I find the side by side picture comparison a good reminder on how far I’ve come. I’m trying everything to inspire me not to go back to old ways.

Choux · 17/11/2024 12:58

@Mortigua mysimba is described as 'for overweight people' and my BMI is now 24 so I am not sure how likely it would be for me to obtain it if I wanted it. If you are trying to maintain above 25 BMI then perhaps it's a possibility. I didn't read how it works though.

I am not planning to come off Mounjaro any time soon although my recent purchases have been 10mg even though I am currently on 15mg. I will see what happens when I drop down next month.

One thing I recall is a week long yoga and juice fast I went on about 15 years ago. We fasted for 4 or 5 days drinking just a couple of juices and psyllium husks in water each day (you had to drink it quick before it jellified in the glass) to keep us from getting hungry. We also did two yoga classes a day and a few optional coffee enemas. I felt amazing at the end of it and had lost 7lbs. Intermittent fasting and one meal a day are quite accepted ways of maintaining weight now as is occasional semi fast days. I wonder if a day or two a week of using psyllium to replace a meal and then having a healthy dinner to cut overall calories for the week / get back on track after a meal out etc would help.

Mortigua · 17/11/2024 16:43

Good thinking Thethirdstorm. I will see what I can find picture wise of me .
Choux , mine is still 27.5 I think so I should be able to get it - just don’t know how effective it would be compared to Mounjaro, possibly not as much . I guess I’m not at maintenance point yet though so when I am it might be lower

Moanranger · 17/11/2024 17:24

@Flapearedknave you look great!

Flapearedknave · 17/11/2024 17:36

Evening All
Thought I'd check in as it's been a while and life has been busy. My losses continue to be slow and I've bounced up and down the same kg for a couple of months, finally this morning I'm 0.5kg lighter than I was 5 weeks ago. BMI is under 29 for the first time and I really hope I can keep it that way over the Christmas period (ambitious I know but worth aiming for). I am sooo close to my weight beginning with a 7, I'm feeling really motivated to get there!
I've lost 18kg since the end of February, so averaging just over 1lb per week. A couple of my size 14 trousers are starting to feel loose on me so size 12 doesn't feel too far away, just incredible and all thanks to this wonderful medication.
My favourite place to have lost weight is my face, I now think the rest of the world sees the me I'd always seen in the mirror.
I still haven't managed to exercise consistently so there's definitely work to do, my blood pressure is as bad as it ever was which is disappointing but proves that it was never down to my weight after all.
I really appreciate all your updates and inputs, this would have been such a lonely journey if it wasn't for you all.

KeepingUndercover · 18/11/2024 07:33

Week 36 here (man that feels a long time) and I have hit a 40kg loss in total. I'm not sure how much more I need to lose. Another 10kg would have me at a healthy BMI. That's just crazy.

KeepingUndercover · 18/11/2024 07:36

@Everdecreasingcircumferences well done on breaking the plateau, I'm sure you can get to that elusive 7. I just made it in to the 70s today and it was a great feeling.

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 18/11/2024 11:18

@KeepingUndercover 79.9kg this morning 🎉 🎉🎉

Anyone else freezing this morning? I've lost almost 20kg of blubber and am really feeling the cold!

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 18/11/2024 11:19

@KeepingUndercover that's an incredible amount to have lost! You are an inspiration.

NCfor24 · 18/11/2024 12:53

I've just had my maintenance consultation with Oushk... Hira is lovely, it's nice and easy to move across and she doesn't have any issue with me slowly working back down the doses and staying on it for years if needed.
I'm going to stay on 12.5mg until the new year and hopefully lose another 7lb or so and then start coming off it. BMI is around 24.8 right now and she just needs to see 3 months of order history from current supplier.
And here's a little photo to show progress. Those last few pounds need to come from the tummy/C-section overhang and ribcage.
I can't believe I'm approaching maintenance weight. I still feel exactly the same as before so some mental adjustments needed before I start to believe I am genuinely a slim person. Will get there I hope, and so grateful to have a plan for the coming months to avoid the regain I've had following other diet attempts.

One of my favourite podcasts, Docs Who Lift.
Looking at the results of the first long term (over 3 years) study of MJ use which is about to be published - weight loss, weight loss maintenance, side effects (including the serious ones) and impact on the progression of pre-T2diabetes. Builds on the original Surmount study. Plus impact on osteoarthritis of the knee.

KrankyKumquat · 18/11/2024 13:05

@NCfor24
Great pics! What a difference.
It's such a relief to get the consult over and know you're sorted for the foreseeable isn't it? Just ordered my first maintenance 10mg - £153 and free postage, saving approx £34 which is also nice 👍

KeepingUndercover · 18/11/2024 13:13

You look fantastic @NCfor24!

@Everdecreasingcircumferences congrats! Brilliant news. And thank you, I can't quite get my head round how much I've lost.

Scalessayeek · 18/11/2024 15:40

Well done @NCfor24 you look great!

Reassuring to hear how people are getting on talking to Hira too.

