ryvita etc. Very minimal fats/fatty foods, so I don't have added butter or oils. I haven't had any side effects other than feeling a bit sick after a roast (I'd stuck to the healthy bits as much as possible but still had a bit of the carby/fatty stuff too!). I'm drinking mostly water and peppermint tea which is meant to be good for gastric side effects.

I know when I have had nausea previously (not on MJ) it feels hard to stomach anything but really bland/stodgy comfort foods like plain sandwiches/toast etc! So I can absolutely understand why you'd automatically reach for those, but if the end result is more nausea/reflux I do think a diet overhaul is probably needed. Good luck 😊

SansaClegane · 17/02/2025 15:22

Hi all, just hopping on here to mark my place!
Commented on the previous thread this morning- it's week 2 for me now and side effects still manageable.

I was thinking of also doing a bit of IF but I think i will start with 3 meals and healthier options then if I can, I will incorporate IF and skip breakfast.
Fingers 🤞...my next weigh in is Thursday.

SongToTheSiren · 17/02/2025 15:48

Hi all

I've done my 2nd jab today.
My first week went fine, no side effects except for a headache the day after my first jab but that may have been because I also started cutting down on drinking coke zero (I'm hoping that mounjaro will also help me to get over my coke zero addiction as well as lose weight) No nausea etc which I was happy about having read the experiences of other people. Not loads of suppression as I still felt hungry between meals but when I had something to eat I did feel full straight away.

SW 15 st 3lbs
Weighed myself on Friday morning as I knew I had a busy weekend with several family events involving food! Weighed 15st 0lbs on Friday but weighed myself again this morning and I've put 1lb back on over the weekend 🤣 Ah well, that's bound to happen over the coming months so I'm not going to worry too much about it.

Like others here I haven't told DH I'm taking the medication as he's always been slim and, although he tries, has never really understood why I have such a struggle with my weight. Only problem is he got me the usual box of chocs for valentine's which are now calling to me 🤣

Mum2Fergus · 17/02/2025 15:49

Thank you! Wk1D3 for me, nothing to report as yet...not remotely hungry and no side effects-long may this continue!

OntheTrainX · 17/02/2025 15:52

Great info about the price match. Thank you.

In think I’ll stick with MedExpress for ease. It was a real palaver getting them to accept my photos and I don’t want to go though it with another supplier. I’m medically obese (14 stone +) but don’t look it which is nice in most ways but has been a pain in relation to Mounjaro.

Everyothernamewasalreadyinuse · 17/02/2025 16:14

Place marking. Still going ok. Have ordered my 2nd Pen today and decided to go for the 5mg. Just waiting for med express to OK it.

Have seen that Chemist4u have it cheaper, so will give it a couple of days (once it has dispatched incase it causes problems) and then email Med express to see if they will price match it - Has anyone else tried to use their price match? did they get shirty about it?

Hangryfastjo · 17/02/2025 16:27

Hi All

Does anyone order from IQ doctor? Looking at the mounjaro price comparison, they have 20% off. Is that all orders or just your first?
I'm looking at the 5ml pen next and trying to see the cheapest. I went with oushk for my first and they've been brill.
Don't really want to swap and change but probably will at some point and wondering if I shoukd now at the start.
Thanks for any help
