thanks so much I’m going to do that now and hopefully it might speed things up a bit !

ObsidianTree · 27/03/2024 19:50

That looks interesting @Choux. No idea if it's right, buts right I think.

Making me think of my hol and taking a week off. If I go up to 7.5mg for the month before my hol, then maybe the halflife will mean I'm still getting effects of 5mg while not taking it for that week.

I think I'll borrow your maths and figure out dose on 7.5mg!

Thank you for the new thread @ObsidianTree :))

I'm half way through my fourth week. I don't know why, but I feel as though I am eating more. And I don't need to. I just don't know what else to do.

I'm wondering if this is where my hard work starts. Doing this consistently. I'm walking more and documenting it on Strava which is good. I'm waffling. Sorry.

Has the novelty worn off for anyone else? Feel free to bring the tough love. I'm 120 kg. This has to be the solution. I need to make this work.

Are you keeping track of what you eat? Maybe you just think you’re eating more? Or maybe initially you were being a bit more conscious of the whole thing and choosing not to eat when you could have, and restricting your calories too much?

I think in any case this does still take work, it wouldn’t be healthy if we just never felt hungry and all control was removed from us. I feel like it should be more of a boost to effort, making it easier to eat a better diet. There is still work to be done.

Exitstrategist · 27/03/2024 20:13

I feel like apart from reducing the food noise you get the choice about what to put in your body and this takes a whole mental shift. So before I would be hungry and fill up on carbs like toast and cake… now I make the conscious decision to fill the house with fruit and protein high Greek yoghurt. As I’m not that hungry but I know I have to eat I am able to swerve old habits and I’m forcing myself to eat the healthy food. I’m on my fourth injection and now feel this is becoming a habit… I am really feeling the benefits of eating low carb and happy that I am now getting more vitamins and nutrients. Does that make any sense?

MammothyGoodness · 27/03/2024 20:15

Hi, just dropping in because I’d started a thread and someone mentioned this one is helpful! I’m On my second week and it’s hard today! Death in the family, on holiday with kids and I’m just so tired! Even worse, I’ve walked loads (hit 20,000 steps and been swimming) so my brain is saying it’s ok to have a night off and pig out. Already had some chocolate, which I’ve not done since I started. Lost 8lb on my first week so I was optimistically hoping for a stone loss by the second week, but feel like I’m about to ruin it. Any advice for people who aren’t hungry but just struggling to break the habit of eating when I’m tired/sad/holidaying?

KeepingUndercover · 27/03/2024 20:23

A stone in two weeks would be a huge amount @MammothyGoodness, slower is better for you. I bet pre this you’d have been amazed to even lose 8lbs in 2 weeks? Maybe focus on that?

Can you actually have a complete pig out? Will you not get full up before it gets crazy? I’ve still been having chocolate on occasion and finding a little bit is plenty, I feel like a normal person who just eats a bit thinks “oh that was nice” and stops. If you let yourself eat what you fancy you might find you don’t want that much anymore.

Otherwise I think it’s the usual advice for anyone dieting. Try and eat mindfully so you can distinguish proper hunger from boredom, distract yourself, maybe have a cup of peppermint tea or something instead. Drink a glass of water and see how you feel in half an hour. All the stuff I hate!

Can someone check my maths assuming you can read my photo.

Having seen the post with a graph and the info that the drug has a half life of 5 days, I have done some calcs on how much drug is in me every day as I go through 4 x 2.5mg doses and move up to 5mg.

The half life means (I think!) that there are traces of your first dose for weeks afterwards so the drug gradually accumulates. (The green cells are the half life check)

I have tweaked my dose dates slightly by taking the last dose a few days early and have been feeling a bit sick after meals the last couple of days. Once because I went out to a birthday lunch and once after having dinner at home. According to these calcs the dose on me was over 4.

But if I go up to 5mg after Easter the dose in me will be over 6! I am not sure I can maintain a social life with that amount of suppression. So I may need to stay on 2.5mg.

Am also posting this for anyone not seeing much appetite suppression on 2.5mg. The dose inside you really ramps up when you move up to 5mg so try to be patient.

Or are my calcs wrong?

@Choux
That sounds correct (although haven't checked the maths!) However, your body does get somewhat used to it (that's why we don't start on a higher dose) so you may find it's ok by then.

In terms of feeling ill after meals, from what I've heard this is mostly after having "heavy" meals, so either large or greasy or very heavy on red meat (nothing wrong with red meat but it's a bit tougher on digestion) or a lot of sugar.

So in terms of keeping a social life the best thing seems to be to make the lighter choices (or if you want to join in on cake etc. only eat a small portion) and then eat slowly so you have plenty of notice when you're starting to feel full and stop at that point as you'll only regret it later if you don't.

Have you been counting your calories?

Could it be psychological? We are used to eating so much that we feel so stuffed and guilty for eating so much. On Mounjaro we are getting that stuffed feeling after eating a small portion, but because you associate that full feeling with eating way too much, you feel guilty and like you've eaten too much?

I feel like I was doing that my first few weeks.

Hope that makes sense!

