Welcome back @ToriMJ - we missed you! I have to say it’s felt like a looooong time to me that I have been on this diet! I am 1kg off healthy BMI & 4kg from my goal weight. I have settled on 7.5mg and don’t intend to go higher as this seems to work for me. Planning to do this until end Nov & then gradually reduce the dose.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 30/10/2024 09:49

Welcome back tori

I'm just not in the right place now. I've stayed the same but just can't shift that last 1lb My body obvs wants it for what ever reason.

Thinking I might go to intermittent fasting twice a week now rather than restricting everyday. Mix it up a bit. Plus I don't want my body to get used to restricting cals everyday and I end up changing my set point there.

Just need to decide if I'm still going to order a new pen!!

Bamboozled5 · 30/10/2024 10:38

Good luck @ToriMJ. It does feel like this has been going on a loooong time! I'm a bit static at the moment but have lost 18kg (2st 12) so am definitely pleased. Would like to lose another stone but it seems a bit of a struggle now. Have so far stuck to 5mg but my new pen is a 7.5mg, so will gradually move up. Have struggled with side effects so have to take all increases v slowly. Well done all on your losses!

slummymummy35 · 30/10/2024 12:32

Hi @ToriMJ lovely to hear from you! I'm still plugging away, just started my 4th pen (my 3rd 5mg pen) and still losing a bit each week. 25lbs down which I'm so pleased with. Still want to lose another stone but it's going well.
Think I will move up to 7.5 for my next pen as I'm definitely hearing the food noise again on this latest dose. Good luck, just take it easy! I stopped daily weighing ages ago as I just felt I was getting obsessed with it. Now I just weigh every week.

Andywarholswig · 30/10/2024 20:33

Welcome back @ToriMJ so happy to see you. I’m down 19kg with about 10kg to go, have done 2x 2.5mg and am half way through my 2nd 5mg. I will probably do another 5mg as I am finding it very manageable (life changing really)

Wishthiswasntmypost · 31/10/2024 19:32

Hi @ToriMJ I'm off MJ as I'd had enough and felt happy at the weight I reached. I was still about 8kg above BMI recommendation but honesty felt healthy.

I lost 17kg over 3 months.

I put on 1.5kg in first week after stopping but was on holiday celebrating a family birthday so I wasn't surprised. Weighed this morning and have lost all and another 9.9kg, but I totolly doubt the scales!

ToriMJ · 31/10/2024 20:09

Ah I wish I'd stuck at it now but shoulda woulda coulda. Hopefully I'll have similar success to you all. I've got two pens in the fridge so that will get me to Xmas.
Any tips to pass on having done the long haul?

Wishthiswasntmypost · 01/11/2024 07:29

Ha have just reread my post which say I'd lost 9.9kg since holiday a fortnight ago.... er 1.9.

Weighed today and scale same so looking more likely to be somewhere near the truth. This is a boost because I'd felt a bit like the doomsayers were right about it all going back on quickly. It's early days but I'm motivated again.

@ToriMJ Drink at least 3L a day. Remember there is a cycle to the week both in terms of suppression and side effects and work with that knowledge. For me it meant knowing Mon-Wed was a wipe out but also low intake. I don't think the two were related. I think MJ dropped my BP to silly levels making me tired and weak (monitor would say 95/50) and constipation was a big risk. So fluid fluid fluid..... then chill over eating more later in the week.

I also wish I'd stayed on 2.5mg as side effects were minimal and 5mg was not nice.

Wishthiswasntmypost · 01/11/2024 07:32

Before anyone comments on BP...I've always had low BP so that reading isn't a first but was sustained which led to feeling weak and awful. So I'm not sure I'd go back to 5mg again or certainly have a halfway dose as I did tolerate it better after a month.

ToriMJ · 01/11/2024 09:03

I'm going to stay on 2.5 for as long as it feels effective. The official programme is bang straight up 2.5, 5, 7.5 to 10 month by month but that feels quite brave to me! If I was doing my Voy subscription just how they send it rather than having looked at mumsnet that's what would be happening I think.

Woo hoo! I’m finally at a healthy BMI which was my first target weight…

SW: 85kg
GW: 68kg
TODAY: 67.5kg (I am 5 feet 5 so this is just squeaking into healthy BMI and a size 14)

Planning to try & get to 64kg as a bit of “insurance” and hoping to do that by the time I go on holiday on 11 Dec. I still have a bit of tummy I’d like to lose, although I guess this is age (50).

I have lost 10cm off my waist, 12cm off my hips. The only stubborn refusal to budge is my boobs, I still a 34F :-(

I started on 18 July so this is 17 weeks, so pretty much 1kg per week. I did 2.5mg x month 1, 5mg x month 2 & then 7.5mg for months 3 & 4. I have one more dose in this pen, will then do month 5 at 7.5mg before reducing down.

I’m so pleased that I have finally done this, I have tried to lose weight for the last 10 years & never made it this far before! Thanks to everyone for all the support on the way…

Jfw82 · 01/11/2024 14:56

I would definitely agree with the 3l of water - I've found that level (or more!) has worked well to (mostly) keep constipation away but also has helped my skin etc as well which has been great

I've done 2 x 2.5 pen, 1 x 5 and took last of my first 7.5 this week but have decided to stay on that for another 4 weeks partly as I've a couple of big events (one personal and one work) and don't want unexpected side effects to impact. I may go up to 10 after that I think 🤔. I'm 3lbs off 3 stone down but am in for the long haul as that still leaves another 3 to go!

MzHz · 01/11/2024 17:48

Tbh @ToriMJ ive followed the programme (juniper) and have gone up to 10 mg (on second pen) and the reason I’ve done this is because until you get to 7.5 and above it’s not deemed to be the therapeutic dose. The lower doses are to prepare you.

