Hi
Getting married next Easter, elopement style wedding with daughter (28) and her partner as witnesses.
I have been sending pictures of dresses to daughter for her opinion and this came up on my feed. Sent to daughter as I thought it was perfect for me in terms of style, arms covered etc etc.
She hates it!!
For info 57 (age) size 10/12.
Am I loosing my style mojo?

I'm on team DD - sorry!!

BestDIL · 21/03/2025 13:48

I think it's your wedding and you should wear what you want. Sod what any other bugger thinks! It's your day!x

Creeps quietly out of room..
🤣

No! Don’t go! What is your usual style?

Flowersforcharlie · 21/03/2025 13:51

I think you can find something better than that.

minipie · 21/03/2025 13:53

Sorry but Adrianna Papell stuff is always on the edge of “elderly posh aunt” and this one definitely is in that category.

Judellie · 21/03/2025 13:54

Really don't like it, sorry. My daughter wouldn't either. Sleeves are awful and neither of us like things that don't have any shoulders.

Well i love it. If you can carry it off with the bare back and shoulders, go for it. i think the rosette sleeves make it really special. The colour is beautiful. Great choice!

minipie · 21/03/2025 13:55

Have you tried Karen Millen and Reiss? Including the sale section as there are a load more styles in there than current collection.

AllTheTreesOfTheField · 21/03/2025 13:57

Yes I'm seeing the late, great Yootha Joyce's Mildred too.

Daisyvodka · 21/03/2025 13:58

Oh i almost always think that suggestions on wedding threads are really frumpy and dated, so refreshing to see something different! I can see the 70s inspo but I think it looks fab? Its really striking and unusual. Have you tried it on?

WatchingTheClowns · 21/03/2025 13:59

It's ugly. The slash neck isn't flattering, and the rosette things on the sleeves look daft. Horrible material. The colour is pretty.

I'm almost 66 and wouldn't wear it!

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 21/03/2025 14:01

It's just a bit meh isn't it. blue ? noooo it's a pale nothing ish green.

for £250 you can do better.

OverpricedCupcake · 21/03/2025 14:01

I really like it, definitely try it on if you haven't yet.

The4teddybears · 21/03/2025 14:02

I don’t normally comment on clothing , as I think everyone’s different. But I really don’t like this . There is so much more out there
thats nicer than this. Hope you find something you both love ❤️

Catwoman8 · 21/03/2025 14:03

It would be so much nicer if if didn't have those awful rose bell sleeves. The cut of the dress is nice, and I don't mind the colour, it's the sleeves that spoil it.

sweetpickle2 · 21/03/2025 14:04

Jojoisnotmyname · 21/03/2025 13:45

@Smokedsausagesupper what about something like this?
P.s I agree with your daughter lol.

I like this far less than the one OP posted.

OP it's not to my taste but it's your wedding, wear what you want! I've been to loads of weddings where (if I thought about it) I wouldn't personally select what the bride had on, but it doesn't matter- you'll look radiant whatever you wear.

butterfly0404 · 21/03/2025 14:08

Fine if you're tall but if you're five feet nothing like me I'd look like an iced fairy cake

ViciousCurrentBun · 21/03/2025 14:18

I hate the rosettes, sorry op.

I bought a dress to wear to a wedding last year and DS announced it was too old for me and that was the sort of thing he would imagine he would be burying me in when I was about 90.

Kids are brutal aren’t they.

BebbanburgIsMine · 21/03/2025 14:32

I love the colour and the flowers, but I don’t like the style of the dress

Fagli · 21/03/2025 14:35

I think you could do a lot better, it looks like something from Shein.

redcord · 21/03/2025 14:36

It looks like you've got your tissues on your arms and not up your sleeve (where they usually are if your dress doesn't have pockets).

CertainUncertain · 21/03/2025 14:43

Have you tried it on @Smokedsausagesupper? Because I think how you feel in it is what really matters. I suspect you'll have an immediate yes/no feeling.

Valentino did a lot of sleeve rosettes last year that I quite liked, but they were on very plain dresses and shirts. I think the problem here is that there's a bit too much going on - the off the shoulder neck, the fluttery cuffs and the rosette - if it was just one of those things I think it would be fine.

But ultimately, you should wear what you love. Mumsnet collective fashion sense isn't always the be all and end all!
