Mounjaro July 2024

1000 replies

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

I'm going to wait and start on 1st July I think, fresh month, fresh start

Lulooo · 27/06/2024 17:15

I’m on my third week of 2.5ml and for me, I can still eat as much on it as I could before but the difference is, I don’t feel a constant urge to eat. So if I delay my meals until later in the day, I’m okay. Whereas before, I woke up eager for breakfast and then when I’d finish, I’d look forward the next meal time soon. Now I usually have a cup of tea in the morning and then I’m fine until later afternoon.

I’ve also been able to do away with snacking inbetween meals.

TurningPointe · 27/06/2024 17:51

I started on Tuesday 😀

I felt a bit rough yesterday, but absolutely fine today.

I have very little appetite... and am wowed and amazed by that and just so grateful for this opportunity to lose weight and learn better habits.

I am trying to vaguely combine with Zoe. Not sure how long that will last but I ended up on a subscription with them that won't finish for a few months. I can log my food with them any way and see 🤷🏻‍♀️ At the very least I can check my intake and protein levels.

Lumirubin · 27/06/2024 19:07

Snacking in-between meals was a big problem for me, I've not eaten outside of a meal time since Monday, not even really thought about it! I know it's only Thursday but that's a huge change for me. Im taking this week to settle in, then im going to start calorie counting next week because I don't want to slip into thinking my overall calories are low because I'm eating less, but actually having high calorie things.

Funny I was going to ask whether people calorie count! I have been for a few weeks so I assume I will continue, I want to track protein intake anyway!

BamberGirl · 28/06/2024 01:09

Mines arrived!!!

I’ve hidden it in the back of the fridge…am out tonight and away for the weekend sat so need to decide to it before or after?
thise who have done 2.5 already…how did you feel?

I also tested my blood sugar this am…5.9 which is pre diabetic so another good motivator to get that down!

glad to hear your background hunger has gone@Lumirubin …that’s what I’m hoping for

Italiangreyhound · 28/06/2024 01:14

I'm interested to hear how it effects people. I'm starting it for my diabetes.I will look forward to any tips to deal with emotional eating too!

greenmillions · 28/06/2024 07:01

I took my first dose on Wednesday afternoon and I've had no nasty side effects at all. I woke up on Wednesday night and felt a bit sick but not enough to keep me awake. I've been a bit achey and felt tired but I'm always a bit tired.

My sleep has been a bit unsettled, but again, it's been hot so it could just be that! I've been examining every feeling!

There has definitely been something going on with my appetite. I'm really hoping it's not a placebo effect! I didn't eat until lunch and then didn't even consider having food until dinner time. I gave myself a smaller portion, and whilst I finished it, I did feel full after.

I was still thinking about food during the day, but I just didn't have anything. I didn't want it that much. I think I was thinking of it more to see if I wanted it! I also didn't fancy anything from Lidl bakery or the kids leftover pizza which I'm counting as a win!

Fingers crossed that this continues!

diian · 28/06/2024 07:01

No side affects here, just lack of appetite. Lots of big birthdays at work so a staff room full of cakes, chocolates, nibbles and ice creams offered on Tuesday. Took no resistance, because i just did not fancy food. Really weird feeling because you don’t feel full, just no appetite or cravings. It is amazing!

Another 1.5lb down for me, so 6.5 lbs lost in 9 days.

diian · 28/06/2024 07:02

I feel full of energy too, not sluggish. I am not out of breath either on walks.

Lumirubin · 28/06/2024 07:46

I asked DH to grab dinner last night on his way home, he asked if pizza and salad was ok and I agreed. He went to Costco and got deep pan hugely cheesy pizza and a pasta salad. I ate a decent amount of the pizza but couldn't bring myself to eat any of the pasta. God did I pay for it last night! I felt SO sluggish and headachey in the evening, then woke up in the night with acid reflux feeling nauseous. I'm guessing because it's the first really "bad" thing I've eaten while I've been on it. I'm still feeling sluggish this morning but not poorly. I'll only be eating super healthy today because I don't want to replicate that feeling.

