Hi
Getting married next Easter, elopement style wedding with daughter (28) and her partner as witnesses.
I have been sending pictures of dresses to daughter for her opinion and this came up on my feed. Sent to daughter as I thought it was perfect for me in terms of style, arms covered etc etc.
She hates it!!
For info 57 (age) size 10/12.
Am I loosing my style mojo?

This is the same price range -

That looks frumpy and Victorian IMO! 😬 I wouldn't be seen dead in that. (And I am in my 50s like the OP!)

The OP's dress is much better.

BatchCookBabe · 21/03/2025 16:02

What does your daughter suggest you wear for your wedding day @Smokedsausagesupper ???

Something frumpy and mumsy like this?!

Ya know, coz you're soooooooo old! 🙄

This is nice, isn't it??
Chuchoter · 21/03/2025 16:02

@BatchCookBabe I wouldn't be seen dead in either to be honest and I'm the same age!
I just thought the op was on a budget and that was the only mint green I found in that price range. 😂

I've found the matching hat.

That hat is magnificent!

DeirdreDarling · 21/03/2025 16:05

Where are you eloping to? Somewhere hot? or UK? Beach/City/Countryside?

ballettap · 21/03/2025 16:06

Coffeeishot · 21/03/2025 12:28

I see mint green ! It definitely isn't blue 😕

I checked again and it is definitely blue to me!

nonmerci99 · 21/03/2025 16:06

I’m sorry, I hate those flower appliqué things on the arms, and the colour feels very ice skater / ice cream parlour.

The sleeves look like wedding hats.

I like this I don't think that is what the daughter was meaning about the dress at all. I'm the ops age I don't like it and it's nothing to do with thinking it's too young for me.

Mancala · 21/03/2025 16:26

I didn't go "wow" but it's not "ugh" either, I do quite like it. Actually, I suspect it's one of those dresses which would look better in real life with a bit of movement and look lovely on a real person.

Please yourself op, it's the only way ❤️

Ddakji · 21/03/2025 16:29

I like it, I think the rosettes work well for a wedding dress.

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 21/03/2025 16:30

MidnightMillie · 21/03/2025 11:39

Oh dear no, it's very 1970s.

You're around the same age as me so you'll remember Yootha Joice in 'George and Mildred'?

This is who immediately sprang to mind.

But as always, if you like it then go for it.

What's wrong with the 1970s?! I think it looks more like something Margo would have worn for a posh party in The Good Life, Mildred's clothes were slightly more 'out there'.
OP I think it's lovely and if I had that figure - I'd definitely wear it with pride!

Ddakji · 21/03/2025 16:32

Having looked at all the dresses suggested on this thread, your original one is definitely the best, @Smokedsausagesupper!

mumda · 21/03/2025 16:38

You'll get gravy on them sleeves.

BatchCookBabe · 21/03/2025 16:43

@BarnacleBeasley that dress is quite nice too. Smile ^

recipientofraspberries · 21/03/2025 16:50

I'm 28 and I adore it!! I love the simple lines, the straight neck and the colour. I could take or leave the rosettes but I don't hate them at all. Can you try it on? That might make your mind up.

recipientofraspberries · 21/03/2025 16:52

I've got to say, I find a lot of the V neck and fluffy sleeve options being posted much more dated

What's 'wrong' with the 1970s is that it's now 2025.

The OP didn't say she was specifically going for a retro look but she did ask for opinions.

I think the designers at Chloe, Isabel Marant and Valentino would disagree with you.

*on it being wrong for now, not on what year it is 😀

Friendofdennis · 21/03/2025 17:04

I love it. It’s elegant and the flowers on the sleeves add interest

Edited

Yeah, a seventies look is gorgeous! Especially in such a bright, clean colour and style as the original dress.
