Welcome to thread 4!

Pointers for newbies:
1 - For taking your first dose you need to twist the pen a lot to get to 1!

2 - Your first dose may not have an immediate effect. For some people the effects build slowly. It could take 3 or 4 days to notice anything, it could take a few weeks. Some people don't feel the meds working until they get to 5mg. See titration chart which shows how the medication builds up in your system.

3 - 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose, meaning you aren’t meant to lose on 2.5mg. You need to start on 2.5mg to get your body used to the drug and gradually introduce it into your system and get used to any side effects.

4 - Not everyone loses a lot in the first few weeks. Don't feel discouraged if you don't lose a lot initially. Again, you might need a higher dose to start losing. Also, inches can be lost without anything showing on the scales. Start your journey by taking measurements and check them as you go along.

5 - If you do lose a lot in the first few weeks, please don't assume you will continue losing at this rate. The first few weeks it is usually water weight that is lost, after than a good weight loss is about 2lbs a week. Some weeks you might not lose anything, but this is ok too…again, taking measurements might show inches lost instead.

6 - Constipation, coldness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, aches, are side effects. There may be be other side effects also. Read info here :
www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.14201.pdf

7 - Once you take your first dose you can choose to keep your pen in the fridge or somewhere else. It's up to you.

8 - Don't reuse any needles as this could risk infection. If you damage a needle or one isn't working, you can buy a pack of about 100 spares. Ask for suggestions of sites /types to buy.

9 - Protein is important as eating less protein can cause muscle wastage and hair loss. Try to have at least 100g a day. There are protein supplements you can take. Myprotein have a good range. Ask for a referral code if you want to buy some.

10 - Some natural sources of protein:
www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/best-sources-protein
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321522#high-protein-foods

11 - You can use supplements, some that people use are magnesium(for sleep and constipation), protein(to reduce muscle wastage), collagen (skin elasticity), aloe vera(for constipation), electrolytes.

12 - Drink lota of water. Water helps with the weight loss. Drink at least 2ltrs a day. Preferably 3ltrs.

13 - Don't be afraid to feel hungry. It is entirely normal and healthy to feel hungry. Just eat something. Treat it as an opportunity to start good habits around hunger. Eat a nice balanced snack or a meal if it's a meal time. It's ok.

14 - Some of the places you can order from are:
MedExpress £149.99 - Sometimes there are codes that can be used for a discount. Ask for a code on here or do a Google search to try and find one.
Voy - £114.99 for first month then £229 after. Need a referral code (ask on here for one if needed)
The Family Chemist -£149
Simple online pharmacy - £159 2.5mg £179 for 5mg
Asda £184
Boots £219

15 - Does it makes any difference where you inject? yes it does! Drugs get absorbed at different rates depending on injection site

In order of fastest absorption, it goes:
• Tummy
• Arms
• Thighs
further reading about injection sites and the effects: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/316618

16 - You can track your calories / protein on apps such as My fitnessPal, Carb Manager or Nutracheck. Nutracheck is quite useful and easy to find foods /build recipes.

17 - If you want to switch suppliers, make sure you have pics of your Mounjaro box with your name and dose. This will come in useful when other suppliers ask for evidence.

@AgathaMystery what a great feeling that must have been. Well done!

Insanely good. Also I have plateaued for a week which I know is normal - & i'm not on a therapeutic dose yet.

I just wanted to let others know that there is change, no matter how small! Keep going, it will be worth it.

It's my birthday today and I will have eaten 2489 calories by the end of today (I probably could have stopped halfway through my dinner but I had already counted it and based on my previous deficit it shouldn't cause any gains)
But on a different note I was down 2.2lbs this morning and I've had less nausea since my 3rd injection yesterday morning than the first two

Yes this in me, I also do the same if someone says ooo you have lost weight. I think oh I have cracked this let's have a family bag of crisps to celebrate.

I am second jab day today and haven't weighed myself for this reason as it messes with my head with rewarding etc.

I was just making a glass of collagen powder drink and realised there is a scoop in the tub! I did wonder if there was one in there, but I've shaken it up and scooped around before and couldn't find it! Typical!

Sorry, I feel like by reporting that user that I’ve made people feel bad for sharing Voy codes/using Voy which wasn’t my intention at all!

Personally I think if you’re joining in the general conversation and clearly a genuine part of this wonderful community then it’s absolutely fair enough to share your code.

By comparison, the poster I reported was clearly only advertising as they didn’t post anything else, ever. Just a “hey, I’ve started taking mounjaro and I’m 11lbs down with no side effects. Here’s my code for 50% off!”

Hope that explains why I reported that one poster in particular. I would never report someone who was clearly genuine and I’m sure MN wouldn’t act either if someone did. Hope that makes sense? If we can keep these types of posters away then hopefully some of the genuine posters here will see the benefits of their codes being used rather than an imposter’s! ☺️

I've posted my voy code because I discretely used a code someone posted in previous thread and it's nice to get a little off the cost. Someone has also kindly and discretely used a code I have posted, great that someone else is benefiting. I am in no way promoting Voy as a provider as it is up to us as individuals to research the providers and decide for ourselves.
Through reading all the posts where other providers and discount codes have been mentioned, a lot more than Voy may I add!, provided me with the knowledge of other Mounjaro buying options for me to decide for myself who to use and what I can afford. Anyone who has a Voy discount code has to have ordered from them, so I guess they are on this journey too! like myself maybe enjoy the experiences/knowledge etc provided by other posts but not necessarily getting greatly involved in the conversations, everyone is different and deal with things differently.

