Welcome to thread 4!

Pointers for newbies:
1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1!

2 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system.

3 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

4 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

5 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

6 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :
www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.14201.pdf

7 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

8 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. Ask for suggestions of sites /types to buy.

9 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day. There are protein supplements you can take. Myprotein have a good range. Ask for a referral code if you want to buy some.

10 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

11 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

12 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

13 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

14 - Some of the places you can order from are:
MedExpress £149.99 - Sometimes there are codes that can be used for a discount. Ask for a code on here or do a Google search to try and find one.
Voy - £114.99 for first month then £229 after. Need a referral code (ask on here for one if needed)
The Family Chemist -£149
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 for 5mg
Asda £184
Boots £219

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
further reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

17 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

I'm here! Did my sixth injection today. Second week at 5mg.

SW 125 kg
CW 118 kg

That's my first stone gone. Next target is 115. I will be pleased when I'm < 100.

I've walked 13.5 miles in the last week - bank holidays have given me time for that! Want to keep that going.

I've found the last 24 hours weird. Eating out for the first time since starting, eating chocolate and then eating when I wasn't hungry. Need to snap out of that.

Am so proud of all we are collectively doing here. This is not easy. It's a long term commitment financially and emotionally. I wonder where we will be by the end of the year...

RagzRebooted · 06/04/2024 16:15

Thanks for the new thread @ObsidianTree
Congratulations @CiderJabs
@FlappyFish you look amazing! Your current weight is about my goal weight. I'm probably taller though (5'10").

I've got a few stone to go before I'm even just overweight, rather than obese. Though I'm weighing in kg as I'm not so emotionally attached to kg. Years of losing and gaining stone and pounds...
SW 110.8kg
CW 106.4kg (took 3rd dose on Monday)
GW 79kg is top of my normal BMI and I'd be happy with anything under that. 76kg would be nice.

Like @ChristmasLightsLover I'll be pleased to break the 100kg mark.

I'm another one who'd love to be able to get my wedding ring off and on. I can turn it, but it's tight. Would also like to be able to fill my bath more than halfway and not displace quite so much water when I get in.
Biggest non scale goal though I'd like to be able to see my undercarriage well enough to shave again. I tried a few months ago and was shocked that I couldn't actually see parts of it!

Woke up hungry this morning so had a bacon, cheese and lettuce sandwich on protein bread and I'm still stuffed. Going for a meal out this evening and doubt I'll manage much. Will probably come clean to DH about the jabs tonight when we've both had a few drinks!

RunningAndSinging · 06/04/2024 16:15

Thanks for the new thread. Having a read of the leaflet I notice it talks about storing out of the fridge for up to 21 cummulative days which makes me think that taking it on holiday and then putting it back in the fridge would be ok or having a slow delivery as long as the total time out of the fridge was less than 21 days.

RagzRebooted · 06/04/2024 16:16

@RunningAndSinging yes that's right, you can store out of the fridge and then put it back and it will be fine as long as it's still in date.

Frightenedbunny · 06/04/2024 13:06

Thanks for this info. I’m just deliberating starting this as I’m fat and fed up. I don’t even recognise the person in photos anymore. I was disgusted at a photo taken last night.

what losses has everyone had in 3 months?

It was a photo that got me too, I'd gone for a walk with the kids and we sat on a bench and one of them took a photo, I couldn't believe how big I look sitting down. Because I'm tall, I don't look as heavy as I am when dressed and standing and I wear loose clothes (scrubs!) to work so I'd gained more than I thought.
I lost just over half a stone in the first two weeks. Expecting it to slow down, but I'm pleased with that.

Investinmyself · 06/04/2024 16:26

Congratulations @CiderJabs and welcome @AppleCherryBlossom.

MelissaLouRocks · 06/04/2024 16:33

I just saw a fabulous non scale goal mentioned on a Facebook group....

When you can drain the bath without having to lift your arse cheek! 😂

Shearebel · 06/04/2024 14:44

Hi everyone - I've been on Ozempic/Wegovy for a year, starting weight 15st7lbs and current weight 10st6lbs. My goal weight is 9 stone but I feel like my loss has plateaued now with Wegovy on the 2.4mg dose. Has anyone switched to MJ and overcome this?

I have seen people doing that on the Zepbound/MJ forums on Reddit.

ObsidianTree · 06/04/2024 16:43

Congratulations @CiderJabs! Such great news :)

OP posts:
Soukmyfalafel · 06/04/2024 16:43

I think mine is probably being able to sit down without my bra wiring digging uncomfortably into the flab at the top of my ribcage. I hate it so much and it was one of the reasons that spurred me on. And having to unbutton jeans when I sit down.