Also, I was chatting to DH about this last night. I don't know if I'm a little sad or just totally mystified that this is what a skinny person's brain is like. There are people out there who don't think about food 24/7! It's SUCH a change mentally for me just on week one I can't quiet believe the difference. It makes me sad that the people out there who think overweight people "bring it on themselves" and "just need to eat less" have no idea how different our brains feel about food. I wish they could take a jab that turns their food chat on so they could see haha

Hope you feel better today Lumi!

NewLifter · 28/06/2024 08:13

Great loss Diian! Also reassuring to hear you're full of energy, fatigue is my biggest concern to be honest!

NewoIkkin · 28/06/2024 08:37

First jab done! Had to get my husband to do it as I was too shaky. I’ve been eating low cal and low carb since Monday so I’ve already had my big water weight drop of 5lbs, so not expecting much this first week. Good luck everyone.

cappycap · 28/06/2024 09:44

My first pen is due to be delivered by 1pm today, thinking of having my first jab after done the school run.

Feeling very nervous as have never taken anything for weight loss before just willpower and calorie counting, but have turned into an evening binger when bored and don't stop thinking about food.

Ive gone from 19st 12lb to 12st 12lb calorie counting, but it has taken me 2 and a half years but I'm at the point now where snacking is taking over and in the past 2 weeks have gained 7lb. I just don't stop thinking of food.

SW: 13st 6.8lb
GW: 11st (healthy BMI)

BemusedBrenda · 28/06/2024 10:11

I used my first pen this morning. I've been planning out my meals for the week ahead as I've read it's very important to have nutritionally dense meals as you're likely to eat less, but I'm finding it impossible to hit 100g of protein. How do others manage it? I'm pescatarian and today's meals include Greek yoghurt, mackerel, eggs and cheese. Still only 63g of protein.

DoctorMartin · 28/06/2024 10:16

I'm wondering if some side effects I'm feeling (a bit shaky and jittery) are actually sugar withdrawal. I probably need to eat a bit more but it's really tough. I might make myself a VP protein shake today.

I’m finding it hard too and I eat meat! I think it’s especially hard if you’re eating a calorie deficit. Can you scramble the eggs with some smoked salmon, snack on some nuts, or maybe have a protein shake?

TheRoseShaker · 28/06/2024 11:20

Hi all

I'm new! Just signed up so I could join this thread. I've ordered my first Mounjaro pen, it's being delivered today, so I'm hovering by the door waiting for the postman!

I too suffer with emotional/stress eating, and have had some health problems this year which has led to me just binging on crap basically, and now I look like I'm 8 months pregnant! I've started calorie counting and trying to make healthier decisions, and I'm hoping this will help too as I've absolutely no will power. I used to eat really healthily, but that's all gone to pot recently.

Look forward to the journey with you all!

SW 84kg
GW 70kg

BemusedBrenda · 28/06/2024 11:55

Thanks @NewoIkkin at least it's not just me! I can't do protein shakes or powders at all unfortunately. I do have some nuts but they are quite high cal.

Edited to add, I spotted recommendations for protein yoghuts on another thread so will try to get some of those.

PlinkyPlonkyDonkey · 28/06/2024 13:32

Hi everyone, I just did my first injection - excited to start this journey! I have 46 pounds to lose. I previously lost 4 stone through extreme food restriction and daily intensive exercise - it wasn’t sustainable and I put 3.5 stone back on. I don’t have the resilience right now (work and life stress) to ‘do it all again’ so have decided to give Mounjaro a try, and use this time to reset my relationship with food and exercise. Good luck everyone!

I don't think I've been having enough protein. I'm planning on making sure I'm having eggs most days to bump it up a bit. I do eat meat so I'm getting some there.

I'm fatigued today, but I think it's a handover type effect from eating badly last night! Got a nice veg packed dinner planned for dinner tonight so I don't feel like I did yesterday!

Welcome to the new people! Exited to hear how everyone gets on
