Morning everyone and happy easter.

Weighed this morning and despite the shaky start and me enjoying the weekend a little too much I'm 7lb down!

For the first part of the week that was willpower as I felt like I didn't get any appetite suppression etc.
Going to take my second jab tonight.

One thing I have noticed is my mood I'm general seems more stable. I think I'm probably peri menopause and as a result my moods can be very up and down. I've felt different this week in a good way.

That's great! What a motivating start

Week 1, day 4. Food noise is definitely back😥This may be due to staying with my parents for Easter, there are very much Food Issues when I'm here. I have brought healthy, high protein snacks with me, but am trying to get out of the habit of snacking. I've had wholemeal toast with mushroom and tomato for breakfast so shouldn't be hungry. I'm having a quiet cup of tea, will then get a glass of water and throw myself into the prep for a large family Easter lunch.

I'm on day 5 of week 1, appetite suppression was only a bit on this dosage but was able to skip breakfast and eat smaller portions and less wine! Was finding felt full quicker and couldn't overeat. Had lost 3 pounds over the last 4 days (though some will be water weight!)

However, had people over last night and managed to eat the majority of a big curry we'd made and then croissants, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast this morning and polished off the lot, so definitely worn off! Will see how it goes this coming week and then may double up the last dose of 2.5.

pinkfluffybunny · 31/03/2024 11:21

Happy Easter everyone.

I'm nearly at the end of week 3 and I have stalled. I'm not sure why. I have neither lost weight, or put any on since my last weigh on Tuesday.

I hardly have any appetite, my meals are small and I only eat twice a day. No snacking.

If this continues, I'm not sure what to do as I don't think it would be healthy to eat anything less than I do.

Mounjaro is working in the sense of suppressing my appetite and I have lost 8 pounds in the first two weeks, but if I have stalled at this weight I'm not sure what I can do.

Has any one who is further down the line has any experience of sting the weight?

Thanks everyone.

You're only on week 3. Everything official on Mounjaro that I've read says to expect no weight loss until you go to 5mg. Just be patient and make sure you're eating enough! (And remind me I've said this if I lose nothing for a while!)

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 31/03/2024 11:30

I can't quite find out what people do once they are at their target weight.

The change on my behaviour (3rd week of 5mg) is amazing. I'm just not bingeing or thinking about bingeing. It's not a conscious thing - and so I assume that if I stop taking the drug the urge to stuff my face will come back and so will the weight.

I've seen some people talk on reddit about a maintenance dose - which seems to be once you're at a heathy weight, wean off the drug but stay on a 2.5mg dose fortnightly.

I'd do it for the rest of my life if that worked, but how do I get the drug if I'm not overweight?

(I'm a year off of having to worry about that, I'm just enthusiastic because I'm definitely down a dress size and I'm THRILLED)

ObsidianTree · 31/03/2024 11:31

Well done to those weighing in today.
@Mortigua awaiting despatch means it will come soon! But obv with the bank holiday it might be a bit delayed. Hope it gets to you soon. What a nightmare that it's taken so long.

@pinkfluffybunny stalls happens. Could be any reason or no reason at all! I would say don't try and restrict your calories more. Eat more protein and drink a lot of water. Just keep going and I'm sure the weight loss will restart.

I have had a Cadbury cream egg for breakfast 😂 but feel content and haven't wanted anymore. Drinking my protein shake now before leaving to visit relative:)

@vivariumvivariumsvivaria I plan to try and stay on a maintenance dose for a long time! Until I'm old if I can! I'm hoping I can buy with the provider I am with on a maintenance dose. I would like my appetite to stay suppressed forever because I am sure if I come off it the hunger will return and I'll gain the weight back. I don't want that to happen so would rather be realistic and say I probably couldn't maintain without the drug! Maybe my mindset will change as I go along and my eating habits will change permanently.... But I reckons the food hunger when off it will be hard to control.

ObsidianTree · 31/03/2024 11:44

Forgot to say... I think your provider will sell you the drug as long as you started with them. But might be worth emailing them to confirm.

Happy Easter. I shared an egg with my daughter and now I feel sick 🤢

Went out for a meal yesterday and couldn't finish what was on my plate. I'm not weighing myself until Tuesday and then I'm away for 10 days so we will see what happens.

I've seen two American ladies on Instagram who say they will take this forever - just like a diabetic would. It's a daunting idea but I can see why. I'm really hoping I'll learn some good habits and manage to maintain - or at least react fast if I see I've put on. I also worry whether we will be able to get the drug when on bmi 25 or less but I guess we will need to wait and see.

ChristmasLightsLover · 31/03/2024 12:26

Thank you @bblondemoment for the reassurance. I feel better today than yesterday. Yesterday was not fun.