I'm not someone who has ever been that comfortable in a bikini, even when I was small. I like being covered up and love a swim dress, so I think I will always go for covered up swimwear. I had a friend who was 5st overweight and ended up entering one of those bikini competitions to celebrate her weight loss. She looked amazing (it's a story that spurs me on), but even if I had her figure I couldn't get up on a stage like that. She said she'd never do it again though, but was glad she did it.

Cantonet · 06/04/2024 17:16

Can anyone tell me the amount left in the 2.5 mg pen that you can use for a fifth dose? Has anyone measured this?
I haven't used any to prime & I've just managed to stab myself 5 × in order to use this final amount. But I can't find any information anywhere as to how much this extra amount is? It feels like more than the 2.5 mg dose.

blahwork · 06/04/2024 17:25

I started to doubt myself that there was any liquid in the pen - you can't see it? There was a droplet on needle though.

I haven't caught up with all your stories but I will as soon as possible Grin

WannabeHealthier · 06/04/2024 17:34

Congratulations on your engagement @CiderJabs that’s a great motivator and will keep you on track!

FlappyFish · 06/04/2024 17:34

@Cantonet it was this, plus a small amount in another needle.

I've just done my 2.5mg plus the extra dose by force twisting but it got stuck and would not budge while there was still more in the pen.

I got an insulin needle and pulled the rest out but I have to say I really didn't like that part and I don't think I'll do it again.

I'm currently freaking out that I've injected myself with air or gone into a muscle or whatever else could go wrong!

Hope everyone else has better luck with the extra dose!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 06/04/2024 17:42

Wow @FlappyFish that's a huge change in your photos.
Can I ask how you managed to lose so much on your arms? Did a lot just come off with general weight loss or did you have to do a lot of exercise?
I'd love to have arms that I dare bare in public but they're huge!

Cantonet · 06/04/2024 17:43

Thank you @FlappyFish.
Is that just over 0.5 MLS then?
Did you prime the pen at all?
So I'm assuming that's slightly less than the 2.5 mg dose?
Sorry for all the questions☺️
It's just there absolutely no information officially in how much extra liquid is in the pen. Plus, I had a similar reaction to my first dose ie. Instant upset tummy. Which I didn't have with the other doses.

OMG, are you me? I joined Voy yesterday, first dose arrived this morning and is stashed in my fridge behind the jars ready for tomorrow night.
WRT Voy, I got to choose my coach today but there was a choice of only 2 and the "welcome" coaching session earliest date I could get was 3rd May, so that is disappointing as I joined Voy and paid extra hoping to get a bit of a backup team for responsibility.

I wanted to ask about how to stop as well!

I am really nervous, I have lipedema in my legs and have struggled with my weight since puberty, but it's all got out of control in the last 3 years with menopause and I am now at BMI of 38.

I am worried about the side effects of the meds, but I am also so worried about the side effects of carrying this extra 5 stone. I used to go swimming and jogging and now I can only amble round the park for half an hour with the dog.

BanditsBiscuits · 06/04/2024 17:51

Amazing loss @FlappyFish well done you. 👏

FlappyFish · 06/04/2024 17:52

As I get closer to goal to goal I will post more. I’m 5’7 and I carry weight well in that respect. My arms are still quite big. I think I had age on my side. Exercise at present is non-existent. I need to build it in, but I work odd hours.

. @Cantonet. These are the rest of the photos from when I did it. I think it worked out just over one dose. I’ve hidden them just because it’s needles. Whilst it is all over the Reddit threads it’s not official. As it’s a subcutaneous injection the needle is far too long so it has to be injected at an angle. I’ve only done it the once so far to use up my 2.5 pen. Each injection is 0.6 and there is definitely more than that left. I did prime it properly each time too.

@Cantonet I think I've read previously that the 2.5mg dose is 0.6ml. I've just done the extra dose but feel like I messed it up as written in my previous post 🤦‍♀️

stomachamelon · 06/04/2024 18:01

@VoyOySaveloy it's easy to stop. On your account it will state what you have ordered and when your next delivery is. I just cancelled it (they did ask why) and then have ordered 5mg from medexpress with a code. I am just waiting for them to ask me for my evidence of taking 2.5mg but I have time.

Well done on your first step :) have found this page so helpful!

I got 0.7 mg out of the 2.5mg pen in total.
