Just finished watching Irresistable: why we can’t stop eating on BBC 2. V enlightening!

Ooh thanks I will give it a watch Smile

Scalessayeek · 26/11/2024 07:44

Been dancing round the living room this morning, tomorrow is 9 months in for me and I made it to 8 stone off this morning!!

Just 11-18 pounds to go!

Also NSV I went out at 35 years old in public without a bra for the first time in 25 years!

ObsidianTree · 26/11/2024 07:55

Re Xmas, I plan to take my dose as normal for Christmas. I will probably be on 12.5 by then though. So not sure if I will be less suppressed. I've bought treats for the kids stockings but not though about buying treats for the house. Odd actually! Probably won't buy any Xmas snacks this year I don't think. The kids stockings will be enough treats for them. Going to a pub lunch for Xmas day so no need to over buy food etc.

@pinktransit med express does sound dodgy now. So if you fall a lb they will cut you off. As I have heard they have done to others! Probably worth looking for a better maintenance option.

Also the 23.5 guidelines is their own making. Other providers have different opinions. Even Zava are now saying they will provide for maintenance between BMI 22 - 23!! Changed their tune quick! Lol.

@Scalessayeek
Wow, 8stone!! That's incredible... very well done, you must feel amazing, no wonder you're dancing. I'm having a little jig for you right now.

ObsidianTree · 26/11/2024 08:07

@KrankyKumquat well done on reaching goal! Would love to see some pics! Also, great work at the Drs! Shame the nurse had nothing to say!

@Flapearedknave it's weird how body shapes work! It felt like it took a long time for me to start losing dress sizes. Even now I still fit size 16s well. They are my comfy jeans. Also, try on some size 10 dresses! You'd be surprised how little difference there is between the smaller sizes!

@thehousewiththesagegreensofa thank you 😊 it's been great sharing the journey with you all 😊 sorry you've had some struggles. But great that you've got to BMI 25.

Yes me too. I'm staying on 10mg till the New Year. Christmas Day being mid-week with jab on Saturday should fit well with slightly better appetite. I'm beginning to pick up a little bit of concern from my OH about my weight loss and lack of interest in food so already feeling a bit of pressure to 'join in' and be more normal. I have noticed a feeling of slight panic when faced with food I don't want, which is similar to how I would feel when I was a teenager and got into a bit of a mess with extreme dieting so this is an interesting development. A week of less restriction may do me good I think.

ObsidianTree · 26/11/2024 08:58

@KrankyKumquat I am worried about Xmas day and having a 3 course meal! There is no way I'm going to be able to eat it all! Hopefully my husband still has space when I pass him half my starter, half my main etc 😂 my dad will be there too, will have to pass to him also 😂 I'm a bit worried about feeling too full and sick

@ObsidianTree
I know exactly how you feel. I really don't want to be ill. I guess we've all been so disciplined, for so long, and know our bodies so well now, the thought of doing what we've been avoiding so strictly is a bit scary. There's only the two of us at home on The Day so there's no hiding place and I don't want to ruin things for my OH. At least he's no interest in sweet things so don't need to buy that. At the risk of being a Grinch, I will be glad when it's all over.

ThirdStorm · 26/11/2024 09:16

@Smallsalt Thank you, I've just sent Medexpress a request to price match to Private Pharmacy, that's a credit worth £34.99 if they agree! I have been buying my last pen for the last 3 orders so I may not even need another but good to have the option.

imnottoofussed · 26/11/2024 09:59

I've not price matched for a while as I just couldn't be arsed. Are we still expected to show them the actual part of the order with the price on from the cheaper supplier or are they accepting the monj price table as evidence?

morbidcuriosity · 26/11/2024 10:00

I sent a screen shot last night for a 5mg pen, they credit my account this morning with £25 .

morbidcuriosity · 26/11/2024 10:01

Sorry. Screen shot of mounj.com price list, the one without discounts.

Re Christmas eating - (and excuse the fattest language, but best way to express this)
Fat person thinks “ Oh I must over-eat to be sure everyone else feels comfortable”
Thin person thinks “ I will just have a bit of what I fancy and stop when I am full”

I don’t eat out much, but I was out with a group this summer on MJ & we went to one of those “renowned for it enormous roast dinners” local pubs. Think 2 giant Yorkshire puddings on each plate😱. I ate as per thin person. No one commented. The Yorkies were awful, tasted like burnt lard!

imnottoofussed · 26/11/2024 10:28

@morbidcuriosity excellent I'm going to do that on my next order then thanks

Smallsalt · 26/11/2024 10:37

I just sent them a screen shot of the prices page of The Private Pharmacy as somebody on Facebook said they matched them without making excuses. They doubled the difference.
Still not staying with them though, they gave pissed me off with all the faff, but this was to big a saving to resist!
ME are £209, which £40 dearer than Private Pharmacy. They doubled the difference.

So they added an £80 credit to my account, which came off my 15mg order which took it to £129!

morbidcuriosity · 26/11/2024 10:37

I've just read and seen it cheaper and someone got £50 credit. So I've emailed them back now and asked for that, saying "thanks but I still found it cheaper, so unless you update then I'll be happy to go elsewhere" .
I'll let you know what they say, the cheap one was from private pharmacy I think.

imnottoofussed · 26/11/2024 10:47

This is excellent. I've emailed them and clearly said I want double price match crediting to my account and that I can get the 12.5 for £159.

My mums also a user with cloud so I might get her next pen from med express too

This is an interesting POV.

My problem is a disconnect between brain and stomach. I still want a big plate of food in my mind because I enjoy it. I see food as a pleasure, rather than straight fuel. But I can only fit in relatively small serves - probably half of what I used to have.

I'm being as careful as possible not to overeat beyond being comfortably full because that's what leads to stomach stretching and then weight gain down the track. My partner on the other hand can't stand food waste and so has been eating a lot of my leftovers resulting in a little bit of gaining for him!

Moanranger · 26/11/2024 11:23

@MJqueen I have actually had to re-train my partner on this somewhat. When I met him he was a "clean your plate" kind of guy, to the point that he would be in pain. (He comes from a somewhat deprived childhood where scarcity was the norm). Over the years he has reduced what he eats, so he doesnt do that so much and I think appreciates his food more. ( Tho he still eats masses compared to me, esp now!)

KrankyKumquat · 26/11/2024 11:52

@Moanranger
Yep, very true. A childhood where food was used as a weapon/to prove love/to exert power has certainly done a job on me. Plus I'm very much a pleaser and hate to be a nuisance or call attention to myself. All conspires to make food a danger zone. Was at my brother's recently and SiL had baked a cake specially. I turned it down as I really couldn't eat it, but felt so bad, kept replaying it after - don't think she even noticed.
My OH also hates waste but has now started taking my leftovers to work for lunch. He'll eat anything rather than throw it away, even cold curry and rice.

ThirdStorm · 26/11/2024 12:50

I got my medexpress credit of £34.99. Very happy with that. Not sure if I need any more pens but still nice to have if I do order again.

imnottoofussed · 26/11/2024 13:15

I just got a reply from med express, they need evidence from the actual supplier and won't accept the monj photo I sent. So I've now sent a screenshot of their website showing private clinic website.

They said double price match is for orders after 22nd nov

ThirdStorm · 26/11/2024 13:25

@imnottoofussed Thank you! I've emailed them back asking about the double price match as I ordered on 22 November.
