@oaode did stopping on holiday mean that you stopped losing or something like that from the break? Or harder to lose when restarting?

My main worry was taking the pen aboard with me on the plane etc. Also a lot of my family are coming on this hol and they don't know about me taking mounjaro, so don't want to have to explain the pen if I have to take it out to go through security or something like that!

So thought best solution would be to not take it while away and have a week off.

Saxenda is a little different, it has a much shorter half-life which is why you have to inject it every day.

Mounjaro stays in the system for quite a while so missing one week would not result in the same drop that stopping Saxenda for a week would, it would just be a more gradual reduction and pick back up when you resume, so you'd just get a bit more appetite back but not too much.

I think, as well, people are looking more to avoid side effects while they are away rather than to be able to eat and drink everything in sight!

Thanks for this. Was thinking I could take 7.5mg before I go so it says in system more...but then would be starting a new pen!

Hopefully it's all good @Mortigua and you got a dose!

Hey everyone I’ve been a lurker here for a while but thought I would finally say hello!
I’ve had 2 injections so far - weigh/injection day tomorrow! I’m 7lbs down after the first week and over the moon!
I feel like Mounjaro has changed my life already and I’m only at the beginning of my journey 😍
just wanted to say hello and thank you all for sharing everything you have, so inspirational and I hope I can join your gang!?

ticktock19 · 26/03/2024 18:44

Hi @Sulleybear welcome and it sounds like you're doing brilliantly so far

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 18:46

Welcome @Sulleybear :). Great work so far. :)

Just on the constipation....
Apart from the appetite suppression MJ also reduces your digestion time. That's why you have the constipation and you may be farting and burping a lot. I would use to harsh a laxative as you may be undoing some of the benefit. I would suggest using Aloe Vera tablets . Not only will they soften your stool but they will reduce your bloating. It is also good for the skin

I take an aloe vera supplement. I used to wake up with really bad indigestion before I started MJ but I've been great since.
I also add chia seeds to a smoothie and things are definitely moving 😁

peachgreen · 26/03/2024 18:57

I took my second injection today. 3lb loss in week one which is fine by me as a) I’m on my period and b) I had a very bad weekend with lots of wine! My aim is an average of 2.5lbs a week for the next 3 months so I’m happy to be a bit ahead.

No real side effects beside being massively thirsty and a bit of a headache.

On the question of stopping while you are on holiday. I would not ! This totally screwed me up when I was on Saxenda. It undid all the good work I had previously put in.
Also remember that what you don't want to do is gorge at any time even on holiday. Also remember we are trying to correct our bad habits and our toxic relationship with food. So over eating on holiday may not be the way to go. Have a little of every thing while still reducing your plate size. Intersperse your alcohol or pop drinking with fizzy water. Remember we are still entitled to treats but let's embrace ...less is more.
And that is the end of my lecture 🙃 Love and be kind to your self. You are worth it.🙃

This is what I've agreed with my hubby.y weight has been an issue since I was a child and it's a new way of life that I need to become accustomed too.

I'm gutted it's the first all inclusive I've been to in 10 years but I'm thinking maybe I'll feel better in myself if I'm not laden down with drink and food!

I'm working on the mental side too listening to some podcasts about emotional and over eating and they seem to be sinking in a little.

Scalessayeek · 26/03/2024 19:14

So I ordered a 2.5 and 5 pen from pharmacy2u and I've had an email today asking if I'd like to put an order in for 7.5! Not sure when it will be available but they say they're prioritising existing customers.

But it looks like they may be anticipating a release at some point soon.

lurkylurk · 26/03/2024 19:45

Here's what I was talking about with the longer half-life of Mounjaro than say Saxenda:

This chart shows how much Mounjaro should be active in you. It assumes one shot every seven days: four shots of 2.5mg, four shots of 5.0mg, four shots of 7.5mg, and four shots of 10.0mg. Half-life is approximately five days.
The number on the left are dosage in mg. The numbers on the bottom are how many days have passed. It show how it builds up in your system even before you go to a higher dose.

Continuing Mounjaro... Part 2
lurkylurk · 26/03/2024 19:46

Sorry, the numbers on the bottom aren't showing! They basically go from 0 up to 119 at the end, the peaks are every 7 days (when you inject)

@ElizaJ74

When is best to take the aloe vera? I bought some but was wondering whether to take it at night or in the morning?

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 20:01

Thanks @lurkylurk that's good to know

OP posts:
Choux · 26/03/2024 20:40

Thanks for the graph @lurkylurk. So that shows that once you go up to 5mg you never have less than 2.5mg in your body.

Given I can eat only 1,000 calories on my first couple of days after a 2.5mg dose, that bodes well for me losing weight consistently on 5mg without needing more. Which is good if 7.5mg isn't even going to be available.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 20:46

That's great actually. Because I dont really want to take a week off, but like the idea of being a bit suppressed so I can enjoy the food and drink element of my holiday a bit!

So annoyed with myself. The needle slipped out when I was injecting and half of it just ran down my leg 😓i find the pen pretty cumbersome and it doesn't inject easily. Not sure what to do now. Think I will see if I get any effect and then just do again and make use of the mysterious 5th dose the floowing week.

So bloody pissed off. May as well had flushed 45 quid down the toilet.

ObsidianTree · 26/03/2024 21:10

Damn! Something in the air!

The needle isn't great tbh. I feel like the Wegovy needle was better.

Soukmyfalafel · 26/03/2024 21:27

Its the pen more than anything. It doesn't inject smoothly. I'm really tired and feeling ill, so wasn't concentrating. I will keep a close eye on the needle next time.

This is really sad, but I found a 1ml syringe and tried to guesstimate what I've lost and I think it's probably about a quarter of the dose. It's not a huge deal as I'm going to dose every 5/6 days now as the effects aren't as strong and will do the big twist after my 4th one next week. I will still get the months worth pretty much. Just might lose a bonus day or two if the big twist works on my pen.

I've had more 'waaah you must eat!' hunger today, so my body is getting used to it now.

Still annoyed though! 😂

I had slight problems with my first injection in my thigh, struggled to plunge it smoothly. I've found doing it in my tummy and grabbing a nice roll of flab makes it easier to plunge for some reason?

NC543210 · 26/03/2024 23:04

I had my first jab on Sunday at around 11pm.
So 48 hours in and today I've been absolutely starving and have just eaten like I usually would (what I mean is amount wise) I have made healthier choices but its been a struggle. I don't feel anymore satisfied, there's no appetite suppression and the food noise is still there.

Reading around social media a lot of people have said its within hours.
So now I'm wondering why mine doesn't seem to be doing its thing.
I've had no symptoms either other than not going to the loo today which is unheard of and a headache.

When did your first dose actually kick in and feel like it is doing something?

RagzRebooted · 27/03/2024 00:19

Mine had kicked in by the next morning. Everyone is different though.

ObsidianTree · 27/03/2024 05:51

@NC543210 it took until 5mg to really feel its effects fully for me. I too didn't feel much with the first jab. But it did build and it did start having more and more effect gradually.

OP posts:
BlackFriYay · 27/03/2024 06:10

@NC543210 I didn't feel much, if anything, from the first injection and got through week 1 on sheer willpower alone. I found that I felt slightly fuller for longer after eating but not much.

My second injection (which I had this Monday, bringing it forward a day because I was really hungry) seemed to work immediately. All food noise gone within the hour.
