@Xiaoxiong

Well done

Funny enough I was really struggling to loose the last bit. In the end I had two short holidays where I didn't calories count and was prob averaging 2000 calls a day for 3/4 days on each holiday and it really helped. Once I got back on the weight starting coming off again. Maybe try a few higher cal days as a jolt.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 07/11/2024 22:02

Well I'm struggling a bit. I'm not over indulging massively but having restricted easily on MJ I'm finding the cravings sneaking back. I went out for lunch today and had a cheese sandwich. I haven't had much cheese on MJ. I also had a latte...and a glass of wine tonight. All stuff I wouldn't do on MJ. Yesterday wasn't horrendous but Tuesday I had about 5 chocolate digestives...again not something I'd do on MJ so I'm pretty annoyed. Weigh in on Monday.

Bamboozled5 · 08/11/2024 08:46

I am stuck at around 80kg, BMI 26. I don't want to increase MJ as the side effects are too much for me, but decided today to combine it with 5:2 which ought to be much easier to stick to. Just need to try and get the last stone off.

MyPearlMentor · 09/11/2024 11:16

@Wishthiswasntmypost if it’s any consolation feel like I am starting to make less good choices even when I am still on MJ. Cheese is one of my big loves, as is bread and like you I have had hardly any of it since July. I do feel that food should be enjoyable, so I don’t think the odd thing that like that should hurt too much if it is a treat. I think my problem is that I was having too many treats before… I still have 3kg to lose & this last bit will be slow & hard for sure.

MyPearlMentor · 09/11/2024 11:17

@ToriMJ how are you doing back on it? X

I think denial of certain foods can be a real issue, even more so when people come off MJ. I've tried (and so far succeeded) to stick to an 'everything in moderation' approach which works better for me than denying myself certain foods. So throughout my time on MJ I've had a fried (in olive oil) egg on toast (with butter) for breakfast and a (skinny) flat white almost every day. Occasionally in the evenings if I've felt really hungry, I've made myself a (Lancashire) cheese toastie. I just keep portions small, eat slowly and stop eating as soon as I feel full. And so far I've lost 19kg.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 09/11/2024 20:40

A cheese toasties!!!! This seems utterly decadent. 😆
I'm fighting the nightly nibbles and today avoided cake with a coffee out. Definite change in diet habits but not as clean as intended. Life's been quite fraught which hasn't helped

Good thanks. Have completed 2 weeks and lost 8lb. No side effects beyond a bit of burping!

I've been off MJ for about 3-4 weeks now and only had a 0.4lb gain. I'm still having to really watch my calories which is soooo much more difficult without it!

To be fair to myself though, I have had a bit of a mental health set back and have been put back on antidepressants this week. This worries me as the doc says they slow your metabolism so could gain weight.... great!

I've already decided to get another 2.5mg pen in the next week or so to see me through the Xmas period. I'm known in my family for being a serious Xmas gainer (managed a very decent 10lb in 2 weeks last time 🙈), so I feel I need the support to get through it... especially with the new tablets.

I'm wondering if having a big break will mean I'll get horrible side effects again 🤷‍♀️ I'm prepared to put up with them if it stops me stuffing my face till I'm sick. 🤣

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 15/11/2024 08:08

Ace. I got one for after xmas too.

So far I'm stuck at same weight. 1800 approx and a fast day seems to be a good way of me maintaining.

I'm definitely much more mindful of my food now. Eat a lot more fruit and nuts to fill gaps rather than a biscuit or crisps

I wish I had 1800 cals. When I first started MJ I physically couldn't eat so was only managing around 900-1000 cals a day. Now I'm trying to maintain, I'm gradually increasing as if I go too high too quickly I'll put the weight on as my body isn't used to it. I've worked my way up to around 1050-1150 a day so far after 3 weeks, which is still way too low, but I've only had a 0.4lb gain since. I'll gradually increase by 50 cals every couple of weeks until my body is used to it

I think the losing (and even the side effects) were the easy part. Maintaining and going solo without the MJ is really hard 🤦‍♀️

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 16/11/2024 08:28

@ACEwards that sounds tough going.

Is is hard trying to get stable

Yesterday I had a work xmas meal so during the day only had 300 cals

Think I got to just above 1800 with the meal but only two drinks.

