Hi everyone
Hoping I can get some help. I started mounjaro back in April and have managed to lose 4 stone which I'm very happy about.

We went on holiday about a month ago so wanted to take 1 weeks break, however I then had a sickness bug and covid so have been off it for 5 weeks. Now I'm thinking I may as well start back at 2.5mg but I have a 12.5mg pen in the fridge. If I go to 12 clicks, would this equate to a 2.5mg dose?

Hey, is the 12.5mg pen open? If not, I'd actually try and buy a lower dose pen and titrate up again from bottom.

If you're taking 2.5mg from the 12.5mg you'll only get about 12.5mg out the pen before it's past it's 30 days.

So maybe try and get a 5mg pen? You might be able to move back up quicker than every 4 weeks, but after being off for 5 weeks you'll need to treat it like starting again.

Good morning everyone.

Happy to report I am back to the weight I was when I ended MJ. 9.7. Period is just ending and I dropped 3lbs since yesterday for the water bloat.

The moral of this story is very much that periods suck. Hormonal cravings are a beast. Exercise is so, so important. It is scary how quickly it can all spiral. Equally, with a bit of back to basics it can be caught and rectified very quickly.

Choux · 13/11/2024 12:31

@FlappyFish knowledge is power. In 21-28 days time if you see the scales rising and the urge to eat increasing you will know it's just a temporary blip and you will get control back in a few days. Hopefully that will make it a bit easier to just Keep Calm and Carry On.

KrankyKumquat · 13/11/2024 14:39

@FlappyFish Good news! God, us women have to put up with a lot, don't we?

Just had my Ouskh maintenance consultation. As I'm at a good, healthy weight we agreed I'd stay on current 10mg dose to get me past Christmas safely (I'm as worried about re-starting drinking as much as I am about re-gaining weight), then drop to 7.5 in the New Year. I can amend the dose any month if I want so I'm doing a mix of maintaining dose and tapering on one plan, so it's very personalised. Just need to check in again with Hira in 3 months.
I talked about staying on very long term due to age, family history of heart disease, dementia, stroke, T2D and no issues with that as long as my weight doesn't drop too low (can't believe I'm actually having to consider this😅). Also advised to get full bloods tested at GP health check at end of the month - I'll look into doing this privately if doc won't agree, just for peace of mind.

Moanranger · 13/11/2024 14:52

@KrankyKumquat FYI medics are supposed to give you blood tests if you ask, but won’t offer them as a matter of course. Seems odd, but that’s NHS policy. Good luck!

NCfor24 · 13/11/2024 21:18

@KrankyKumquat that sounds very much what I want to do. I still have a few lbs to lose but getting into the new year before tapering sounds like a good plan. My consultation with Hira is on Monday.

Good luck for Monday. I'm sure you'll be fine, Hira was very sympathetic to my concerns and really happy to personalise the plan. Getting on the maintenance plan now rather than later also means you get the 15% off and free postage!

Hello everyone. Marking place 😘

KeepingUndercover · 14/11/2024 09:58

Hello new thread. Checking my newly not obese self in. I can also report that my order with IQ Doctor went very smoothly, delivered fast, well packaged, nice and cold. They do give you 6mm needles though, but I've got a box of 4mm so I shall ignore those.

pinktransit · 14/11/2024 10:06

Hey everyone
A pound up this week, but I haven't been drinking enough water, and I've had some bread. And a 3lb loss last week, which was a bit of a surprise, so I'm not too unhappy. Will prioritise water!
Measured this morning too, and have dropped another few inches over the last 2 months.
Really thinking about maintenance, I do have another couple of pens and will then make an appointment with Oushk and see where I go from there. I've been on 7.5mg since my third pen, which gives some suppression and requires some willpower.

SW: 12.6.6
CW: 8.12.2
GW: 8.7.0

Total weight loss 50.3 lbs, or 3 stone 9 lbs. Or 22.8 kg.
(This is going from 28th March, first jab day. It's slightly more if I go from before that as I did lose just over 5lbs in the month or so beforehand).

CiderJabs · 14/11/2024 10:31

That's amazing @pinktransit! How tall are you?

