Mounjaro July 2024

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

So... First injection, done! Was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was, I felt a bit daunted seeing the size of the instruction leaflet, but it was fine. I was going to do it tomorrow, but we've just come back from a birthday party and I'm already feeling cold and headache-y, so thought I might as well get it over with!

I'm still feeling apprehensive about potential side effects, but I have Immodium on standby in case it's really bad (another birthday party tomorrow) and I have some pysillium husk capsules on order in case I have the opposite problem. I get frequent headaches and sometimes migraines too, so that wouldn't be too much out of the ordinary for me.

I've meal-planned for the next week with a focus on protein and veg intake, and my food shop is being delivered in the morning. I've only ordered a tiny loaf of bread for my son and husband, where we'd normally get through two loaves a week with my toast habit - really hoping that is the first craving to go!

Good luck everyone 🤞

NewLifter · 29/06/2024 22:22

So I injected around 9.30am or so. Was absolutely ravenous at lunchtime - period is due. Went out shopping for the afternoon and got home about 5 and realised I didn't want dinner. Spin class 7-8pm then had a toastie. Felt hungry after so made up a bowl of fruit but couldn't finish it.

Feeling ok except for the cold - oh my god am I cold! Currently have on pyjamas, hoodie, dressing gown and wrapped in a blanket 😳 hoping that passes quickly!

I've been calorie counting for a month now (so not expecting the large first week loss that normally comes!) and usually finish on around 1700 calories (can't ever manage to keep it under that!) but am finishing on 1200 today. Happy with that! It's Saturday and my period is due so I would normally be snacking all evening.

Going out for lunch tomorrow so will be interesting to see how that goes.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend ❤️

MounjaroMunchie · 30/06/2024 08:22

Ooh, that seems to have kicked in quite quickly for you then @NewLifter !

I've been up since 6am with my little one, and have just now had a single crumpet with a bit of cream cheese and I feel satisfied with that. Ordinarily, it would be two crumpets and maybe a piece of fruit too.

No side effects so far apart from really sore/achy neck and trapezoid muscles. Google took me to the Reddit Mounjaro boards, where this appears to be relatively common 1-2 days after injection.

Ballyguin · 30/06/2024 08:24

Morning everyone 🙂. I took my first dose on Friday afternoon and honestly can’t say that I feel much different. I still get hunger and still want to eat the same crap I usually do. I’ve decided to not make any real changes this first week and just see how it goes.

I've not had any obvious side effects, although a small glass of wine on Friday took me 3 hours to finish, so that is unusual! I’m also peeing like a horse so hopefully will lose water weight.

Re: exercise, if any of you have Sky they are doing an offer on the new Mvmnt app and it’s free for 45 days and after that only £7.99 pm. Also, if you have one of the more modern Samsung smart TVs the Samsung Health app on the TV has free online classes including some Jillian Michaels ones.

I'm going to do an online class today for the first time in ages - so maybe the Mounjaro is having an effect after all 😁

PS, I moaned about people dropping codes, but I just meant people popping on to the various threads to do only that, and not contributing in any way to the conversations - I’ll be needing codes myself at some point x

That's really interesting because I woke up with awful pain in my neck and shoulder yesterday and thought I'd slept funny, but perhaps it's this. It's really quite painful! 😩

I'm only on full day 4 (injected Wednesday night) but I did a sneaky weigh in this morning and I've lost 5.6lbs! Really pleased. I need to make a conscious effort to try eat more though.

I went out for lunch yesterday so I didn't make the effort to have breakfast and then I couldn't bring myself to pay £16 for a sandwich I wasn't going to eat so I shared a couple of starters and a portion of chips with my 10 year old. I didn't have much of it - my husband couldn't believe his luck that he got so many leftovers!

I wasn't hungry afterwards, although I had a small bowl of bran flakes because I'm in desperate need of fibre at the moment!

I want to up my calories as I want slow and steady losses as eating this little will not be sustainable afterwards.

