Quickmeds is probably the main one I am thinking of.

Protein shakes are much lovelier if blended with loads of ice.

Or frozen fruit - blueberries work well with vanilla and cherries are fab with chocolate

My 2nd 2.5mg dose was taken on Friday. We're on holiday and have eaten out for lunch and I ordered a poke bowl (basmati rice and salad) with smoked salmon. It came in around 600 calories I think. Normally I'd see something like that and think it sounds nice then choose a big cheeseburger! The major advantage I'm feeling is that sense of control and being able to make a sensible healthy choice. It is totally alien to me!

I did drink wine yesterday and I do have more for tonight, but I don't have that "I'm on holiday and eat and drink whatever I like" feeling!

It's so refreshing to not feel ruled by cravings and food thoughts.

I think my med express order has been approved. They emailed this morning asking for me to answer questions about when I started and how long I've been on my current mounjaro pen. I answered and just noticed the status on the website went from pending approval or something to awaiting dispatch. So it got approved a lot faster than I expected it to. Happy with that considering I've saved about £55 this month by moving suppliers!

It will cover all the protein and the supplements I have ordered this month 😂

Well I’ve just got in a right middle injecting what I thought was my last 2.5 and the end bit but I’m sure I’ve done 5mg maybe even plus a bit and then squirted some out and wasted it (twice !) no idea how I am so bad at this . Expensive mistakes too. Not sure if I’m more scared I’ve messed up and wasted it or that I’ve given myself too much !

Moanranger · 26/03/2024 15:48

So now I have ordered my first pen via HealthExpress. Usual faff downloading photos. I was honest in my questionnaire re side effects I had on Saxenda and Ozempic. The order was held until I contacted them, twice. First asking me to confirm that there may be the same side effects; second to ask me if I had suicidal thoughts on previous treatments. No. While this was happening I actually would have been okay if they declined me, as it would show that they were truly evaluating patient suitability.
I did get approved so should receive shortly. I am prepared for side effects; either they will put me off entirely or I will see if I can tolerate them and perhaps they will reduce.

I scanned through a lot of posts here and on FB and noticed only a few reporting the side effects I had. When I was on Saxenda/Ozempic, I noticed a lot more reports, so perhaps this is less common with MJ. I decided the only way to find out is to try. I am both worried and resigned.

Re protein, I use Nutracheck. The best way is to meal plan and build all your meals around protein, so lots of eggs, lean fish/meat, tinned fish, cottage cheese. Lidl do a great high protein line - I am a fan of their protein bars (20g) and their high protein puddings, also 20g.
One thing that would improve my mood entirely would be some weight loss - I am tired of lugging all this weight around, and it being so flaming difficult. My partner loss 2 stone just by reducing portion sizes and he still eats a lot! We went on a walking holiday in Feb, doing the exact same amount of exercise, and I ate about 60% of what he did (9 course breakfast, anyone?) He lost half a stone, me nothing!
I will report back in awhile, will start Friday evening.

Mortigua · 26/03/2024 16:04

Moanranger i sympathise , I have a similar one at home who seems to think that it would all just fall off if I exercised more , because all he needs to do is a few extra things and his weight issues go away . I’m finding it harder and harder!
in terms of side effects and having tried Ozempic too , I found that gave me worse effects for less success and I only got to the second or third dose up . Not many seem to get bad issues with Mounjaro from what I’ve read.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 16:08

Hey all,

I've already decided to stay on 5mg for my next pen, but did get a reply to my request on an update on when 7.5mg would be avail. Thought I would share for those still hoping to go up to 7.5mg

Message from Asda:

Unfortunately we are letting you know that Mounjaro 7.5mg is currently out of stock nationwide. We are hopeful that it will become available in mid-April, and are in constant discussions with its manufacturer, Eli Lilly, to obtain stock as soon as we can.

OP posts:
KeepingUndercover · 26/03/2024 16:09

I emailed MedExpress but they just keep repeating they don’t have any in stock. Which is not what I asked.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 16:13

So looks like the stock issue effecting US is also an issue for UK also.

I'm glad Mounjaro came to UK, but you think they wouldn't release it here until they had managed to sort out the stock issues in American first!

I'm a bit concerned that there won't be stock of 7.5mg mid April either.

OP posts:
ticktock19 · 26/03/2024 16:19

Oh dear..that's not sounding too positive is it, @ObsidianTree, I completely agree with you that really it shouldn't have been released here until they could guarantee a steady flow of meds. I can stay at 5mg for a couple of months if required but it really is disappointing that no planning seems to have happened

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 16:27

No it doesn't sound positive unfortunately. I think we all are going to have to accept that we need to stay on 5mg for a while! The good thing is we are all still new at this. So 5mg should work for us for a while yet... hopefully!

