Thought id start a thread for anyone starting in July given we are almost there. I've just ordered tonight with Voy, hoping I get approved and will be able to start next week.

I'm a little apprehensive as some of my eating habits are emotionally driven not hunger! So I'm going to need to find some will power too. That's why I've gone with a company that provides support as well as just medication.

Anyone fancy joining along?

My starting weight is 18st 1lb and I'm 5ft 5 so I've ALOT to loose.

I’m quite surprised I’ve had sulphur burps day after my jab and day 2 (yesterday) has diarrhoea pretty much all day. It was my 4th 2.5mg jab and no side effects last week. So strange!
I’m wondering if it’s to do with what I ate (and drank), went to pizza express and had a Buddha bowl with goats cheese and beetroot and it was healthy but still quite rich. Also had a can of gin and lemonade spread over the evening (would previously easily put away two of those plus wine sometimes!).

a little nervous as away on holiday this time next week and planning to do bonus dose, really hoping tummy is ok!
theres no pain or anything just need to be near a toilet

I was saying to my friend the other day that since I started this I have felt suddenly a lot more confident, you know the way you feel when people start noticing and you are getting a lot of compliments. So obviously had no compliments as not most anything but all the anxiety over being desperate to lose 1lb or whatever has just gone.

I think this is a bit of wishful thinking but even though I've not lost for nearly a week I feel like I look lighter (to me) all the time, I don't measure but my shape is definitely changing.

The scales aren't moving much for me either, but my shape has definitely changed - not quite three weeks in and I can zip up a skirt that was way too tight before! I don't measure either, but the skirt is my yardstick.

I also weirdly cheered myself up trying on beachwear and bikinis; I realise that sounds insane. But I'm going on holiday and have bought two gorgeous brightly patterned high-waist bikinis and some swishy cover-ups and was really happy with how they look, maybe because I feel lighter. Last year when I was away, I felt so bad about myself and this time I'm going to wear tropical prints and enjoy it.

I did think what a waste of money on the bikinis (they weren't cheap) because they won't fit anymore by the next holiday after this one. I feel so sure of it, that by next summer I'll be a few sizes down. So I do have faith in this process.

WeepingInASunlitRoom · 26/07/2024 07:18

Oh no @User364837 that's so strange! Have you drunk any alcohol on MJ before? I haven't - it just hasn't appealed - and I'm also a bit apprehensive about being on holiday and the change in food/drink bringing on new side effects. I've had nothing gastric so far and I'd like to keep it that way. I wouldn't mind not drinking while away, but we're with in-laws and it will be noticed if I don't and I have had scathing comments about all my 'mad diets' before so I'm not prepared to discuss MJ!

User364837 · 26/07/2024 07:24

Yes I have drunk alcohol but I suppose not at that stage in the week. I’ve been able to enjoy a little towards the end of my Mounjaro week and not drunk as much or as quickly but didn’t suffer any effects. Although as I say, that was in the last few days before the next jab when I’ve been feeling basically normal.
I’ll definitely be more mindful of alcohol the first few days next week!
could also to do with hormones as I’m due on

CatTraveler · 26/07/2024 07:56

Just done my third injection and when I pulled the needle out there was a drop of blood (no problem there) but also a wee bit of liquid, so obviously some of the precious Moungaro. I am sure that some/most of the liquid went in - I have put a photo below showing with the needle cover for scale.

I know this is hard to answer but any idea what I might have done wrong? Might I not be waiting long enough after getting to 0 before I pull the neddle out?

Lumirubin · 26/07/2024 07:58

@User364837 Ive had diarrhoea twice now since starting, one was day 2 after my second jab, I'd eaten some pizza on jab day and the second time was after having some fried rice. So mine is definitely related to having rich/bad food. Maybe the Buddah bowl was a bit too rich! When I had it for days my Voy coach said to cut dairy for a few days too as that can often trigger it

A slow week for me, but a loss at least

sw 118.1
wk1 115 -3.1kg
wk2 114 -1kg

i need to eat more veges, but I’m either not hungry/can’t eat much or just don’t fancy a meal.

going to buy some smoothies.
off camping next week, vegetarian camp (going with large community), so should be fine.

