Started yesterday
SW 94kg
GW 70kg ( hopefully by autumn so we can TTC again after xmas)
Used MedExpress and got my first pen for £85 using their price match and a referal code which feels like a bargain looking at the next doses.
Really hope i do loose some weight on this first pen so i don't get disheartened, sticking to 1200-1500 calories and hoping i can stick to it with the motivation of i'm spending money. It's been tough as during pregnancy and first 9m of breastfeeding i could eat what i want and i didn't gain but once i returned to work so did the kg!

pinkcow123 · 17/02/2025 16:53

Thanks for new thread!

Week three jab yesterday and no side effects for the first time since starting.
But I am feeling hungry today!

I wasn't going to up to 5mg, but I'll have to see how this week pans out!

Probably doesn't help in working in my kitchen, with the slow cooker on which smells amazing!!

Ohsoverytired11 · 17/02/2025 16:58

Thanks for starting new thread. Still feeling sude effects today after a rough night. Lesson learnt, don't eat the carbs just because you feel like you can!

MJSpideySenses · 17/02/2025 17:15

@Everyothernamewasalreadyinuse I sent off the price match as soon as I'd ordered. It was fine. They messaged to say they'd credit my account with the difference plus £5.

Acolite · 17/02/2025 19:05

First injection yesterday evening, so wasn’t sure what to expect today. Think ive been lucky as it couldn’t have gone better. Felt slightly nauseous this morning and did not feel hungry. I made myself eat a banana as we had planned to go on a 4-5 mile walk. Only managed 3/4 of the banana and couldn’t stomach the rest.
The poor dog started limping mid walk, so we only walked 2 miles, but it was nice to get out.
Had a bagel with cream cheese for lunch, was rushing to get out so no time to eat any more.
I do a regular activity on a Monday afternoon. Don’t tend to feel hungry when i am there as I am busy thinking about other things. Felt completely normal whilst i was there. No nausea. Didn’t feel hungry, but didn't not feel hungry either.
Made beef kofta curry, tarka dhal, naan and rice for dinner. This probably took best part of two hours in total and i would normally be very hungry after eating so little during the day, but i did not feel hungry AT ALL. It was the most surreal experience. Someone mentioned how jealous they feel of people who are like this naturally and I agree.
I managed a couple of tablespoons of rice and dhal and I made myself a very small naan. I ate it all, but only because I made myself. I would have happily stopped after a few forkfuls.
I also don’t want to go too low on the calories, so will try and have 30-40g nuts later.
I really hope this is how my journey will continue, although I know there are going to be blips on the way.

Romanswindowcleaner · 17/02/2025 19:08

Hello wondering if I can join? 👋. Had my first jab today. I was SO nervous and it didn’t hurt at all. Then I thought I’d broken the pen as it took an age to get to “1”.

I’m not going to tell anyone in real life so it’s great to be able to share here (though I did tell DH in case I keeled over and someone needed to tell the paramedics what medication I was on!).

BMI 28 but high cholesterol and high BP so prescribed from medexpress.

Romanswindowcleaner · 17/02/2025 19:11

Hi @Acolite - snap on the first day! I had two poached eggs on one piece of toast for breakfast and felt a bit refluxy so just managed some berries and yoghurt for lunch. Dinner was some left over chicken and green vege. Ate about 2/3 of the calories I usually would in a day.

tweetypi · 17/02/2025 19:14

Checking in on thread 2! I did my week 2 jab today, a day late. I had good suppression last week and only fairly mild side effects. I think I underate at the start of the week because I was so excited to have no appetite! Going to aim for a more steady one this week.

Happy days!

OverTheTopOfTheMountain · 17/02/2025 19:46

@MounjaMum i found asking ChatGPT first some guidance really helpful.
You really want to be eating enough proteins, esp if you’re not exercising. I would add the reflux you’re getting and any other things that could be relevant (eg specified diet, easy to prepare, other illnesses etc…).
I think it’s quite good at giving you an idea of how much you should be eating and what.

ChatGPT mentioned no fried/heavy foods (like pastry) as it could make reflux worse. Also advised ginger tea to help with the reflux. Maybe that could help too.

fwiw it’s not unusual to not loose weight on 2.5mg. We’re all different and dint all react to NJ the same way.

SchoolDilemma17 · 17/02/2025 19:50

Day 2 for me. Lost 3 stone 2 years ago w Saxenda and gained it all again. Saxenda also doesn’t work for me anymore.
tried MJ, all good so far, no side effects. Eat two meals - and so far didn’t need dinner. Also try and drink lots of water. Feel very depressed as I am at my heaviest now and I am such a yoyo dieter. I also feel everything in my life is good and going well apart from I am too fat 😭😭😭.

Trying to lose 4 stone overall (a quarter of my current weight) and very importantly not gain it again!!

flipflop76 · 17/02/2025 19:54

I'm likely to do my online consultation tonight and get my husband to do my fat pic. I just keep getting nervous about long term effects and putting it off by another day! I've got about 6 stone to lose.

