I’d like to join, I’m taking Mounjaro.

Started just over 4 weeks ago at 130.7 kgs, currently 123.3 kgs - a long way to go!

Would love to know how to others with similar starting weights have found it.

WeeklyJab · 09/10/2024 10:02

7.4kg in 4 weeks is a cracking start, @Darkfloods ! Good on you!

ShiftAMountain · 09/10/2024 11:06

Twinstudy · 09/10/2024 11:12

I've lost 2 stone 4lbs in 3 months on wegovy. It feels like slow going compared to some but it's going in the right direction and I'm definitely feeling better for it.

Considering switching to mounjaro after Christmas if this plateau continues. Has anyone done this? Do you still start on the starting dose of mounjaro?

PrincessPeache · 09/10/2024 13:17

Checking in - three pounds away from 5 stone loss since 30th June!

Darkfloods · 09/10/2024 13:45

@PrincessPeache that’s amazing! Have you been moving up doses monthly?

PrincessPeache · 09/10/2024 15:35

@PrincessPeache that’s amazing! Have you been moving up doses monthly?

Thank you! I have been. I’ve done five weeks on each dose but following 7.5 I’ve now only gone up to 8 and will be increasing 0.5mg whenever I feel it’s stopped working. Suppression at 8 is unreal and I’m having some gastro side effects so don’t want to go higher until I have to!

SilenceInside · 09/10/2024 16:27

@Darkfloods just wanted to add my stats. I started at the beginning of July at 139kg, I am now somewhere around 113kg hoping to be 112kg when I weigh in on Friday this week. That would put my BMI under 40 for the first time in a long time. I'm currently on 7.5mg and will likely stay on that for a while as I am getting lots of suppression and no side effects at the moment.

Pops1985 · 09/10/2024 16:50

I haven’t checked in since thread one but I’ve hit 5st 2lb lost, it’s been a ride! I started at 131kg and currently 97.5kgs. I’m on 10mg and I have noticed the food noise slightly creep back towards the end of the week, it’s been more of a challenge keeping myself going but would like to lose another 10kgs. Happy for it to be slower as this has been since April and feels very quick. It is possible everyone, just keep going!

WeAllHaveWings · 09/10/2024 16:57

Checking in - thanks for the new thread!

SilverSprings510 · 09/10/2024 20:04

Now going into week 8, will be doing extra dose of 5mg this week before deciding whether to move up or stay on 5.

Total loss: 28lb/2st/12.7kg ✨

OrlandointheWilderness · 09/10/2024 21:32

Do you mind me jumping in? I'm 132kg, 5'9. I'm so bloody big and I'm desperate. I've been thinking about mounjaro- how much difference does it make to you as opposed to just dieting alone?

Evenstar · 09/10/2024 21:39

Please may I join, I am currently 113kg, taking my first dose on Saturday and so encouraged by the results I have seen here. It wasn’t until I got DH to take my photo for approval that I realised quite how large my lower body is. I have believed for some years that I have some lipoedma, but never sought a diagnosis, I usually dress to cover the “shelf” at the top of my bottom so it was a shock to see it properly 😔

It's been life changing for me. If you can afford it and meet the requirements to get it prescribed legitimately, go for it.
I've lost 3.5 stone since the beginning of June.
It's completely changed my relationship with food with none of the difficulties I usually have with dieting.

OrlandointheWilderness · 09/10/2024 21:50

Thanks @Snozzlemaid. May I ask how much you are spending on it? It would require some sacrifices but at this point I would do pretty much anything. I've been turned down for surgery on the NHS as ironically I'm as healthy as a horse even though I'm as fat as a house and I just cannot find the strength to do it alone.

Snozzlemaid · 09/10/2024 21:57

Lower dose pens were a bit under £140 each. Now I'm on 7.5 that's about £170ish a pen.
But prices do vary so I would recommend the following website that gives up to date prices. https://monj.co.uk

You can get a fifth dose out of each pen, so it feels like you get a free week.
Have a look at the Continuing Mounjaro threads for lots of help and information on the first post.

A huge difference in my short experience so far. I don’t feel like I’m battling with myself to eat less/well it’s just happening and feels natural.
I order from MedExpress and paid £110 for my first pen with a discount code. As @Snozzlemaid said look for deals has prices can vary.

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 10/10/2024 10:01

Welcome all!

@lorri123122ffff welcome, and I hope that you find this lovely community supportive. There’s a dedicated thread on this board for discount codes.

Congratulations @PrincessPeache and @Pops1985 on those massive 5 stone losses.

How are you feeling in these newly shaped bodies of yours? There must be quite a difference after 5 stone?

I've lost 2 stone & feel fantastic for it, but I have 5 more stone to lose to hit "heatlhy" BMI - which is unfathomable really.

One thing to consider is the money you may save.

For example, I know I am going to the shop less for snacks and, honestly, that could easy have been £20 a week in the old days. So, there's £80+ a month I am not spending now.

But, more than that, one unexpected side effect I have observed is that it has also curbed my compulsion to impulse buy a ton of daft little things. I used to do that quite a lot, believing I 'needed' it all. That's just stopped as well.

I honestly think this jab feels expensive because it's a single big outlay, but in reality is probably cost neutral for me (or very close to it).