I think that looks like you are pressing very hard on the site, you don't need to really, just hold it in place. I usually count to 10 after I've finished pressing to make sure it's all in. Press it down slow and steady

Mounjaroooooh · 26/07/2024 09:14

I'm on week 4, losses so far have been 8lbs, 4lbs and 2lbs which I know, and have done before, that I can do without MJ as I'm calorie counting. I'm going to take my first 5mg dose on Sunday as I'm still not feeling great suppression but I am eating well under my daily calories in the hope of getting decent losses. Bit deflated so far, thought I wouldn't want to eat much or at least feel fuller sooner but that's still not happening so I'm really, really hoping the 5mg works for me. It's too expensive for this not to work and I've still got 4 stone min to lose Sad

Secretslimmer · 26/07/2024 09:37

Mounjarorookie · 24/07/2024 11:10

Hi

hoping it’s ok to join you all here.
I took the plunge, ordered and had my first Mounjaro jab today (I hope, I followed the instructions but I’m not convinced it did actually go in if that makes sense!)

I am 54 , 5 ft 4, currently 13 stone which is the heaviest I have been in my entire life. Spent most of my adult life weighing between 11 and 11 1/2 stones until 4 years ago when my GP changed my contraceptive pill (their policy was to change brands at age 50) and my weight rocketed.
I cook from scratch, don’t have a sweet tooth but like a nice red wine (and have a weakness for crisps).
Im also on HRT.
married, childless (simply didn’t happen but have come to terms with that long ago)

Ive tried everything over the last 4 years, intermittent fasting, weight watchers, 30 day shred and so on. Absolutely no joy. I’ve never been thin - I was a fat child, a fat teenager and a stocky adult. I exercise lots though (60 minutes body pump, step or spin per day) and could (until last year) run a 10k in under an hour so in my 30s I finally accepted I was never going to be “normal” weight but as long as I was fit I could live with it. My GP has never accepted my stance, I’ve been accused of lying about my exercise as it’s “not possible” for someone to exercise as much as I do and still be obese :(

so, I’m rambling. I’m ashamed, disgusted and mortified about my weight and shape. I haven’t told a soul I’m doing Mounjaro. I know I will be judged so I can’t tell anyone but I do need a friendly space to chat and also to be accountable so I’ve joined this merry group.

whilst my GP tells me my ideal weight is 8 stone and that I should aim for 10% below I’ve never considered that realistic. In my 20s I got down to 8.5 stones by not eating at all, drinking water and black coffee only but after 6 months couldn’t sustain it. My intermediate goal is 11.5 stones. (Most of my wardrobe would fit me at this stage) but I’d love to get to 9.5 eventually.

sorry, that was long…..

Also I wanted to say please try to move past the feelings of shame, which we all have or have had sometimes.

Hopefully this group will help but I really think having a GP who sounds that awful is a terrible demotivator.

I’ve been overweight for much of my life, with a few big swings up and down, but also maintained pretty good fitness.

Also once managed a sub hour 10k and was thrilled! I’m glad I didn’t have a GP disputing what I was up to, my garmin told me I had fitness levels in my 20s or something, when I was in my 40s and I was very happy to accept that.

I think your intermediate goal sounds very sensible and I hope you find Mounjaro makes it all soooo much more achievable.

I honestly can't get my head around this at all! You are doing absolutely incredible. Even if you aren't getting good suppression, you're losing large amounts of weight - a stone in 3 weeks!

I've had good suppression but have lost 12lbs in 4 weeks and am over the moon!

Suppression will come for you when you hit the right dose for you. Just keep trucking on, you're doing great!! You say you could do this without MJ but why then did you buy MJ?

Please stop being so hard on yourself and just enjoy your improved health xx

thinkfast · 26/07/2024 10:19

End of week two for me. Disappointed with this week's result, after a great first week. I'm eating so much less, and so much more healthily than I normally would, so was expecting more this week.

I guess the important thing to remember is that the weight is going in the right direction and it has been MUCH easier than without MJ.

SW: 21 stone 3lb
CW: 20 stone 4 lb
Week 1- 11 lb
Week 2 - 2 lb

SilenceInside · 26/07/2024 10:31

Weigh in day for me too. Going to do my 4th and final 2.5mg injection later today, and move onto 5mg next week.

SW 139kg
CW 131kg
GW 125kg

So that's 3kg loss from last week, and 8kg overall. I'm amazed at losing that much in only 3 weeks. Still have a very long way to go, given my super high starting weight, but very happy to be making progress!

TurningPointe · 26/07/2024 10:35

Hello again 👋🏻

Into my first week of 5mg, and I have had a few miserable side effects 😔

I'm going to make myself eat better this weekend in the hopes that will improve 🙌🏻

Good to catch up a bit on everyone's progress!

