Hi
Getting married next Easter, elopement style wedding with daughter (28) and her partner as witnesses.
I have been sending pictures of dresses to daughter for her opinion and this came up on my feed. Sent to daughter as I thought it was perfect for me in terms of style, arms covered etc etc.
She hates it!!
For info 57 (age) size 10/12.
Am I loosing my style mojo?

It’s almost nice, maybe a bit bridesmaidy.

KhakiBeer · 21/03/2025 14:46

I like it but I'd keep accessories to a minimum. The rosettes are doing the heavy lifting in that department Simple chain necklace, small sparkly stud earrings maybe?

Are you planning to have a bouquet? Personally I wouldn't, way too much foliage, might look like a window box 😁Just as an example, my Mam didn't have a bouquet, she carried a white leather bound bible. It's beautiful and if I ever get married, I'm using it too.

Maybe a talented tailor could remove the rosettes and put one at the shoulder like this. I love this dress. The rosette is my favourite detail.

KhakiBeer · 21/03/2025 14:53

I can't link the dress.
It's on Pintrest just search for

Le Spose Di Gio CL27

Ihavethebestdogs · 21/03/2025 14:54

Those sleeves are are different, and not in a good way. Those rosettes are so oddly placed! Do love the colour though! Hope you find something you love! Just to add, that kind f money for a polyester dress is crazy!

BobbyBiscuits · 21/03/2025 14:56

I really dislike the neck, sleeves and big rose. The colour is nice but it's just too much. Those three details just look a bit like someone could be wearing it to the races while drunk.
Sorry. It's just not my taste at all.

WhatFreshHellisThese · 21/03/2025 14:59

Sorry it's horrid. I thought it was trying to be ironic but it isn't. I think Rixo and Needle & Thread are great ideas

Parrotscoop · 21/03/2025 15:02

I like it, but I'd have to try it on. I suspect you need to be as slim as the model for it to look good.

Pinkpom · 21/03/2025 15:03

It's your choice at the end of the day. You know your body and what makes you comfortable. Maybe buy it and try it on and see what you think? You can always return it if it doesn't feel right.

Either way, congratulations and have a lovely wedding!

KhakiBeer · 21/03/2025 15:07

It's giving me Melania Trump first inauguration vibes

thankyounextplease · 21/03/2025 15:07

Looks like you're trying to be a Disney princess. At 5 cute, at 57 not so much.

goodforher · 21/03/2025 15:07

I love it!

Beeinalily · 21/03/2025 15:10

It's nice OP, if you have pretty shoulders and you can find appropriate shoes. I'm sure you're sensible enough to have thought of that, but I have form for buying clothes that don't go with any of my footwear so I thought I'd mention it!

CanOfMangoTango · 21/03/2025 15:12

Some of these replies are savage but I'm afraid I have to agree

I think the rosettes will flop about and annoy you - ornamental cabbage is correct

I'm afraid the colour is rather hospital green

LavenderFields7 · 21/03/2025 15:14

Hideous. And unless you are very small bust size it will do nothing for your chest area except age you.

MixedFeelingsNoFeelings · 21/03/2025 15:15

Not my personal style, but I love to see people who DON'T dress like me (why should they) rock a look! Plus I'm always up for a bit of corsage, and the colour's lovely. Not sure if you've tried it on yet, but if you feel great in it, go for it.

I only hope that, despite your parade having been royally p**d on by DD and some posters here, the dress hasn't lost its appeal...

Gundogday · 21/03/2025 15:15

I really like it!

Chuchoter · 21/03/2025 15:26

The ruching in the middle makes it look ill fitting.

You also need to be tall or you'll look like a lampshade.

I don't like the sleeves. Or the neckline.

Darkclothes · 21/03/2025 15:30

I've found the matching hat.

This is nice, isn't it??
MissMoan · 21/03/2025 15:32

Congratulations @Smokedsausagesupper
It's your day, you should wear what you like and what you feel comfortable in, regardless of what anyone else thinks

Guiltypleasures001 · 21/03/2025 15:32

Sorry op it’s very Margo

DeirdreDarling · 21/03/2025 15:43

MidnightMillie · 21/03/2025 11:39

Oh dear no, it's very 1970s.

You're around the same age as me so you'll remember Yootha Joice in 'George and Mildred'?

This is who immediately sprang to mind.

But as always, if you like it then go for it.

Oh I loooved Mildreds mad 70s clothes .... same as Margot in The Good Life - spectacular creations.

I like the structure and simplicity - I see it more 60's than 70's - I imagine it would be very flattering - but would remove the flowers especially if you have a bouquet - would wear some fab shoes poking out the bottom - fushia pink or silver kitten heals.

BatchCookBabe · 21/03/2025 15:50

@Smokedsausagesupper

If you are tall-ish and leggy, and slim - yes this will look fine. It's quite nice. (Lovely colour!) But if you're NOT tall-ish, leggy, and slim, then no. (Sorry!)

Also, I agree that it's more green than blue. Though it could pass for duck egg blue. Which this is.......

This is nice, isn't it??
DressOrSkirt · 21/03/2025 15:53

If you like it you should wear it, but I don't think it's nice, sorry!
I've also ordered a couple of dresses in that 'scuba' material that looked nice online but when they arrived were horrible and cheap looking.

mewkins · 21/03/2025 15:53

I like the shape but not the rosettes or the fabric which is cheap (and this isn't a cheap dress!). I think you can get something nicer for the money.
