Channel 4 documentary on miracle weight loss jabs this evening… raising concerns about pharmacies and black market. Haven’t watched it myself but seems to be critical stance. 1 hour long!

Edited

Actually I’ve just realised this is a repeat of the documentary from last year so I’ve already seen it. Not new and doesn’t cover Mounjaro. It focuses on the black market (Facebook sellers).

FlappyFish · 03/04/2024 23:26

@BlackFriYay they look the same as mine and I paid about that. I also had to get 50 of them. 😂

PrimalLass · 03/04/2024 23:44

Thank you @RunningAndSinging Flowers

Wisheverydaywasfriday · 03/04/2024 23:53

That’s really awful timing for you, @lurkylurk . Very frustrating, hopefully bigger losses to come. I’m hoping too that as the weeks pass and the more doses in our system, there might be more longevity. Btw. You sound like a fabulous hostess 😄

MelissaLouRocks · 04/04/2024 00:15

For anyone buying syringes on Amazon please be careful. The ones I have mentioned below are safe, actually come from a medical company and are sterile. Many are simply used to measure for lab work and are not safe to use.

I have to use other needles for another condition I have (not diabetes). Please never be tempted to use a needle twice, that way lies infection and possible cellulitis, which for me comes with a hospital stay and IV antibiotics!

Forgot to add, these are only £6 for 20.

My friends do tend to invite themselves round for dinner, or even to stay! 😂

I asked Asda if they'd continue to prescribe to a healthy BMI and if they'd prescribe once in a healthy BMI for maintenance and got this reply.
Basically, no to the maintenance thing.

I can only think that by this stage - in a year or so, either more will be known about mounjaro and there will be prescribers who will give maintenance doses (or our GPs will be able to prescribe some day maybe?)

Although I am aiming to absolutely overhaul how I eat over the next year so hopefully maintenance doses won't be needed.

@JanetSnakeholeMacklin I guess the question then becomes what is a healthy BMI? Hitting 25? Mid range? 20? The healthy BMI for me is this. That’s a huge difference 😂(I know you don’t know the answers, just tagging you as you’d asked Asda who I also use).

2nd 2.5mg dose taken today. 2.2lb off. Slightly disappointing, I wanted to be one of those that lose lbs and lbs in the first week. But a loss is a loss. The last 2 days I've been hungrier, but not snacked. Looks like I'll be a slow and steady loser, which is ok. Better than a slow and steady gainer 😀

SS 12.66
CW 12.44
GW 10.00
I'm only 5'3, so 10 is a reasonable target.

FlappyFish · 04/04/2024 08:13

I agree slow and steady is better. I say that, but my weight loss isn’t slowing and I would rather it did really as my boobs will be non-existent. 😂

Weekly weigh in. Injection 8 tomorrow. I need to go back and work out the weekly losses but think that’s another 3 this week.

SW: 14.1
CW 12.4

The daily tracking is helping me now as I can see the patterns. I will stay then same weight for 4 days then drop 2. Then do that and stay then drop another. Can’t poo this morning and it will go up two pounds. Then whooosh back down. TOTM is properly due now too.

I used to get so upset at hormonal weight gain and think fuck it. Now I’m just nodding going fine. Can’t go to the toilet and water weight. It will go down. It always goes down as I am not emotionally eating anymore.

Choux · 04/04/2024 08:18

For those wanting to move up to 7.5mg, click2pharmacy's website now says they will be sending out 7.5mg pens w/c 22nd April. Previously they only said early April so presumably this means the date is now firmed up and other suppliers may also get deliveries at the same time.

I was starting to worry I would be cut off soon, but looking at the NHS BMI calculator I realise that as I have a mixed heritage the NHS would count me as as obese from BMI 27.5 + and over weight BMI 23 to 27.5! My healthy BMI is 18.5 to 23.

I did some calculations and to put me at the lowest healthy rate I would be need to be under 9 stone! At 5 foot 8! My dream of dreams weight would be 10st! So I am hopeful I won't be cut off the meds at my goal weight!

I think it's unlikely that anyone that started at the beginning will be able to get 7.5mg straight after their first 5mg pen now. Hopefully that stock does come then and the stock is plentiful!

The nausea has gone this morning thankfully.

FlappyFish · 04/04/2024 08:35

@ObsidianTree that makes sense. I don’t think I’ve been 8 stone something since I was 12. I didn’t know it was adjusted for heritage. I’ve learned something new today and it’s only 8:30am. 🥳

The last few days I have actually felt like exercising. What it is weirdness? My exercise is walking at the most. I’m finding I want to move my body. Combination of not having massive boobs and the lighter nights?

I did go to the gym before and loved the cross trainer. But that was a long time ago and the idea of forking out money I’m not sure on. Maybe I should look at something like fencing or something? 😂

What is happening to me. Too funny.

FlappyFish · 04/04/2024 08:35

Glad you feel better today, @dmott

ObsidianTree · 04/04/2024 08:39

I think it's a new thing on BMI. As I've not seen it before when I used the NHS app when I was on Keto a few years ago.

I know what you mean about exercising. I am contemplating joining a gym! But my usual track record isn't great with gyms and actually going... So will wait and see a bit longer before joining! Maybe if I feel like I have too much energy!

That page actually has quite useful information stated concisely. There were a couple of people on here that noticed their resting heart rate had risen and that side effect is covered on there.

It also states that if you're on the pill and taking Mounjaro you also need a barrier form of contraception (because it affects absorption). That warning does come on the Wegovy packaging but not on Mounjaro, although the same reason still exists!

Mortigua · 04/04/2024 08:45

Second 5mg dose done here and had a rough day yesterday feeling very sick and tired but not much appetite suppression. Today seems better so far. Weight loss has stalled again but I’m keeping going with tracking and trying to move more . I wish I had this extra energy ! It may be because I am not sleeping well though, I keep waking up in the night.

@ObsidianTree
They have a lower healthy BMI for people of Black and Asian descent as the diabetes risk is apparently higher. The NHS page that details the research was published 2022 so may have been brought in in the last few years.

I ordered before I went to sleep last night so I’ll be joining you! I booked a holiday back in August and I’ve gained about a stone since then. I’ve tried calorie counting, low carb, 5/2, intermittent fasting and Fast 800 since, as well as WW and SW previously and nothing has worked. I’ve even joined the gym! I’m convinced now that being fully post menopausal is the cause so I need a helping hand. My main reason for wanting to do this is for my health first and foremost but my holiday is looming ever closer! Have ordered from Medexpress (with the discount code, thank you!) and have uploaded my photo and ID this morning so fingers crossed it arrives soon 🤞

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 04/04/2024 08:58

Day 7 for me today, and 2nd injection day! I'm so excited to do it later - is that weird?

I just weighed and I've lost more than I expected to this week (although I have a lot to lose!)

SW: 18st 11lbs
CW: 18st 4lbs
Week 1 loss: 7lbs

I am very happy - this is the first time I've lost weight in so long. Expecting a much slower rate of loss this next week.

I’ve ordered from two places and both have asked me to tick that I understand that barrier protection needs to be used with the pill. So no one should be unaware of this even if it’s not on the packaging.