SilenceInside · 26/07/2024 10:36

@thinkfast almost a stone in 2 weeks is amazing, it really is. The second week consolidates the first week and means that it is genuine lasting weight loss.

SJLOUNJARO · 26/07/2024 10:38

2nd weigh in this morning another 2lbs off so that is approx 6lb roughly in 2 weeks (I hadn't weighed just beforehand as was scared to look but took last known weight) I feel bloated this morning I don't think I've been drinking enough water this week and I was hoping for more as I know my food intake has been significantly less however overall I do feel better in my clothes. I haven't been eating consistent breakfasts either and I do think that helps a great deal. I like every one want huge losses but I know this is realistic it is going to take time though like every weight loss plan. I suppose the difference is the food noise is gone and I don't feel starving constantly. Have felt sluggish at times this week and again that's due to not enough water probably and at times I've had some choc (my excuse being to get the bowels moving! Which they didn't). On to injection 3 later and I've brought this forward a day to get me on to a Friday which gives me weekend to deal with side effects! Have a great day everyone ☺️

Happy Friday eveyone! 2.5 mg injection Number 4 this morning...weigh-in Number 3:

Start weight: 15 st 8 lbs (BMI = 37.2)
Current weight: 14 st 8 lbs
Goal weight: 9 st 0 lbs (BMI = 21.5)
Week 1 Loss = 6 lbs
Week 2 Loss = 5 lbs
Week 3 Loss = 3 lbs

One stone gone! This morning I actually feel lighter, if that makes sense.

I received my 5mg pen from Asda yesterday (fab service, by the way) but will try using my "bonus dose" next Friday and hopefully it will be somewhere between 2.5 and 5 mg to give me a bridge.

Yeah I know I've had good losses but I've had similar if not better without having to use the injection. I was expecting to not have much of an appetite and to feel full when eating but it's just not happening, the only reason I'm losing is because I'm practically starving myself (average 900 cals/day) which is taking every last ounce of willpower. I know 2.5 is the loading dose and it might all change on 5, I hope so, but at the moment I feel a bit deflated as I've got a long way to go.

My expectations were bigger losses in all honesty.

I appreciate your kind words though

Aworldofmyown · 26/07/2024 13:22

I took my 4th dose yesterday.
SW 187
CW 177
5mg pen ordered.
I'm so impressed, this has made it so easy to choose the right foods. I've had little to no side effects too.

KeepinOn · 26/07/2024 13:23

Weigh-in: I've gone up this week! By 400g apparently, but still. Clearly I'm ready to move up to the 5mg, I'm eating as normal again.

My delivery from Oxford Online Pharmacy arrived today, very well packed and with a lot of needles and a large sharps bin.

It seems to be good value, I paid about £148-odd including shipping.

Emeraldpies · 26/07/2024 13:25

Lots of us weighing today. Well done everyone 🙂 Third weigh in today and 4lbs off which means I've lost exactly a stone in three weeks. Will take fourth 2.5mg jab tonight.

I still have no appetite suppression, no side effects and the food noise is very loud. I'm losing weight because of the Mounjaro but only because I'm being careful about what I'm eating because I'm scared of the side effects if I don't. I've also upped my exercise, joined a gym, cycled and joined a Pilates and yoga class this week! 😀 I'm loving that I feel in control after being out of control for so long!

Week 1 -7.8lbs
Week 2 -2.2lbs
Week 3 -4lbs

Week 2 - 2 lb

It's really important to remember that 11lbs in a week is not normal or sustainable and 2lbs is. Most of that 11lbs will have been water weight, and now that's gone you'll actually start losing fat. 2lbs a week is great, sustainable weight loss and puts you at lower risk of complications like gallbladder problems and loose skin. Don't be too disappointed!

thinkfast · 26/07/2024 15:54

Thanks @hoarahloux

With previous weight loss attempts, I've lost the most weight at the start and it's tailed off after a couple of months and needed REALLY hard work and tons of exercise to keep losing. Plus I was much younger then!

I'm hoping I'll consistently lose 2 lb a week with MJ without too much effort, planning to start more exercise in September.

AJ1969 · 26/07/2024 16:11

Hiya sorry about my brief message yesterday just wanted to start to say something before i ask questions - is there anyone who is taking MJ noticed any changes with menopause sweats - not sure I'm imagining it or have they slowed down due to the injections. I'm on 7.5 mg but only losing weight very very slowly not sure what I'm doing wrong - any ideas