@KeepingUndercover i have a LOT to lose and always lose well on first day of diet. Think I’ve been lucky as I’ve had no side effects except being absolutely freezing (and having my first period in 5 years!). I’m not hungry at all, and feel full pretty much as soon as I start eating so think it’s working :) no idea if I could eat loads because I haven’t tried since I started, I just really want to tonight :(

oaode · 27/03/2024 20:51

lurkylurk · 26/03/2024 19:48

@ElizaJ74

When is best to take the aloe vera? I bought some but was wondering whether to take it at night or in the morning?

On when to take the Aloe Vera tablets : I take them before you go to bed so I wake up good to go go ! Essentially you have given it 8 hrs to work So if you are a party girl who gets in at 3 am, then I would wait till the morning.🎉

KeepingUndercover · 27/03/2024 20:55

@MammothyGoodness maybe have something you'd really like to eat but plan to just have that and not keep going? I doubt you'd be able to keep going anyway from what you say.

@MammothyGoodness

There was someone else, can't remember if it was on this thread or another that was having cramps and spotting after not having had a period for 2 years so it does seem to be a thing!

😂at the idea of being a party girl, think my years of that are fairly long gone, thanks for the advice though, will take one tonight before bed. Haven't pooped today and that's fairly unheard of for me. Only started yesterday so can't yet be due to lack of intake.

oaode · 27/03/2024 21:10

Dear ladies
We must remember that as we go through this process of loosing weight we are also gaining muscle mass as we are getting a bit more active. As muscle mass is heavier than fat there will be some weeks when the scales won't move. But I bet you that on those weeks your clothed fit better and you have a spring in your step. So please don't beat your self up on those day. Remember Rome was not built in a day. Neither was that voluptuous figure you are trying to get rid of. Be kind to yourself 🤩

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 27/03/2024 22:05

Hi All,
Like you I am hoping this is going to be the thing that helps me make some serious changes. I started with Saxenda last year, then was moved to Wegovy which did nothing, and so far I'm satisfied that Mounjaro is having an effect. Hoping to get below 90kg and not go over this weight again as a first goal. The graphs tell it as it is, am really hopeful that the downward trend will continue and that I do better than last year (I need to, have spend better part of £2000 that I didn't have!).

I'm coming to the end of week 4 and there have been a few times this week that I have felt like snacking. This is where the old habits can slip in and we have to exert the self control to make a better choice. I had some chocolate on Monday for no other reason than it was there. Immediately regretted it because it didn't even taste nice. Same with a mini cupcake given to me today for my birthday. I took a bite and immediately regretted it as I just didn't need it. It's habit.
I've lost 12lb in just under 4 weeks with very little feeling of hunger thanks to Mounjaro but I have to make the right choices of what I do eat/snack on.
I'm an after work and an evening snacker plus if I see treats I'll mindlessly eat so I'm trying to restrain myself not to while the Mounjaro provides extra will power support.
I'm going to try and get the extra dose out on Friday night. My 5mg pen came with a few extra needles so fingers crossed it works!

CiderJabs · 27/03/2024 23:31

@Investinmyself I think we are similar height and weight! Mj twins :)
I also struggle massively with evening snacking especially when others in my household start eating when we are watching tv. How do you cope with that? Any clever ideas ?

I’ve found I’ve not been snacking due to mounjano. My usual tactics are later dinner, walk or gym don’t sit, or go to bed and read. Hot drink can help too either milky or warm no sugar vimto.

I tend to fall asleep as soon as I sit on the sofa in the evenings so that helps with stopping me snack most of the time 😁

Sometimes if I think I'll be tempted to snack, I'll go and do my whole face-washing skincare and teeth brushing with mouthwash routine and then I don't want to eat.

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 28/03/2024 06:20

Hey,

I'm starting Mounjaro either tonight or tomorrow night and after work I'm going to nip into Holland and Barrett to pick up anything I might need.

So far I've already started taking a multivitamin with lots of B Vits for energy, magnesium and collagen. I have electrolytes too.
What else do I need? Aloe Vera tablets? Any recommendations?

I'm a little more than you - 129kg. I'm on day six of week two and yesterday I found myself grazing - luckily I only had salad and chicken breast in the house (ie no chocolate) as that's what I grazed on but it highlighted to me that bad habits are sneaking in (I know it's not normal to graze on two packets of chicken breast slices over the course of the afternoon / evening) and I need to properly work out a meal plan.
I'm going to take the time over Easter to figure that out.

Scalessayeek · 28/03/2024 07:30

I've found listening to some podcasts quite helpful. There are a lot of rubbish ones out there but if you sift through you can find some gems.

I learn by writing things down so I made some notes whilst I listened. So far I've covered some emotional eating, willpower and guilt/binge eating. My plan is to listen to these for the next 12-18 months whilst on the meds and practice what I'm learning whilst on it to help when I'm off.

Keepthepeace82 · 28/03/2024 07:37

3rd injection this morning and even though I made better food choices, I felt the week was harder - 2.5lbs down though. It's my TOTM, which is the likely cause for it feeling a tougher week. After Easter, I'm going to follow a more structured food plan. Good luck to all!
SW: 15st 7.5lbs
Week 1: -7.5lbs (2.5mg)
Week 2: -2.5lbs (2.5mg)
CW: 14st 11.5lbs
Total lost:- 10lbs in 2 weeks
