Husband dislikes my mother of the bride dress choices, am I wrong?

Husband hates the dresses I loved - mob btw! He says the colour is wrong, the shape doesn’t suit. I felt fantastic in them ☹️. Ditching dh isn’t an option. Are they awful or is he being unreasonable?

Is this the first dress? If so the fit is not as good on you. Did you try a smaller size?

if it is this dress you have a great budget so should be able to find something which you feel great in but also looks amazing on you.

Yes that’s the dress.

I am with your husband. They don't flatter you and are very aging (not being ageist but remind me of an Edwardian grandmother with the pearls and gloves)

MongoosePerfume · Yesterday 18:14

It doesn’t fit you properly - you need a better bra and it looks too big on the waist.

seen it’s a spring wedding - totally the wrong colours.

rwalker · Yesterday 18:15

First one nice but doesn’t scream MOB
second no

fair play to DH I know it’s not nice to hear but he was brave enough to give an opinion

Redburnett · Yesterday 18:16

You are clearly in mourning over losing your DD

Echobelly · Yesterday 18:17

The first one is elegant but I think a bit sombre for a springtime wedding. Don't like cut of the second one.

beeautifullif3 · Yesterday 18:17

Its awful 😖 sorry , your going to a wedding not boarding the titanic , lose the gloves too

holjam · Yesterday 18:18

The first dress is nice but could be a bit more fitted around the middle. The 2nd dress does nothing for you I’m sorry to say.

7238SM · Yesterday 18:19

I too don't think they fit well nor flatter you.

The navy looks black in your photos and it might appear the same in the wedding pics. I personally wouldn't choose such a dark colour for a wedding, let alone as MOB and a spring one where you will be in lots of photos.

WhiskyandWater · Yesterday 18:19

I disagree, I love the first one’s neckline - definitely try the smaller size though or you’d need to get it tailored to fit. I also think for a city wedding navy is very chic.

BoldBeans · Yesterday 18:20

They definitely don't scream spring.

I would look at non-wedding specific sites like Net a Porter and My Theresa.

pastadish · Yesterday 18:20

I agree with the others nether of them are right at all. They look like an elderly persons cocktail dress or a Victorian funeral dress. The pearl one is definitely not for you. A brighter colour for a spring wedding would be better. Also the length is too long they are right down to your ankles which doesn’t look right. Did someone help you pick these out?
There are some lovey dresses out there which will look fabulous on you just keep looking.

Morepositivemum · Yesterday 18:20

Op I’m so sorry but they look almost like funeral attire. If it was winter I’d say maybe but spring is think you were in mourning

Hollycoco · Yesterday 18:20

You have a nice figure but this dress does you no favours around the middle, it makes you look bigger than you are. I think a different shape fitting dress would suit you better. And you need a brighter or lighter colour, not navy.

Sorry please don’t take offence, I can see why you like the dress but it’s too dark for a MOB at wedding and the shape doesn’t suit your figure. You deserve to look like a million dollars on the day.

SomaTaim · Yesterday 18:20

The colour is a bit funereal op. Sorry.

EmailsaysOOO · Yesterday 18:21

It is a bit dark for a wedding in my view..love the hat if you can keep that, that could go with lots of dresses..good luck 🤞

RaraRachael · Yesterday 18:21

Not keen on either sorry. Are glives a thing at weddings? I haven't seen anyone wear gloves since the 70s.

Marmalade71 · Yesterday 18:25

Who on earth advised these for a spring wedding? Totally the wrong vibe - they look like they’re for the wrong life event, wrong season. And wrong century I’m afraid (though that’s no doubt partly the gloves).

MarthaLovesLaughing · Yesterday 18:26

Awful dress, awful colour for a wedding, awful fit. Sorry - but NO

BunnyLake · Yesterday 18:29

Sorry to say but your husbsnd has a point. It also looks more suitable for a funeral than a wedding. I’m sure there must be something better out there for you.

PatriciaRocks · Yesterday 18:31

I'm going to agree with pp, neither dress is flattering. They are shapeless and far too dismal. The hat is dated. Please go on Style and Beauty with your details and budget. They'll find you something fantastic!

ForPinkDuck · Yesterday 18:31

What type of venue?

BunnyLake · Yesterday 18:32

Biggles27 · Yesterday 18:13

Yes that’s the dress.

I don’t think that even looks nice on the model. Sorry 🫣

Hohofortherobbers · Yesterday 18:32

Colour and length is wrong on you. Especially for a spring wedding. I'd go lighter, shorter, less structured
