Mounjaro July 2024

1000 replies

Lumirubin · 20/06/2024 19:20

Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

ill have to search around, thanks for all the recommendations. Would anyone like to explain how to get an extra dose from the pens? I don’t seem to understand, sorry if I sound silly! Also what does it mean when they say you have to prime?

thanks x

I've been pleased with Zava, haven't had any of the issues someone mentioned down thread. A friend used my code and I didn't expect anyone else to as I haven't shared it so I ordered my 5 and 7.5 pens together.

This is mine anyway in case anyone wants to use it!

REFTC5YQ

I haven't seen any movement on the scales this week which is annoying, I've lost 15lbs so far and I've got a little target in mind of 2 stone total by the time the kids go back to school or close at least so I want to see a bit of a loss

JessicaPeach · 25/07/2024 10:11

Just realised I forgot to answer your question about priming but @WeAllHaveWings has covered it beautifully!

PCOSmumma · 25/07/2024 10:55

@WeAllHaveWings amazing! That’s so helpful thank you.

so does everyone keep their pen in the fridge from start to finish? I’m trying not to keep mine in the fridge after first use as I’m trying to keep it a secret from the oh

Instructions say pen must be used from 30 days of first use or 30 days from when it is unrefrigerated whichever is sooner. Up to you to choose.

To get that 5th dose, you probably want to keep it in the fridge until day 1.

It must be stored below 30 degrees.

My order has been dispatched with Royal Mail, I should get it tomorrow. They wanted confirmation that I'd already been on the 2.5ml dose before they released the 5ml but it was straightforward to send them the proof, just the invoice from Voy.

delphi13 · 25/07/2024 17:19

My 5ml was despatched today and I took my last dose from the 2.5ml pen. I upped the dosage using the bonus as the 2.5ml wasn't suppressing as much as I'd like. I'd bought the diabetic needles but didn't need them as I was able to hard twist it round.

I must say after 3 weeks on it, it's a revelation not to be struggling to reduce calories at last. I. Fact it's more of a conscious effort to eat more and get the protein right. Normally I'd be so desperate for carbs the protein would be going out of the window. I'd also be feeling it wasn't sustainable for long normally and it's just no bother at all on this injection. I've about 5 stone to lose but that actually feels achievable now.

Lumirubin · 25/07/2024 18:02

@delphi13 I know what you mean about big losses suddenly feeling achievable. The most I've ever lost is 2 stone, which has been fine because I've never been this fat before! But that 2 stone was hard work, so the thought of loosing 5 was impossible. Now I'm only 6lbs off that 2 stone mark and feel like I'm just getting started! So it feels like this can actually happen for once. I don't feel deprived like I usually do on a diet. I'm not counting how many days since I had a "cheat" meal and wondering if it's been enough time for me to have another and still loose, I simply don't want a cheat meal! It's crazy

Day 11

Woke up feeling really hungry then felt sicky and tired very low energy for the rest of the day not a good day! Weighing in morning and taking 3rd jag. Hope everyone is doing well we got this!

Secretslimmer · 25/07/2024 22:16

Mounjarorookie · 24/07/2024 11:10

Hi

hoping it’s ok to join you all here.
I took the plunge, ordered and had my first Mounjaro jab today (I hope, I followed the instructions but I’m not convinced it did actually go in if that makes sense!)

I am 54 , 5 ft 4, currently 13 stone which is the heaviest I have been in my entire life. Spent most of my adult life weighing between 11 and 11 1/2 stones until 4 years ago when my GP changed my contraceptive pill (their policy was to change brands at age 50) and my weight rocketed.
I cook from scratch, don’t have a sweet tooth but like a nice red wine (and have a weakness for crisps).
Im also on HRT.
married, childless (simply didn’t happen but have come to terms with that long ago)

Ive tried everything over the last 4 years, intermittent fasting, weight watchers, 30 day shred and so on. Absolutely no joy. I’ve never been thin - I was a fat child, a fat teenager and a stocky adult. I exercise lots though (60 minutes body pump, step or spin per day) and could (until last year) run a 10k in under an hour so in my 30s I finally accepted I was never going to be “normal” weight but as long as I was fit I could live with it. My GP has never accepted my stance, I’ve been accused of lying about my exercise as it’s “not possible” for someone to exercise as much as I do and still be obese :(

so, I’m rambling. I’m ashamed, disgusted and mortified about my weight and shape. I haven’t told a soul I’m doing Mounjaro. I know I will be judged so I can’t tell anyone but I do need a friendly space to chat and also to be accountable so I’ve joined this merry group.

whilst my GP tells me my ideal weight is 8 stone and that I should aim for 10% below I’ve never considered that realistic. In my 20s I got down to 8.5 stones by not eating at all, drinking water and black coffee only but after 6 months couldn’t sustain it. My intermediate goal is 11.5 stones. (Most of my wardrobe would fit me at this stage) but I’d love to get to 9.5 eventually.

sorry, that was long…..