BemusedBrenda · 30/06/2024 09:27

I did my first injection on Friday morning and I'm surprised to say I think it is working for me and also giving me side effects straightaway - after reading that 2.5mg is not a therapeutic dose, I didn't think it would! I am still getting hungry before mealtimes but have been getting much fuller much quicker. Effortlessly ate lower calories than usual the last two days. Side effects - chills/feeling cold the day of the injection, then last night woke up with horrible bloating and discomfort in the tummy. I would have been worried as it was quite severe but read on one of these boards that it has happened to others. It passed and I feel fine this morning. Also 4lbs down since Friday am (obvs water weight but nice to see anyway).

MounjaroMunchie · 30/06/2024 09:40

That's a great loss @greenmillions !

321Backintheroom · 30/06/2024 10:31

Hi everyone , I’ve started with my first jab on Friday . Thankfully no side affects yet but have definitely noticed the suppression . No walking to the fridge to grab snacks and out for lunch yesterday and really struggled to eat the whole meal .
I’m peri and gained three stones since covid as have really struggled to shift anything with calorie counting , I just want to have my energy back .

For those who have ordered via Zava how does it work when you order your next pen , do they automatically put you up to 5mg or can you request to stay on 2.5mg ? Also what happens when you get to “healthy” BMI do they allow you to still order to wean off ? Also how soon should I be ordering my next pen , I’ve heard people say they have experienced delays with the second pen arriving ?

I used someone’s code from here for a discount (I’m not sure who’s but thank you ) so I’m sharping mine
My personal referral code for ZAVA: REFFBUH3

Secretslimmer · 30/06/2024 10:33

I bought from Voy, their first month is discounted (£85 off if use this code) plus half price or more if you refer others after that. My husband and a friend took my referrals and I think someone from Mumsnet took another so almost all of mine have actually all been discounted so far, mostly £114 per month plus one full price at £229.
Food wise I’ve gone for high protein, lots of veg, as little UPF as possible. 3 months in I’ve just hit the milestone of losing 1 and a half stone so I’m happy! About a stone to go.

My referral code here if you want to try. I’ve found the service really good unlike other ones (Curate, Zava, Med Express) which have cheaper headline price but seem to have a lot of delivery problems, judging by complaints on Mumsnet:

I've started my injections this morning, I really hope it works, I look awful.

Jomummy1013 · 30/06/2024 13:38

@Secretslimmer that's an amazing loss well done!

I found Zava ok for posting and getting my pen to me but maybe I'm in the minority!

I also have a referral code if anyone wants it. X

Tillymanilli · 30/06/2024 13:53

Hi, I am on day 9 so 2nd injection taken on Friday. I had no side effect on week one at all. Woke up Saturday to sulphur burps which were not pleasant but they have now passed.

I haven’t told anyone at all I am taking this and managed to hide my pen in the fridge. The reason I’m not telling anyone is that I want to go about this without any questions as to how it’s going or any negative comments. I’m also tracking all my food on my fitness pal o ensure a calorie deficit each day.

I weighed in today and have lost 8lbs. I’m expecting this to slow down but more than happy to just chip away at it.

Starting weight: 14st 1lb
Todays weight: 13st 7lb
Goal weight: 10st

Same here, my husband hasn't noticed it in the fridge yet!

I'm on day 2, took 1st dose on Friday. Not sure I've noticed any difference yet, I had started calorie counting before starting so I'm making an effort anyway. Been out at a competition on my horse this morning and I would normally be starving and feeling faint by now, but I just had 2 slices of leftover pizza and don't feel overly hungry, the tester will be if I can resist the burger vans though! Done the food shop at Aldi just now and didn't want to throw the whole supermarket in my trolley, so that's good.

Trying not to weigh in until Wednesday. I'm on a WhatsApp group with friends, we're calorie counting on myfitnesspal, haven't told them I'm cheating either... I'm going to hell right Blush

Good Luck! I'm on day 3 now and no side effect so far just feeling a lot fuller quicker and less appetite, so far so good.

If you haven't chosen a supplier yet, I used Zava, I ordered Weds @9pm, uploaded photos Thursday @ 6am, it was approved Thursday 11am and I received it Friday Morning by Royal Mail. If you go with Zava, I have a referral code below for 15% off, I did this for my first order.

