Hi
Getting married next Easter, elopement style wedding with daughter (28) and her partner as witnesses.
I have been sending pictures of dresses to daughter for her opinion and this came up on my feed. Sent to daughter as I thought it was perfect for me in terms of style, arms covered etc etc.
She hates it!!
For info 57 (age) size 10/12.
Am I loosing my style mojo?

I’m 47 and I love it! It would be a lovely wedding dress. Congratulations OP!

longtimelistnerfirsttimecaller · 21/03/2025 17:23

I love it! You do you. Also, congratulations 🍾

londongirl12 · 21/03/2025 17:31

Not keen on the sleeves, looks very old fashioned.

londongirl12 · 21/03/2025 17:31

But if you like it, that’s all that matters!!

bettydavieseyes · 21/03/2025 17:33

I think it's beautiful (though would look better in white). I'm 45 years old.

I don't like it, in fact I think it's awful. I think the colour and style is more Mother of the bride than Bride. I'd favour something cream/off white, in a silk material.

piscofrisco · 21/03/2025 18:15

I love it except for the sleeve rosettes. Could you get a local dressmaker to make you something like it without them? (I know a good one in letchworth if you are per chance in the northern Home Counties)

Well, the OP is in her 50s!

It doesn't matter though what age @Smokedsausagesupper is, she's the bride and should go for something special for her big day. I think this is lovely, it hangs beautifully 🤍

This is nice, isn't it??

But not every bride wants to wear cream or white, and I think that’s very true if they’re older and/or have children. I didn’t when I got married (my 2nd, I was 40 and had toddler DD). Hell, my mum didn’t when she got married at 32 in the 60s!

I think sometimes older brides are almost apologetic in their choice of dress though! And they shouldn't be. White can be harsh at any age, ivory/cream are ideal bridal shades (just my opinion, for what it's worth 😂).

My dress wasn’t in the least apologetic and I wore fuck-off patent red stilettos with it too 🤣.

Florence4170 · 21/03/2025 21:41

I love it.

Iwiicit · 21/03/2025 22:45

I hate it, sorry.

Neveranynamesleft · 21/03/2025 22:58

The sleeves stand out for all the wrong reasons. Lovely colour though.

CarpetKnees · 21/03/2025 23:41

I'm a little bit older than you, but I'm with your daughter.
It's the sleeves - I really don't like the sleeves. Those rosette thingees are awful.

I agree with the poster on P1 who said it reminded her of Yootha Joyce' outfits int 1970s sitcoms.

The rest of the dress is nice if you have the figure to pull it off.

tsmainsqueeze · 21/03/2025 23:50

I really like it ,despite the negative comments !

Pandimoanymum · 21/03/2025 23:57

I'm 58 and I'm with DD, sorry. There is absolutely nothing I like about it and even if I had the model's figure I wouldn't wear it. The ornamental cabbage and Yootha joyce comments are spot on. Polyester is a hideous fabric as well.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 22/03/2025 00:24

It’s not nice, sorry OP! You could do SO much better

Azureshores · 22/03/2025 06:59

It's a bit weird. Nice colour though.

Rumpoleoftheballet · 22/03/2025 07:43

I like it but wonder if the fabric would be a bit sweaty?

Heronwatcher · 22/03/2025 08:10

Yep it’s not great.

Plus although you sound slim, unless you have no tummy and have incredibly perky boobs that shape will do nothing for you.

Thoughtsonstuff · 22/03/2025 08:16

The material looks not great and the sleeves and cut are weird and unflaterring even on the model. I don't personally like the colour either but it may obviously suit you. It looks like a £50 wedding dress and I see its nearly £250. If you aren't worried about going in a white dress I'd have another look elsewhere.

Heronwatcher · 22/03/2025 08:17

What about one of these?

This is nice, isn't it??
