It's my 4th injection today so I decided to go up to 5mg early by using the leftovers in the pen.

This is not medical advice, just what I chose to do.

I ordered these needles https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C4HC51NY
I used the pen for the last dose as usual and then used the syringe above to extract what was left. (Pull the plunger back slowly otherwise you get lots of air bubbles.)

I managed to get 0.7ml out which is slightly more than 1 dose so it's definitely worth doing.

The needle is slightly bigger and longer but didn't hurt much more than the pen.

Before injecting, I made sure to hold the syringe with the needle upright, flick it to get the air bubbles to the top, and squeezed the plunger until they were gone. Then I injected it in a different spot of my stomach than I used for the pen.

I'm hoping by doing this I can get an extra dose out of every pen to help with the cost.

I was feeling more normal today day 3 so had full portion of homemade soup but now feel uncomfortably full/nauseous so will definitely not do that again and eat much smaller portions. Lesson learned.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 15/03/2024 14:22

Middle of week 2 here. Only a mild appetite suppression here but I have used saxenda before so I wonder if that would make it less effective at the start. My main issue is not knowing which eating plan to follow, I've done everything in the past - nothing feels quite right (can't face low carb anymore)
Still get indigestion if I eat too late in the evening.

AgathaMystery · 15/03/2024 14:51

Hi all… I am sat looking at my first dose.

I did Saxenda last year and lost 15kg. Felt amazing. Then the shortages happened & I also had a redundancy & the weight came back.

I was super sensitive to Saxenda & never went over 3mg I think! Anyway. I am thinking to start it today or tomorrow. The old thread has been super helpful for me in terms of hints and tips.

NCfor24 · 15/03/2024 15:27

I've started today! Had my jab at lunchtime before eating. Am awaiting side effects with bated breath!
Re toileting...I go really infrequently anyway and it's a nightmare. I'm not sure whether to start taking something or just see how it goes. I do remember a previous weight loss counsellor telling me that when you are eating good nutritious food you will go to the loo less as your body is using the food, so minimal waste product. When you eat junk, there's less good stuff for it to use, so there's more waste. It sounds reasonable but I don't know how true it is. But it was basically said "if you want well and only poop once or twice a week, it's fine"..assuming it's not agony, rock hard and you're not suffering...ie it isn't actual constipation just lack of urge.

oaode · 15/03/2024 16:29

Now on week 3 of 2.5 dose
Have lost 2.6kg in 9 days. Hurray
The appetite suppression has really kicked in and so has the bloating. Aloe Vera tablets overnight seem to help. So all you lovelies out there be encouraged.
PS. Has anyone bought from Bolt , is it reliable and not dubious .Also the cost of 159

oaode · 15/03/2024 16:32

ObsidianTree · 15/03/2024 05:17

Oh one side effect for me that isn't getting easier is the constipation! Sorry for the TMI... But have been trying for days to poop! Just managed to go a bit but pretty sure I'm still pretty backed up! After Disney I will go get some strong laxatives. The psylum husks and magnesium citrate are helping a bit but not helping with a full clearout which is needed! Maybe that's why I'm not losing much weight 😂

Try Aloe Vera tablets for the bloating and constipation . HOLLAND AND BARRETT

Week 1 done. 2nd dose tonight.
I feared my appetite was returning yesterday but I’ve still eaten much less than usual today so I’m a little excited to find the 0.25 has worked all week. strangely, I’m finding it much easier to drag myself out of bed in the mornings too, despite no extra sleep.
Not weighed for a few days so tomorrow morning…

Good luck to everyone giving this a try. It’s great to read all the experiences

Did my second 7.5mg injection today. The first week was interesting, because I had very few side effects (mainly nausea at the start of the week), and my largest weekly loss to date - 3.4lbs. So I am now down 14.2lbs.

SW: 201.8
CW: 187.6

I have lost weight each week. My lowest loss was 0.8lb and my highest this week: 3.4lbs.

This morning I truly experienced that feeling, partway through breakfast, where I could not eat any more. I just put my fork down.

