You could stick with 2.5 or go up to 5. The initial dose is meant to be very low but if it is working for you there is no reason not to stick with it - people respond differently. I think you do adjust a bit as you get used to taking it. Thats why you can go up a dose without horrendous side effects in theory that you might have had if you started on a high dose. The best thing to do is take the lowest possible dose that works.

Day 5 for me. Sleep still appalling. Down 3 kgs of water weight since last weekend. Just about to try the gym. I lift weights and am curious to see whether I'm going to manage 40kg bench press today, which is usually easy! I take creatine as well to support muscle growth. It might be a good thing for you to look into if you're planning on conserving muscle and weight training.

Thanks for the advice on this. Never heard of that before, but I go to gym twice a week normally and although I never get enough time to do a decent workout (2hrs a week) I still don't want to lose muscle I have. I struggled with heavy things yesterday, which I wouldn't normally. I'm going to try and stick to protein and veg for the most part. Much easier now with this meds. Think it's more carb noise than food noise for me. I realise now that sugar is evil!

So far eaten half a bacon sandwich today (and a glass of wine) 😊, but have a roast on the way. I will do myself a small plate. I find if I eat it 'breaks the seal' and I just want more, so planning on just eating small during the day and just eating a smaller version of what everyone else eats in the evening. I refused a cake earlier which is unheard of, but only three days in now. Might be different on day six. Even five days of a calorie deficit is good for me.

Thebaldprimadonna · 16/03/2024 17:16

Just took my first dose of 5mg. I feel a bit nervous to be honest, but my last lower dose definitely wore off by Thursday (four days).

I have been very lucky with side effects so far, so fingers crossed for the same 😊

RunningAndSinging · 16/03/2024 17:27

I had a big lunch out - tried to eat a bit more than I wanted to be polite and now feel a bit sick. I think I would have polished it off no problem before so it is doing something. I also felt slightly nauseous this morning. My double dose day is coming up on Monday so 5 mg in total then.

Choux · 16/03/2024 18:47

Am away with friends and struggling. They eat so much. Am also a bit bunged up so am at risk of feeling unwell. I think I am going to have to go to a pharmacy and get some type of laxative. I can't do another two days of eating if i can't get myself moving. Even eating smaller portions and trying to focus on the fruit and light stuff is not helping.

Choux · 16/03/2024 18:54

Do all laxatives work overnight so I would have to get something tonight or is there something I could use in the morning if I still haven't managed to go?

To make it even trickier I am in Spain.

BourbonD · 16/03/2024 19:35

I’ve ordered mounjaro, just waiting to be approved. Now thinking ahead about meals, any tips?

I think most work overnight.
It’s hard in company but I think I’d not do breakfast (lots can’t face breakfast) light lunch and light dinner. So eg fish and veg. Hope you feel better soon.

MoreThanJustANumber · 16/03/2024 19:56

I had my third dose last night. Still making zero difference to me but I think I probably have more to lose than most and might not see a change until I go up to the 5mg.

I'm still spending all day thinking about food and what I can eat next. So desperate for that to stop.

RunningAndSinging · 16/03/2024 19:56

Protein to keep your muscle mass and fruit and veg to reduce constipation and just because they are good for you. You will eat smaller portions and less snacks anyway.

I’m only day 4. I’m focusing on protein/veg and 3 small meals. No snacking so far and lots of water.
I track on nutracheck.
Day 1 egg/1 slice sourdough, homemade chicken/lentil/veg soup, salmon & veg stir fry.
Day 2 aldi protein granola pot/berries, same soup, turkey mince burrito.
Day 3 same breakfast & lunch day 2, dinner an aldi protein chicken tikka ready meal.
Day 4 omelette, prawn salad, chicken & veg.
So far feeling really good.

Hi everyone! Yay to a second thread 🥳

I’m still going strong, on my second week of 5mg and I’ve really noticed a difference since moving up a dose. There’s almost no desire to eat and eating just doesn’t do it for me anymore. Even my fiancé (I’m keeping MJ a secret) said to me “why aren’t you eating chocolate at night anymore?” 🫣

I’ve lost a stone now too which I’m really happy with. My only issue is the constipation so I’ve started taking Magnesium Citrate hoping it will help.

Can I ask how you’ve managed to keep it a secret? I’m just waiting for my order to come into Boots (taken a week so far, think I might take a trip in tomorrow!).

I am also not wanting to mention it to my partner, I guess once you use the pen once you can keep it out of the fridge, but I’m wondering what I can do before that!

Thank you! Will be going back through all my books to find some simple ideas. I hate meal prep, but need a packed lunch. I hear higher protein is a good idea

Pretty easily keeping it secret- I store it in a high up cupboard behind handbags! My partner is a fitness freak and extremely self disciplined so I can’t cope with the dim view he would take…

For info, I started to progress my next jab with Asda as I had an email from them reminding me. Logged in and started the process but then though, no I've got two more weeks yet, I'll leave it a bit longer so left the basket.
Next day or so I had a 10% off discount code from them. I don't know if it'll work on this but I can't see any terms and conditions that say not applicable.

There's a code for 50% off your order with Voy.

I've received my order (only took two days) and my first jab will be tomorrow!

MuthaHubbard · 16/03/2024 22:01

Here you all are! I've had two nights away so I weighed before we left and I've lost another 3lbs off this week - 14lbs down in total. On way home now so will do my 4th injection of 2.5 when I get in. Needles on order for that last dose and my 5 is ready and waiting in the fridge.
We went to the races, where we'd normally be having a few drinks and I just wasn't overly fussed. Food wise it again just didn't really feature - both days I just had a meal at night and even then, I could still stop when full rather than keep on going til plate cleared.
This is still amazing me.

CiderJabs · 16/03/2024 22:04

@sassygirlx I tried that and it will not let me select MJ :(

I used a 50% off code for Voy (don't know if same one) and I could select it with no problem. They are a bit pricey but with the 50% off it meant the first month was only £114.50, I will then cancel the subscription before the next pen and get somewhere cheaper.
Waiting for approval and hoping to start sometime in the new week.

I wonder if they will only let you buy the 2.5mg with the code.
I went through to check out and it just says MJ, not what concentration you are buying or any way to select which you want.

Week 1 report.

SW 247lb
CW 240lb
2.5mg first dose

I’ve found the first week surprisingly easy, no real side effects. I’m eating very cleanly, three small meals a day lots of fruit and veg and protein. Kcal deficit of about 1000 a day.

Havent been much more active as I’ve got a rubbish cold, focusing on getting my steps in but hoping to be back swimming next week.

Will take my second dose tonight before bed.

So far, so brilliant. I think this could change my life.

BigBessie · 17/03/2024 08:31

I love this thread!

I lost 1st7 on Saxenda before the shortages and put it all back on again

After reading all of your posts I filled out the application with Zava on Friday , uploaded my two photos and it was delivered early the next morning (yesterday)

I did my first jab early yesterday and I appear to have felt the affects within hours. My son gave me a mini pastry and I could only eat half. Last night i went out to watch the rugby and couldn't face a wine. I am normally a demon for wine! Had a couple of gin and slims then back on water.

This morning I have realised I don't want caffeine so am drinking a turmeric tea.

God I hope it stays this easy ...

Yeah I think I’ll find it easy to hide once it’s out of the fridge - it’s just before is going to be a bit difficult.

My partner is the same, as well as being blessed with an incredible metabolism, he runs 7 days a week.

NextPrimeMinister · 17/03/2024 09:20

I received my needles yesterday so have used the leftovers from my pen to 'double up', so effectively had 5mg this week.