I'm still sort on my period and sort of not so I don't know what the score is with my weight. I'm back at 9-13 which is a bit infuriating!!! Jab day tomorrow and I'm yet to decide how much I'll take.

pinktransit · 14/11/2024 11:13

@CiderJabs - I am rather pleased with it all! I am only 5'3", so nearly 13 stone was decidedly rotund.
8st 7lbs will put me right in the middle of the healthy range, and seems like a good goal. I don't think I'll go below that, my natural weight in my twenties/early thirties was 8 stone 2. At 55, I think 8.2 is slightly too low, and risks looking gaunt in a way that you don't when you're younger.

Although I am post-menopausal, I still think there's a hormonal cycle effect on weight loss. Every 4th week I have a much lower loss/occasional gain which I think would coincide with period week if I still had them.

Moanranger · 14/11/2024 13:03

Hello all,
I am on my 5th week of 7.5, and I have total suppression & marked fatigue. I am 3lbs from goal, with one 7.5 pen left.
I never had suppression like this before. I know I need to eat, but cannot find any food appetising. When I do eat a modest, healthy meal, I feel uncomfortable, like I have just finished a banquet. On lower doses I would say that my appetite was dulled, but not gone entirely. With no food noise, I could still enjoy eating, make good choices, and stop when full. Complete suppression is no fun!
I start a new pen today, so another 5 weeks on 7.5, and I will for sure titrate down after that.
It’s funny, I see comments on FB, etc saying, “Oh, 7.5 did nothing for me” etc, etc. I don’t think it really works like that (absent the remote possibility of a compromised pen). It’s more about how MJ accumulates in your body,, I think. Defo working for me, a bit too much!

AgathaMystery · 14/11/2024 18:00

@CiderJabs that advice from your GP is seriously outdated. I second the mirena coil - it will also give you progesterone to work with your HRT. Mirena are expensive and I’ve never met a GP that will offer one freely. If you feel able to advocate for yourself, I’d honestly suggest it. I really feel for you xxx

KeepingUndercover · 14/11/2024 18:06

I wouldn't even bother with the GP for birth control. I always go to the family planning/sexual health clinic. They are much more knowledgeable around what's available and on putting them in. Also when I got mine fitted they told me that the Mirena can help with the menopause. (Edit, I realize Agatha already said this!) I got the non Mirena cheaper version (Kyleena I think) because I wasn't there yet, but I expect next time I might get the upgrade.

CiderJabs · 14/11/2024 19:42

Thank you both. So I'm not too old? I'm almost 51 and I've had 3/4 periods this year only - but have had symptoms every month even when no bleeding.

I was 55 when I had the Mirena Coil fitted. I was having terrible heavy periods before then even with HRT. They pretty much stopped straight away and no symptoms since.

Moanranger · 14/11/2024 19:57

Today is jab day & I have been so off, debating whether to take it, but I went ahead. - I am so close to goal. I then perused The Mumsnet boards, and there does seem to be a theme of nausea, D & V suddenly appearing after 5+ months. I then went on a dose calculator (tells you how much is in body after so many doses) It looks like this is the peak week, with it dropping back in the next couple of weeks. I hope that is right! I really want to come to the end of the journey with no glitches.

AgathaMystery · 14/11/2024 21:01

I’ve just done my 1st 10mg - 8 days after my last jab. It hurt - that’s never happened to me before. Really bloody stung.

I haven’t lost in a month but have maintained which has been a good if slightly pricey experiment. I think I can probs maintain on about 5mg every 10 days. We shall see. I still have 10kg to go but don’t actually think I want to lose that much.

Has anyone else decided not to go deep into healthy BMI? I honestly think I might look a bit ghastly if I do.

KeepingUndercover · 14/11/2024 22:47

I'm not even sure I'm that interested in getting into healthy BMI at all! I don't mind being a bit bigger from an aesthetic or health point of view. I'm not really sure where I want to be weight wise, but I'd be quite happy being a size 12/14. I don't have great ambitions to be very slim. I don't think I'd feel like me!

I'm in this boat myself.

Have lost around 40kg (!) since March, and have maybe 8-10 to go. Somewhere around 6-7kg would get me to BMI 25.

But I feel like I'm almost where I want to land. I've gone from a large 22 to size 16, moving into 14s currently (I'm fairly tall) and hoping to be a comfortable 14 by the end of this. I'm not concentrating on the scales number so much as I have an apron belly which won't go away and will be contributing to my weight.

I am so much fitter than I was before I started and feel amazing. I don't cringe when I see myself in photos which is an incredible feeling.

I will never ever regret this drug, and even if I don't lose anymore, I'd be thrilled. And now I just need to maintain.