Scalessayeek · 18/11/2024 15:43

Cannot believe it's coming up to nine months now. Focusing on fat percentages rather than weight now. Fit into some non stretchy 14's today and that was always a dream goal that seemed impossible!

Snozzlemaid · 18/11/2024 16:43

Wow @Scalessayeek Those are some very impressive stats.
What a difference. I bet you feel amazing!

ThirdStorm · 18/11/2024 19:22

@Everdecreasingcircumferences Yes, so much colder than I used to be with my blubber! But I don’t want it back. I’ve brought a heated blanket and I’m in love!

@NCfor24 wow! You must be so proud of yourself!

Moanranger · 19/11/2024 12:29

Good day all, on this cold,cold day! Just a quick check in to report that I have lost 5lbs so far in Nov coinciding with move to 7.5. The fastest rate of loss to date.
A podcast called Drs Who Pump ( links on the maintenance thread that I Iimagine many of you re following)- v interesting on 3 year study of MJ. Helpful to planing maintenance

DesparatePragmatist · 19/11/2024 20:05

Hello all, good to see some names on here I recognise from earlier in the year and the Continuing MJ threads. I'm here for the titrating down/maintaining tips.

Started in May, and have gone from 80kg (BMI 32) to 58kg (BMI 23ish), losing more than 1/4 of my body weight. My initial GW was 61 kg to reach BMI 25, but when I got there I realised a) I still had flab, and b) I needed to prioritise fitness & strength training and give myself headroom to gain a bit of muscle weight. So now I'm aiming for the 56-55 zone as a low limit, hitting the gym, and weaning off MJ with a long term maintenance goal of staying under 60 kg forever. That will keep me in the top end of the healthy range and like others, I don't want particularly to go lower. I do like the psychological safety of thinking I'll never breach 60 again.

It's quite a mindfuck to even be considering that I might actively choose a weight to stick at... and succeed at sticking to it!

I peaked at 8.5mg on a 10mg pen - the suppression was too much to go stronger. As soon as I got under BMI 25 I dropped to 5mg/week. My vague plan is to keep on this dose for a few more weeks and then try 2.5. I'm a bit petrified of the food noise coming back and drowning out months of progress and £££... but equally, would like to be less demotivated, cold, constipated and fatigued... (and broke)

I emailed MedExpress for a maintenance plan and they said it's so individual I just need to try titrating down and see what works, so seeing what I can work out. Would love to see more of other people's approaches.

Sorry for the essay! TLDR: I'm around GW, hoping to learn how to maintain on a reducing dose of MJ, looking for tips and experiences!

ThirdStorm · 20/11/2024 14:50

I've been telling myself I'm successfully maintaining but guess what I'm not. In the last two months I've lost 6lb. I think its partly because I'd like to see if I could get just a little bit lower (into the next stone bracket) taking my BMI to 22.6 from 23.2 where I am today. I never thought I'd be battling with myself about what weight to be! A problem I couldn't have dreamed of when I started back in April! I think I've been inadvertently cutting a few calories so I need to make more effort not to eat in a deficit.

KrankyKumquat · 20/11/2024 15:15

@ThirdStorm
Big confession - I'm having the same issue. My goal weights have been 12st (top of healthy BMI), 11st4lb (4st loss), 10st10lb (just to get into the 10s) and now the latest is to get to 10st7lb (thinking it'd be nice to have a BMI in the 21s). Losing weight every day/week is very seductive and it's really hard to adjust self-image enough to be able to say 'OK, I'm now thin, stop it'. I'm actually eating less than I was when I started on MJ as I've got complacent and lazy and far too focused on getting lighter, quicker. I feel fine in myself, at the moment, but am a little concerned about the psychological aspects of all this. Need to give myself a stern talking to as otherwise, I'll get myself in trouble during long term maintenance. Think this is perhaps one of the drawbacks of not telling others about using MJ - it'd be nice to sit with a good friend and talk about all this over a large glass of wine!

ThirdStorm · 20/11/2024 15:17

@KrankyKumquat I'm glad I'm not alone. And I agree weight loss is very seductive. My fancy new work trousers that I treated myself to, in a size 14 no longer fit - hanging off me. Not what I intended. Stern talk here needed too. First step is acknowledging an issue....

KrankyKumquat · 20/11/2024 15:30

@ThirdStorm
I'm sure others will relate too.
Thank you for opening up the conversation as I was feeling a bit ashamed of myself for creating a new problem. I seem to be able to hide my low weight as effectively as I hid my obesity, although OH has remarked on the boniness of my shoulders.
My new clothes are far too big now too and I lose my pyjama bottoms every night in bed.

AgathaMystery · 20/11/2024 16:11

So interesting to read everyone’s plans etc. also the pics are so motivating. I didn’t really take any, I couldn’t bear to. I do have these but not sure they are a good comparison. The first pic is the day I ordered MJ. 2nd one is a few weeks ago. Don’t worry about the frock - It was too short so I didn’t leave the house in it 😂

I too had an appt with Hira today. It was quick & easy, I am going to consider her Conti plan for now as I am still losing. Her attitude was realistic and maybe it helped that I was clearly in a massive pharmacy dispensing room at the time 😂
