How's everyone doing.

Had a week away last week a no injection. Ate loads in pubs every night but I weighed a few days ago and only gained a pound so that was great. Injected again Monday and this week going ok.

Not sure if I should get another pen now though. Trouble is if I stop ordering then will my provider refuse me a pen should I need to go back now I'm at target weight.

I really don't want to put it all back on.

Hope your journeys all going to plan.

ACEwards · 27/10/2024 08:39

I finished my last pen over a week ago, so been a week "cold turkey"! To be honest I was only ever on 2.5 and it wasn't really having the same effect anymore so I haven't noticed too much difference.

I'm definitely hungrier, but I'm still having days where I struggle to finish a meal, so hopefully it's down to my stomach shrinking and me realising I don't need to eat until I'm stuffed.

Having said that, MJ does stay in your system for around 4 weeks so I'll see how it's going after then.

Luckily I'm with Chequp who allow you to pause your subscription, so if i struggle I can restart without any issues

Really annoyed to find the scales up half a kilo this morning. It's probably hormonal/time of the month but still - grrr!!

And that being said, I have to learn not to have these emotional reactions to the scales. One of my long term plans to keep this weight off is to weigh myself regularly - maybe not every day but certainly multiple times a week - so I can't bury my head in the sand and ensure I take action early. And why did I avoid the scales...to avoid the negative emotion if the scales were up half a kilo, so I avoided the scales until was up 25kg and here i am today.

No more emotional reactions to the scales! Just a call to action!

On the other hand, I've also just donated 2 bin bags of clothes that are now all too big and baggy. Hurrah!!! I will never go back to that size so no point holding onto them just in case...as the case will not arise.

Xiaoxiong · 27/10/2024 18:05

My last post seemed pretty negative so to balance it out I want to also appreciate how MJ makes me feel more able to choose healthy, fibre rich, nutrient dense foods and not feel hard done by. Today I have had:

Brunch: bowl of yoghurt, chia seeds, inulin probiotic, handful of high protein granola, walnuts and a pear

Early dinner (clock change meant I was hungry at 5.30pm!): carrot and bread salad, smoked mackerel

Because I wasn't frantic with hunger by the time I came to make food, I was able to take my time, choose healthier stuff, eat more slowly (the carrots did take some chewing!) and not feel hungry at the end of a sensible portion!

@Xiaoxiong I am with you! I have 1kg to healthy BMI & I cannot shift it. Was making less good choices last week when I travelled for work, although only in small amounts) & was out to dinner last night & everything was swimming in butter or had Parmesan on it! Just made a big batch of soup so I have healthy choice for lunch this week & am going to double down on my efforts, I really want to lose my last 3-4kgs by end of November. Your dinner looks healthy & delicious too :-)

Wishthiswasntmypost · 27/10/2024 20:26

I've had 3 weeks of family birthday and holiday eating...no cooking and preparing so that's been (great!) bit tricky. 1kg put on 🫤 but unsurprising really. Back to it now

gimmemounjaro · 27/10/2024 22:28

Lovely plate @Xiaoxiong
I mean a tasty looking meal but I really like the plate itself too Smile

Xiaoxiong · 28/10/2024 11:35

@gimmemounjaro ah thanks I like the plate too!! It's old and I only have 3 left (which is annoying for a family of 4...) Helpfully it's about half the size of the other dinner plates we have, which helps a lot with portion sizes.

Sounds like lots of us are redoubling our efforts and trusting the process this week - get those nutrient dense meals planned for the week, fill up your waterbottles, we can do this!!

HundredMilesAnHour · 28/10/2024 11:47

Yesterday my BMI finally crept below 30. Hurray! I am no longer obese. 😍

I've lost 17kg now but I'm still wearing the loose dresses etc that I wore before (thank goodness for loose/oversized being in fashion) so it's not really noticeable to most people. But yesterday I tried on a size 14 coat that I'd forgotten about and it actually fitted! I've gone from stressing about having nothing to wear for autumn because I'm so fat to being excited about some of my old wardrobe suddenly opening up to me!

I injected (10mg) last night and was a day later than usual (so 8 days since my previous jab) and I really noticed the difference. The food noise was back with a vengeance this weekend. OMG! Yesterday daytime I couldn't stop thinking about food!! (and ate half a baked Camembert, a small bar of chocolate and some Haagen-Dazs plus had a glass of red wine!). Today the jab has kicked in and I'm not bothered about food, thank bloody God! Yesterday was quite an eye-opener.

MyPearlMentor · 28/10/2024 16:08

@HundredMilesAnHour well done on the big milestone! I am also rediscovering my size 14 wardrobe and I share your joy 😀

MyPearlMentor · 28/10/2024 16:14

For anyone interested in maintenance, I had my first online meeting with the Oushk pharmacist today (I swapped a month ago from Chequp as Oushk publish a v comprehensive maintenance plan option). I asked for advice about dose as I am now almost at healthy weight. She advised to continue in the same dose (7.5mg) until I have reached the weight I am happy with… I asked specifically if they were ok to prescribe once in healthy BMI and she said “yes, within reason”. She was super nice and said that everyone is different but if I wanted to then lower to 5 and then 2.5 they’d support that… also if I just wanted to stop & then restart if needed that was also ok. She was a really nice woman, I would recommend (no magic/discount code to share just wanted to share my experience as I know some others are at this stage too). A meeting costs £5 for a 15 min session.

