Welcome to thread 4!

Pointers for newbies:
1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1!

2 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system.

3 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

4 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

5 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

6 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :
www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.14201.pdf

7 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

8 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. Ask for suggestions of sites /types to buy.

9 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day. There are protein supplements you can take. Myprotein have a good range. Ask for a referral code if you want to buy some.

10 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

11 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

12 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

13 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

14 - Some of the places you can order from are:
MedExpress £149.99 - Sometimes there are codes that can be used for a discount. Ask for a code on here or do a Google search to try and find one.
Voy - £114.99 for first month then £229 after. Need a referral code (ask on here for one if needed)
The Family Chemist -£149
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 for 5mg
Asda £184
Boots £219

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs

16 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

17 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

Does starting dose need to be 2.5?

Rainbowl · 07/04/2024 18:58

@Fattyarse123 our lovely @ObsidianTree has done a post full of the information you’re looking for - it’s the first post of this thread.

Sabblue · 07/04/2024 19:07

stomachamelon · 07/04/2024 18:46

@Sabblue I ordered my first (2.5mg) from voy with a voucher (about £125) and have just ordered my second (5mg) from Medexpress with a voucher from here (about £130)
It's worth shopping about.

Thank you! Can I get the second dose for that price of I sign up or is this just for the 1st dose?
I ordered from boots as I was just worried about online pharmacies now reading all this post I see my mistake!
what if you want next dose 7,5 as looks like medexpress don’t have it?

Sabblue · 07/04/2024 19:10

ObsidianTree · 07/04/2024 18:48

@Sabblue I think MedExpress works out good value as their prices are lower than other places and they often have voucher codes that you can use each month to save some money. When you're ready for your second pen you can sign up with medexpress and get the higher dose. Just look on here or Google search for codes when ready to order.

Edited

On their website it looks like they only have the 2,5 and 5 dose are they just out of stock on 7,5 or higher now? Would prefer just stay at one place going forward. Also do you know how much they are charging for 7,5? Thanks

RagzRebooted · 07/04/2024 19:11

Voy will only do the first at £115 then you either need to cancel (it's a subscription and the rest are £229) or if someone uses your referral code it's another 50% off the next order.
I was lucky that someone on Reddit used mine so I get my second for 50% off as well. Then I'll probably switch to MedExpress. It's easy to cancel though.
Nowhere has 7.5mg yet, they all get them from the same place and there's a delay.

Sabblue · 07/04/2024 19:17

Thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, so if 7,5 is out of stock what everyone is doing? Just stay on 5 and don’t increase?
also when I do move to medexpress now do I just say to them that I had my first dose through boots and I do qualify for the 5mg?

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 07/04/2024 19:17

@MammothyGoodness how are you feeling today? Hopefully it's just the side effects rather than a bug.

Re being freezing cold - I get it after some of the injections but not others. No idea why 🤷🏻‍♀️.

chuffoff · 07/04/2024 19:30

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 07/04/2024 17:33

@chuffoff @Ironinglady2024

Good luck! Building up to taking the first dose is the hardest part!

Thank you! I'm getting all my supplements sorted. Constipation was worse than childbirth for me so I have an ingrained fear of that. Reassuring to hear about lansoprazole though

OneLovingRedCrab · 07/04/2024 19:30

Fattyarse123 · 07/04/2024 18:54

I get mine from Voy and they provide coaching and weigh ins etc if you want to be involved. Little more expensive than other providers but legitimate.

I have a voucher code for 50% off first order which will give me a discount also if anyone would like to use it, it would be very much appreciated 😀

Staying on 5mg, yes. If you switch providers just send them proof of purchasing the lower or same dose elsewhere. Either a photo of the box with your name on, or copy of the order confirmation.

VinegarTits1 · 07/04/2024 19:51

BMI 25.6

2 stone to lose

Hope this works as nothing else seems to be

AgathaMystery · 07/04/2024 19:54

Well I feel a bit silly as I didn’t know I had a refer a friend voucher for Voy - so here to go folks - https://joinvoy.com/r/U-cbsgdSxrss

I got my 1st pen with a discount & then used another provider for my 2nd pen. No idea where to get my 3rd one from! Maybe Voy if someone uses my code. We’ll see!!

Wow these threads go so quickly. I love it.

Second weigh in done.
Another 6lb gone!!? And I have my period at the moment so feel bloated.

So in 15 days I've lost a stone. I have loads more to lose sadly but its motivating (if a little worrying, hope it slows down now)

So my first week a lot of it was willpower as I didn't feel much different.
This week I definitely had the suppression and increased energy. Still feeling cold all the time and struggling with going to the loo but aloe Vera is helping.

CiderJabs · 07/04/2024 20:09

@VinegarTits1 you have 2st to lose with a bmi of 25.6? How?
Don't think you qualify for mj unless you lie about your weight / bmi....

stomachamelon · 07/04/2024 20:15

@VinegarTits1 I am also not sure how you would qualify?

Re being freezing cold - I get it after some of the injections but not others. No idea why 🤷🏻‍♀️.

My nutritionists friend told me it might be because digestion is slowed down, apparently faster digestion creates heat (or something like that)

VinegarTits1 · 07/04/2024 20:26

@CiderJabs I’m 11 stone and would like to be 9.
Didn’t realise I maybe would not qualify. Oh well, there goes that idea……..

CiderJabs · 07/04/2024 20:33

@VinegarTits1 MJ doesn't quite work like that I'm afraid. It's not how much you'd like to weigh but how high your bmi is - unless you're obese (over 30) or have any underlying health conditions and a bmi of 27+ then this is not for you.

Being a normal bmi and wanting to lose a couple of stone just because does not warrant the use of weight loss drugs - that's now what they are for. Maybe revisit your priorities?

NNSingers · 07/04/2024 20:37

I know there are lots of codes flying about but if you want a half price first pen from Voy for £114 (that's what I paid) then here's a code

joinvoy.com/r/U-qiOSX1injl

Im feeling like the food noise is back a bit this evening so went for a long walk to avoid picking at anything! I think I'll go to bed early 😂. Second dose not due until Tuesday evening.

VinegarTits1 · 07/04/2024 20:42

@CiderJabs revisit my priorities?
My bmi is actually classed as overweight.
Thanks Doctor 😀

CiderJabs · 07/04/2024 20:49

@VinegarTits1 wow! Nice attitude! You are so knowledgeable - I'm amazed you didn't know the requirements for weight loss injections! Go ahead and try and order it. See what happens eh ?

I wonder if we can use one another’s codes? And still get discount.

Yes the thread moves quick! I was thinking, the Wegovy thread started in like Jan and they are on their third thread, we started in Feb some point and already on our fourth!
