Thanks, @ObsidianTree

Tha's a good idea. I haven't figured out how I'll pay for this, but, really, it's working so well and it's about £6 a day which is not a huge amount of money - I'd easily spend that on lunch on work days.

It blows my mind that thin people must live like this all the time. Just not interested in stuffing their faces. It's mind blowing.

Same re the mind blown ! I have just had a reasonably large lunch as we went to see family and I thought oh I won’t need anything else to eat now , I’ll be full all day. Before I’d always have eaten whether I was hungry or not , it wouldn’t have really been about whether I was full , more was it the time to eat . Also I genuinely think I would have felt hungry a few hours later big meal or not . But I’ve heard friends (and in fact my DH) say things like they won’t need to eat later as they’ve had a big lunch earlier and thought what ?!! in the past.

Mortigua · 31/03/2024 18:05

Re drinking . I had a drink two days after the jab and it felt too soon , I felt quite rough next day and the drink just didn’t taste the same . Now at 5 days post jab i feel normal about alcohol again (unfortunately- as this is more of a battle for me than food in some ways )

Soukmyfalafel · 31/03/2024 18:14

Checking in for today.

I would be careful about drinking too much. I had a meal out this week which wasn't particularly big and left a lot of it, but had wine and whiskey and projectile vomited it back up in the early hours. I don't normally go out much, so wanted to enjoy myself, but it shook me up a bit. My heart was racing prior to that. Just a word of warning to not do what I did! It was probably the sugar. I was an idiot for doing that and I'm not a huge drinker anyway.

I'm starting to get constipated so am taking laxatives. Things are moving, but not as quickly as I would like, so will take two tonight - wish me luck 😆

I have found this weekend tough for dieting due to going out and having family around too, so I'm just concentrating on smaller portions. On this medication I'm normally very healthy, but it has been difficult this weekend.

I'm still feeling able to eat smaller portions. I'm on wk 3 5th day. I was going to inject earlier next week and use the last dose about 5 days in if I was getting hungry, but I will see how it goes.

To the poster who had a stall in WL, I found I lost a lot in the first week to the point I found it almost concerning, but it is slpwer now. I find the scales don't move much for a while and then I drop a pound suddenly. I have lost about 2lb this week, which is perfect, but for a while in the last two weeks I felt I wasn't losing anything. My family haven't noticed what I have lost, but my jeans went on a bit easier this morning. I was actually a bit worried intially that i'd lose really quickly and then have to do the explaining and then deal with the "that's cheating!" comments. I have given myself a few months to lose what I can, but will continue if I have to.

Who are People ordering off? Do you order and then cancel and try and find another company cheaper?
I did have a voy code but it's expensive when it goes up to full price.

Try MedExpress. Use code BACK-SPRING for like £60 off first order. Making it about £95. After MedExpess are about £149 a month

I'm also feeling positive mood effects from it, which is interesting.
Had family round for lunch today and I managed a reasonable amount but no urge to overeat, which was brilliant. First glass of wine since I started.

Want to order from MedExpress but it says they do signed for delivery and I'm only home one day a week. If I'm not there to sign for it, I might not be able to pick it up from the delivery office for nearly a week.

I ordered via MedExpress and chose the cheaper/slower processing/delivery option. It said signed for but I got a link from Royal Mail to allocate a safe place or leave with neighbour etc. They left it in my safe place.

In terms of their timescales, I ordered late Tuesday evening, sent photos Wednesday morning and it arrived on Thursday. I was quite a straight forward order though. Brand new to injections, no other health problems and a BMI of 40.

plinter · 31/03/2024 19:07

I'm only on day 2, but definitely had a reduction in appetite. We've been at home all day, and normally that would mean constant grazing from me, but stuck to meals today. Had a small roast dinner and feel stuffed.
One thing I have noticed is I normally crave fizzy drinks (I have sparkling water or kombucha) but haven't fancied any today.

Hi all, been reading but not really participating, sorry!

I took my 4th dose of 2.5mg on Wednesday in the left side of my stomach. The last time I injected in my stomach (2nd jab) I had terrible nausea after a few days but this time around I've had no side effects at all. Perhaps my body is getting used to it or perhaps I just had more food/protein in me before I injected. Anyway, I'm going to experiment with injection sites just to satisfy the nerd in me!

I'll be taking my bonus 5th shot on Wednesday and I've decided to do it via the syringe and inject method rather than the twist extra hard method. Mainly because I want to see how much of the medicine I'm actually injecting (I've heard people say they're not getting a full 0.6ml dose using the twist method. I'm hoping I'll get more than 0.6ml but not as much as 1.2ml (ie a 5mg dose) as I'd like my bonus shot to be a stepping stone between the two doses.

Food wise, I've definitely been able to eat more this week. I'm really concentrating on protein and then veges, leaving not much room for carbs. I worked out that my TSEE minus 500 cals for weight loss only allows me about 1050 cals a day!! Will try and keep to that but it seems so low. I'm 48yo, 5'1 and currently 74.4kg so I know I need less to eat than taller people but bloody hell! Any other shorties in the house?

