Hi All,

Took my first dose this morning as I didn't want to suffer any possible side effects over Easter holidays. So far apart from a slight headache which may just be from my sinuses as I do suffer from that, no side effects but early days. Currently having a protein shake for lunch as not feeling particularly hungry just a bit peckish.

@stomachamelon regarding Voy coaching I had the same experience, selected a coach and then there didn't seem to be any appointments. I checked back each day and some appeared. Had my first chat via video call last week and she was very nice and supportive and gave me some ideas of initial goals but keen not to push for too much. From now on it is just weekly check ins via whatsapp messages, but I don't need to respond.

For anyone thinking of going with Voy below is a 50% off link that makes first order £114.50 as some others have mentioned.

@ObsidianTree
I feel the same about protein at the moment too. I'm aiming for 100g a day but honestly it's hard going. It doesn't help that I'm vegetarian.
I also don't like eggs and have gone off cheese since these jabs. I've just made a lentil and bean chilli which is quite protein rich
And I have two huge flasks of the protein water every day as I really like it and its an easy 40g.

I've also just tried the UFIT protein shake which is actually pretty good. I got the 50g one. I think going forward I'll have a shake for breakfast, my drinks and then not overthink the protein element of whatever I eat.

Does anyone not store their pen in the fridge?

My 1st pen arrived today (have taken the 1st dose) and after the instructions it said can be stored at room temperature once use.

I don’t really want my husband knowing at the moment so have put it in my knicker drawer 😂

Mine is in a make up bag, squirrelled away amongst a hundred other make up bags containing all my skincare/make up. If my DH finds it he's going to have to explain why he was rummaging amongst all my mascaras and lipsticks!

NC543210 · 03/04/2024 14:01

Also if you buy the ufit 50g shakes directly from them
They apply a 25% discount if you order 3 crates (24 bottles)
And a £7 discount for first orders.
So for £38 I got 24 bottles. They're usually about £2.50-£3.00 when you buy them on their own so a decent saving.

It’s fine at room temp but mine in wrapped in kitchen roll in salad drawer he never ventures in there!

@NC543210 definitely finding it hard today to get in the protein. Made a egg mayo sandwich for lunch with 2 large eggs. Could only manage half. Didn't want to force myself to finish it as I feel that defeats the purpose!

I get what you mean about eggs. I enjoy them maybe once or twice a week, but couldn't stomach them everyday.

I think I'll continue to have as much protein as I can manage but won't try and force myself to eat to try and get in the protein amount I need.

Interesting about people with auto immune reporting positive benefits not just weight loss I’m in that camp too.
The pregnancies reported in USA also seem to be people with pcos etc finding the drug is helping them conceive.
Weight-loss is far more complicated than count your cals/exercise. For lots of us on here there’s clearly something going on with our bodies that has been hindering weight loss.

3rd jab today
A loss of 2lbs and an inch from boobs, belly and bum! 🥳
I'm more than happy with that, have been more snacky than previously but still within my calories
I've just ordered the 5mg dose

chesterlestreet · 03/04/2024 14:36

How do you balance eating enough protein with stopping eating when you are full? I'm definitely not having the recommended amount of protein despite only having salad or fruit in addition. I am continuing to eat protein even when I am full as worried about losing what little muscle I have

sassygirlx · 03/04/2024 14:36

Has anyone managed to get their discount from Voy for referring others?

If so, did it happen automatically?

kdmott · 03/04/2024 14:40

I had my second dose of 2.5 yesterday and I feel awful sick today. I'm coming down with a cold/sore throat and that mixed with a bunch of nausea and tiredness has really knocked me for six.

Anyone else experiencing nausea?

chesterlestreet · 03/04/2024 14:41

@ObsidianTree sorry to duplicate see you've already asked the protein question

This is what I'm struggling with. I'm losing weight because I'm eating less. But if I am forcing myself to eat more to get protein in, then will I lose weight!

I suppose to get the balance right I would need to stop eating carbs and just stick to protein and veg

Wednesday is weigh day for me.
HW: 12.10
SW: 12
Today's weight: 11.8

Happy with that, was away for Easter and definitely ate and drank less than I would've before but also went for it a bit harder than I planned!

My additional needles turned up this morning and I did the brute force twist to get the elusive 5th dose out of my 2.5mg pen (took the 4th dose yesterday as usual, would've taken this at the same time but took heed of the great advice upthread not to reuse needles) It was really easy, it resisted but even my weak AF wrists managed it OK.