Use my code and you’ll get 15% off your first order at ZAVA: REFVWP7P
https://www.zavamed.com/uk/?utmmedium=referral&utmmsource=referaafriend
Maximum discount value: £30

Lumirubin · 30/06/2024 22:53

Well @scoobysnaxx I have 5-7 stone to loose to be in "healthy range" but tbh id be happy with 4 just to get me back to my comfy.
I keep seeing accounts on social media of people who have gone from much bigger than me to really skinny and im trying to remind myself that isn't always the case. not all of us are going to end up a size 8 after this. I just want to comfortably fit back in a 14 and be able to squeeze into a 12 on a good day 😂

NewoIkkin · 30/06/2024 23:02

@Lumirubin @scoobysnaxx I have a little over 7 stone to lose to be a “healthy” BMI, but realistically I’d be happy with about 5 and a half which would put me at a size 16. I’ve always struggled to maintain anything lower than that, even though I’m short!

NewLifter · 01/07/2024 08:58

And it's July! Looking forward to lots of new people joining us on our journey. Here's my discount code for purchasing from Zava for a 15% discount in case it helps anyone - REF3PCF5
I found them easy to deal with!

Have woken this morning definitely not hungry. Went out for food yesterday afternoon and that all I ate all day (was afternoon tea, brought loads home and it's still in the fridge!).

Still managed a spin class last night though was definitely lethargic.

Definitely feeling a bit constipated so will need to make a plan to sort that!

Yeh it's definitely a good idea to choose a weight that is sustainable and size 8 won't be for most of us! I personally think that 12-14 is ideal and realistic.

Maintaining weight loss is so incredibly hard 😭

jlpm1957 · 01/07/2024 10:46

Day one for me!! I thought I'd start on the 1st of the month (which is also, helpfully, a Monday) for psychological reasons. Just had my jab! Thrilled to say the injection felt like nothing - not even a pinprick! Now of course I'm worried about immediate side effects 😂How did other people find their first jab? Did anyone have side effects in Week One? Not that I'm a hypochondriac...

Oh, forgot to add:

SW: 19st 12lbs (eek)
GW: 14st - this will get me out of Obese and into Overweight, which would be a huge win for me!

girljulian · 01/07/2024 10:50

Just done first injection! I wasn't worried about the injection as after millions of fertility treatment ones, I'm an old hand. Weighing in kg because it's got no emotional resonance for me.

SW: 80.1 kg
GW: 57 kg

CatTraveler · 01/07/2024 11:14

Hello - hope this is the right/best place to ask these questions.

I have made the decision that weight loss injections are the best way for me at the moment, I have at least 10 stone to loose to get to a "healthy" BMI. I have tried every diet under the sun and had some sucess with calorie counting but it does seem I loose the same stone again and again. I have some issues with binge eatting but have been working on that and got it under control - still over eat but not the 6 bars of chocolate a night I did at times.

My questions;
I know that many people on here use Zava and Voy (I will find a referal code if I go with one of them), google gives a huge number of suppliers (including Juniper who appear on my FB feed regularly) - are Zava and Voy regarded as the best suppliers or any others I should consider. Anyone used them both to give me pros and cons of them?

When you sign up with a supplier do you need to reorder your injections or does it auto renew?

Do people still track what they eat in Nutracheck or anything?

I know that everyones experence is different and I have read that people have lack of energy, I assume slightly due to reduced calorie intake, do you find this stops you doing gym classes etc?

Anything else you wish you had known before starting?

Time4changeagain · 01/07/2024 11:52

@CatTraveler
ive only used medexpress and zava,
Medexpress were good but stopped the discount code’s pretty quickly hence moving over to zava. With both you have to re-order yourself but get reminded and you can choose to stay on the dose you are on or move up. I haven’t had any side affects apart from the appetite suppression so I’ve been really lucky!

I think with voy it is a subscription so I’m not sure if you have to re-order yourself. Voy can get expensive if nobody uses your discount code.

Zava seems to be one of the cheaper ones at the moment - 2.5mg and 5mg work out at £122 after a 15% discount is applied.
If you’re in need of a code, mine for Zava is REFA5RT2 (max discount £30)

Good luck on your journey 😀

girljulian · 01/07/2024 12:16

I found Voy really quick and efficient, they also have a really good app to support you. Here's my discount code -- pretty cheap with it: https://joinvoy.com/r/U-wxUkNl8zUq
