Today is the start of meteorological Autumn and the weather this week, certainly looks like it's going to match up to the new season! As for the rest of Autumn, there aren't any strong signals either way as to what to expect but here are some thoughts from….

Morning all, happy autumn. It's been quite autumnal here all weekend. Finally a bit of rain, my grass is almost green again

Its lovely isnt it. The crispness first thing, the cool fresh air. Love it but hope it doesnt rain too much, even though the ground needs it.

Yes, welcome to Autumn everybody! DH decided a few days ago that summer was over and put away the fan for his office.

Yes heavy downpours in London with a few sunny spells and is warm not hot ,feels like autumn has begun and no Indian summer.am wondering if leaves which are already brown on trees from heat will drop quickly

We had a stunning start to the Aurora season last night here on the NE coast of England. This is not my photo, but one taken by a local photographer who posted publicly on our Autora group

RainbowZebraWarrior ~ I had a quick look at those webcams last night, Burrafirth (which doesn't seem to be working for me now!), had some nice views of the Northern Lights.

We've woken up to proper rain this morning and it looks like it's going to be an unsettled day.

And Netweather have issued their Autumn forecast ~ they're going for warmer than average and about average rainfall.

And weather warnings have been issued for thunderstorms/rain.
I'm not really surprised about the thunderstorm one ~ it's rather humid today.

I watch the sheltand cams all year round, but more so from this time of year. Burrafirth was lovely as was Cliffcam 3, especially around midnight. I took a few screenshots and there were some great pillars.

It's that time of year, justasking111. Friday and Saturday look fairly warm and dry though but from Sunday onwards, it turns unsettled again.

Some good thunderstorms/lightning strikes showing up here.

Biblical rain in the Cotswolds where I was working today and thunder too. We took shelter in the barn and the rain was so heavy on the roof we couldn't hear each other speak!
