I normally lie in bed on a Sunday morning reading the papers but last Sunday I read thread one and I have just caught up on thread two.
I am so glad I have found you again. It has been so reassuring to hear many of you are being less rigorous than you were about protein, water etc as that is me too; interesting to know about the issues with warmer/short dated pens as that has made me go "aaah!"; amusing to see the frustrations of my fellow short arses (I am amazed at how some of you are hitting a healthy BMI at what was my obese weight); and fascinating to read the game plans of those approaching maintenance and the trials and tribulations of those of you coming off MJ. Other than the posts about bereavements (love to those who you who have suffered from terrible losses in the past few months), the post which really resonated and brought tears to my eyes was @KrankyKumquat saying that, after a long coastal walk, she just felt normal.
I just feel normal and, for me, that is the biggest NSV there is. I'm still not quite a healthy BMI and am losing weight painfully slowly but I no longer feel self conscious and I often feel good. I think it's one of the reasons I feel so awkward when people compliment me on my weight loss or how I'm looking as I feel as though there's actually nothing to see here.

ObsidianTree · 24/11/2024 09:14

I've not been on here for ages so will try and catch up today!

Well done for all the losses, hitting the next stone brackets etc.

Great pics for those that have shared. Everyone is doing so well 😊

@ObsidianTree
🙋
Have missed seeing a chunk of green from you in the thread! Hope you're doing ok.

ObsidianTree · 24/11/2024 09:48

Update from me. Thought I would show some pics. Although, I don't think I've changed much since last time I posted pics. Maybe a bit lost from my arms. First pic was close to my heaviest weight at around 16st ish. Current pic from a few days ago and currently weigh 11st 2lbs. My BMI is around 23.7. Still classed as overweight according to NHS BMI calculator.

I think I'll go for 10st as my ultimate goal. That would put my BMI at around 21.5. I am on my last 15mg pen and then will start titrating down to 12.5, then 10, then maybe 7.5. I do think the losing weight part is addictive. Especially as I've never been skinny before so to actually be able to get to a goal weight I could never imagine is exciting to me. I think my body looks ok now but I don't think I look slim. Maybe just average. I doubt I will lose much more belly weight but hopefully the extra stone off will help.

I went clothes shopping recently and I'm fitting into size 10 dresses. So weird but feels good that I can do that.

Hey @KrankyKumquat. Well done on getting into the 10s by the way 😊 I'm close! Hopefully before Xmas!

Wow ObsidianTree you look great and size 10!!! Strangely I’m looking slimmer but I’m staying a very similar weight (13 4 ish) I go down a bit then back up and I think it’s partly to do with the 12.5 affecting me quite badly when I first take it so the first day or two I feel awful , cold, exhausted and nauseous and then even when I feel a bit better through the week I am still a bit more picky with what I can cope with , no spicy food etc all very bland . I’m wondering about trying to spread the dose through the week but not sure how .

ObsidianTree · 24/11/2024 10:02

@Mortigua yes it's weird fitting into a size 10! I can't quite believe I'm that slim and just assume shops now have vanity sizing! Lol! Also, it's only in dresses I'm a 10, in jeans I'm a 12.

Are the doses getting harder to deal with the side effects? Sounds like 12.5 is too strong for you, but as you say the weight isn't moving. Very strange! Maybe you're due a big woosh!

@ObsidianTree
You look amazing 😍. And size 10 dresses - go you xx
As I've hit goal weight, 10st10b, this morning, OH is taking me to an outlet store this week to buy me my Levi 501s. In a size 14!! First ever pair, at 58 years old😂. He's made me promise to not lose any more weight as he say's they're too expensive to send to charity after a month like my M&S size 16s. Fair point.
If I can summon up the courage, I'll do photos..

Flapearedknave · 24/11/2024 11:42

@ObsidianTree you look fabulous! Well done!

I'm 10 stone 5 now but still a size 14 and in 5'6. I feel like I should be in smaller sizes, but then check myself that I was wearing a 22 in February! And I'm curvy, bra size is currently 32hh!

Id really like to be in a 12!

Thanks yes I feel like it’s too strong and not making me able to calorie count as I am having things like plain toast rather than my veg. It’s also harder to move .
Im so impressed with yours and everyone else’s successes , it motivates me to carry on !