Your GP sounds really unhelpful!

I’m the same height as you and I’m aiming for 9 stone.

If I manage that it will be the lowest for at least 25 years. But I think 9 and half stone might be sufficient, I’ve been there before and I think that would be a pretty good place to land.

I really wouldn’t want a pep talk from your doctor!
Good luck

It's so lovely to feel this way!

I'm looking forward to losing some more so that running gets a bit easier. I've picked up a hip twinge that I'm sure I wouldn't have if I wasn't so hefty. It'll be so nice not to feel my gut wobbling along and to not have to bind my boobs with two bras so I don't knock myself out 🤣

This is all so true. It feels so weird to just be waiting to lose it rather than constantly thinking about when I can stop. I've also been very successful at losing 2 stone in the past and that's always when I start to feel good and give up. Now I have lost a stone and still have nearly 3 stone to get to my previous 'I need to lose 2 stone' weight so a long way to go but I feel confident that I will!

JessicaPeach · 25/07/2024 22:35

Why are we being spammed with codes this evening? Could you all at least pretend to join in for a bit first?!

🤣🤣🤣

Lumirubin · 25/07/2024 22:51

@JessicaPeach yeah that's a good way of putting it, I've never felt as confident about loosing it as I do now, and being able to imagine that end goal as a reality rather than just a far off number feels so good!

Tell me about it with the codes 😂

JessicaPeach · 25/07/2024 23:11

I was saying to my friend the other day that since I started this I have felt suddenly a lot more confident, you know the way you feel when people start noticing and you are getting a lot of compliments. So obviously had no compliments as not most anything but all the anxiety over being desperate to lose 1lb or whatever has just gone.

I think this is a bit of wishful thinking but even though I've not lost for nearly a week I feel like I look lighter (to me) all the time, I don't measure but my shape is definitely changing.

JugglingMumma · 25/07/2024 23:19

Just posting to say hello! I’ve been lurking for a few days and this thread has made me feel much more confident that I am doing the right thing.
im on day 2 of 2.5, no side effects so far apart from being quite thirsty.
I was very nervous to start and had the pen in the fridge for a few days before I got up the nerve to do it. Reading everyone’s experiences on here has been a big help.
I had to get my hubby to do the dose for me as I can’t bring myself to do it - I’m such a wimp!
I’ve struggled with my weight all my life and been on and off slimming world for years. I just can’t seem to stick to it for more than a few months at a time - I love food (and wine!) too much! Plus all the meal planning is a huge commitment on top of a busy family life.
I’m amazed that this really has pushed all thoughts of food out of my head and I’m having to remind myself to eat.

Starting weight 13st9 and would love to lose 2.5 to 3 stone

does anyone have any meal ideas? Or what types of food your having while on the injections

I'm just eating whatever I can stand to put in my face. I have a sense that it needs to be something useful or nutritious, so I've mainly been eating, like, a chicken breast or a salmon fillet. A couple of leaves.

Omelette and salad, chicken breast and salad, jacket potato with beans and salad, salad... you get the jist Grin I love salad to be fair

Taking my 2nd dose of 5mg in the morning, found the suppression wore off by day 5, but I still get full quickly when eating, but can eat a decent amount

gimmemounjaro · 26/07/2024 05:04

@PCOSmumma
There is a good thread for meal ideas here, hope this works

Summerheels · 26/07/2024 06:54

@Mounjarorookie i know how you feel I’m a little shorter than you but same age bracket and always been fit and fat, whilst my siblings were fit and normal weight. For the first time I feel like my head is like theirs now as I can eat with control and not crave sugar & carbs nonstop. My running has already got a bit easier and my joint pain is hugely down plus brain fog lifted loads! I hope you can continue to feel good too.