But none of it has been easy. This is still hard work for me, where I have to be careful and watch what I eat, and plan things carefully to make sure I get enough nutrition. It is also showing me how much I normally snack - a little here, a little there, and it all adds up. But what I think the Mounjaro is giving me is the consistency and strength to not stop and fall back into my usual way of eating. I feel hungry at times, but I can choose to not give into the feeling. Which is fascinating.

izzy2076 · 15/03/2024 18:18

Day 4. Really shit sleep. Less than four hours. But.... it's so weird. I had loads of energy. I work with children with behavioural needs and it can be physically and mentally taxing but I had so much energy despite very little sleep. Not in a buzzed/wired way either, which you sometimes get on no sleep. What's that about?? Could this also be the answer to menopausal fatigue?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 15/03/2024 19:13

@izzy2076 I also feel pretty energetic on this. Saxenda worked well for me years ago (before I got ill with gallstones) but it made me feel exhausted ALL the time.

izzy2076 · 15/03/2024 19:23

@NaturalBlondeYeahRight I'm finding it so interesting. I'm only 5 days in but feel that my body belongs to a younger person. My appetite is a bit suppressed but I feel I'm experiencing hunger in the way I'm supposed to: it isn't driving me to overeat, I'm not craving sugar. I have energy after 4 hours sleep. I know it's probably initial euphoria/placebo effect but it already feels like it's regulated so many things that were out of kilter. Even my mood feels stable.

izzy2076 · 15/03/2024 19:25

I felt this when I first started HRT but the feeling only lasted a week so I'm cautious.

Femeia · 15/03/2024 19:36

I'm taking my 4th injection tomorrow- will be glad to go up to 5ml next week as sadly this has had no effect whatsoever on me.

zaffa · 15/03/2024 20:07

So just about to inject - asda instructions say I need to use a swab to wipe the red seal - but I don't have any swabs. Were we supposed to get these included?

ItsFunToBeAVampire · 15/03/2024 20:08

It's been about 8 hours since my first 5mg jab. After a couple of hours I started to feel like I had low blood sugar, a bit shakey and woozy, so I had a glass of orange juice and had an early dinner and the feeling went away. I don't know if it was actually related to the jab as I sometimes get that feeling anyway, but it's something to be aware of.

@oaode
I ordered from Bolt and they were fine. It came within a couple of days.

I'm here. I love that Mounjaro is spelt differently to the last thread but is still spelt wrong. Let's never spell it right in the thread titles!!!

Drives me nuts!!

AgathaMystery · 15/03/2024 20:24

Dear oracles - I’ve got my 1st pen, done my 2 click air shot to prime the needle - but I can’t work out how many clicks I need for dose one. I got to 20+ clicks & still the number on the dosage window didn’t change. Is this normal with mounjaro? Saxenda was a couple of clicks.

KeepingUndercover · 15/03/2024 20:28

It's a lot of clicks @AgathaMystery just keep going until the 1 appears.

I've just done mine and the pen wound out about four turns before we got to the 1. DH had to do it for me because I was so nervous and I was sure he had made an error and was about to inject all four doses in one go into my leg!

KeepingUndercover · 15/03/2024 20:30

More regular meals have definitely helped me today. I've eaten less than I normally would at each one and haven't had the desire to snack incessantly through the day.

zaffa · 15/03/2024 20:30

So I've done it! How long until it takes effect? Do some people feel different straight away?

AgathaMystery · 15/03/2024 20:32

Thank you. I got to 30+ clicks and wound it back thinking surely not! I will try again.

holy hell. Looks like a massive massive dose!! I must’ve given hundreds of thousands of injections but this looks insane.

Soukmyfalafel · 15/03/2024 20:39

zaffa I had a very strange full feeling between my boobs and then went away on the second day. I feel hungry on second day (didnt yesterday at all) but am not driven to eat on that feeling. When I eat I don't feel full as such and feel like I could keep eating, but can stop if I want to.

I have also noticed that I'm not especially keen on very sugary processed foods and enjoy fruits instead.