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 24/11/2024 17:36

I am now fully caught up on this thread too. What amazing photos! I was particularly pleased to see yours @ObsidianTree as I always think of you as the thread "mum" so am delighted that you have continued to do so well on it as, if you hadn't, these threads might have fallen away and it sounds as though we need the collective support more than ever as we get to goal or work out what goal is.
I started back in April with a BMI of 30, and that was at the end of the day and after drinking a lot of water. I had little suppression on 2.5mg, did the extra dose with no issues so went up to 5mg and was violently ill so then went back to 2.5 and very slowly built up to 5mg. I lost 18lbs in the first 3 months and have only lost 4 more lbs in the four months since then! This isn't bothering me as much as it might have done (or should given I have spent another £700 on the pens in that time). Well, I say that but I found the five week stall before we went on holiday in the summer incredibly frustrating. I gained a bit whilst away but managed to lose that easily and then another 2lbs came off. I yo-yo'd there for a while and, in hindsight (and with the benefit of thread 2), that was whilst using a possibly warm 5mg and then, finally, going up to 7.5mg which was close to its expiry date and had no effect on me whatsoever so I went up to 10mg. That is causing some suppression but really not much. However, I'm conscious I've often done 8 or 9 doses between jabs due to life, haven't facilitated it by eating loads of protein and drinking lots of water. Having had a couple of big family birthdays and other events, it's actually been nice to properly enjoy the food and feel in control of how much I was eating. More suppression would have been a bit of an inconvenience. Also, I am constantly grateful for the fact that, whilst my loss might have stalled at a BMI of 25.5 and I have "only" lost 22lbs, those are 22lbs that I have failed to lose for the last few years.
I have ordered another 10mg. I have been with MedExpress from the outset and, after dispatching this order, they sent me a questionnaire to fill in asking questions about what impact I was seeing this have on my sleep and a range of health issues which I thought was interesting,
Can I ask what people's plans are about Christmas? I traditionally gain 7lbs over Xmas and then used to lose it in January but have failed to do that for the last two years, instead having it stuck to my bum and thighs. I feel more confident going into Christmas but think I will wait until the NY before increasing my dose again as I really don't want sulphur burbs or other side effects over Xmas

ThirdStorm · 24/11/2024 18:07

Christmas is my danger zone. This year I am not buying the avalanche of food and treats I normally do. I’m sticking to my meal plan and calories. On Christmas Day I’ll enjoy all the usual trimmings for lunch and will allow myself some Christmas pudding and cheese board but that’s it. It’s just a normal week food wise for me. I’ve asked for no food stuffs as Christmas presents either. I normally gain at least 7lb over Christmas then another 7lb in the new year and then it’s slips and slips and then I’m in trouble again. Not doing this again.

KeepingUndercover · 25/11/2024 09:36

I'm just going to keep on my standard dose over Christmas. I think Christmas day is around the time I usually inject so I'll probably leave it until after Christmas and do 10 days rather than 7 as some weeks I feel quite nauseous after injecting, other weeks I'm fine.

I have just been staring at my thighs in horror. I've hit a weird point where they actually look worse for having lost some weight as it doesn't go evenly round the whole leg so they seem fatter at the back. I have also spent the morning googling "will my butt come back after Mounjaro". Reddit says there is hope, so that's something.

CiderJabs · 25/11/2024 13:24

If anyone wants to order from health express I've just been given another 10% off code. I've ordered a 7.5 and a 10 and they both have long expiry dates. BMI 24ish and they approved me. £315 for the two pens. And these will (have to) be my last!

AgathaMystery · 25/11/2024 13:46

I’m just going to keep plodding on. New weight on the scales this week. 69kg (154lb or 11st).

Seems absolutely mental to me that I could get to this weight after 5years of menopause etc.

I think if we can treat xmas like a nice time to see people, make our homes cosy, hopefully have some time to relax (ha) after what has been, probably for all of us, a really emotional year - then we’ll be okay.

KrankyKumquat · 25/11/2024 14:49

First ever routine health check at GPs today. Height and weight confirmed as being same as at home which was a relief! Nurse rounded up my 22.2 BMI to 23 which I thought was a bit unnecessary! BP low, Diabetes test was 4.8 which she said was fab as was cholesterol ratio of 3.1. So all good. Heart rate was high but I was very nervous so not concerned by that. She didn't mention MJ and I didn't feel inclined to either in the end, just noted 65lbs loss, with barely a flicker of interest. Ah well, glad I've sorted myself out, without their help, but nice to have confirmation that basic stats are all looking very good for my age and family history.

NextPrimeMinister · 25/11/2024 19:03

65lb loss and not even a pause??!!

I'll happily tell you that's amazing 👏 🤩

pinktransit · 25/11/2024 19:23

I'm being titrated down by MedExpress!

No option but to reduce my dose, which is actually ok, as I was planning on doing so after Christmas. Currently I'm on 7.5mg from a 10mg pen (although I did have 10mg this week).

I answered the usual questionnaire when ordering, weight equates to a BMI of 23.7. I got this email from them:

MedExpress Clinical Care (MedExpress)

Hello

Thank you for your recent MedExpress order.