It's things Like alcohol that add up quick.

But 1100 cals is very low What type of food are you eating ?

ACEwards · 16/11/2024 09:01

@HeBeaverandSheBeaver It is really hard, as like you say my cals are so low. I must admit I don't have as much protein as I should as I just don't fancy protein... I'm a carb girl through and through!

I tend to skip breakfast (always have), and just have lunch and dinner. Lunch is normally a meal deal from Tesco trying to make the best choices I can, the dinner is usually some sort of meat and two veg. Fruit and babybels as snacks.

I absolutely hate cooking with a passion, and am pretty time poor. I have three kids, one is autistic, one needs dropping at college and work constantly, and the other does dance/gym every night - so I am basically an Uber driver/maid alongside my full time job 🤣. This means I don't get any time to exercise or prep meals and just live day by day lol 🤣

I gave up booze when I started MJ so luckily wine isn't a feature anymore, plus realised it leads me to binging on food!

Well done for being so disciplined on your night out. Hope you had a good night?

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 16/11/2024 09:12

@ACEwards
That's hard with the kids

Supermarket sandwich can be pretty high in cals tho. Maybe try sushi if you like it or hummus with pitta
Soup is brilliant too but I understand hard to keep warm or buy out.

I'm a bread girl too tho so I get it!!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 16/11/2024 19:14

Not contributed in a while but I'm still going on 5mg.

I had about 4 weeks off due to holidays etc but so far I'm at 22lb loss.

MJ makes me incredibly nauseous so every week I contemplate stopping but I'm just taking it slow and steady!

Wishthiswasntmypost · 16/11/2024 21:23

Today I had porridge with chia, flax, real honey and blueberries. Lunch was some hummus and crackers. Tonight was lots of veg and a couple of sausages (not great I know) and some stewed plums. Still drinking lots more water than previously.

This week I had 2 terrible days and ate biscuits (lots). It made me realise how binge-y I am around food. Work and family stress tips me into eat mode

Weight still much the same. I'm hovering at same weight or 1kg over on different days. I've decided I want to lose a bit more but am pretty sure I won't be prescribed MJ again as I'm not heavy enough

MyPearlMentor · 17/11/2024 09:30

@ACEwards I just wanted to say how well you have done to get so far… sounds like you have a lot of life going on! I’ve been doing some training for a volunteering role, and last week there was a lot of conversation around how hard we are on ourselves vs how we would treat our friends. The trainer said “When things are tough, treat yourself with the kindness that you would show to a dear friend” - this really connected with me. So if you wouldn’t beat your bestie up for having a meal deal under these circumstances then don’t do it to yourself. Good luck with the antiDs, hope they pick you up a bit. ((Hug))

Mini victory on the scales today - have had Fitbit smart scales since 2017 and today I logged the lowest weight on them I've EVER had! (And that was when having had a massive effort to lose weight post first baby and got pregnant again and had the most horrendous morning sickness and was struggling to eat at all!)

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 18/11/2024 15:38

Brilliant @Jfw82

ACEwards · 22/11/2024 13:46

I've ordered my 2.5 Xmas pen and did my first dose this morning since having a break for 4 weeks.

Before I stopped the effects were starting to wear off and suppression wasn't great. I'm hoping that having a break will reset my body and I'll get suppression on this dose again 🤞

DamnItBetsy · 22/11/2024 19:23

I’m so close to being finished 😊

SW 174lbs / 12st 6
CW 147.8lbs / 10st 7.4
total loss 26.2lbs

Current BMI 24

I had set my original goal weight at 152lbs / 10st12, never really believing I’d get there. Im not sure what I’m aiming at now. Maybe another few pounds. Not less than 10 stone I think, but it’s such unknown territory for me I don’t really know!

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 22/11/2024 22:01

@ACEwards
Exactly my plan post Xmas
@DamnItBetsy
Amazing well done!!!

Bamboozled5 · 23/11/2024 08:42

I'm close to being finished too - 21kg lost (46lb)!! I'm gradually lowering the MJ and weaning off while still trying to lose a final half stone which would put me at BMI23. This last bit is very slow loss.

Hoping to retain the weight loss as I am so much more aware of how much and what to eat. Enjoying not taking much MJ as it really made me feel crap at times. Well done all! 😊