Happy Egg Day to all Grin

Fellow shortarse waving in solidarity. I am also 5ft 1 👋🏼

stomachamelon · 31/03/2024 19:40

@ObsidianTree thank you x

KeepingUndercover · 31/03/2024 19:41

End of week 3 and 1.5kg down on last week. The loss is slowing down to a more reasonable figure now after some bigger losses. 6kg in total gone since I started. A whole lot more to go!

I'm doing my last 2.5 tomorrow and plan to try and use the extra dose the following week as I don't want to go up to 5 when the kids are off school in case that's when I get side effects. I've been free of them so far, unless I eat too rich a meal and give myself indigestion.

Hello,

I am on week 2 of 2.5 from Voy but would like cheaper provider of Mounjaro. I do not want GP informed due to knowing all who work in practice (rural practice),do Medexpress require GP to be informed or can I order without GP being informed ?. I provided photos etc for Voy and happy to do that, can anyone advise please?? thanks

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 31/03/2024 19:52

Hey! Day 4 for me and appetite suppression still going strong. This morning I made two rounds of toast with two eggs for breakfast and could only eat half. The dog was most pleased!
Also made a roast dinner and ate less than I normally would. And I had some chocolate and some clear protein in my water. I was careful with putting everything I had today into my fitness pal to check how many calories in eating, and I've only had about 1100 today, even though it feels like I've eaten absolutely loads.
I also used to have fizzy drinks a lot but I don't want them anymore either.

I'm not going to be calorie counting a lot, but I think checking sometimes, especially if I am unsure if I'm eating too much or not enough can't hurt. I am really aiming to have a long-term and permanent good relationship with food and calorie counting every meal will end up with me being obsessive over it.

I saw this video earlier and I thought it made some good points about the medications we are on.

We did a big three course meal with friends this weekend and I was quite worried about getting through it. I managed to eat all courses but tiny portions of each, which was pleasing.

ChristmasLightsLover · 31/03/2024 19:57

@NC543210 That comment about a grenade made me smile. When it's been 24 hours I take meds. I am not going 48 hours or more without a poo! The panic is real.

Mind you, I too only do this on days where I am wfh the next day. The results can be somewhat unpredictable in terms of when they happen!

Investinmyself · 31/03/2024 20:29

I’m taking aloe tablets off Amazon most nights and no issues with constipation.

Continuing Mounjaro...part 3
sassygirlx · 31/03/2024 20:34

So I'm due my third jab of 2.5mg tomorrow.
So far...no change whatsoever! No suppression of appetite at all!
I was on Ozempic a year ago and within hours I was not hungry....
Was on it until June and then couldn't get hold of it after that.

This is so frustrating!

Anyone else been the same?

Albertslittletie · 31/03/2024 20:35

is it possible to get it prescribed by a GP or is it basically impossible?

The GP would need to refer you to the NHS weight management service and it would be up to them. But I believe they are more likely to offer you something like a Slimming World membership and gym membership.

I couldn't seem to progress through the ordering without ticking the box that's allows them to contact the GP. Sensible, really.
I understand your concerns, but it's not like they'd all be talking about you. It will likely get added to your notes by the secretary and no one else will even see it.

0rganisedchaos · 31/03/2024 21:49

@OneLovingRedCrab yes there is a note on the medexpress form stating they need permission to contact your GP in order to complete your prescription.

In the original mounjaro study by the manufacturer, they didn't record any notable weight loss until patients were on 10mg. Losing weight earlier is less common. The 2.5 is to get your body used to the medication and to reduce side effects.

I’m struggling being out of routine with the Easter weekend. Have total suppression, I can’t poo for love nor senna and I can’t risk taking more and have my bowels twist when I’m at my in-laws.

I’m not bothered by the chocolate. I am having to force myself to eat “normal” meals and it’s a struggle as I have zero appetite and it feels like I have no space in my tummy at all.

I hope everyone is having a good Easter and lots of support and love to you all.

Purpledefector · 31/03/2024 23:13

Hi
Week 2 here- I've kept it a secret from everyone- I'm not sure why either? Anyone else told no one?
I've been on adhd meds for a 2 years that reduce appetite but that's nothing like the effect I'm getting from this. I'm
Actively not wanting food.
I'm noticing that at bedtime I've got reflux and it's uncomfortable to sleep flat. I'm also bloody freezing - reassured to see so many others feel the same!

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 31/03/2024 23:26

@FlappyFish I've been a bit constipated too - the aloe Vera helped but it's still not like it was before the injection.
I'm drinking lots of water, two cups of coffee instead of 1 in the morning, and taking fiber capsules (psyllium husks) in the hope that improves things. I'm not uncomfortable but just very aware that it wouldn't take much for it to become a big problem.

@Purpledefector I've told no one too. Not planning on telling anyone - except I'll probably tell DH once I'm on the higher dose and I know I can tolerate it and it starts to really work.