Our Clinical team has reviewed and prescribed your treatment.

Based on the information provided to date, we noticed that you have need to decrease in strength since your last order to provide breaching product licensing, as if you BMI drops below 23.5, we won't be able to supply you.

With this in mind, I suggest we reduce your dosage towards a maintenance dosage and change this to 7.5mg and keep reducing by 2.5mg per monthly until we reach a stable dosage to maintenance your weight and BMI.

If you are experiencing any side effects or need support about what treatment and strength is right for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and our Clinical team would be happy to assist you. Your order has been placed on hold, pending a reply to this email.

We are always happy to discuss ways to manage and minimise side effects, as well as ensuring you are getting the best out of your treatment.

Kind regards,
MedExpress Clinical Team

So I guess that if I stay just above 23.5 BMI they will continue to supply, but not if I drop below. I am pretty much where I want to be, could do a couple more pounds off just to give a round figure and a bit of breathing space to gain/lose a bit.

Will have to see how I go over Christmas and see what happens with my next order.

KrankyKumquat · 25/11/2024 19:33

Thank you @NextPrimeMinister
Yes it was all a bit of an anti-climax.
Thought I should have at least got a 'whoop, whoop'. Maybe the nurse is happier giving lectures about eating less, moving more and I stole her thunder...

IrisPallida · 25/11/2024 19:48

@pinktransit Thank you for reporting this. It has made up my mind to move from MedExress to a pharmacy that supports maintenance. Actually to any supplier that is supportive, full stop.

Does anyone know whether this 'breaching product licensing' malarkey actually exists, or did they make it up?

ThirdStorm · 25/11/2024 19:55

@pinktransit thanks for sharing, good to know how it happens. Feels very like a cut off doesn’t it. Glad you can make it work for your circumstances.

NCfor24 · 25/11/2024 20:13

@pinktransit that's interesting. I'm sure I read somewhere MedExpress did a sudden stop and refusal to prescribe but at least that sounds semi supportive of maintenance. As it happens I've just decided to move to Oushk at BMI 24.2 so won't be ordering from MedExpress again but I suspect I'd be ok as my target weight is probably over 23.5 (need to check but only want 7lbs off now). I've moved for a long term supply to maintain, no way can I go it alone yet!

NSV yesterday.... Tried on a dress my husband bought me when I last lost a significant amount of weight - it fits! Even better when I went downstairs to show him he recognised it. The dress was bought in France in 2007! I'm tempted to try my wedding dress on and see if that will fit. I'm fairly convinced I'm bigger than I was when we married but maybe I just feel bigger. My tummy is definitely wobblier post pregnancies but maybe overall I'm a similar size. I'll report back when I'm brave enough to try.

I ordered a dress for my works Christmas party in a size 10 as reviews say it was on the large size. Happy to say it fitted but it was so shapeless I'm returning it. Size 16/18 me would have loved it for not clinging to anything but since I'm so much smaller than I was last Christmas I kind of want people to know 😂
The size 10 t-shirt I ordered fitted but I don't like it and size 12/14 was far too big. Apparently I just don't know how to choose clothes anymore!

Moanranger · 25/11/2024 22:36

Just finished watching Irresistable: why we can’t stop eating on BBC 2. V enlightening!

Smallsalt · 25/11/2024 23:51

Not sure if this has been posted, but Med Ex doing double price match.
Just got 15mg for £131 by getting them to match The Private Pharmacy.

I flounced from them a few weeks back after all their excuses not to match. Been doing Esurgery.
But that price was to good not to try for, and they did it!

Will go back to Esurgery though. They let you pay extra for quick postage. I am in a remote area and ME pens were taking ages and arriving warm. Paying extra at Esurgery gets them to me in 24 hours for first time ever.
But........£131😄, couldn't be resisted!

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 26/11/2024 07:15

Does anyone else find that they still make a right mess of doing the injection sometimes? I have only ever injected into my stomach and, being right handed, always struggle a bit more when I'm injecting on the right side of my body as I'm primarily using my left hand.
Last night, I started, it did about 6 clicks then seemed to completely stop, I removed it, gave it another push & nothing. Swapped the needle, gave it another push & still nothing. Gave it another push and the MJ liquid shot across the bathroom! Put it back into my stomach and managed to get the rest of the liquid into me but when I withdrew the needle there was a little bit of blood which very rarely happens. Then I managed to prick my finger removing the needle!
So on something like the 28th time of doing this, I managed to squirt some of the dose across the bathroom, get the angle wrong on the jab and get my finger. Other weeks, I'm pretty much doing it with my eyes closed!