Surely if the discount codes don't interest you, can you not politely scroll past them as they may be of interest to others.

I take no offence to other codes being posted and scroll past if not relevant, but the information, knowledge and experiences of others I find very valuable. I am on the Mounjaro journey and would like to carry on reading the posts in a non judgmental way, tolerance for other people's posts is surely the best way to be involved unless posts are offensive or blatantly off thread.

NNSingers · 10/04/2024 18:17

Thanks everyone for your messages of support and to keep going! I will absolutely not be stopping this journey as I know it will work, it just might be slower than I'd hoped. Still time for me to get to where I want to be before my holiday! I don't fancy going into the sea in my cover up again this year....yes, I was far too embarrassed to remove it last year unless I was lying completely flat on the sun lounger!
I definitely need to up my protein intake, it's tailed off over the last few days!

Thebaldprimadonna · 10/04/2024 18:17

ObsidianTree · 10/04/2024 08:09

Oh right? So you think it's people that work for Voy trying to sell their product? I didn't realise that could happen! Lol

Yes, it's all over t'internet and political parties do it too.

Regarding the Facebook group... I know a lot of us want to remain anonymous, so if you want to join Facebook but keep your anonymity, feel free to! For example, my Facebook profile is a spare one I use to stay anonymous on Facebook!

I deactivated my Facebook a few years ago.
Will I need a different email address to use if I create a new one?

It seems to send suggestions of
friends based on mobile number you use and who's in your contacts which I don't like!

Soukmyfalafel · 10/04/2024 18:25

Ugh, I'm having a bit of a crap day sticking to things today. Had a 400 cal snack and a small glass of wine, but feel full from it. I will probably eat a very tiny dinner.

This weather is shocking. It is really hard to stay motivated and exercise. I normally walk in the evenings as they get lighter (still do in the winter if its not raining), but the prospect of getting wet and windswept puts me off. I don't have a great deal of motivation to do any cleaning even. My son is also driving me nuts with his vocal stimming. Just don't have the headspace for dieting today.

I'm probably going to go over the 1200 cals today, but I do feel I need a break.

I'm going to start my 5mg jab tonight. I'm down 12/13lbs in 4 weeks. I'm happy with that. About 18lb to go for me. I think I will probably need to be on this for another 3 months realistically.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 10/04/2024 18:26

@OneLovingRedCrab No one minds people posting discount codes at all. But there was someone who was a blatant and very obvious spam account, posting codes on multiple threads with the same message. It's a bit of a red flag.

@dmott Happy birthday!!!

CiderJabs · 10/04/2024 18:42

I've had a tough day despite being on holiday. Have a persistent headache and felt queasy for the whole day. And I'm also on my period which is not helping. Had an ok dinner but feel like I could be sick 🤢

I'll pass on joining fb. I only have the one profile and I don't want to risk friends seeing it. Hope everyone will continue here as well.

Effitall · 10/04/2024 18:45

Hi everyone,

Have been reading through the threads and have placed an order pending approval.

Took the photo to send in, that was particularly depressing.

Now making a list of things to buy in preparation for any side effects.

That's a fair comment but some of the posts complaining did not make that clear Smile

Happy birthday @dmott 🥳

Femeia · 10/04/2024 19:35

Happy birthday @dmott!

I am currently fuming at Medexpress. They turned down my request for a second 5mg pen as my previous 5mg prescription was 2 days over the limit, as I had ordered it early.
I would have considered sending in more details but they completely infuriated me by saying they were not returning my money and instead would give me a credit against my next purchase. Errr no way. So I have asked for my money to be refunded as I don't intend to order either them (as I can see Bolt will be stocking 7.5mg before my 5mg runs out). Grrrrrr AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

On the plus side two people came up to me separately in work to say they had noticed my weight loss Grin

ObsidianTree · 10/04/2024 19:39

That's great that Bolt will give you 7.5mg @Femeia

Can't believe how strict MedExpress is!

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 10/04/2024 19:41

Just had a look at Bolt and noticed their 2.5mg was now £125! I guess they have a lot of 2.5mg stock they need to get rid of!

I thought it was supposed to reduce appetite? I haven't started it yet, but I thought it reduces appetite so that you eat less calories? Does it not always work like that for everyone?

Pops1985 · 10/04/2024 19:43

Hi all, I’m starting my journey and I had a question about packaging. I have ordered from Medexpress and it’s coming tomorrow but typically it’s my office day. I was reading online that if the medicine gets to room temp then it’s only good for 21 days. I was hoping to start on Monday but worried that the last dose won’t be effective. Maybe overthinking but it’s so annoying I won’t be home for quite a few hours after the postman has left it. Thanks!

It reduces appetite there is still will power required. We don’t always eat because we are hungry.
I could definitely push it and still eat if I wanted to. Obviously it was this poster’s birthday so they have eaten more than usual.
It’s a balance though as you may get symptoms if you eat too much or too rich.
What it has taken away is than hangry I need to eat now.
I’ve had some eggs and a bagel and a protein bar so far today and will have dinner soon. If I’d been out to lunch I could have eaten it but wasn’t seeking out food.

The guidance for the US one and ours is different.
The ones we get can do 30 days out of the fridge and that can be cumulative, so I wouldn't stress about it.

Wow @Femeia denying you another pen is one thing but to try and palm you off with a credit note goes beyond the pale!!