I don’t have any side effects these days, as long as I keep drinking water, food noise is nil, but I do get hungry sometimes. The sickness etc has all gone

i would recommend trusting the process tbh.

iirc, you ordered the pen before I did, you started this thread and were too nervous to do the first injection so we had to give you a loving mumsnet boot up the bum 🤣

@ToriMJ , don’t worry, you got this. You’re ready to meet your new version of yourself . we’re all here on the road with you.

ToriMJ · 01/11/2024 22:00

Thanks that's much appreciated.
First time round I'd got so anxious about it that I think I gave myself symptoms and was just compulsively monitoring everything I ate etc. I'm now in a better head space and so my first week Ive literally just eaten normal things but protein heavy and feel really well.
Feel like I'm starting off on a better foot.

How have you found going up to 10mg, did the symptoms go up with it or did you find you just adjusted?

Marmalade100 · 02/11/2024 10:36

hi everyone - we are all doing so well ! I am on 3 stone lost and 2 pounds of top of healthy BMI - 1 stone 2 so 10 stone, is my final target. Just in case it helps anyone, I am with Zava and at 11 stone 5 ordered a pen with 2 weeks to go on the one I'm on. I didn't honestly think I'd get approved with 11 stone being at healthy, but they have approved and are sending it out. I won't be approved for another I know that, but anyone who is not going on a maintenance plan then there is still hope to help get you there. Weight is coming off more slowly now so I'm hoping the last 16 pounds will come off in the 6 weeks worth of pens i have left and then see how I go on my own !

MzHz · 02/11/2024 11:05

@ToriMJ “How have you found going up to 10mg, did the symptoms go up with it or did you find you just adjusted?”

personally I found the 5mg almost didn’t work, I may have felt a bit dodgy the day after the jab - bit nauseous and tired, but that passed by the next day.

7.5 first jab probably the same, but 10mg was hardly anything of note apart from massive noise suppression - like I never felt like eating anything

that has eased off and I just feel normal, but no nagging “wotcha gonna eat” voice in my head.

i muddled up the days today and took my jab a day early 🤦🏽‍♀️

the beginning is tougher than when you’ve gone up through the pens I think.

keep drinking water as much as you can. Be mindful of electrolytes I think too as you exercise. Even my digestion is better than it was. I was really gassy - perhaps that’s carbs - that’s eased a bit, and 💩 is way more regular than it was at the beginning

Therunecaster · 02/11/2024 11:14

Morning,

4 stone off now. Started at 17:9 on the 9th of July now 13:9. I want to be in the 12s for Christmas! Goal is 10:7 but I'm having a tummy tuck at 11:7.

MyPearlMentor · 02/11/2024 17:52

@Therunecaster that’s AMAZING! Well done - I bet you feel fab! And you too @Marmalade100, great to see another brilliant result. It really does work xxx

DamnItBetsy · 02/11/2024 20:52

Great to read about everyone’s successes, and I’m glad you’ve found your way back Tori.

I’ve lost just over 10% of my body weight since mid July, which is 22.4lbs, and it’s taken me just into a healthy BMI. I originally thought I’d be happy at that but I think I’ll aim for another half stone. Seeing my weight starting with ‘10 stone’ was such a good feeling!

The weight hasn’t come off particularly quickly for me, but I think that’s probably for the best. The less weight you have to lose, the slower it comes off so I’m expecting the last half stone to take me until Christmas. I love the idea of being at my final goal weight by the end of the year though. 😊

MyPearlMentor · 05/11/2024 19:59

Congrats @DamnItBetsy - great result.

Random question to everyone, have you noticed your hair growing really fast?! I have long hair but it seems to be accelerating by the minute… not sure if it is the MJ or that I am eating a more protein rich diet & taking vitamins.

TheBiscuitStrikesBack · 05/11/2024 20:25

I wish mine was growing fast! I’m very nervous over the amount that’s falling out…

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 06/11/2024 08:25

My hair seems fine but my nails are not good and that's the same stuff

Ordered a new pen but won't open till post xmas. Going to try maintain till then as it's getting difficult now. Social events etc. Will try stick to 1800 cals a day till then 😳🙏

Edited

I suspect the increase in protein and vitamins is much more likely to be responsible rather than MJ.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 07/11/2024 16:30

WHOOP whoop

Today for the first time my scales were on 64 kg dead.

Now I'm going to try maintain till post xmas on 1800 cals a day.

No jab

I've ordered a pen for after Xmas in case I need a boost.

I can't believe it's taken only from mid July to now to loose over 10kgs. And been pretty easy in comparison to the previous attempts before this magic was available.

Xiaoxiong · 07/11/2024 16:44

Well done all! I'm still bobbling around 71kg for the 3rd week in a row. I've been sick this week with a nasty cold and cough, and not sleeping well. I've noticed a definite link that when I don't sleep well, good habits are a lot harder to stick with - even on MJ! Hopefully I get well soon and get back on track.

I was talking to a woman at a conference and weight loss jabs came up (it was a conference about health care technology so this was relevant). I nearly blurted out that I was on them and had lost 14kg but this woman launched into - "oh, don't you know they have horrendous side effects, you lose lean muscle mass not fat, you put all the weight back on once you're off them, who would inject themselves, it's dangerous for thin teenagers who are just wanting a quick fix etc."

So I buttoned my lip!! The sad thing is that this lady was not a slim teenager looking for a quick fix - she was probably a size 28 and in her 50s and when we walked through the conference even walking slowly she was out of breath while also speaking to me. So weight loss I'm sure is not the easiest thing for her and MJ could really help, but her mindset was so fixed that I knew there was no point in discussing it.