Andywarholswig · 28/10/2024 21:50

Thanks for the information on the maintenance plan @MyPearlMentor i still have a way to go, but I might make the switch to a provider with a maintenance plan. Have been with ZAVA the whole time, am still going in my second 5mg pen. I’ve done 2 x 2.5 and 2 x 5mg.

I’m still finding the suppression good with 5mg:

SW:112kg
CW: 93kg
GW: 85kg

Apart from constipation which I can’t shift no matter how much water and fibre I take without laxatives I haven’t had any side effects. I have just been eating what my family eats, just less.

Not having food on the brain 24/7 has changed my life and my mood and energy has been amazing. I work out 3 times a week still and do lots of dog walking, the only difference is I am not constantly thinking about food. I am dreading coming off as it has worked so well and not thinking about food has been so freeing.

Jfw82 · 29/10/2024 06:03

Hit my next mini goal this morning as the scales started with 13!

SW 16st8
CW 13st13
GW 10st6 (BMI 23.5)

A range of mini targets on the way to GW but now hoping to get into the 12s to start the new year !

ChaChaChooey · 29/10/2024 11:11

I’ve had a couple of weeks off as my appetite suppression had become so total that I was feeling pretty feeble, plus both me and my DD have a birthday in the same week and I wanted a slice of cake and some fizzy wine.

Ate restrained portions and weight stayed exactly the same (10st 4). Injected again yesterday (5mg) as I’d like to lose another half stone for maintenance wiggle room. Planning on taking MJ through Xmas and then weaning off in Jan.

Definitely have more energy after a couple of weeks without injecting!

Choux · 29/10/2024 11:29

@ChaChaChooey be careful. You are not supposed to just stop and then pick up where you left off dose wise. I think most suppliers would have advised you to start again on 2.5mg after a 2 week break as the drug gets out of your system which increases the risk of you having unpleasant side effects.

In the future if you find the suppression is too much and want a break again maybe drop down to 2.5mg for a while. You may even find that is your best long term dose to let you have some suppression and lose weight but still be able to socialise and eat enough to have energy to enjoy life.

ChaChaChooey · 29/10/2024 11:54

Thanks for the advice - I’ve never had any side effects really tho, except for the one time I over indulged really early on (like week 2 of 2.5mg).

Some people are reporting being prescribed 5 mg on alternate months for maintenance (so a month of 5 and a month of nothing) so I’m not personally worried about about skipping two weeks and going straight back to 5mg.

ToriMJ · 29/10/2024 17:17

Hi all :)
My summer break turned into a very long break as I wasn't in the right head space.

I started again on Saturday so hoping to plough through to Xmas now.

I would absolutely LOVE updates on how you have all progressed, please @ me so I can spot them.

First full week without MJ and I stayed the same thank god! I have had an intermittent upset stomach the past few days though with some horrible tapped wind, bloating, indigestion and cramps... so I've felt huge and had put in a couple of lbs as of a few days ago, but today I'm back to where I was 👍

MzHz · 29/10/2024 18:12

@ToriMJ good to have you back! Hope you’re good now?

I’ve managed to get my water intake to a regular near as dammit 3l a day and it’s really helped with everything- side effects, constipation and even a relatively steady loss.

A mere 400g off my 3rd milestone and 17kg.

Xiaoxiong · 29/10/2024 18:15

@ToriMJ welcome back!!

I'm down 11.65kg, 14% of my body weight - started at BMI of 30 (with high cholesterol as well) and currently BMI of 25.4. I've gone from obese to overweight and I've got another 10kg to go to get to the middle of the healthy weight BMI band.

I've done 2x 2.5mg pens, and now on my second 5mg pen. I'm undecided whether to increase next month - I thought I wasn't getting much suppression on my first 5mg pen but it's ramped up since I started my second 5mg pen so maybe I'll stick with 5mg for another month. No real side effects to speak of!

I've lost around 0.8kg a week on average but the chart is most definitely not a steady line down!! Lots of ups and downs and if you look it's basically an uptick once every 4 weeks or so, which MUST be hormonal.

Welcome back @ToriMJ and hope all is well now.

I am still plugging away, have lost 31lbs in nearly 4 months, or if we pretend 2.5mg never happened (as I much prefer to do) -27lbs in nearly three months 😅

One more 7.5mg injection tomorrow and then I'm going to try 10mg. I am losing about half a stone every 4 weeks at the moment, which is fine.

You’ll soon be back on the wagon @ToriMJ !

ToriMJ · 29/10/2024 21:35

Thanks. It went so well the first month but I was struggling with anxiety and it exacerbated it I think being so focused on it, so this time I'm
Just trying to relax and not track calories and obsess over it, just let it naturally cut things down, drink my water and chill. 🤞🏽

My DH is also doing it and he's super laid back so that's helping.