I am on holiday in May and have worked out if I stay on 5mg until my hol and use 5 doses from each pen, then I should be at the end of a pen when I go so I can have a break and restart after my hol. L So silver lining I suppose!

OP posts:
ticktock19 · 26/03/2024 16:34

Absolutely, Kudos to the folks that realised about the extra dose, that's at least something and makes the price plus delay more bearable

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 16:36

Yes definitely. With med express it works out £30 a week using 5 doses. That's almost cheap! I used to pay more for Cambridge /exante diet!

Good to know yours has been looked at , when did you start the order was it yesterday? I’ve just worked out I’ve injected 2 weeks of 2.5 today and I think I’ve wasted my extra dose with squirting bits out😩 so not much I can do now but hoping I got enough of it in as it was hard to see and also hoping I get approved for the 5 in time for next weeks dose .

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 16:58

I ordered yesterday @Mortigua. Got a message it's been dispatched now. So not taken long at all. Should come tomorrow or Thursday I think.

That's crazy that happened! Take a pic of pen maybe and we can stay how many doses left in the pen?

The virtual slimming clinic has some estimated release dates - 8th April for 7.5mg but it does say these could change.

I think my anxiety is better on this drug than it was off the drugs or in Wegovy. Early days and I will keep monitoring but I have less worried I think.

oaode · 26/03/2024 17:20

Hi All
Hallelujah, my MedExpress MJ 5.0mg order has now been dispatched. Yippee. I moved from Boots to them. They were quite rigorous in making me provide evidence which extended the order time. But I took that as a good sign of their professionalism.
Also I noted that due to the fantastic take up they are over busy. So I would advice that one you take your 2nd dose, order the next batch.

I see we all seem to be going down the right path. Be encouraged and stay kind to your selves all you good ( and soon to be svelte) ladies 🚺

oaode · 26/03/2024 17:32

Just on the constipation....
Apart from the appetite suppression MJ also reduces your digestion time. That's why you have the constipation and you may be farting and burping a lot. I would use to harsh a laxative as you may be undoing some of the benefit. I would suggest using Aloe Vera tablets . Not only will they soften your stool but they will reduce your bloating. It is also good for the skin

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 26/03/2024 17:50

Woohoo!!! Asda pharmacy has approved my prescription!! Yay!

I have no idea why second nature would deny it - I can only think that they didn't like some answers I gave on the questionnaire. They asked things like "how important is weight loss to you" and stuff like that.

It arrives Thurs and I plan to take it Fri night.

So pleased!

Also, when I had to send Asda my pics... I was 5lbs down since last week - I've been upping my protein already in anticipation, and it's started me off it seems.

@ObsidianTree
It may not be the same issue as we use different pens here and I read that the issue in the U.S. was mostly down to a lack of the pens they use (whether that is true I haven't been able to verify). The 7.5mg dosage has never been available in the UK, only the 2.5mg and the 5mg and there was a schedule at the start for them to arrive which has been put back a bit but not a huge amount, so hopefully they will arrive mid-April as promised.

On the question of stopping while you are on holiday. I would not ! This totally screwed me up when I was on Saxenda. It undid all the good work I had previously put in.
Also remember that what you don't want to do is gorge at any time even on holiday. Also remember we are trying to correct our bad habits and our toxic relationship with food. So over eating on holiday may not be the way to go. Have a little of every thing while still reducing your plate size. Intersperse your alcohol or pop drinking with fizzy water. Remember we are still entitled to treats but let's embrace ...less is more.
And that is the end of my lecture 🙃 Love and be kind to your self. You are worth it.🙃

Saxenda is a little different, it has a much shorter half-life which is why you have to inject it every day.

Mounjaro stays in the system for quite a while so missing one week would not result in the same drop that stopping Saxenda for a week would, it would just be a more gradual reduction and pick back up when you resume, so you'd just get a bit more appetite back but not too much.

I think, as well, people are looking more to avoid side effects while they are away rather than to be able to eat and drink everything in sight!

Mortigua · 26/03/2024 18:11

Thanks but I honestly think it was me being stupid . I was trying to be quick and so was rushing and not paying attention (down side of secret injections !) so I can’t be sure how much I sprayed everywhere . I will add a pic though thank you and at least that will help me know if it’s worth me getting anything out at all or if it’s all now gone .

Mortigua · 26/03/2024 18:14

Hm tried to do a pic but can’t work out how ! It’s ok though I’m pretty sure that it’s such a small amount. I just hope something went into me - I guess I should at least have 2-5 mg in