0987654321q · 17/02/2025 19:59

Didn't think I'd be able to start until Friday but now I should be on day 1 tomorrow.

Some of you seem to be eating so little and report feeling too full.

I get it. I'm just a bit concerned as I want to still eat 1600 calories if I can. I've been on a vlcd diet before and it's pretty obvious how that worked out for me. I hope to stay active and have a decent calorie intake. Can now only see how it goes...

Itsbathtime · 17/02/2025 20:05

interesting to see lots of people saying that they are enjoying feeling how thin people feel - I thought I’d offer a different perspective. I’m sure it’s true that there are people who really do feel naturally like they are on Mounjaro (v jealous) but I had the interesting experience for a number of years of working closely with a group of about 5 very thin women - and actually what struck me is that they didn’t find it ‘easy’ to be thin - they worked really hard at it. They had all sorts of ways of eating - starving themselves after a holiday, only ever eating half of any meal etc - and obviously they had a different set of voices in their head than many of us do - that maybe meant their food noise was different, or maybe they didn’t feel hunger in the same way - but I was left with was a realisation that many thin people really work at being thin too - I’m interested in the dialogue around glp1s often suggesting that those of us w weight to lose are fundamentally different than our thin sisters - and I think that could be ultimately a bit demotivating- I think the reality is probably a bit more complex.

sc0ttishlass · 17/02/2025 11:45

@IzzieadoraDuncan I had lot of water weight/bloat to lose initially so will br different, but the first couple of days I wasn't sure the appetite suppression was working and felt I was eating less as I was worrying about side effects of eating badly..then almost all of a sudden it kicked in. I only had that feeling off full suppression for maybe 3 days and it wore off again at end of week but still there enough to make me eat better and less.
Week 2 and although I've not felt the desire to eat as much I've not got the same intense supresion feeling which I'm actually desperate to feel again. From everything I've read everyone is different. Just keep going x

Im on w2d3 as well and feel much hungrier than I did last week. Which I think is a bit weird

sc0ttishlass · 17/02/2025 20:17

@Itsbathtime I mentioned up thread about being jealous! But I totally agree with you. Only one friend knows I'm on this (as she has been on for 6 months) and we were discussing how there are a mix in our friendship group. Yhere are definitely those that work SO hard to be thin and are equally as obsessed with what they eat as I am (hopefully was) but there are others who seem to lack the food noise at all and just go with the flow (and, surprise surprise, have a balanced diet and exercise). I would love to be like that, only because I find it so liberating just now, not only thinking about where I csn get my next food fix from! A friend just messaged me to ask to go to a concert. Normally I would instantly think about what that means for dinner plans and it was so lovely to think I can just go and enjoy the concert! I also keep thinking my expenditure on food will be so much less so net net it's good! X

Bluehels · 17/02/2025 20:18

@Hangryfastjo I used IQ doctor to order my second pen. It cost me just over £100 for a 5mg pen. I had no problems and was pleased to get a discount.
I used medexpress for my first pen. I am planning to move each time to get the best deal, I am not a loyal customer!

@Hangryfastjo hi there, I've just ordered my 5ml pen from IQ Dr but mine cost about 137 or thereabouts, how did you get yours so much cheaper (if you don't mind me asking) xxx

I think it depends on how active you are as to how many calories you need and active means different things to all of us.

Pre needing a new hip I was on the go all day, eating at least 1,600 calories just to maintain weight. I have worked out due to reduced mobility, now 1,200 or less calories may be all I need.

Plus re-educating myself to eating smaller portions whilst making healthily food choices.

Good luck to everyone in the chat on this journey

Hello, I was enquiring about IQ Doctor, it was @Bluehels that got it cheaper there.
I think I will use them next.

Thanks both x

Bluehels · 17/02/2025 22:05

@NikkiReader
I found a discount code through this price comparison site.
https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/
I think the one i used is expired now but there are others.
I plan to work my way through this list to get as many discounts as possible.

I’m supposed to be on 1600 calories too. I’m trying to eat food I will be happy with long term so it seems wrong to make myself eat when I’m not hungry or deliberately choose high calorie food that I don’t really want.

So agree - must be amazing to be someone who’s literally never has to waste energy worrying about food, who always looks good in whatever they try on and who likes being photographed!! That’s the dream!

I’m going to a wedding in 8 weeks. I normally totally stress out about what I’ll wear and usually spend the day feeling very self conscious and a bit sad.

Actually starting to feel cautiously optimistic that this one will be different. Hoping I’ll walk into a high street shop a few days before and buy a new dress that I feel great in! (High street shopping has been impossible / totally depressing for at least 5 years).

Anyone else have an event coming up that they are hoping to feel differently about?

(Also, any wedding guest outfit ideas very much welcome! I have no idea how to shop anymore).