Saw someone else post that they'd moved to 5 and spent the day in bed. I think I will plan to swap on a Friday and allow for the weekend to regroup and settle.

ChristmasLightsLover · 31/03/2024 12:29

In other news I'm now a Strava wanker - competing against myself as I walk. I did 5.5 miles today, in two hours. Am absolutely thrilled with this.

It feels great to think that I might replace obsessing about food with obsessing about getting stronger and fitter.

Is anyone else starting to exercise? How are you finding it?

Big love to us all as we sit surrounded by chocolate...

CiderJabs · 31/03/2024 12:36

Also - for constipation. Someone here suggested aloe Vera- I took it for the first time last night and it seems to be working (probably too well I fear 😱)

YouAreEffluentKim · 31/03/2024 13:00

Hi all, been reading but not really participating, sorry!

I took my 4th dose of 2.5mg on Wednesday in the left side of my stomach. The last time I injected in my stomach (2nd jab) I had terrible nausea after a few days but this time around I've had no side effects at all. Perhaps my body is getting used to it or perhaps I just had more food/protein in me before I injected. Anyway, I'm going to experiment with injection sites just to satisfy the nerd in me!

I'll be taking my bonus 5th shot on Wednesday and I've decided to do it via the syringe and inject method rather than the twist extra hard method. Mainly because I want to see how much of the medicine I'm actually injecting (I've heard people say they're not getting a full 0.6ml dose using the twist method. I'm hoping I'll get more than 0.6ml but not as much as 1.2ml (ie a 5mg dose) as I'd like my bonus shot to be a stepping stone between the two doses.

Food wise, I've definitely been able to eat more this week. I'm really concentrating on protein and then veges, leaving not much room for carbs. I worked out that my TSEE minus 500 cals for weight loss only allows me about 1050 cals a day!! Will try and keep to that but it seems so low. I'm 48yo, 5'1 and currently 74.4kg so I know I need less to eat than taller people but bloody hell! Any other shorties in the house?

Happy Egg Day to all Grin

Pigriver · 31/03/2024 13:26

Just injected my extra dose by twisting hard. Luckily when I changed suppliers for my second dose they sent 6 needles rather than 4! There was still a teeny bit left but I just did the one dose.
This week has been a strange one. It usually wears off by Friday morning but didn't this week. I actually went out last night for drinks and had no problem at all (first time drinking since new year!)

NC543210 · 31/03/2024 13:51

@CiderJabs which aloe did you get? This is the main issue for me without a doubt. Not being able to go to the loo and feeling bloated as a result.

CiderJabs · 31/03/2024 14:04

@NC543210 this one. It's £10 and it lasts 6 months! I don't know if it's a coincidence but I did feel different this morning and went to the loo as soon as I woke up. And then again half an hour later!!!

Continuing Mounjaro...part 3

Thanks, @ObsidianTree

Tha's a good idea. I haven't figured out how I'll pay for this, but, really, it's working so well and it's about £6 a day which is not a huge amount of money - I'd easily spend that on lunch on work days.

It blows my mind that thin people must live like this all the time. Just not interested in stuffing their faces. It's mind blowing.

I’m peri menopausal and I’ve really noticed I feel so much better.

Fabulous thank you. Just ordered. Might time them for when I'm not at work the following day at first 🤣
That said, I think it's going to take a grenade at this point.

Interesting isn't it.
I'm due a jab today and definitely feel a little flatter than I have all week.

NC543210 · 31/03/2024 15:49

Has anyone drank the day they've had their jab?

Only we are having family over for a late easter lunch. Well it's not lunch really as its 7pm due to shift workers
I'll definitely have a glass or two of red but was going to do my jab at 10pm. Wondering if I should leave it until tomorrow morning.

Yes, I did, when still on the 2.5mg which wasn't having much effect on me. No adverse effects.

I did my 2nd 5mg jab last night and I think I'm finally getting the right effects. Feel very full and almost constipated (even though I'm not). Very flatulent (TMI!) and a very dry mouth.
Today I've eaten half a pot of soya yogurt and a pack of squeaky bean (I'm vegan most of the time) and have no further appetite. Going out tonight to a concert so may end up having a drink but at the moment I don't think I've got room for anything. Really hoping this is it at long last

RagzRebooted · 31/03/2024 17:21

I'm also feeling positive mood effects from it, which is interesting.
Had family round for lunch today and I managed a reasonable amount but no urge to overeat, which was brilliant. First glass of wine since I started.

Want to order from MedExpress but it says they do signed for delivery and I'm only home one day a week. If I'm not there to sign for it, I might not be able to pick it up from the delivery office for nearly a week.

Investinmyself · 31/03/2024 17:38

I’m on 2.5 mg. Had a roast but only managed one small Yorkshire and one small roast potato. Had lots of veg. No one has noticed it’s not been awkward at all. I’m now very full.
