I’ve ordered from two places and both have asked me to tick that I understand that barrier protection needs to be used with the pill. So no one should be unaware of this even if it’s not on the packaging.

@Wonkypictureframe

Oh good, glad to know they are making people aware, although there do seem to be some that aren't so not sure all pharmacies are doing this. I can't remember if mine did as didn't apply to me anyway.

FlappyFish · 04/04/2024 09:15

@Mortigua I always wake once in the night. It doesn’t help, does it? I have found since being on MJ I fall asleep much quicker though. It’s not just shut up the food noise it has also parked the night time list of doom. Also, as I’m eating so much less I think my body just wants time to recuperate.

Day 7 for me today, and 2nd injection day! I'm so excited to do it later - is that weird?

I just weighed and I've lost more than I expected to this week (although I have a lot to lose!)

SW: 18st 11lbs
CW: 18st 4lbs
Week 1 loss: 7lbs

I am very happy - this is the first time I've lost weight in so long. Expecting a much slower rate of loss this next week.

Amazing start, well done.

Awful heartburn this morning. Not sure if it's the midnight McDonald's milkshake (DS1 was being taxi service for DS2 and they stopped on the way home!) or the ibuprofen I took for period pain this morning. Either way, it's not something I usually get so finding it very annoying. Taken a PPI as I already had some, but really need an antacid I think.
Avoiding my usual black coffee and drinking milky tea instead.

Mortigua · 04/04/2024 09:44

@FlappyFish yes getting to sleep is no problem here either ! And maybe I should just get up when I wake up as I wake up feeling ok really just can’t sleep ! Definitely feeling tired from less calories . I am managing to up exercise a bit though which is probably adding to it. I just wish the scales would represent the work I’m putting in!
The heartburn is awful isn’t it! I find if I eat too close to bed time I have to eat sitting up !

@RagzRebooted

I've become a bit prone to heartburn in the last couple of years and Mounjaro does set it off for me! Have been making sure there's Gaviscon in the house. Other thing that helps me is salty Italian-style crackers, like the Jacobs Mediterranean ones, they seem to calm that and nausea somewhat.

Mortigua · 04/04/2024 09:46

That should have said sleep sitting up of course - I always eat sitting up 😂

plinter · 04/04/2024 09:50

I've noticed my first NSV this morning- my skin is looking great. I do look after my skin, and am religious with my morning and night routine, so it is in pretty good condition anyway, but is better than usual.
I'm putting it down to the amount of water I am drinking. I have definitely had dry mouth, but it hasn't bothered me because it makes me drink more water. I normally have sparkling water (I'm pretty sure I've been addicted to fizzy drinks since I was a kid, I used to have a Diet Coke addiction but went cold turkey about 5 years ago) but I can't stomach anything fizzy since my injection.
For those struggling with sleep I recommend magnesium. I take a perimenopause supplement that has magnesium in it and my sleep is so much better.

BourbonD · 04/04/2024 09:52

Really struggling with restless legs, it’s keeping me awake and I’m now exhausted! Anyone else had this? Not sure what to do about it.

PlumDeer · 04/04/2024 09:59

Here is a referral code for Medexpress, worth £5 for anyone to use. 54GQB6
I started on Wegovy but didn’t feel that it suited me, my constipation was terrible 😩. Now on my 2nd month of 2.5 Mounjaro and feeling good, total weight loss of 10lbs which I’m very pleased with and it has come off gradually.

Rainbowl · 04/04/2024 10:07

Day 7 for me. Due to take second dose this evening.

Weighed in this morning and I’ve lost 7.4lbs since this time last week. Really delighted with that. I was eating absolute rubbish right up until the evening I took my injection and I’ve got a lot of weight to lose, so a big first week loss is probably easier for me than some.

SW: 16st 11.2lb (BMI 40.2)
CW: 16st 3.8lb (BMI 38.9)
TW: 10st (BMI 23.9)

Hoping to be in the next stone bracket next week.