I switched from Bolt to MedExpress to order the 5mg just yesterday (apologies for my many posts about it Blush) and it's coming this afternoon apparently, very impressive and no doubt sped up by the great advice here to submit proof of my 2.5mg pen from Bolt via the contact form. I will be starting the new pen next Tuesday.

Thanks for the advice on here ladies, such a supportive and helpful bunch.

Investinmyself · 03/04/2024 15:03

I’m prioritising eating protein & fruit and veg.
My typical menu is skyr yoghurt breakfast/berries with oats or granola. Lunch homemade soup - 33g protein and dinner protein and veg. Fish is great - not heavy but high protein. I sometimes have an Aldi protein mousse 20g. I do find tracking via nutracheck helps - I have it set to cals and protein. The Aldi lamb shank I had with veg one night was 72g protein. A latte is 10g with semi skimmed milk.

ObsidianTree · 03/04/2024 15:12

Thanks @Investinmyself I didn't know a latte had 10g protein! I will have to drink more of them! 😜

I am maybe having more protein than I realise. Will use nutracheck to make sure I'm counting properly

Just worked out I go away in 16 weeks. I have 2.5st to lose. 2.18lb a week.

Does that sound doable?

I think it depends on how much weight you've got to lose and how hard you want to go. I'm eating between 1200-1600 a day and I burn off approx 3200-3500 a day (I'm very heavy).

I'm trying to do more cardio exercise too which is helping. Officially from 5 weeks after starting I had lost 23lbs but I would need to lose almost 7 stone (from start weight) to not be obese 😣

ILostMyself · 03/04/2024 16:18

Just checking in as I’ve been lurking for a while but haven’t posted since the start. My experience is that I found the first month on 2.5mg I had a slight reduction in appetite but only a little and I did have to use a lot of willpower still. I haven’t had any negative side effects though (wegovy made me feel sick sometimes).

I’ve just taken my second 5mg dose and the last week there has been a huge difference. I’ve barely had any appetite at all and have actually had to force myself to eat. It worries me a little as it’s so unnatural to feel like that and I don’t want to live like this forever! But it’s definitely doing what it is supposed to for me and I’m just focusing on getting to a healthy weight and trying to eat lots of protein/veg etc. I don’t want to actively undereat and have too low calories so I do force myself to eat a healthy amount. If it carries on like this I don’t think I would go up to 7.5mg as it seems to be working just fine at 5.

Still no negative side effects and actually feel pretty great (apart from having a cough the past few weeks!!).

Well done to everyone on your weight loss successes 👏

Soukmyfalafel · 03/04/2024 16:21

kdmott I am at the minute, but nothing compared to pregnancy nausea. I seem to be doing OK protein wise according to my app, but I might just be calculating it wrong - where do you work our how much is needed during weight loss? I am not eating many carbs and feel quite lethargic for it, but I am prioritising protein and don't have enough cals to do both. As soon as I up the carbs, I can't stay with 1200 cals (I'm short).

Wisheverydaywasfriday · 03/04/2024 16:59

Day 6 today on 2.5m and the appetite suppression sorcery has run its course! Definitely hungrier today and the snack cravings have re-emerged. Can’t wait for next jab on Friday, as having to employ will power again. Such a switch; a few days ago I couldn’t visualise having to go up to 5, as had v little appetite.

shrinkingbee · 03/04/2024 17:17

My next pen was due to be delivered yesterday. I have got some solution left in my last pen, does anyone have any links to where I could purchase the needle from so I can use this until the new pen arrives?

1 month and 1 stone down - I really don't want a break! Smile

Striving4Better · 03/04/2024 17:30

@TheOverweightFortySomething re: alcohol wipes.

After I've used a wipe on my belly, I use it to clean my glasses and the screen of my phone. It's a bit wetter than a regular lens wipe, so I buff with a tissue afterwards. My glasses and phone have never been so clean!

If you get asked, you could say you saw a tip on MN that it's a cheaper way to get a lens/glass cleaner. That's not wrong either, I think it cost me £3.99 for a box of 100.

(I'm actually on Wegovy, but read this thread too!)

stomachamelon · 03/04/2024 17:32

Ok two idiot questions...
How do you work out how much protein you need?

Are people just ordering the next 5mg pen as soon as they start the first 2.5mg pen? Or do I wait a couple of weeks?

Sorry for the beginner questions.

Once again if anyone wants a 50% off code for voy give me a shout.