We appear to be MJ twins @JanetSnakeholeMacklin well done for your loss!

wizzywig · 04/04/2024 10:43

Day 1, week 1 of 5mg. No weight loss last week. When will the appetite suppression happen?!

Topical magnesium. A spray or lotion, I usually recommend BetterYou brand available on Amazon.
Make sure you're getting enough electrolytes.

Hopefully you'll notice some in the next few days, but some people don't get it until higher doses. It varies so much. 5mg is the lowest therapeutic dose.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 04/04/2024 12:06

@BourbonD I'm suffering with restless legs too. Feels like when I was pregnant - absolutely knackered, low energy and terrible restless legs.
I bought magnesium spray a few months ago but can't use it as it makes my skin feel like it's on fire.

I get my DP to karate chop my thighs or pummel them with clenched fists - it's the only thing that helps 😄. I get it worst in late evenings when I'm on the sofa.

You have done amazing on your first week. I am same weight as you and waiting for my MJ to arrive.

guestusername · 04/04/2024 12:24

I’ve had my dispatch email 😀

April88 · 04/04/2024 12:36

Anyone had a pen delivered not cold?

Medexpress sent it Tuesday, so it should have been delivered yesterday but only arrived today and the ice had melted. I’ve messaged medexpress to see what they say, as I believe it can only be out the fridge for 21 days and I wasn’t planning on using it for a couple more weeks (still have a 5mg half used).

RagzRebooted · 04/04/2024 12:50

@PissedOffNeighbour22 apparently that effect is stronger the more you need it and wears off once you've used it a while, though I find the lotion isn't as stingy as spray.

ShalommJackie · 04/04/2024 12:57

Had my 1st injection this morning. I'm impressed at how little it hurts!

Wonkypictureframe · 04/04/2024 13:03

My MedExpress order arrived today, just over 24 hours after I put the initial request in for 5mg. It’s got needles and swabs and was properly refrigerated. They’ve also sent a sharps box so I now have two!

Investinmyself · 04/04/2024 13:11

I took my 4th 2.5mg dose and the ‘bonus’ dose I extracted yesterday and I can feel it. No appetite, feel slightly nauseous and slight headache. I’ve had a protein yogurt so far and water.
7.5 lb off in 3 weeks. My bmi is overweight now.
Interesting about how long will prescribe for. I’m aiming for top end healthy bmi and then will see.
As someone who has previously pushed weight loss to a low bmi I’d caution about aiming for too low bmi as maintaining is impossible in my experience. I think for most people it’s recommended to sit around bmi 22/23 from a health point of view but certain ethnic backgrounds are different.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 04/04/2024 13:35

What about increasing the time between doses? I had a big work meeting the day of my injection so I decided to do it the next day incase of bowel issues. I’m 2 days “late” and still not got an appetite. This would be my 3rd 5mg dose.

I think I should wait til my appetite comes back a bit like it did in 2.5

NCfor24 · 04/04/2024 13:35

So I'm due my last 2.5mg dose tomorrow. Felt hungry and ate quite a bit yday I think (not compared to pre MJ, but compared to last couple of weeks). Managed to not eat this morning, and just had lunch at 1.30pm but feel hungrier now I've eaten than I did before.
I'm thinking I should take my dose a day early but not sure whether to just go for the 5mg using the extra in the pen or space it out so I get another 2.5mg in a few days before starting 5mg end of next week.
I've not really lost much so far...unofficial weigh in has me at about 5lbs loss over 3.5 weeks. I suspect I'm someone who needs 5mg!
Have people generally double dosed for week 4 of 2.5mg??

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 04/04/2024 13:36

I've ordered my 5mg pen and it's on the way! Woo!

Re: restless legs. I always get them on the sofa in the evenings - that usually is my cue to go to bed. By the time I've got ready for bed and washed my face and all that, they've usually passed. I'm hoping the vitamins and magnesium will help with that too.
